Is LEGO Teasing On A Possible Jurassic Park Visitor Center Set?

So, Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom is due to premiere next week (stateside, as some other territories already have it showing). At the same time, LEGO’s various tie-ins to the movie are gradually easing their way into store shelves, alongside sets associated with the movie’s (and the franchise’s) progenitor: Jurassic Park.

It just so happens that this year is the 25th anniversary of that pioneering film directed by Steven Spielberg, explaining the new Jurassic World-inspired LEGO sets coming out. More are expected, such as this set teased by LEGO that calls to mind the climactic scene from the ending stretch of the first film.

If you need a refresher, this is when the surviving people on Jurassic Park are stuck in the Visitors Center surrounded by the raptors, only for the T-Rex to arrive, killing the hunters and roaring gloriously while a banner falls in front of it. This greetings from LEGO spells it out quite well.

Rumors lave long abound that there will eventually be a Jurassic Park Visitors Center set put out by LEGO. And while we can speculate about the possibility of seeing this set happen, we don’t know yet if it’s only an interior action set-piece or a whole Visitor Center building teased.

While we wait for this previewed set, and for Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom’s US premiere, one LEGO Jurassic Park set for its 25th Anniversary has already been officially released, and it’s the one with the raptors in pursuit. The LEGO Jurassic Park Velociraptor Chase (75932) is out now for fandom collectors.

Thanks to The Brick Fan for the heads up.

The LEGO US Catalog (June-December 2018) Teases on a New Minifigure Series

Not only does the recently released online LEGO US Catalog 2H 2018 teased on two upcoming LEGO BrickHeadz sets, but it seems that we’ll be seeing the next Collectible Minifigure Series sooner than expected. We’re still swooning with delight on LEGO’s party-themed, commemorative 40th Anniversary CMF Series 18 (71021) minifigs, and it looks like we’re about to get another wave roughly two months from now.

scaled EN MEA 38

The announcement came in almost as a side note on that particular page in the LEGO US Catalog, and on the rest of its foreign counterparts. The said ‘surprise’ has been rumored to be, within LEGO community and fan forums, to be the LEGO Harry Potter Minifigure Series (71022), which also coincides with the release of the rest of the Wizarding World sets.

scaled EN MEA 94

If you recall way back in 2002, LEGO released four series of collectible Harry Potter minifigure that comes free with qualifying purchases of LEGO Harry Potter sets at that time. The LEGO Harry Potter Minifigure Collection Gallery featured 17 minifigures which you can see below (images courtesy of Brickset):

With LEGO’s extensive collection of existing LEGO Harry Potter figures, its kind of hard to predict which Harry Potter character will make it to the cut, if indeed the next CMF Series to arrive in August is all about the Wizarding World. I guess we just have to wait until then.

What do you think is this next LEGO CMF series all about? Do you think it is a Harry Potter CMF Series? If so, who do you think will make it to the list? Comment down below.

Showcasing The Ultimate LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261) Ride

One particular spot for my checklist of LEGO must-haves for this year definitely goes to the LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261). Since the introduction of LEGO’s new track elements included from last year’s LEGO Batman Movie Joker Manor (70922), clamor for a true LEGO roller coaster set has been stronger than ever. With the arrival of the Roller Coaster (10261), and with LEGO even throwing in a newer, optional power function to go along with it, everything seems to be all too perfect.

10261 1

However, for Dutch LEGO enthusiast 2T Toys, the search for the ultimate LEGO roller coaster isn’t over yet. Raising the bar even higher, they decided not just to build a single LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261) set, but combining all three – yes, three separate sets – into one monster brick-built ride. The result was simply mesmerizing. Watch this.

A quick Google Translate tells us that this ultimate LEGO Roller Coaster ride fares at 100 cm. in length, 55 cm. wide, and 1.5 m. tall. And in minifigure scale, it’s just one cool, extreme ride. Other than the awesome loop which is the central attraction of this MOC, the sheer amount of power available from the new power function motor is also impressive in itself. It goes to show that it is capable of bringing the coasters even up to the height of 1.5 meters. If only 2T Toys can bring the camera to capture the entire moment from when the coaster leaves the platform, gradually goes for the drop, towards the loop, and then back to the station. Needless to say, it is still a sight to behold.

The LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261) is now available in-store and online at shop.LEGO.com.

LEGO Store July 2018 Calendar Now Up – Teases on Two Exciting VIP Exclusives

LEGO has rolled out its store calendar for July and it looks like we’re about to have an awesome summer ahead. Other than the usual freebies and gift-with-purchase items for this month, LEGO is also getting ready for other big events lined up for July such as the annual San Diego Comic Con. And rumor has it that next month’s VIP exclusives will saw the arrival of one of the most carefully guarded sets that AFOLs are so eagerly waiting for in a very a long time (myself included). Let’s take a quick look of what the LEGO Store July 2018 Calendar has to offer. You can also find a PDF version of this right here.

June 30 to July 8 – Free exclusive LEGO Beach Tote bag with a purchase of $199 or more. I can’t say that I’m thrilled with this freebie, at such a high price point as a gift-with-purchase item. $200 is too much to get a bag such as this, but nevertheless, I guess it doesn’t matter if you’re eyeing on larger sets such as the LEGO Technic Bugatti Chiron (42083) or the LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261).

July 9 to 15 – Free Party Banana Minifigure with a purchase of $35 or more. This one is a more decent offer, with a reasonable price point attached to it. Similar to previous GWPs such as this year’s Easter Bunny Hut (5005249) and 2017’s Iconic Cave (5004936), the Party Banana (5005250) is a mascot-themed minifig that comes in a clamshell box, a boom box accessory and an all new banana guy printing.

July 1 to 31 – LEGO VIPs earn Double Points on certain LEGO Creator sets. These sets are the most recent Sunshine Surfer Van (31079) and the Modular Winter Vacation (31080), both offered at $34.99. Promoting these sets fits practically well with LEGO’s theme for the month of July.

July 10 to 11 – VIP Monthly Mini Build is a BBQ stand. LEGO VIP members should register at shop.LEGO.com/Minibuild-registration beginning June 15 to qualify for this monthly mini build.

July 18 to 31 and July 23 to 31 – VIPs get Early Access to a new exclusive LEGO set during these dates, respectively. Rumors are rife among LEGO fan forums that we are about to see the release of the much-awaited, and long overdue LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set. Speculations point out to the possibility that LEGO might take the opportunity at San Diego Comic Con to reveal the towering, and impressively designed LEGO Ideas Voltron set. A recent news outlet from Korea also points out that set 21311 will be available worldwide on August 1. This is truly an exciting month.

July 26 – Dream It, Build It, Keep It. – Come to any LEGO Brand Store during this date to receive one of four different mystery boxes of elements. Based on the rather grainy image of the box art, it looks like that this will be a kind of promotional gift for participating on this in-store event. Bear in mind that this is intended for children ages 5 to 14 and pre-registration is required starting July 1.

Korean-Language LEGO Catalog Shows First Glimpse of Redesigned (and Renumbered) Architecture Las Vegas Set (21047)

LEGO Architecture has been on a roll with their releases of major city skylines in America and the world, although sometimes they might hit some stumbling blocks along the way. Case in point was their planned Architecture set of famous buildings in Vegas. It was delayed on account of needing to change one of its structures, the Mandalay Bay Hotel.

As you might recall, the Mandalay Bay was the site where a mass shooter attacked an outdoor concert with assault weapons on October 2017. LEGO thus decided to delay their Architecture Las Vegas (21038) while a replacement building was designed.

Apparently the redesign is done, according to another newly-uploaded online LEGO product catalog, this one in Korean. It even received a new set number – 21047 – and replacing the Mandalay Bay is another hotel, the Bellagio. The other structures remain unaltered, and the catalog reveals the set comes out in September.

legocatkrarchitecture

To summarize, the buildings comprising the skyline for new LEGO Architecture Las Vegas (21047) are: the “Welcome to Las Vegas” sign; hotels Luxor, Bellagio and Encore; the Stratosphere Tower and the Freemont Street Experience. There appears to be no other obstacles for this set to finally be released very soon.

We’re very grateful to LEGO for starting to release their product catalogs (in different languages) covering the latter half of 2018, as they’ve been sweet sources on info for various sets that months before were merely talked about but not shown. Past articles with us were courtesy of the LEGO Denmark catalog, though it may have been uploaded too early as it’s been taken down.

SPOTTED: LEGO Wizarding World Fantastic Beasts Newt’s Suitcase (75952) First Image

With a new film set in JK Rowling’s Wizarding World coming towards the end of this year, Warner Bros. is ramping up the promotion of this seminal modern fantasy genre with plenty of merchandising collaborations. Among them is LEGO with its numerous Fantastic Beasts and Harry Potter sets lined up.

One of the sets announced for the Fantastic Beasts lineup was one for a prominent (but inanimate) object present in the first film from 2016: the “bigger on the inside” suitcase of wizard magi-zoologist Newt Scamander. After almost two months of waiting, we finally have images of this LEGO set.

legowwnewtssuitcase75952 e1528164679111

Thanks should be extended to LEGO Denmark, which has released a catalog detailing sets coming in the latter half of 2018, including Newt’s Suitcase (set number 75952) for the Fantastic Beasts wave in the larger Wizarding World sub-brand. It’s a location play-set that comes in a compact luggage carrying form.

But take Newt’s Suitcase (75952) apart and you can reconstruct the interior which is practically a menagerie/animal shelter for all the magical creatures found and cared for by Newt. In this set you can find the brick versions of the Erumpent, Occamy, the Thunderbird and that mischievous Niffler. Newt himself is accompanied by his Muggle buddy Jacob and MACUSA witch-sisters Tina and Queenie, all as minifigures.

According to the Danish LEGO catalog, set 75952 of LEGO’s Wizarding World series will cost 449,00 krone, or just about $70.53 once it comes stateside. Once again, we’ll have to wait until we get a date for its US release.

UPDATE: It looks like LEGO has revealed this a little too soon since the link to their digital Danish catalog is no longer working.
