LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775) Revealed!

Boy, oh boy! This weekend is jam-packed with a ton of reveals from LEGO that it’s kind of hard to focus where to begin. Better start the ball rolling, and let’s begin with the multifaceted (read: bipolar?), brick-built kitty sensation from the highly successful LEGO Movie.

Now that she has her own TV show, LEGO opted to push through a dedicated theme for her and the rest of her gang.  We already reported back in January during the Nuremberg Toy Fair that the sensational Unikitty will be having her own line of collectible figures, or more specifically LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figure series (41775). For one, this is definitely not your typical CMF series due to the very feature of Unikitty herself being made roughly of 14, mostly printed, standard LEGO pieces set on a cloud shape baseplate.

Now thanks to Italian toy and hobby store, Radio Kontrol, we no longer need to guess how this Unikitty collectible figure series will turn out. Now if you’re looking forward to this one, then a word of caution: it is virtually impossible for you to feel your way through most of the characters in this series because as you can see, each blind bag basically has the same kind of pieces save for their own unique printings. Here’s a rough Google translate from the Italian website, which interestingly states that this is the first among upcoming series.  Read on and check the images below.

LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775)

Jump into the wonderful and glittering world of Unikitty! ™ with the Series 1 Collectibles Unikitty! ™ 41775, with buildable characters in limited edition. Discover Unikitty ™ and Prince Puppycorn ™ in a completely new version! Each character comes with a collector’s brochure and a cloud-shaped display plate. There are 12 to collect and exchange with your friends! Which character will you find in the surprise bag?

The LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775) is expected to be available sometime in June. Will keep you posted as more info comes out so be sure to stick around with us here in the Brick Show.

Amazon France Does It Again – First Look at LEGO DC Comics Batman Attack of the Talons (76110) and Brother Eye Takedown (76111)

Amazon France is being hailed as a champ in LEGO circles right now. They’ve already pulled a hat trick with their advance reveals yesterday and early today of new summer 2018 set reveals for no less than three of LEGO’s own product lines: LEGO Creator, LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Friends.

40861775214 ee8924965a

Now, Amazon France is going 4 for 4 with another wave of 2018 official LEGO set reveals, and this time it’s for one of their major licensed franchise, LEGO DC Comics. It also doesn’t take a genius to guess that these two new sets feature the Dark Knight himself: Batman.

The two Batman-themed summer releases for LEGO DC Comics are Attack of the Talons (76110) and Brother Eye Takedown (76111). Both are based on the Dark Knight’s struggles with two fairly recent threats from his comic-book rogues’ gallery: the Talons of the Court of Owls and the Brother Eye satellite.

Attack of the Talons (76110) sees LEGO Batman take to the streets on his Bat-Tricycle, putting the hurt on the Talon assassins of Gotham City’s Court of Owls secret society with the help of his canine crime-fighting partner Ace the Bat-Hound. The Talons are heavily armed but so is Batman.

Next on the list is Brother Eye Takedown (76111) where the Dark Knight faces his very own Skynet, Brother Eye: an AI over-mind reverse-engineered from Superman foe Brainiac (13) in a killer-sat body commanding the meta-human-hunting OMAC units. Batman has a new Bat-plane for the mission, with Bat-woman joining in.

Aside from these two sets, there’s also the App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) first mentioned at the Nuremberg Toy Fair earlier this year. There’s no photos for this one yet though, so for now, enjoy the first peek of its immediate predecessors which are now listed on Amazon France. Kudos to them.

New LEGO Friends Summer 2018 Set Images Revealed

Coming again from Amazon France’s reveal of the summer 2018 Creator and Ninjago sets, we now have our first images of this year’s LEGO Friends sets due to be out sometime this summer. If you recall, we mentioned a rumor back in December that mentions that the next wave of LEGO Friends sets will see the gang having a go-kart racing theme. This time, it seems that the rumors are now set in stone with Amazon France giving us a glimpse of how a brick-built, LEGO Friends-inspired go-kart racing will look like.

I’m not particularly fond of the LEGO Friends theme, but I have to say that the karts are pretty slick coming in at mini-doll proportions. I like the color scheme on these karts, and their design somehow speaks of their riders’ characteristics and personalities. I’m also impressed on how the Heartlake City Resort (41347) turned out, and the nice selection of mini-builds included with this year’s LEGO Friends Advent Calendar (41353). Let’s take a closer look at the rest of these sets.

New Space-Themed LEGO Education Sets Announced in Time for Start of 2018-19 FIRST LEGO League Science Challenge

We all know that at the heart of it, all of LEGO’s brick sets and related products today have an educational bent that’s fitting of the brand’s earliest roots. But their LEGO Education product line is pretty blatant about its theme, wearing the distinction of its educational aims with pride.

LEGO has just announced two new sets coming for the LEGO Education line, both of which are themed for space. These LEGO Education sets, named “Mission Moon” (45807) and “Into Orbit”, are to be promoted as the sets used by global participants to the 2018-19 FIRST LEGO League scientific challenge.

This annual worldwide gathering of young scientific innovators from elementary and high-school levels is a collaborative effort between LEGO Education, headed by Esben Stærk Jørgensen, and the international science-tech youth organization FIRST of Dean Kamen. It aims to have the participants compete in basic research to solve a particular worldwide problem, and propose a solution test-built in LEGO.

For the latest upcoming contest period of 2018-2019, FIRST LEGO League will have its entrants work on the principles of Hydro Dynamics, in conjunction with space travel technology. The two contest age groups with each use one of the new LEGO Education sets for their own research and testing challenges.

LEGO Education and FIRST are projecting about 350,000 children from all over the world will be participating in the FIRST LEGO League, with registration scheduled to start on May. They will be divided into two contest age groups, one from 6-10 years old and the other from 9-16 years old.

The two sets for LEGO Education being used in the challenges are compatible with the line’s mechanical app-based WeDo 2.0 Core Set, as well as other LEGO tech products like Mindstorms, which also features in the FIRST LEGO League. Meanwhile, the finals for the 2017-18 challenges are finishing this week.

First Look at the Summer 2018 LEGO Creator Sets

It seems that Amazon France is giving us a head start in showing what LEGO sets to expect for the second half of this year. We already heard some of them, but it’s nice to see them for what they actually are. So while waiting for better, high resolution images, let’s take a look at these new LEGO Creator sets expected to be out in the latter part of the year. I’m personally excited for the Pirate Roller Coaster which I reported since last December. I’m looking forward to how this set managed to make better use of LEGO’s newest track pieces, and the potential that it has for motorized play.

These sets are still listed as temporarily out of stock so I’m not quite sure if Amazon FR posted these too early. But I guess we’ll only find out if they are taken down sooner or later. For now, let’s take a look.
