Earlier this month, Ukraine’s LEGO Catalog gave us a hint on when we can expect the next wave of LEGO Star Wars sets to be released, which are tie-ins to the next Star Wars anthology film, Solo: A Star Wars Story. What we know so far is that this particular LEGO Star Wars theme has currently five sets slated to be released sometime in 2018, a month before the Solo: A Star Wars Story debuts on the big screen on May 25.
Thanks to Rebelscum, we now have a confirmation on when these next LEGO Star Wars sets will exactly rollout. Discovered in the English version of the LEGO Catalog, we have the release date listed by LEGO for the Star Wars Solo sets to be on April 20, 2018.
The news actually first broke out back in July when Brick Fanatics received insider information on the sets’ exact release dates. As it seems, their source is highly reliable. What we don’t know yet are the kind of sets that LEGO has in store for this subtheme. Several leaked images of LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War minifigures have already been posted across various LEGO forums, so it will not take long until we have a hint on what LEGO has in store for Solo.
A few months ago, LEGO introduced two accessory sets filled with unique pieces and elements that you can use to decorate your sprawling LEGO minifigure community. Released sometime in July, the LEGO City Build My City (40170) and LEGO Friends Heartlike City (40264) accessory sets are the first accessory packs that are offered less the minifigures, both retailing for $10 each.
This time around, LEGO seems to be expanding the subtheme by offering once again two additional accessory packs belong to the Disney Princess line. These sets are expected to be available sometime next month and are also expected to retail for $10 each. Check out these official images courtesy of Promo Bricks.
LEGO Disney Princess Accessory Set 1 (40307) – 115 pieces
LEGO Disney Princess Accessory Set 2 (40388) – 80 pieces
I’m not a fan of the Disney Princess theme, but looking at the pieces included in these sets, especially those from set 40307, I must say that LEGO did not spare on adding intricate details on them. I couldn’t figure out exactly if they require stickers to add to those pieces, and it will be very nice indeed if these are actually printed ones. That clock face, in particular, is a pretty valuable and versatile piece that you can use to decorate your next City or Castle project.
These sets are also expected to be available across all LEGO brand stores and at shop.LEGO.com so we’ll keep you posted once we have more information on them.
These days, LEGO has come so very far from being just a toy company producing children’s building-brick sets. They’ve got licenses to adapt from almost every intellectual property imaginable. Their own properties are now multimedia in reach and scale. They even have their own theme parks, the world-famous LEGOLAND chain.
Much like another theme park chain with a major brand name attached to it, LEGOLAND parks have a particular structure oft-used as a centerpiece image, that being a castle. It seems rather overdue for LEGO to make a set depicting one of their structures, but here it is at last.
The LEGOLAND Castle (40306) set is a mostly-gray model building with colorful accents like flag-topped pennants, surrounding greenery and even a dragon head popping out of one wall. The design appears to be mostly based on the LEGOLAND Castle Hotelat the LEGOLAND in Windsor, Berkshire in England, UK.
From the information gleaned by Brickset, the LEGOLAND Castle (40306) set will have 220 pieces and recommended for age 8 and up. Considering the building it’s depicting, the only place where set 40306 can be found would be as an exclusive offering of LEGO shops in the LEGOLAND theme parks.
That’s too bad for LEGO buyers who aren’t within easy travel of the parks or those who rely on Shop@Home instead. Still, there’s a chance that some LEGO brand stores in other theme parks might end up carrying LEGOLAND Hotel (40306) too. Its retail price is likely $9.99 as usual.
It seems that we’re getting our first wave of 2018 LEGO minifigure pods quite early. Just recently, LEGO has uploaded via its servers, several official images of 2018’s LEGO Ninjago Masters Spinjitzu Sons of Garmadon Jay (853758) and Cole (853759) Dojo Pods. If you recall, we have our first LEGO Ninjago Dojo Pod with a Kai minifigure (5004916) last July, and it seems that LEGO is adding more characters to these collectible line of minifigs.
As you can see from the official images below, these pods come in blister type packaging, with each pod featuring a prominent lenticular sticker that shows the character’s ninja mask and designated element. The inside of the pods also features a kendo helmet, training accessories and signature weapons. It should be noted that though Jay and Cole may have the same minifigure torso and legs, the prints on them are new to these series. Frankly, I hope that their actual minifigs are different from one another in terms of color scheme. That will be better and adds more variety to them.

LEGO Ninjago Masters Spinjitzu Sons of Garmadon Cole Pod (853759)
Given that we already have their official images uploaded, we can expect these pods to appear at shop.LEGO.com and in LEGO Brand Stores anytime soon, with a retail price of $8.99 each.
We’re not past Christmas yet, but it seems that LEGO is already setting up the mood for all love-struck AFOLs out there. LEGO has recently uploaded official images of the new seasonal and souvenir sets via its servers, and we now have our first look at the LEGO Valentine’s Day Seasonal Flowers (40187), and the Wedding Favor (40197) sets.
At 100 pieces, the Valentine’s Day Flowers (40187) is expected to retail for $10 and may also come for free when you purchase any LEGO sets from February 7 to 14, 2018 together with the LEGO Wall Calendar’s Voucher #2. Though I like the idea of brick-built flowers as a gift for your special someone, I do hope that LEGO will continue the release of its seasonal vignettes similar to this year. I would love to see a redesign of the Romantic Valentine Picnic (40236) for that matter.
LEGO Seasonal Valentine’s Day Flowers (40187)
The LEGO Wedding Favor (40197) set comes in at 132 pieces, and is by far the best designed iteration of this souvenir. LEGO released two wedding giveaways prior to set 40197, with the first released in 2011 with the Minifigure Wedding Favor Set (853340) and again just last year with a rehash of the Minifigure Wedding set (40165). The latest version is a welcomed one since it incorporates more details and accessories for the minifigures. It is expected to retail for $10 as well.
LEGO Wedding Favor Set (40197)
We’ll keep you posted when this will be available, but my best guess is sometime during the second half of January. Thanks to our friends from Bouw Steentjes for the tip.
Now that Star Wars Episode VIII The Last Jedi has finally landed in theaters across the US, it seems that LEGO has also pulled the veil off from one of its remaining LEGO Star Wars TLJ sets. If you recall, all the sets belonging to this subtheme has been finally revealed, with some of them available starting January 1 – save for one. We still yet to see the LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi First Order AT-ST (75201) up until now. But thanks to LEGO Star Wars fan LegosVidal2016, we now have our first look at the First Order AT-ST coming in at 370 pieces. Vidal says that the LEGO Star Wars First Order AT-ST has been on sale at a particular Toys R Us store.
This particular set is based on the scene where Finn and Rose make their daring escape aboard the First Order Star Destroyer, after they have infiltrated it to hack the ship’s light speed tracking capabilities. This particular AT-ST is partially damaged and when Finn and Rose is caught up in a bind against Captain Phasma and her troops, BB-8 comes to the rescue! It’s quite hilarious to see BB-8 as he tries to operate the damaged AT-ST, but nevertheless he gets the job done. There is also a lift where Rose is positioned as seen in the film, and from the looks of the set’s box art, it seems that this brick-built lift can also move up and down as well. The LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi First Order AT-ST (75201) includes the minifigures of Captain Phasma, Finn and Rose in their First Order officer uniforms, and of course, BB-8. Here’s a closer look at the set’s box art, and given the number pieces, we can assume that this set may retail at around $40.
So what do you think about this latest LEGO TLJ set reveal? Have you spotted the First Order AT-ST (75201) at your local TRU store? Share us a tip or two in the comments below.
We saw them revealed at this year’s San Diego Comic Con earlier in July, and this time, we now have more official images of the first wave of 2018 LEGO DC Superheroes sets scheduled to be available to all on January 1. News has it that these sets are now available at Toys R Us, and if you wish to rake up those VIP points LEGO Shop@Homehas already listed the following sets for pre-order, featuring three new sets from DC comics lore.
January 1 also marks the release of more than 125 LEGO sets slated to be available both online and in-store as mentioned in the LEGO Store January 2018 calendar. These include the latest wave of LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi sets, The LEGO Batman Movie, and Justice League BrickHeadzamong others. So if you still have some holiday cash to spend, then be sure to check out LEGO’s offers when the clock strikes 12 on midnight of December 31.
For now, let’s enjoy these crisp images.

We’ve run through our schedule of major superhero movies for 2017 – notably the ones from the two publishing pillars and their film studio partners/parent companies. Still, that doesn’t mean there’s no more super-heroic fun to be had. There’s plenty of merchandising goodies coming out for them next year to watch out for, and LEGO (naturally) is at the forefront of that wave.
And of course, we here at The Brick Show have helped cover what’s in store for 2018 in the superhero lineup. If the Mighty Microsvehicle-minifigure sets aren’t quite enough to scratch that super-collecting itch, then how about going for something bigger, and with more than two minifigs?
With respect to Marvel, this time it’ll be DC’s turn on the spotlight. Three LEGO DC Super Heroes sets for 2018, first shown back in July’s San Diego Comic Con, are now making appearances at some Toys ‘R’ Us stores before the year even ends. Sounds like what happened with the LEGO Star Wars Sand-speeder (75204) set too.
Here’s a refresher on the three LEGO DC sets in question:
Superman & Krypto Team-Up (76096) – with Superman, Lobo and Krypto minifigures; includes Lobo’s space-hog and kryptonite containment cell
Lex Luthor Mech Takedown (76097) – with Batman, Wonder Woman, Firestorm, Lex Luthor and Cheetah minifigures; includes Luthor power armor and Bat-Glider
Speed Force Freeze Pursuit (76098) – with Flash, Cyborg, Killer Frost and Reverse Flash minifigures; includes CyborgCopter and Killer Frost’s Ice Car
Earlier this month, the LEGO Store January 2018 Calendar revealed a promotional, commemorative set that celebrates the 60th patent anniversary of the 2×4 LEGO brick. The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) is the next gift-with-purchase set expected to be popular among faithful LEGO set collectors. Coming in at 421 pieces, this free promotional set is expected to be available in the US from January 28 until February 14, 2018, for a minimum single-receipt purchase of LEGO products worth $125 and above. I think it should be noted that there is a typo error in this portion of the calendar since it mentions that this promotional item will be available starting January 28, 2017, so I hope LEGO will clear this one up.
The 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) set highlights four mini versions of some of the most iconic LEGO sets, such as Airport Shuttle (6399), Castle (375), Black Seas Barracuda (6285), and Space Cruiser and Moonbase (928). To cap it off, LEGO is also throwing in the highly collectible, commemorative 60th Anniversary Tile, a white 2×4 tile printed with the 60th-anniversary logo. Check out these official images which LEGO has recently uploaded to its servers. This set is expected to be very popular among AFOLs, so be sure to take advantage of this promotional set once it goes live in the US on January 28, 2018.
60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290)
Celebrate 6 decades of building fun with 4 micro versions of the most iconic LEGO® builds of the past 60 years, comprising the awesome Airport Shuttle, famous Yellow Castle, Black Seas Barracuda, and the Galaxy Explorer, plus a printed commemoratory tile.
Last month we have a small bit of news regarding the latest sets coming out for LEGO’s automobile-themed Speed Champions line, which were set to come out next year. The information we got was merely that there will be six new Speed Champions sets, along with their product number and the brand of the car.
At last we have some further clarification on the new additions to LEGO Speed Champions. Listed now are the updated names with the model of each car set to be released in 2018. There have been hints that these six sets are only the first wave for the following year, so LEGO gearheads should watch out for more Speed Champions on the way.
