LEGO City Passenger Train (60197) and Cargo Train (60198) Official Images Released

LEGO never fails to remind us why they’re the best at helping children and builders of other ages to put together the city of their dreams. All through May, they’ve wowed us with one new LEGO City set announcement after another, from “capital” city centers to hospitals to railway lines.

That last part was already revealed last week, in the form of two LEGO City train sets, the Passenger Train (60197) and Cargo Train (60198). We got good photos of the two sets fully assembled, and now PromoBricks is showing us how they’re going to officially look in the packaging.lego 60197 city 2

It’s already been established that 60197 and 60198 both come with Power Functions 2.0 to make them go on their tracks, and they come with a new remote control scheme that, as the previous update already stated, will give operators fine-tuned controls over the Passenger and Cargo Trains once the Power Functions gets them rolling.

The LEGO City Passenger Train (60197) comes in at 677 pieces and will retail for $159.99, while the LEGO City Cargo Train (60198) will have 1,226 pieces and will have a price tag of $229.99. Both sets will be available in August.

New LEGO BrickHeadz for “Ghostbusters” Coming: Peter Venkman & Slimer 2-Pack

So yeah, we’ve got that release of LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz down, but it looks like that’s not the last of it for today. There’s another piece of BrickHeadz news that came out, but thus far all it has is confirmation that this set exists and will be coming soon.

If you thought Harry Potter was a blast from the past, this one goes back a decade or two more. It’s none other than a BrickHeadz set for Ghostbusters, that awesome 1984 comedy spook film that started a modest but memorable franchise for Columbia Pictures (including that “divisive” 2016 remake).

Yes it’s only one set, but it has two characters that really count: Dr. Peter Venkman (Bill Murray) and the Busters’ first trapped ghost-turned-ally/pet/something, Slimer. As you can see from the BrickHeadz details, Peter just got slimed, referencing the hotel where they caught Slimer. He’s armed with his proton pack while the green ghost has his trademark favorite food: hotdogs.

And that’s about it; we don’t even get a LEGO set number for the new Ghostbusters BrickHeadz 2-pack. If it’s anything like the Harry Potter releases though, we can expect it to cost anywhere from $14.99 to $19.99, so for now we just keep an eye out, hopefully more info on this’ll come our way.

Three New LEGO BrickHeadz Sets for “Harry Potter” of “Wizarding World”

Information on new LEGO Wizarding World stuff seems to be picking up again this week. After that little tease they did putting the flying Ford Anglia from Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets in a banner supposed to be advertising LEGO Elves on their website, more reveals were on its way.

This time it’s in the form of LEGO Harry Potter BrickHeadz, three sets for the wave. We’ve got a couple of 2-packs and one solo, all of well-known characters that we’ve missed seeing (in their prime) for so long. So let’s take a look at them.

Harry Potter and Hedwig (41615) 2-pack for $14.99

Here’s 180 pieces to put together The Boy Who Lived and his trusty snowy white owl. I’m pretty sure you’re having flashbacks to the books and films about their partnership and its tragically symbolic end; so why not grab a memorial set?

41615

41615 1

Hermione Granger (41616) for $9.99

Take home the smartest and most Muggle-awesome witch in the franchise with this solo BrickHeadz set, 127 pieces in all. With her trusty wand and a handy wizarding reference book, Hermione’s ready to solve all puzzles, take on dark threats and fight for magical rights.

41616

41616 1

Ron Weasley & Albus Dumbledore (41621) for $19.99

Complete the Golden Trio with this 2-pack BrickHeadz set, and with their wise if complexity-obsessed mentor, the Headmaster of Hogwarts School. Use the 245 pieces to assemble Ron and Professor Dumbledore and get ready to take on Voldemort and his Death Eaters. By the way, this one is a Target exclusive BrickHeadz!

Toys R Us France “Solo” Tie-In Make & Take Event May 19: Build the Millennium Falcon

You probably haven’t forgotten, but just in case we won’t fail to remind you: the second Star Wars Story film Solo, is premiering next week (after its world premiere last week). LEGO and its retailers have already made plans for the hype, like in Europe with Les Ateliers de Geoffrey, aka Toys R Us France.

As part of the many promotional tie-ins for Solo: A Star Wars Story the world over, Toys R Us France is setting aside this coming Saturday, May 19, for a Make & Take building event. The subject is a classic one: the Faucon Millennium/Millennium Falcon.

That’s right; in the spirit of past Star Wars-themed Make & Take events with Toys R Us, guests this Saturday will get a chance to put together 44 bricks to create the most famous spaceship of the whole franchise. Unfortunately it’ll be in the “old/drab” colors rather than the “new paint-job” color scheme from Solo.

Information on this Make & Take Event at Toys R Us France was provided by French LEGO site Hoth Bricks, which also includes images of the official building instructions for the Millennium Falcon to be built at the event, if you can’t make it Saturday.

LEGO Solo Falcon Make Take

For French Toys R Us shoppers who wish to participate in the Solo tie-in Make & Take, they need only to head to their local Toys R Us France store on May 19 after lunchtime, from 2:30 to 5:30PM. Here’s hoping you enjoy the building.

LEGO Elves Banner on LEGO.com Teases a New LEGO Ford Anglia from “Harry Potter” of the “Wizarding World” Franchise

Back in early April, LEGO opened up a new section on LEGO.com, dedicated to prospective tie-in merchandise to Warner Bros. and JK Rowling’s Wizarding World multimedia franchise, covering Harry Potter and the Fantastic Beasts prequels. Over a month later, there’s still no content on the page, but that might change.

Interestingly, the spoiler of a new Harry Potter set was made on a banner for one of LEGO’s original product lines, Elves. A banner on the Elves section has a blurb describing the action on one of the upcoming 2018 sets, but the accompanying image…is a familiar flying Ford Anglia.

Said vehicle, prominent in the second Potter book/film The Chamber of Secrets, has already appeared in past LEGO sets such as Escape from Privet Drive (4728) and Hogwarts Express (4841). This Anglia, with Harry and Ron minifigures naturally, might figure in any one of two new sets coming this year: Aragog in the Forbidden Forest (75950) and Whomping Willow (75953).

Now, whether or not these new updates on 2018 Wizarding World LEGO sets will be put on their dedicated theme page any time soon, we’ll just have to wait and see. Goodness knows; there’s so many of them announced already.

Bear Parker of Traveller’s Tales Makes Tribute LEGO Intro of Sitcom “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” In Wake of Fox Cancellation and NBC Renewal

The five seasons that Brooklyn Nine-Nine enjoyed ever since premiering on Fox in 2013 shows that there’s still a significant audience for police procedural sitcoms. One of these fans is Bear Parker, Community Manager for TT Games Global. So upon hearing of the show’s cancellation, he was spurred to act.

Upon hearing Fox’s decision to cancel Brooklyn Nine-Nine on May 10, Parker decided to make a tribute to the sitcom starring Andy Samberg, by recreating the show’s intro in 3D LEGO animation. Why is this? It’s because TT Games Global is Traveller’s Tales, developer of LEGO videogames through WB Interactive.

Of course, rendering 3D animation is a lengthy and involved process, even if the finished product (see below) is only 20 seconds long. By the time Parks was done, it was May 11 and there was great news: NBC has picked up Brooklyn Nine-Nine for Season 6 with their network.

And with that, Bear Parker’s tribute to the end of the police sitcom was turned into a celebration that Brooklyn Nine-Nine will carry on with the comic misadventures of the people at NYPD 99th Precinct. This is also the latest of Parker’s personal 3D-animated recreations, seen at his YouTube Channel.

In a stroke of coincidence, Brooklyn Nine-Nine’s star Andy Samberg co-wrote the theme song of 2014’s The LEGO Movie, nominated at the Oscars for Best Song. While that doesn’t necessarily mean a future LEGO Brooklyn Nine-Nine game, it’s fun to imagine. Brooklyn Nine-Nine Season 6 premieres on NBC in 2019.

Make Your Own LEGO Star Wars Porgs With These Building Instructions

Star Wars Day celebrations may all well be over, and in case you missed out on one of the LEGO Store highlights during May the 4th which is the Porg Make and Take Build Event, you’ll be pleased to know that here’s your chance to build one of your own. Thanks to Brickset, the building instructions to create this Porg are now available online for everyone to try. So while we’re waiting to see if the UCS-like Porg (75230) will really happen in October, try to see if you have the necessary parts to build this portable avian cutie.

parts porg 1 Page 1

As far as I see it, these parts may be readily available in any moderately-sized LEGO collection, except probably for the new, Roof Rock Tile 4x 4 w/ Angle which can only be found in 7 LEGO sets released last year. Nevertheless, we can always improvise, and the lack of these parts will not affect the main part of the build which is the Porg itself. Take a look at the building instructions below and give it a try. Alternatively, you can download these instructions in PDF format right here. Thanks again to Brickset for making sure that there will be enough brick-built Porgs to go around. Happy building!

LEGO Ninjago Dragon Hunter (30547) Polybag Found

It looks like LEGO Ninjago’s latest subtheme will also have a polybag of its own. After the reveal of its initial summer wave of LEGO Ninjago Free the Dragons sets which is based on the TV show’s Season 9 offering, it looks like LEGO has thrown in a polybag set to go along with it.

This particular LEGO Ninjago Dragon Hunter (30547) polybag was found listed on eBay, and it looks like it features a unique Dragon Hunter minifigure not found in any of the seven sets originally revealed. There is no other information listed on the eBay posting regarding this polybag, but it is likely that it is made up of 50-60 pieces. I like the clever use of the LEGO Nexo Knights swords on the dragon’s legs and tail, and the over white color scheme of the dragon’s build. We don’t have any release date or price point as of the moment, but we’re sure to keep you posted once more info comes in.

On a similar note, the Japanese magazine CoroCoro has just shared via its YouTube channel a teaser for the Ninja’s next adventure in the realm of Oni and Dragons. Though it is dubbed in Japanese, I have to say that there are some spoilers ahead so be warned. Thanks to Brick Samurai for the tip.
