Avengers: Infinity War Official Full Trailer Has Finally Arrived!

Just a few minutes the full, official trailer of Avengers: Infinity War has finally arrived on the internet. I’m literally lost for words for each particular scene, except the sheer admiration for the Disney and Marvel’s ingenuity of bring these vast array of superheroes – with all their seriousness and quirkiness.

Oh, I almost fell from my seat seeing Cap backhandedly stopped Thanos supersized punch – and mind you, the purple giant was actually surprised himself. Well, enough with the comments. Let’s watch this.

LEGO Teases on the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy (21314)

LEGO Ideas’ social media channels have released a teaser video announcing the arrival of the upcoming LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy (21314). We already know what to expect from the set thanks to the first image that we have of its box art. The set features two iconic light cycles based on the follow-up sequel TRON: Legacy released in 2010.

This set was conceptualized by BrickBros UK, and garnered the necessary support of LEGO fans, and approval of the LEGO Ideas Team during the first 2017 LEGO Ideas Review Stage. As typical of these kind of teasers, LEGO was scant on the details, but we can expect some official images anytime soon before its release next month. Will keep you posted anytime soon so be sure to keep us under your radar.

Another LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom Set Surfaced – T. rex Transport (75933)

It looks like we have another brick dino on the loose. After the reveal of two, additional LEGO Jurasssic World: Fallen Kingdom sets, it seems that LEGO has another one in store for us. Posted via eBay, we now know that there will be another set slated to be released sometime next month or mid-May. The LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom T. rex Transport (75933) comes in at 609 pieces, and particularly highlights that scene in the film where the team of Zia Rodriguez (played by Daniella Pineda) tries to restrain the mighty T. Rex. Thankfully, littledanish0714 managed to post several images of the set on eBay. Take a look.

The set comes with a T. Rex big fig,  a baby dino microfig, Zia Rodriguez (with dual molded legs) and two transport Guards. Though the trailer truck isn’t exactly on minifig scale, and the T. Rex’ cage is not that big as it looks as we saw from the trailers, it still looks decent with its blue and gray colors. The set also comes with a computer workstation and some accessories that we really don’t know the purpose, until we see them used in the film.

This particular LEGO Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom T. rex Transport (75933) set is listed in an inflated cost of $120 over at eBay, but it is expected that this set will retail in stores for around $70 USD. As a side note, the T. Rex in this set may also look the same as that of the T. Rex featured in the LEGO Juniors T. Rex Breakout (10758), but a closer comparison reveals that these Jurassic bigfigs have different printings. So if you’re a completionist and would like to have all of these dinos under this theme, then I suggest that you keep an eye on this new one as well.

New LEGO Rebrick Contest: LEGO Friends “Customize Your Go-Kart” and Win Official Friends Go-Kart Sets

The last LEGO Rebrick competition, to have a winning MOC design be put on display at Billund’s Home of the Brick in Denmark, will not be closing until next month. But already they’ve got a new contest up and running, this one involving a very specific product line: LEGO Friends.

Several other LEGO themes have already played with having buildable go-kart vehicles for their constituent minifigures, but this 2018 is the first time the Friends line will be focusing on this same gimmick. Now Rebrick is inviting interested builders to get really creative with the Friends girls and go-karts.

The rules are simple. Contestants need only to build a go-kart scene with LEGO Friends minifigures and building elements on an 8×12-stud base. It can be an interpretation of a Friends character’s go-kart, or have the minifigures act out a skit with a MOC go-kart, or even create a racetrack mock-up.

As this Rebrick contest is all about LEGO Friends, the rules stipulate that the resulting brick-and-minifigure vignettes must star any or all of the Friends girls (Olivia, Mia, Andrea, Emma, Stephanie) and relate to the Heartlake City setting. No 3rd party properties must be included in the Rebrick competition entries.

There will be three winners for this contest. Two runners-up will win four of the promised official LEGO Friends Go-Kart Racing sets ($150 value), and a choice of up to $200 worth of LEGO products on shop.LEGO.com. The grand winner will get 12 2018 Friends sets including the Go-Kart ones ($430 value), their choice of $600 worth of items in shop.LEGO.com, and a special trophy courtesy of the LEGO Friends design team. The prize sets will be delivered once available.

This Rebrick competition will last until May 2, plenty of time for entries to pile up. Visit the Rebrick contest page here for more details, and to see the entries that have already been passed.

Target Brings Back Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) Minifigure for Spring Promo

It’s an early Easter this 2018. (And it falls on April Fools, too!) We’ve already gotten a look at the Iconic Easter minifigure giveaway for this year, set 5005249 or the “Easter bunny costume guy”. But for those who missed one from past years, they might want to check Target.

A new spring promotion is being rolled out by Target, with a past Iconic Easter minifigure as the prize of sorts. This is the Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) that’s been a giveaway several times past. This time around, he’ll be available to Target shoppers purchasing LEGO sets with the REDCard.

Here’s how it goes. Shoppers on Target need to buy a minimum of $20 worth in selected LEGO sets by the retailer (this doesn’t include DUPLO or “Hard to Find” items). With the minimum purchase price and a REDCard, Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) will then be added to the cart.

Then again, if Target shoppers aren’t down with this spring promo, they can buy the 5004468 for $5.99 per piece. Do note however that, as an old minifigure, supplies of Chicken Suit Guy at Target stores will be limited. This promo ends next week on Saturday, March 24 11:59 PST.

Toys R Us Will Be Closing All Its US Stores

This is one piece of news that I wish to avoid, but I guess we need to address the elephant in the room. Since the news broke out that Toys R Us have filed for bankruptcy last September, followed by the underwhelming holiday sales, and now, with the recent liquidation of its UK branches, everything is now downhill for the retail giant.

Just a few moments ago, The Wall Street Journal reported that Toys R Us employees in the US were officially informed that the struggling retailer will now be closing all of its US stores which will threaten the livelihood of 33,000 jobs once it’s 700 and more US stores finally shuts down. The sad news was given by TRU Chief Executive David Brandon at the company’s Wayne, N.J. headquarters. Liquidation papers will be filed Wednesday evening, setting things in motion before the bankruptcy hearing on Thursday.

“I have always believed that this brand and this business should exist in the U.S.,” Brandon disclosed on a follow-up conference call with staff. He partly puts the blame to retailers and customers who shopped elsewhere during the holiday season and added that everyone will feel TRU’s absence. They “will all live to regret what’s happening here,” Mr. Brandon said.

Other than closing all of its UK and US stores, Toys R Us will also cease operation of its stores in other parts of the world such as in France, Spain, Poland, and Australia. It’s also looking forward to selling its operations in Canada, Central Europe, and Asia. They are virtually shutting everything down, as Brandon puts it.

There are many reasons cited for TRU’s demise, both external and internal such as the tight online competition among other retail giants like Amazon, Walmart, and Target. Consumer behavior has also changed dramatically where more and more consumers are getting accustomed to buying things online. Couple that with billions of dollars of debt accumulated through the years, then this is a very sad case indeed of how a once-mighty giant has fallen.

Our hearts go to the thousands of TRU employees who are now facing an uncertain future, to the AFOLs who have TRU as a significant part of their childhood, and for the next generation who will never know what it means to have the “walking into a TRU store” experience.

How do you feel about TRU’s US stores closing down? What’s the status in your local TRU store? Share your thoughts and comments below.

First Look At the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Lightcycle (21314)

Last week, LEGO’s Italian store calendar teased on the arrival of the next LEGO Ideas set that will grace the shelves of LEGO Stores in April. This time, we have our first look at the ‘unofficial’ box art of the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Lightcycle (21314) which was shared by one of the readers of Candid Bricks.

LEGO Ideas TRON 1

I opted to call it ‘unofficial’ because a closer inspection of the above image reveals that the uploader tweaked on some portions of the box art – the edges of the box were roughly covered up, including the details beside the LEGO Ideas logo on the bottom right of the box. However, multiple sources have confirmed that this is definitely the box art for the TRON set, regardless if the image were modified or not.

What thrills me the most about this upcoming LEGO Ideas set is the fact that we will be getting not just one, but two Light Cycles and both are in minifigure scale. The box art image also suggests that the light trail from the back of the lightcycle will actually be a LEGO piece and not just an added prop for the box art. The identity discs from the films were also faithfully replicated using existing lifesaver moulds but with a different color scheme and a cool prints.

We do not have additional information as of the moment regarding details such as pricing and piece count, but we’ll sure to update you once new info comes in. So what do you think of the LEGO Ideas TRON: Legacy Lightcycle (21314)? Will this be a Day 1 pick for you?

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash Now Available on DVD and Blu-Ray

It was first announced, with trailer, back in December of last year; and last month, the latest in LEGO, DC Entertainment and Warner Bros. Animation’s vast library of direct-to-video films was finally released on digital format. Next, LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash releases on DVD/Blu-Ray Tuesday, March 13.

An official synopsis also lays out the general plot of this film. Barry Allen/Flash (voiced by James Arnold Taylor) finds himself trapped in a sinister “groundhog loop” when his super-villain antithesis Reverse-Flash (Dwight Schultz) manipulates their shared power source – the Speed Force – to make Flash relive the same day indefinitely!

Finally the scenes from the official trailer make some sense with the storyline. The more times Flash goes through the looped day, the worst it gets for him. From getting fired from the Justice League to losing his super-speed, Barry must think fast before the time loop ends him, permanently.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes: The Flash is also supposed to be the 3D-animated debut of certain DC Comics super heroes and support characters. Among them are The Atom (Eric Bauza), the squirrel-alien Green Lantern B’dg (also Bauza), super-pets Ace the Bat-Hound and Krypto and even Aquaman’s seahorse mount, Storm.

With a running time of 78 minutes, LDCSH: The Flash is now available on all current video formats in the US, while the DVD/Blu-Ray versions will release over at the UK two Mondays from now, on March 26.

Uniqlo LEGO 60th Anniversary Shirts Now Available

Last Month, Uniqlo has announced its renewed partnership with LEGO in coming up with a series of commemorative graphic tees in celebration of the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick. Though this is not the first time that LEGO entered in such a partnership with Uniqlo, it is expected that this latest line of LEGO inspired shirts will be a sure hit among AFOLs for all its call back and references.

As it turned out, just a few days after Uniqlo updated its website to include this selection of LEGO anniversary themed shirts, it looks like stocks are starting to dwindle. As of this posting, Uniqlo’s site shows that stocks of some of these sought after shirts, particularly those for adults, are now becoming low. So if you haven’t purchased one yet, and would like to have a piece of LEGO’s anniversary celebrations with you, I suggest you head over to Uniqlo’s site and place your order now.

Here are some of my personal favorites, and hopefully to have one once our local Uniqlo store puts them on shelves.

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 18 (71021) Box Distribution and Checklist

Now that the cat is out of the bag regarding the official reveal LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 18 (71021), it’s time to ask that ever nagging question: what are the odds of getting my faved minifigure from the series? As you all know by now, this 40th anniversary LEGO minifigure commemorative series comes with 17 minifigs to collect, and like other CMF series, knowing how much of each minifig inside the box will help you understand the odds of feeling your way through each of them.

A couple of days ago, The Brick Fan managed to grab hold of an entire Series 18 box and here’s what we know regarding how this minifigure series is distributed. For starters, each Series 18 box contain 61 blind bags – and if you find it odd why LEGO has arranged it as such, because they opted to throw in a sort of ‘chase’ figure within the batch. Before we go with the disctribution, here’s how the minifig checklist looks like.

CMF Series 18 checklist

Though the checklist highlights all of the 17 minifigures in this series, as expected, not all of them are distributed equally inside each box. LEGO even went as far this time of adding only ONE blind bag for a particular minifig. Check out the box distribution below.

5 in a box
  • LEGO Red Brick Suit Guy (#2)
  • LEGO Blue Brick Suit Girl (#3)
4 in a box
  • Elephant Suit Girl (#1)
  • Fireworks/Rocket Guy (#5)
  • Red Dragon Suit Guy (#7)
  • Spider Suit Guy (#9)
  • Birthday Cake Guy (#10)
  • Flowerpot Girl (#14)
  • Cowboy Suit Guy (#15)
  • Blue Unicorn Knight (#17)
3 in a box
  • Elephant Suit Girl (#1)
  • Party Clown (#4)
  • Birthday Party Girl (#7)
  • Cactus Girl (#11)
  • Cat Suit Girl (#12)
  • Race Car Guy (#13)
  • Birthday Party Boy (#16)

And finally, as you may have noticed already, the chase minifigure is the Classic Policeman minifigure which is only found once per box. Though younger LEGO fans will probably not mind the generic policeman minifig, older AFOLs sure understands the value of this classic little guy which is a re-release of the minifigure included in LEGO Classic Town Police Car (600-2) in 1978. Interestingly, 1978 also corresponds to the year when the first LEGO minifigures were introduced. So if you’re looking forward in collecting the entire Series 18 range, then you should be open to the possibility that grabbing the Classic Policeman in this series might be extremely difficult. The fact is, the only way to be assured of having the Classic Policeman, is if you will opt to buy the entire box set.

If you’re not the completionist type and is comfortable with the idea of having the rest of the Series 18 minifigs less the Classic Policeman, then you’ll be glad to know that you can come up with at least 3 sets of the other 16 minifigs to share with your friends, and with a couple of more to spare.

So what do you think about LEGO’s move of adding a sort of chase minifigure in this series? Are you OK with this? Share what you think in the comments below.
