LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Justice League Official Images Released!

Just a few days ago since we had a sneak peek of the latest LEGO DC Superheroes sets via the German LEGO Catalogue (June to December, 2017), LEGO has now released the official images and product descriptions of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Justice League. These sets are based on the several super-powered, action-packed scenes of Warner Bros’ highly anticipated film, Justice League. With the exception of those of the Flying Fox: Batmobile Airlift Attack (76087), the rest of the sets’ images allows us to have a better look at the finer details of each set, especially the nicely done minifigs. Speaking of minifigures, it seems that the only way to complete the entire JL ensemble is to purchase all the sets, which will be available in the US starting August 1. Let’s take a look.

Another SDCC 2017 Exclusive LEGO Set Has Been Revealed: the LEGO BrickHeadz DC Supergirl and Martian Manhunter (41496).

Following yesterday’s reveal of the SDCC 2017 LEGO Brickheadz Marvel Spider-Man and Venom (41497), another pair of superheroes has been given the BrickHeadz treatment, drawing inspiration from CW’s rendition of these DC characters. As reported by Comicbook.com, the LEGO BrickHeadz DC Supergirl and Martian Manhunter (41496), both numbered 13 and 14 respectively, will be exclusively available at this year’s SDCC from July 21 to 23. Here’s a peek at what you can expect from the set.

LEGO® BrickHeadz construction characters bring you a brand new way to collect, build and display iconic characters from your favorite movies, TV series, games and comics.

Buildable Supergirl and Martian Manhunter LEGO® BrickHeadz construction characters feature authentic detailing, uniquely decorated BrickHeadz eyes, and a display baseplate. This exclusive LEGO BrickHeadz set comes in at 234 pieces and will retail at $40 when purchased at the LEGO Booth at SDCC. This is a much better offer as compared to aftermarket prices which can soar up to more than a hundred dollars. Same as with last year’s lottery system, those who are interested to buy this set and other SDCC LEGO BrickHeadz exclusive must first visit the Pavillion Terrace to enter a random drawing which will begin at 6AM on July 21. Once your ticket has been selected, you can then proceed to the LEGO Booth to make your qualified purchase.

For those who cannot attend the SDCC (including myself), you still have the chance of having your very own SDCC LEGO BrickHeadz set by following LEGO’s official Twitter account and the hashtag #LEGOSDCC. Both Comicbook.com and Brickset have confirmed the said contest, so be sure to follow LEGO on Twitter and other social media sites for the full mechanics and details.

First Look at the LEGO Creator Expert London Bus (10258).

A couple of weeks ago, we received information that the next LEGO Creator D2C set will pay tribute to one of London’s iconic attractions. The LEGO Creator Expert London Bus (10258), also referred to as the Double Decker Bus, is July’s exclusive direct-to-consumer set which will be available for early VIP access from July 17-31, as teased in LEGO’s July Store Calendar, and LEGO fans in China and London may have the privilege of seeing this set earlier.

Based on our brick intel, a special event in all of 5 LEGO Stores in London within the M25 area is slated to take place on July 1 this Saturday, with the unveiling of the LEGO Creator Expert London Bus as its highlight. According to our sources, all 5 LEGO Stores in London will offer the abovementioned set retailing for £109.99 that also comes with a free gift upon purchase. Set 10258 is said to be at a minifig scale so it is interesting to see how this set will turn out.

london bus lego creator 10258 1

Speaking of how it looks like, it seems that we don’t need to assume any longer. Promobricks recently reported that an image of a LEGO Store flyer in China for the months of July and August, 2017 is now making rounds over at Reddit. The image was shared by dylanchow over the anonymous file/image sharing platform. According to the Reddit post, the LEGO Creator Expert London Bus (10258) will come in 1,680 pieces measuring at 18 cm. in height, 34 cm. long and 13 cm. wide. It is reported to be at a minifigure scale, so this is one model that will perfectly house your minifigure passengers and tourist. Also seen on the flyer is the largest LEGO Minecraft set to date – The Mountain Cave (21137).

10258

Since July 1 is just around the corner, we can expect LEGO’s official press release and images of the LEGO Creator Expert London Bus (10258) to be up anytime soon. This D2C set is expected to be available to the general public starting August 1 retailing in the US for $119.99.

SDCC 2017’s Exclusive LEGO Set Will Be the LEGO BrickHeadz Marvel Spider-Man and Venom (41497).

With just three weeks to go before the largest comic fan convention on the planet kicks in, The Hollywood Reporter has revealed that this year’s San Diego Comic Con LEGO exclusive is none other than the LEGO BrickHeadz Marvel Spider-Man and Venom (41497). These chibi-sized versions of the most popular names in comic book fandom have been quite popular recently. From Star Wars to Disney’s Inside Out, virtually all of your favorite characters can be given the LEGO BrickHeadz treatment.

Last 2016’s SDCC saw the debut of these fun, brick-built character sets that pay tribute to some of the icons of the comic book industry, including Superman & Wonder Woman (41490), Batman & Joker (41491), Iron Man & Captain America (41492), and Black Panther & Doctor Strange (41493). In continuing with the trend, LEGO will once more offer these exclusive BrickHeadz collectibles starting with our friendly neighborhood web-slinger and the alien symbiote Venom. Check out these images courtesy of THR.

lego brick headz spioderman lego brick headz venom

Interestingly, the set number for this upcoming set (41497) suggests that this may just be the fourth in a series of SDCC 2017 LEGO Brick Headz that will be offered. We just have to wait and see if the gaps for set nos. 41494 to 41496 will also be revealed in connection to this year’s San Diego Comic Con.

Same as before, not all SDCC attendees may be able to avail of these highly popular exclusives. A lottery system will be set in place to determine who is eligible to purchase the 144-piece set retailing at $40 each from July 19 to 23, as THR reports.

Because the demand for exclusive Lego items has skyrocketed over the past few years (these items are only available for purchase on the Con), the company has instituted a lottery system. Attendees must first visit the Pavilion Terrace to participate in a random drawing to qualify to buy beginning as early as 6 a.m. Tickets to purchase must be redeemed on the same day or the purchase is forfeited.

Well, I think it’s about time that Spidey and Venom gets the LEGO BrickHeadz treatment.  So what do you say about these latest SDCC 2017 LEGO exclusives?  Who’s your bet to be added to this year’s BrickHeadz roster. Let us know in the comments below and join in the discussion at our official Facebook page.

Here’s A Look at Some of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Justice League Sets.

Last month, we ran an article that shows how Warner Bros.’ next big DCEU instalment will look like in LEGO bricks. Thanks to a report (a.k.a. leak) by Nerdist News, we saw how key scenes in the DC Comics superhero film, Justice League, will play out and as it translates in LEGO pieces. Though the leaked LEGO set images have been circulating across all major LEGO blog and entertainment sites during that time, the powers-that-be saw it fit to put a lid on the issue and have asked us to remove our post on the said leaks and to send it to oblivion.

However, after more than a month of being mum about these sets, Promobricks finally broke the silence when it reported that the official German LEGO Catalogue for the second half of 2017 has been finally released. It is interesting to note that this most recent LEGO catalogue highlights some of the most anticipated films of the year which includes, as you may have guessed, Warner Bros.’ Justice League. Just in time for the film’s theatrical release on November 17, the July-December LEGO Catalogue features three LEGO sets dedicated to some of the key points of the film and some interesting twists as well.

WARNING: In case you haven’t read anything yet about any JL-related news, the following may present some relatively mild spoilers. I understand that this piece of news may either be exciting or disappointing due to some potential spoilers and depending on how you look at it. So if you’re not into this kind of stuff, then I highly encourage you to press the back button now (but of course, you may check the rest of our news and reviews). So with that being said, here we go.

First, we have the Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack (76086) which takes its cue from Batman’s latest addition of high-powered vehicles. We already caught a glimpse of the new Batride in action as it was revealed in a particular tunnel scene in the trailer. Knowing how much LEGO loves the Dark Knight and all of his gadgets and weaponry, it is a not a long shot to guess that the Knightcrawler may actually turn out to be an official LEGO set. As it turned out it is no longer a speculation.

lego katalog 2hy2017 3

The Knightcrawler is designed as a rough terrain vehicle of some sorts that can even maneuver in tight spaces as we saw in the trailer. However, the reveal of the Knightcrawler Tunnel Attack set image shows the reason why Batman is in the tunnels in the first place. As we can see, he is in pursuit of several Parademons and he is not alone in his assault. He is eventually joined and backed up by the Flash, whose minifigure version sports a new torso design similar to how he looks like in the film.

Next we have the Battle of Atlantis (76085) set that features Jason Momoa’s Aquaman  minifig. We have a hunch before that a particular scene from the underwater realm of the sea king will probably get the thumbs up from LEGO HQ’s top brass – and again as it turned out, our predictions came true. The set doesn’t really offer much of a spoiler since it is most likely that the Parademons are not just out there to wreck havoc above ground, but also under the sea as well.

lego katalog 2hy2017 2

Finally, we have what could be the biggest spoiler of a LEGO set of them all as far as the League is concerned. The Flying Fox: Batmobile Airlift Attack (76087) is by far the biggest set among the three, one with the most number of minifigs, and with the most epic reveal.

lego katalog 2hy2017 4

The Man of Steel is definitely back and he knows clearly where he stands. Warner Bros. kept a tight seal around the details of what happened next after Superman’s apparent death in Batman VS Superman, to the extent that early character posters of the League’s members did not include our hero from Smallville. 76087 offers solid evidence that Superman will indeed be back to kick some alien baddies. Another juicy reveal that comes from the set is our first look on the film’s main villain. Though DC’s Extended Universe has already teased on the overarching involvement of Darkseid as DCEU’s main villain, we get to see that it is Steppenwolf who will be on the frontlines (maybe). What is interesting about this set, as noted by Nerdist News, is the fact that the box art itself may suggest that this fight is not taking place on Earth but on Darkseid’s home turf: Apokalips. The hint comes from the alien-like jagged skyline that appears on the background of set 76087’s box art, very much unlike that of Gotham’s or Metropolis as we see them in earlier DCEU films.

Another interesting piece of ‘spoiler’ that these LEGO DC Superheroes Justice League sets offer is the unmistakable presence of the Apokoliptan hardware, the enigmatic Mother Boxes. Each set offers a different kind of Mother Box, with the previous Batman VS Superman film revealing how Cyborg is closely linked to one of them. It is interesting to see how these sentient super devices will play a very important role in JL’s over all plot.

In any case, since the official LEGO Catalogue is now out, we’ll get more information about these sets (and hopefully more about the film) once LEGO officially reveal them next month and are made available to the general public in August. So what do you think brick fans? Are you excited about these sets as you are about the film? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO Announces The LEGO Ninjago Movie garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! Set

It seems that LEGO still has something tucked under its sleeves as far the LEGO Ninjago Movie sets are concerned.  Earlier today, LEGO announced via a press release that another retailer exclusive set will debut under the LNM theme. The said press release mentioned that there are a total of 15 building sets under the LEGO Ninjago Movie pipeline, the last being a Toys R Us exclusive slated to be released on December 1.

garmadon screengrab 1 garmadon screengrab

The LEGO Ninjago Movie  garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! set is a direct reference to Garmadon’s fearsome shark mech as seen in the trailer terrorizing the hapless civilians of Ninjago City. Though we don’t have further information yet as far as the piece count and official images of this set are concerned, the set’s pricing and description as provided in the press release will somehow give us an idea how this set will look like.

garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! – fans help Lloyd save hotdog guy and braces girl from the Garmadon Shark Mech, which features two opening cockpits, snapping jaws, posable legs and feet and two spring-loaded shooters. Available exclusively at Toys”R”Us stores nationwide. ($79.99)

garmadon screengrab 2 garmadon screengrab 4

Considering its price point, it’s fair to say that it will probably be close to the same minfig scale as seen in the film. Looking at the entire LEGO Ninjago Movie line as it was revealed a couple of days back, I am impressed that LEGO somehow managed to have its brick-built mechs close to a minifig scale as possible. They may not be as highly detailed and articulated as compared to their big screen counterparts, but given their price point and piece count, and considering that it is an original LEGO theme without the pitfalls of third party licensing, LEGO did a very good job designing and packaging these sets.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie is scheduled to arrive in theaters on September 22, with its first wave of sets slated to be released sometime in August. Thanks to The Brick Fan for the heads up.

We Finally Get To Meet All of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigures!

We saw the first half of the LEGO Ninjago Movie CMF yesterday, and today the reveal has finally come full circle when LEGO unveiled the rest of its collectible minifigures line for its next big, brick-built film. Revealed via social media, the second half of the LEGO Ninjago Movie CMF also highlights the rest of the film’s characters, plus some of the villains under Garmadon’s command. Speaking of Garmadon, it’s interesting to see that LEGO has thrown in three variants of the film’s main antagonist in one CMF series, and having his ‘battle version’ included in the series is a great way to have him without breaking the bank. Pair him up with Lloyd and you instantly have a winning combo collection of both father and son. Other than the pajama donned, Volcano Garmadon, we also get to see another version of Garmadon as teased by LEGO last Father’s Day. I’m curious to see how the Flashback Garmadon fits into the overall plot of the film. Will it appear in the film, and if so, could it mean somehow that Garmadon wasn’t all that ‘evil’ in the past? After all, being ‘Ninjago’s #1 Dad’ would still mean something.

Here’s the final instalment of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigure Series. I’ve also included a nifty thumbnail below where you can find all the minifigs in this series in one go. Which one is your favorite? Let us know in the comments below, and don’t forget to drop us a note at our official Facebook page.

First Half of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Collectible Minifigures Makes Their Debut!

The reveals are now in full swing with LEGO’s latest brick-built film, the LEGO Ninjago Movie. Following the official announcement of its retailer exclusives now comes the exciting line of the film’s collectible minifigures. Announced via LEGO’s Facebook page earlier today, the first half (10 out of 20) of the LEGO Ninjago Movie CMF includes some of the film’s lead characters, and common folks of Ninjago City. It also offers a few, never before seen elements such as the sushi roll and oriental bowls. I personally dig the Jay Walker minifig with its smartphone and scarf accessory, and will look great on the Hiker (71013) minifigure from Series 16. The second half of the film’s CMF line will be revealed tomorrow, so stay tuned!
