How To Build Your Own LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober Mini BB-8.

This is something that fell off my radar during the past weekend. After the successful launch of this year’s LEGO TRU Bricktober Minifigures, Toys R Us officially concluded this year’s Bricktober promotions with a build and take home event last Saturday at all local TRU stores in the US. KFOLS had the chance to build and bring home a brick-built mini version of one of Star Wars favorite droids, none other than BB-8.

If you missed out this event, and wish to try your own mini BB-8, then you’ll be glad to know that the instructions to build this miniature droid is now available online courtesy of The Brick Fan. You may download the building instructions directly as a PDF file and see if you have the necessary parts to build it, or you may just click on the images below.

Frankly, this particular build is not really that impressive. Pardon me, but I can’t help but think that it actually ended up looking like a roll-on… lol! I feel that BB-8’s head section can be improved even with very limited parts. Here’s how the final build looks like, with photo credits to Rebel Scum.

But who am I to complain, it’s free LEGO after all – and any free LEGO is always a good catch.

Shop.LEGO.com in the UK Offers Three Freebies Only For Today.

If you’re living in the UK and you’re holding on to those LEGO purchases over at shop.LEGO.com, then today might be the best time to hit that add Checkout button. As Brickset noted, there are currently three LEGO freebies (with qualifying purchases) up for grabs right now at LEGO’s UK online shop.

LEGO Juniors Racer (30473)

This polybag comes free with any purchase of LEGO Juniors set until November 12. The LEGO Juniors Racer (30473) polybag comes in 30 pieces and a racer minifigure.

LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build-Up (40253)

This year’s 24-in-1 seasonal set comes free for any LEGO purchase of £60 until November 22. Coming in at 254 pieces, the LEGO Seasonal Christmas Build-Up (40253) offers 24 different mini-builds, though not all of them can be built simultaneously.

40253

LEGO Exclusive VIP Set (40178)

Perhaps this is the best freebie of all, currently offered to all LEGO VIP members. But you have to hurry, because this offer is valid only until today. As of this posting, the LEGO Exclusive VIP set (40178) is still available via shop.LEGO.com for every minimum purchase of any LEGO products worth £100 and above. The LEGO Exclusive VIP set is a rehash of 2014’s similar promotional, the LEGO Brand Retail Store (40145). However, I must say that I like the most recent one better in terms of design and aesthetics. If you’re a LEGO VIP member and wish to bring this one home, today is the last day for you to catch this one.

The LEGO Batman Movie Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman Keychain (5004928) Is Now Available at Target.

I wrote about the LEGO promotions outlined in Target’s 2017 Toy Book Ad a few days ago, so it’s quite well known that certain LEGO giveaways are free to snag on certain days of late October and most of November.

The first wave of these freebies, available from October 29 to November 4, is a particularly uncommon item off the merchandising of The LEGO Batman Movie. I am, of course, talking about the Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman (5004928) keychain, something of an elusive find for LEGO fans of both the superhero and the film.

KIss Kiss Tuxedo Batman

It’s so easy to like the Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman. After all, it’s pretty much Bruce Wayne in a white tux who just slapped on his Bat cowl while forgoing the rest of the costume, and the lipstick marks all over his clothes are a send-up of sorts to the various female characters in his universe who have fallen for him. In the present DC Comics run, he and Catwoman are planning to marry (again). But I digress.

When The LEGO Batman Movie came out, this LEGO keychain was an exclusive on Cinemark Theaters that showed the film, and nowhere else. It’s therefore a big balm to dedicated collectors that Target is taking a turn in giving them out. Guests need only a minimum $30 purchase of any LEGO Batman Movie merchandise to have their very own Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman keychain. It’s as simple as that. The best part of it is that Target shoppers can also simply buy the item directly on Target online without the qualifying $30 purchase.

5004928 1

Please take note that as of this writing, Target’s webpage referring to the Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman is currently unavailable. We don’t know exactly what are the reasons for its unavailability, or if it was posted by accident and therefore taken down, but the obvious thing is, there is a dedicated page for it and we as well hit that refresh button every now and then. We just have to see in the next few days if this page will be updated.

For now, it’s nice to know that this elusive TLBM minifigure keychain is still available for latecomers, and is something that LEGO has made available for everyone.

UK Toys R Us Stores Holding LEGO Ninjago Movie ‘Make and Take’ Event this Saturday.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie hit cinemas around the globe last month, but LEGO is going to keep the hype for the film going long after the box office has run its course through its many tie-in products. As it seems, toy store chains that carry the LEGO brand are only happy to help out.

This usually takes the form of hosting “Make and Take” events, where skilled little builders can bring home their individual creations, and UK’s Toys R Us in the UK will be having one of these on the weekend, October 28.

As announced via TRU UK’s official blogsite, the LEGO model to build and bring home is a variant of the technically impressive LEGO Ninjago Movie Ice Tank (70616). Though the blogsite didn’t mention exactly what particular Ice Tank variant that children can make and take home this Saturday, our best guess is that it could be the Ice Tank (30427) polybag, or even a smaller version of it. TRU is known for offering its unique versions of smaller LEGO sets during these building events, so this is exciting to see.

30427 1
Will this be given away this weekend at select TRU UK stores? We’ll just have to wait and see.

So if you happen to be near at any Toys R Us branch in the UK, then be sure to drop by this Saturday before noon (from 11AM to 1PM) to take part in this make and take fun. Take note though that not all TRU UK branches will be running the event.

For your guidance, the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ice Tank Make and Take Event will NOT be available in the following stores: Northampton Weston Favell, Nottingham Victoria Centre, Hemel Hempstead, Peterborough Serpentine Green, Blackburn, Sunderland, Glasgow The Forge, Edinbugh Fort Kinnaird, Craigleith, Carlisle, Crystal Peaks, Chester Broughton, Cardiff Queen Street, Staines, Derby intu, Aberdeen Union Square, Doncaster Frenchgate, Kingston and Banbury.

Target Toy Book 2017 Features Great LEGO Promotions and Giveaways

The Holidays are fast approaching, time for retail chains to start hyping up their products at customer-enticing prices. One of the early birds in promoting new LEGO products at awesome discount prices is none other than Target.

With the release of the latest version of their annual Toy Book Ad for 2017, the hottest toys to buy with the Christmas shopping rush so close. Leave it to Target to make sure that they have every new item imaginable on children’s wish-lists to be represented on their Toy Book, and leave it to LEGO to secure a permanent fixture within its pages.

legotarget2017

Featured on the LEGO Brick Bash segment of the Target Toy Book 2017 are some of the most sought-after and season-appropriate play-sets and mini-figures, as well as a series of nifty promotional items for LEGO shoppers this late October and all through November.

Target’s first giveaway in this vein kicks off on October 29 until November 4, where guests purchasing $30 or more worth of Lego Batman products will receive a free LEGO Batman Movie Kiss Kiss Tuxedo Batman (5004928) Keychain polybag, normally available for $5.99 by itself.

TLBM Keychain 5004928 1Following that, from November 5 to 11, a $35 or more spent on all LEGO products will entitle you to a free LEGO Seasonal Christmas Ornament (5004934), saving $6.99 for shoppers.

Next on the freebie list, from November 12 to 18, Lego Star Wars product shoppers will be pleased to know that for a minimum $30 purchase they will also get a free LEGO Star Wars Mini Millennium Falcon set ($4.99 value). Though this version of the Falcon may be a bit of a downgrade as what we can find from its counterpart in this year’s LEGO Star Wars Advent Calendar (75184), it is still a nice LEGO freebie that Target is throwing in.

It’s a great way to celebrate in advance the release of “Star Wars – Episode VIII: The Last Jedi” on December. The last day of this promo period will even be capped off by a grand LEGO Star Wars In-Store Scavenger Hunt offering even more giveaways galore.

Last but not least, from the 19th to the 25th, a minimum $30 Lego purchase nets a free LEGO Seasonal Santa Claus (30478) polybag set, as Thanksgiving and Black Friday gives way to the main Holiday season.

LEGO Christmas Build-Up (40253) Official Images Now Available.

Earlier last September, it was revealed in LEGO’s Italian Store Calendar that set 40253 or the LEGO Christmas Build-Up will be one of this year’s seasonal LEGO Store giveaways. November’s LEGO Store Calendar in the US finally set it in stone when it officially announced that the LEGO Christmas Build-Up (40253) set will be a free promotional that comes with a qualifying purchase of any LEGO products worth $99 and above.  Taking its cue from last year’s Christmas build and re-build set which is the Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222), this year’s seasonal freebie also highlights a similar play feature, coming in at 254 pieces.

40253 1

Recently, LEGO’s servers have already been updated to include all the official images of this exclusive, LEGO Store giveaway set to be released from November 1 to 15, or until supplies last. Slightly similar to the highly popular LEGO Advent Calendars, the LEGO Christmas Build-Up (40253) allows young builders to create, and re-create 24 unique micro-builds. Take note that these builds cannot be built simultaneously, even with 254 pieces available at your disposal. We just have to wait and see until this set becomes available next month to exactly know how many micro-builds can you create out of this LEGO set, without taking apart the rest. We’ll keep you posted once Jason and Stephen picks this up and reviews them.

40253 alt1

In the meantime, can you guess what objects these micro builds represent? Some of these can easily be recreated with relative ease using any of your existing LEGO pieces. So what do you think brick fans, which of these can you easily build?

Here’s A Wrap-Up of All Things LEGO at NYCC 2017

Last week’s New York Comic Con 2017 may all be over, but the waves of LEGO-related announcements released during the fan convention just kept on lingering. Unlike last year’s New York Comic Con, where LEGO introduced new sets such those coming from the DC Super Hero Girls theme, additional LEGO Batman Movie sets, and an exclusive Batgirl mini-doll raffle giveaway, this year was, well… a bit uninspiring. There were no new themes or full LEGO sets that were announced, but more of what to expect from the LEGO BrickHeadz line. Needless to say, this year’s LEGO reveals were pretty nice in themselves so here’s a wrap-up of everything that LEGO has revealed or announced during the said annual fan convention.

First off, we have the obvious emphasis on one of LEGO’s brick-built, pop-styled themes – the LEGO BrickHeadz. Love or hate them, top brass from The LEGO Group made the call, nonetheless, of having two of the most iconic characters in the Star Wars saga as this year’s prized LEGO NYCC exclusive and giving them the LEGO BrickHeadz flavor. This year’s NYCC saw a handful of fortunate LEGO fans bringing home their very own and exclusively numbered, LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz Boba Fett and Han Solo in Carbonite (41498). Straight from the classic Star Wars saga, this exclusive BrickHeadz set comes in at 329 pieces and is the largest BrickHeadz set to be offered so far.

Hot on the heels of this exclusive LEGO set is also the announcement of more LEGO BrickHeadz in 2018. Specifically timed with the theatrical releases of some of the most highly anticipated super hero films, these BrickHeadz feature a new line of sets based on characters from the Justice League, Star Wars: The Last Jedi, and Avengers: Infinity War. This gives the relatively new line of LEGO theme a total number of 29 collectible sets to eye on, excluding those that were exclusively offered during Comic Cons.

Next, we have more cool announcements coming from the good ‘ol folks of Warner Bros Interactive and TT Games. Also revealed during one of the NYCC panels, TT Games brought to stage several cool updates about the much awaited LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. TT Games Head of Design, Arthur Parsons, revealed what fans can expect from the game’s Season Pass, which offers six Level Packs and four Character Packs boosting the overall number of playable LEGO Marvel characters to up to more than 260 characters.

Finally, it was also revealed at NYCC that the Black Panther will have his very own LEGO movie entitled Trouble in Wakanda. It seems that T’Challa will be getting a lot of screen time – not only with his own stand-alone and self-titled MCU film set to be released in February and the Avengers: Infinity War Part 1 in May, we can now also expect him starring in his own LEGO film.

Black Panther
black panther trouble in wakanda

Details about Trouble in Wakanda are scant as of the moment, and we don’t have any details of its plot or release date. What we do know is that LEGO seems to be focusing a lot of attention on a single, Marvel character since this is the very first solo superhero movie that they ever made. We do have a lot of superhero, brick-built movies before, but this is the very first film that is dedicated to a single character. Will this be a start of something like a series of stand-alone LEGO superhero films in the future, following the methods of both MCU and DCEU? We just have to wait and see.

It is also not far-fetched to consider that this might be another direct-to-DVD/Blu-Ray film unlike its big production movies such as The LEGO Movie, The LEGO Batman Movie, and the more recent, LEGO Ninjago Movie. My best guess is that it will be released alongside its theatrical MCU counterpart, the Black Panther, and may also come with an exclusive, free LEGO minifigure which of course will definitely drive sales of Trouble in Wakanda.

What LEGO NYCC announcement were you most excited about? For one, I’m looking forward to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 and I’m sure our resident gaming guru, Brick Show Brian, already has his sights locked into playing and giving you a walk-through of this game. So be sure to follow his YouTube channel and keep tabs with us for more LEGO news and updates.

Tyler Gets An Inside Look at the LEGO House in Billund.

The LEGO House in Billund, Denmark is now fully operational! We had a glimpse of what the House of the Brick has to offer, and this time, our resident Master Builder brings you a firsthand look at what’s in store inside the sprawling complex of brick-filled fun and non-stop adventures.

From the magnificent LEGO Tree of Creativity that stands 15 meters high and made out of more than six million LEGO bricks, the Master Builders Gallery, where the original works of some of the best LEGO builders and fans all over the world are showcased, and to the various activity zones (Red, Yellow, Green and Blue) that define the fun and unique LEGO learning experience, each section of the LEGO House is filled with so many opportunities to learn and express each person’s creativity in a fun and engaging way.

TopBanner Explore LEGO House

Speaking of creativity, though I am not fortunate enough to be included in the A-list of top notch LEGO builders invited by LEGO (sadly, my master builder kung fu is not that strong enough), I’m delighted to see what Tyler has made for the LEGO House for everyone to see. If my information is correct, MOCs put on display at the Master Builders Gallery will stay there for a year, and another batch of original creations from other equally talented builders will have a chance to be showcased.

Here’s Tyler with an inside look at the House of the Brick.

The LEGO House in Billund, Denmark is open daily with a few exceptions throughout the year, so be sure to plan and book your visit in advance.

LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigures Now On Sale At Select TRU Stores.

This year’s LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 promotionals are now up, and as we reported from yesterday, this annual LEGO and TRU promo have already kicked off in some parts of the world and has just recently began in the US. For its first wave of offerings during this week (October 1 to 7), LEGO purchases of $50 and above at any Toys R Us stores will entitle you to a free LEGO Bricktober Minifigure set  which is from the Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu theme.  Week 2 (October 8 to 14) giveaways will be the LEGO Batman Movie minifigs; Week 3 (October 15-21) the LEGO City Jungle Exploration; and Week 4 (October 22-28) will be a selection of LEGO CMFs coming from past series.

According to some reports we’re receiving from our brick fans, certain TRU stores, particularly in Arlington, Texas, are now even offering Week 2 series which is yet to be released next week. Furthermore, store clerks are even offering them for sale for $19.99 per set even without any qualifying purchases, including The LEGO Batman Movie series, which is still due next week. Here are some images snapped by one of our friends.

What I find odd is the fact that there seems to be an absence of any active promotions or marketing for these minifigure sets. According to reports, there are no visible in-store signages of any kind that hints on these Bricktober promotionals. Unlike that of last year’s where flyers were given away to promote 2016’s Bricktober minifigs, this year is somewhat lacking. This is only me speculating, but it could be that TRU has underestimated how popular these minifigure sets are and is now doing some regulating of some sorts to ensure that there will be plenty of sets to go around during the next three weeks, OR in light of their recent financial crisis and bankruptcy, advertising is one of the company’s activities that are placed in the backburner. Couple it with a rather low morale from their frontline store personnel, then you can expect a relatively apathetic atmosphere where you can easily get products that are not yet supposed to be offered.

We just have to wait and see if TRU will be consistent in its announcements and promo, and for the mean time please let us know if these 2017 Bricktober Minifigure sets are now available in your local TRU stores. Drop us a comment below if you happen to spot them.

Thanks to Justin for giving us a heads up.
