21 Largest LEGO Mech Builds That You Can Add to Your Collection Today

If you’re a fan of LEGO and mechs, then you may notice that LEGO mechs have been around for a long time and have always been popular among fans. But if you’re looking for the largest LEGO mech builds, then stay tuned because I’ve compiled a list of 21 of the biggest and most impressive ones you can add to your collection today. These builds range from towering titans from LEGO Monkie Kid to agile combat machines from LEGO Ninjago, each with its own unique style and design.

Tracing back the roots of these largest LEGO mech builds or sets goes way back to the time of LEGO classic themes. When LEGO launched its LEGO Space theme and introduced our very first Cybernaut (6951: Robot Command Center) made of LEGO in 1984, brick-built robots became a staple across LEGO themes and sets.  And if you’re a fan of LEGO mechs, then you have probably noticed that the past 5-7 years have seen a steady increase in the number of these largest LEGO mech sets. Simply put, there are a ton of amazing mech builds out there that you can add to your collection today.

LEGO bricks have always been associated with wonder and creativity, and the introduction of this largest LEGO mech sets into the mix (as far as minifigures are concerned) has taken it to a whole new level. With the ability to create complex, articulated figures with hundreds of LEGO pieces, the possibilities are virtually endless.

And in case you’re wondering where we are right now in terms of LEGO mechs, you may also notice that the majority of these official LEGO mech sets are coming from homegrown themes such as LEGO Ninjago and LEGO Monkie Kid, and licensed ones such as LEGO Marvel Superheroes.  As a rule of thumb, I only considered those sets with more than a 700-piece count in this listing of the largest LEGO mech builds around. Most of these are still available at LEGO.com and Amazon, so if you’re interested to add them to your LEGO mech collection, then you may also click on their respective affiliate links below.

With that out of the way, let’s dive in and check this out.

WATCH: Where Can You Find the Hardest To Reach LEGO Store?

The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) has just been revealed and to celebrate the occasion, LEGO dares us to travel what it refers to as the hardest to reach LEGO Store in the world. Well, that is for two highly competitive adventurers willing to take on the college.

The scene is somewhere in the remote Scottish Highlands, where two of the most adventurous travelers go head-to-head to be the first to land at the hardest to reach LEGO Store on the planet.

As you can see, it’s not the typical LEGO Store that we are used to. The LEGO Group came up with the idea of placing a brightly colored yellow Land Rover on top of the Scottish Highlands (complete with its iconic logo and signboard) and see who will be able to first reach this remote location.

It’s a showdown between two fierce adventurers – Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest and the Seven Summits, as she takes on Aldo Kane, a native Scottish explorer and extreme locations expert, in a thrilling competition to reach the remote LEGO Store and build the new set. Watch this.

It’s a pretty cool marketing ad actually, keeping in line with the sense of awe and adventure that comes with the Land Rover brand. And now that we have another building set to celebrate the adventurer in us in the form of this latest brick-built offering, it’s time to grab those bricks again and embark on your very own building adventure.

The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) is slated to arrive in (actual) LEGO Stores starting April 4, 2023. For more information, visit LEGO.com.

LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) Coming in April!

The LEGO Icons’ portfolio has been expanded to include another attractive set to inspire your next off-road adventure. Based on the classic design of the Land Rover, the release of the LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 also marks the iconic vehicle’s 75th anniversary.

If this build is somewhat familiar to you, you might recall that this is the 2nd time LEGO will offer a set based on the Land Rover. A similar LEGO Land Rover Defender (42110) set was released last year under the Technic theme. However, this recent offering gives it a more adventurous tone with its classic green sage look, and tons of traveling and camping gear.

The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) comes in at 2,336 pieces and will be available starting April 4, 2023, retailing for $239.99. Read on for the set’s full product description and take a closer look.

More Details on How to Get the LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) GWP Set

Earlier last week, LEGO.com officially revealed the next gift-with-purchase set that we can expect following its LEGO City 4×4 Off-Road Ambulance Rescue (40582) promotional set. And if you’re looking forward to having the LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) added to your latest modular set or any original creation in particular, then you’ll be glad to know that LEGO has already published the details on how we can get it.

As seen on LEGO.com’s Store Finder page, we can now confirm that you can have the LEGO Icons Moving Truck added to your shopping cart for free when your LEGO purchase totals $180 and more.

The promo will run from February 21 to March 3, 2023, or until supplies last. What is great about this promo is that it does not limit your qualifying purchase to any particular LEGO product or theme, unlike the recent LEGO City 4×4 Off-Road Ambulance. And because you’re not limited to any particular product, it means you have more flexibility in choosing your desired LEGO sets, especially those that are expected to be released starting March 1 such as the latest wave of LEGO Star Wars Helmets, Speed Champions sets, Disney BrickHeadz, and more. But if you’re still holding out on your bricks for this year’s modular set in the like of the LEGO Icons Jazz Club (10312), then it’s a great choice as well.

In case you missed my initial post on this promotional item, you may check out the details of the LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) below.

LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) Promotional Set Officially Revealed

Last week, a new promotional or gift-with-purchase set was spotted in the wild in the form of the LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586). Though we only had a glimpse of its box art, it’s nice to know that LEGO has finally given us an official reveal of this freebie, and what it has to offer.

We’re still waiting for more details on how you can have this set and of its purchasing conditions. But since LEGO is offering another promotional set in the form of the LEGO City 4×4 Off-Road Ambulance Rescue (40582) from February 10-27, 2023, then we can somewhat expect the Moving Truck to follow soon.

The LEGO Icons Moving Truck (40586) is a perfect companion to the LEGO Icons Jazz Club. And if you’re planning to purchase the latter anytime soon, then it will be wise to wait a bit and to time your next LEGO purchase when the Moving Truck is offered as a free promotional item. In case you need to know, the building instructions for this set have also been uploaded by LEGO if you want to take a look.

A Closer Look at the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) Set

After LEGO officially revealed its largest LEGO Icons set of the year, LEGO.com has been updated to include a listing of the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) set.

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316)

Coming in at an impressive 6,167 pieces, this set comes in three sections giving it a sort of a modular set vibe. And though this might be this year’s most pricey set so far at $500, the attention to detail and the insane amount of minifigures that goes with it make it worth every penny for long-time LEGO LOTR fans.

And fans will surely not be disappointed with all the film references that this set has to offer. Divided into three sections, the first features the Council Ring, where the Fellowship debates on how to best destroy the One Ring. I love how the hotdog and popsicle pieces were cleverly used to build the gang’s chairs, including a generous number of plant pieces that adorned the surroundings.

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316)

This first section also includes a look at Frodo’s Bedroom, where he rests after being rescued from the Nazgul’s clutches. If you look closely, the designers of this set managed to have this minifigure version of Frodo sit on the bed despite his shorter legs, using a couple of headlight pieces. Plus a reference to Bilbo’s iconic Mithril chainmail is also included.

The next portion is what I loved the most. Elrond’s study room prominently displays the Shards of Narsil using a new, broken sword element that perfectly captures the look and feel of the famous blade that struck the hand of the Dark Lord. This part of the set is also adorned with several paintings that depict the story of the elves and their valiant efforts to defeat Morgoth and Sauron.

The second portion or section of this set features a stunning hall of unnamed Elven heroes of old. It consists of five gray minifigures, each with distinct features. This actually gives us a total of 21 minifigures in all plus the minifigure that is on display in Elrond’s study room.

The third section of the set highlights a gazebo overlooking a river and bridge, where the Fellowship gets ready to depart from Rivendell as they embark to destroy the Ring. The gazebo’s design is simply outstanding, highlighting the effective use of white LEGO pieces to recreate the immaculate glow and brightness of the place. Looking closely at this portion, the designers also used several toilet seat pieces as part of the gazebo’s roof.

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316)

And what perhaps is the most appealing feature of the LEGO Icons The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316) set is the sheer number of LOTR minifigures added to it. We get to see newer versions of Gandalf the Grey, all four hobbits (Frodo Baggins, Samwise Gamgee, Merriadoc “Merry” Brandybuck, and Peregrin “Pippin” Took), Legolas, Gimli, Boromir, and Aragorn. There are also two additional Elven smiths, Arwen, Gloin, Elrond, and Bilbo Baggins. Based on what I read from early reviews, Bilbo’s minifigure features an alternate face that underscores his scary features when influenced by the Ring.

The Lord of the Rings: Rivendell (10316)

The LEGO Icons Lord of the Ring: Rivendell has a hefty price tag of $499.99 and is scheduled to be released across all LEGO stores and online beginning March 8, 2023. And if you will purchase this set as a VIP member from March 5 to 7, you will also get a free  LEGO BrickHeadz Frodo, and Gollum (40630) set valued at $15

There is no option to pre-order this set at this time, but if you want, you can add this to your LEGO wishlist and be notified once the set is available for purchase. You may click on the affiliate link below and read on for the rest of the set’s product details below.

For $190 you may consider having a couple or more of those newer LEGO City Stuntz sets, or some mech-inspired LEGO Monkie Kid sets such as the Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045) and Yellow Tusk Elephant (80043). And with almost 200 new LEGO 2023 sets now listed and available at LEGO.com, there’s something that will strike our fancy.

As of this posting the LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser still appears in my cart upon checkout over at LEGO.com, but bear in mind that this promotional set is only up until January 14 or while supplies last. This is also available at all LEGO stores until such time so you may want to check with your local LEGO store as well.
