LEGO Ideas Motorized Lighthouse (21335) Now Listed, Coming Next Month

For AFOLs and more tech/mechanically-inclined LEGO builders, nothing makes builds more “alive” than featuring mechanical functions in it. This can be simple as a hand-cranked mechanism to make things move, spin and so on. On the complex end a LEGO build could have motor-powered parts and lighting, like with train sets and such. Motor-powered vehicle or structural builds are just the ticket to add “animation” to any LEGO neighborhood. For AFOL builders thinking of creating a brick-built seaside landscape, the next LEGO Ideas set release will do nicely. It having a motorized light fixture makes the build “accurate” in aesthetics.

Promobricks brings us word on the LEGO Ideas Motorized Lighthouse (21335), now officially listed on LEGO Shop. With 2,065 pieces you can build the quaint Aurora Point Lighthouse, with tower and keeper’s cottage. Being a lighthouse, the set features a motorized rotating light, magnified by a Fresnel lens element. In addition, the cottage below also has a light-up red fireplace to keep the lighthouse keeper warm. He’ll need all the comfort to do his job providing navigational aid to mariners like the fisherman on his dinghy. Catch this latest Ideas set next month on September 1. And now the details:

Would You Rather Play or Display? Easy. Both. Introducing the LEGO Ideas The Office (21336)!

Well, this next LEGO Ideas set deserves a pretzel. In the tradition of brick-built dioramas of your favorite TV shows such as those from FRIENDS and Seinfeld, comes another LEGO Ideas set fit for all the brick fans of this prime-time Emmy-award-winning comedy series. The LEGO Ideas The Office (21336) set is the brainchild of prolific LEGO fan designer Jaijai Lewis. In fact, this next LEGO Ideas set has gone through a lot of initial disapprovals and reiterations since 2015 until the LEGO Ideas design team gave it the green light during the LEGO Ideas First 2021 Review Stage, alongside the LEGO Ideas Jazz Quartet (21334).  True to the mantra of the sitcom’s lead character and eccentric boss Michael Scott (played by Steve Carell), Jaijai simply “Never, ever, ever gave up”.

LEGO Ideas The Office

The LEGO Ideas The Office (21336) clocks in at 1,164 pieces and comes with an impressive, 15 minifigures of the show’s main cast: Michael Scott, Dwight Schrute, Jim Halpert, Pam Beesly, Ryan Howard, Angela Martin, Oscar Martinez, Kevin Malone, Stanley Hudson, Kelly Kapoor, Phyllis Lapin Vance, Meredith Palmer, Creed Bratton, Toby Flenderson and Darryl Philbin.

21336 alt14

More than just being a display set, this LEGO version of the iconic Dunder Mifflin’s Scranton office comes complete with all the accessories that call back to some of the funniest moments in the show. Stapler-filled jello anyone?

LEGO Children’s Amusement Park (40529) and Cosmic Cardboard Adventures (40533) GWP Sets are Now Up!

Last week we got a full-image preview of a rather anticipated LEGO Ideas GWP set. Said set made grand winner of a LEGO Ideas contest from last year, and was created by Ivan “buldoozer” Guerrero. A new creation from the guy that brought Ideas collectors the 123 Sesame Street set (21324) is a must-have. But with this being a gift-with-purchase item, when exactly does its promotional period go live? As it turns out, it starts this week. Even better, the Ideas GWP Cosmic Cardboard Adventures (40533) isn’t alone in availability.

Cosmic Cardboard Adventures 40533

From German LEGO news source Promobricks, we now know two GWP sets begin their promo period this Monday, May 16. We already know one of these sets, Cosmic Cardboard Adventures (40533). Now we can confirm that it’s accompanied by the adorable Children’s Amusement Park (40529). But let’s get to the important part: how much in total LEGO purchases for each? Well for Cosmic Cardboard Adventures, collectors will get it for over $160. Children’s Amusement Park, with just 170 pieces to the latter’s 203, will go for $90 in LEGO purchases. GWP set 40529 features a swinging boat ride, hammer-strength tester and ring toss, with two park-goer minifigures enjoying the attractions.

LEGO 40529 alt1

Both Cosmic Cardboard Adventures (40533) and Children’s Amusement Park (40529) are available as GWPs until May 30. This of course assumes that supplies will last for both of these items.

LEGO November 2021 Store Calendar Released

With barely a week’s worth of days left in this month, you know what that means LEGO-wise. The next Store Calendar’s going to drop. Here’s a big shout-out to The Brick Fan, for noting the November 2021 LEGO Store Calendar on LEGO’s servers. Several days back, we were expecting some GWPs that “disappeared” from the October calendar to reappear here. They don’t need to anymore, but as a result the November activities/specials appear minimal. Black Friday deals should be marked down, but we’ve been informed LEGO’s saving them for November 15. Anyway, have a look at the calendar down below.

HenkvdL05’s A-Team Van is His Second LEGO Ideas Proposal to Get 10-K Support on 2021 Second Review Stage

We can’t help but feel concerned about the titanic workload the review crew for LEGO Ideas 2021 Second Review Stage. Their most recent proposal that reached 10-K support was at the start of this week. Now we have another one before the week is out (even if this is September and that was August).

This new passer also reinforces a prevailing sense of nostalgia, featuring famous vehicles from 1980s media. There’s Scooby-Doo and the gang with their van, and Michael Knight’s talking super-car alongside their support truck. The latter’s creator HenkvdL05 pulls a hat trick regarding that theme with yet another 10-K submission.

Talk about famous vehicles from 1980s pop media and it’d be a crime to skip “The A-Team.” Sure, the titular crazy-awesome bunch of fugitive ex-soldiers-turned-mercenaries used a nondescript black GMC van with red trim. But what a beauty that rolling arsenal was all the same. HenkvdL05 pointedly designed his build in this proposal around LEGO’s recent (since 2020) 8-stud vehicle width standard. That means this A-Team Van is scaled to standard-sized minifigures. There’s still enough inside room for the minifigs to sit side-by-side in twos. That was pretty much the setup with the A-Team whenever they rolled out.

Of course the main cast of the show isn’t skipping out from their own LEGO Ideas proposal. There’s “Hannibal” Smith, “Faceman” Peck, Mad Murdock and BA Baracus, with appropriate props to boot. They can jump right into the van, which has an easily removable roof for play purposes. The vehicle itself has working doors: driver and passenger, rear, and sliding side-door. Its interior also includes communication and electronic-equipment LEGO pieces to make things lively.

HenkvdL05 now has two proposals aimed at getting a LEGO Ideas set for the 2021 Second Review Stage. And in total, there are over 30 for the reviewers to look over. We can’t help but wonder how many of these proposals will become official at the end of this period.
