First Images of LEGO FC Barcelona Celebration (40485) GWP Set Revealed

For the past few months past, collectors have been combing online news for more word on a new LEGO Creator Expert set. It is fairly certain to be a nice scale reproduction of Camp Nao stadium in Barcelona, Spain. Football fans know it as the citadel of FC Barcelona and, the largest stadium in Spain and Europe. It has hosted FIFA World Cup games, football finals of the 1992 Olympics, and more. There’s no confirmation yet when LEGO Creator Expert Camp Nou (10284) will release. But Promobricks however caught wind of a Gift with Purchase (GWP) set coming along with this elusive set – the LEGO FC Barcelona Celebration (40485)

Check out these first images of LEGO FC Barcelona Celebration (40485). LEGO Shop@Home Australia put these pics online. They list the set as a free item but also priced at AU$29.99. It depicts minifigure FC Barcelona supporters celebrating the team at a familiar game hangout, the Font de Canaletes.

One might also notice an image discrepancy. The box picture shows five minifigs while the set photo only has four (top image). Details on LEGO Shop@Home Australia are rather sparse beyond its set number and pieces (178 pieces in total). The specifications do say that it will include FOUR minifigures and accessories in FC Barcelona colors, so that’s probably it. From what we can assume based on word from brick street, this latest promotional set may perhaps be an incentive similar to what LEGO offered last year when it released the LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford-Manchester United (10272) and its GWP counterpart, the exclusive LEGO United Trinity Statue (5006171) minifigures.

The Creator Expert line has seemingly abandoned chronological release by number since this year. But with LEGO FC Barcelona Celebration (40485) in the open, LEGO Creator Expert Camp Nou (10284) isn’t far off. Speculation has it that the Camp Nou set may have been held back due to the recent FC Barcelona drama. You know the one about the club letting Lionel Messi go on August 5 after his contract expired on July 1. A set like LEGO Creator Expert Camp Nou would have been considered “too soon.” The same goes for its GWP, FC Barcelona Celebration (40485). We won’t really know until it officially comes out.

LEGO Creator Sets Now Offered in Multiple Color Variations

In case you haven’t noticed yet, LEGO Shop@Home has been recently updated to now include a new functionality on certain of its product pages, particularly applied to some LEGO Creator sets as of this posting.

As pointed out by Stone Wars, the product pages for LEGO Creator Expert Fiat 500 (10271) and LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Mighty Dinosaurs (31058) have been updated to include what looks like to be a color selection function. For now, it seems that LEGO has not yet fine-tuned this page function since we only have a static selection bubble that shows the original color of the set. One can say that this might be experimental as of the moment, and a sort of foreshadowing of what LEGO has to offer for the coming weeks. If I’m not mistaken, this is the very first time that I’ve seen LEGO pulled out an offer like this, providing multiple color variations for a set. The prospect is exciting actually and I would like to see certain LEGO sets offered in other color schemes as well.

31058 page — LEGO has added what looks like to be color selection options on these LEGO Creator product pages over at LEGO Shop@Home.

Word on brick street is that this recent development may actually become a possibility, with LEGO studying the feasibility and appeal of having several color options of its sets. The capability of choosing a differently-colored set is obviously not practical for all of LEGO’s set offerings, and seeing that they opted for LEGO Creator sets to jumpstart this feature is a good place to start. There were some speculations also that these color options might extend to upcoming LEGO City sets as well, including the still-to-be-released LEGO City Fire Station Starter Set (77943) and Fire Station Headquarters (77944).

Whatever is the case, it is quite certain that LEGO is now prepping up its online shopping portal and is now paving a way for a new and unique customer experience with this color selection capabilities. I guess we can see more developments in the coming weeks, or once September sets in. I’ll keep you posted on this. In the meantime, be sure to check out some of the newer LEGO Creator Expert sets such as the now-available Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) and the upcoming Pickup Truck (10290). Who knows, we might get recolored versions of these sets as well. We just have to wait and see.

LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) Coming Soon!

After the recent reveal of another classic vehicle from the LEGO Creator Expert line in the form of the Pickup Truck (10290), LEGO has added another brick-built vintage car model to its 18+ collection. The LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) is now listed at LEGO Shop@Home.

Based on its predecessor, the LEGO Creator Expert Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (10220) from 2011, this recent iteration comes in a larger size and is distinguished by a predominantly white and medium azure color scheme. The newer Volkswagen T2 Camper Van (10279) comes in at 2,207 pieces and is expected to retail for $180 when it arrives on store shelves and at LEGO’s home shopping portal starting August 1, 2021.

Love it or hate it (I know some LEGO fans are not that pleased with LEGO’s choice of product offerings lately), it cannot be denied that from an aesthetic standpoint, the design of the LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar (10282) is on a class of its own. And like the recently released LEGO Ideas Typewriter, this particular true-to-life set is designed with realism in mind. Built at a comparable US size of 7 1/2, the complete build features the shoe’s iconic shape and classic stripes, all combined to give that organic shape and feel. Florian and the other LEGO designers working on this model even went a step further by packaging this set in one unique box art that even mimics an actual shoe box.

The decorative elements such as the Adidas logo and Superstar brand are all accurately printed as well. Inquisitive LEGO builders may also find it interesting to discover that this set also introduces a new 5×5 dome element that may come in pretty handy in creating those smooth edges and corners.

Finally, and I guess you may have noticed it already while watching the video, LEGO seems to be teasing on an upcoming gift-with-purchase (GWP) set in the form of this miniature LEGO Adidas Superstar. Word has it that this little replica and minifigure might be a GWP that will be offered as part of an incentive of purchasing the LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar (10282) next month. I’ll talk more about it in my next post.

LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar (10282) Officially Revealed!

After giving us a teaser of its next LEGO 18+ set, LEGO has finally unboxed (no pun intended) its brick-built rendition of one of the coolest and iconic footwear of all time. LEGO Shop@Home has now listed the LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar (10282), with a release date of July 1, 2021.

The LEGO Adidas Originals Superstar (10282) highlights the shoes’ traditional shell toe type, customizable design, and even includes a new textile element in the form of a LEGO shoelace. The level of realism that this display set offers is just stunning. From its beautiful box art that doubles as a shoebox as well (both its box and the set itself actually looks good together on display in my opinion), down to its printed tiles featuring the Adidas and Superstar logo, everything feels organic and realistic. The entire brick-built shoe even measures 10.5 inches in length, roughly equivalent to a US size of 7 1/2. The obvious downside is (aside from the fact that you can’t wear it, lol) you’ll only get one shoe right off the box, and you will need to purchase another one if you need to build a pair of this classic footwear. ICYMI: LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283) Landing this April

In case you missed it, the LEGO Group has officially announced another set that celebrates their creative collaboration with NASA. Unveiled earlier this week, the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283) celebrates the launch of the original NASA STS-31 together with the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990.

The commemoration of this historic event is now immortalized in LEGO form through the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discvovery (10283) set, slated to arrive this April. And what better way to launch (no pun intended) this set is by having the first-ever American woman astronaut to have ever walked on space introduce this latest LEGO-NASA collab. Dr. Kathy Sullivan was even kind enough to even share some of her insights as a pioneering astronaut, and to encourage budding LEGO builders, engineers, and scientists to pursue a career in space exploration.

After making its official debut, the LEGO Group has now released an accompanying designer video for its recent 2-in-1 masterpiece, the LEGO Creator Expert Porsche 911 (10295). After giving audiences a brief historical background of the 70s Porsche 911, Mike revealed some pretty neat aspects of the new LEGO Creator Expert Porsche 911 (10295). As a 2-in-1 build, you have the option of creating either the model’s powerful counterpart which is the 911 Turbo, or the more laid back and relaxed version of the 911 Targa. Its accompanying building instruction, as disclosed by Mike, is unique in itself in that it gives you the option of selecting which version of the Porsche 911 will you like to continue midway as you build the set.

And of course, the set also features first-for-March 2o21 parts as detailed by LEGO Element Designer Yoel Mazur. Particularly, the use of a new triple bow for the back of the Porsche, giving it a sleeker, more polished look; and a new 5×5 quarter-circle that accentuates its classic rear wheels. I can just imagine the possibilities that these new elements will offer LEGO fan builders. Other than these new LEGO pieces, it is interesting to note that this set does not feature any stickers at all, and LEGO has gone the extra mile of offering printed elements for all of the set’s interior and exterior details.

The LEGO Creator Expert Porsche 911 (10295) is expected to roll-out both in-store and online starting February 16 for LEGO VIP members, and on March 1st for the general population.
