From the town of Bedrock, the Modern Stone-Age Family (and their next-door neighbors) are coming forward to us now…in LEGO form. At least that’s what’s going to happen, officially, once this new 10K-support passer of a proposal in LEGO Ideas can impress enough in the Review Phase up next.
But we’re getting ahead of ourselves. Joining the ranks of this already impressive lineup of LEGO Ideas submissions that have recently gained the preliminary 10,000 support, is an animation nostalgia gesture from Andrew Clark: a beautifully detail recreation of the main setting and characters from Hanna-Barbera’s iconic series The Flintstones.
This Ideas set by Clark is composed of the familiar stone-slab residence of the Flintstone family, a driveway (with mailbox) where the family “foot-car” is parked, and a welcome sign for their hometown, the prehistoric Town of Bedrock (pop. 2,500).
And then we get to the included minifigures. Even somebody with a passing familiarity on The Flintstones might easily name Fred and Wilma with their daughter Pebbles, and the neighboring Rubble family: Barney, Betty and their boy Bam Bam. One glaring detail is that the Flintstone family pet Dino is absent, though Clark says a future update might fix that.
Everything in the Ideas proposal is as cartoon-accurate as can be. The house interior has stuff like a boulder-TV, horn telephone and parrot-beak turntable. The yard also has a lawnmower with an herbivore dinosaur! And the foot-car has an optional “dino-steak” prop, just like the one shown in the credits.
If that weren’t enough, Andrew Clark also put up this sweet video showing how his LEGO-brick prototypes come together, tangibly showing fans what to expect. It’s no wonder now how the Ideas Flintstones set got its 10K support, and we wish it well for the upcoming First 2018 Review Stage.
After Amazon France’s reveal of the next wave of LEGO Ninjago sets scheduled to be released earl y in June, another French online retailer, Alternate, has now posted more official images of these latest LEGO Ninjago sets. Based on Season 9 of its counterpart TV show with a Free the Dragons subtheme. This latest series, as of to date, consists of six sets with one exclusive to LEGOLAND Billund which is the Oni Titan (70658).

One of the themed areas for the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort theme park is Miniland, where a variety of LEGO reproductions of famous buildings around the world are on display. Part of Miniland’s UK exhibits is Buckingham Palace, and this model building just got spruced up in light of recent events.
On Monday, April 23, a new addition to the line of succession for the British throne was born, in the person of the third child of Prince William and Kate, Duke and Duchess of Cambridge. LEGOLAND Windsor joins in the nationwide celebration of the royal birth with this brick-rendered gesture.
Visitors to the UK LEGOLAND’s Miniland area might notice that the LEGO Buckingham palace there now has its gates open, with Paparazzi aiming cameras at the driveway where brick-built figures of the Duke and Duchess stand, a LEGO baby in LEGO-Kate’s arms. They’re joined by Prince George and Princess Charlotte.
The LEGO version of the unnamed baby Prince is 5cm in length, made up of 1×2 plates and a blank minifigure head, with a minifigure baby acting as Princess Charlotte’ doll. To the family’s sides are a dog and a LEGO stroller, as well as the official birth announcement easel.
LEGOLAND Windsor model maker Kat James put together this royal birth display; and it’s looking to be a big hit with the human audience as it is with the brick-built crowd at the LEGO palace gates. No word was given as to how long the royal family will be displayed, so it’s best for those who wish to see it, to come running there soon.
Interestingly, LEGOLAND Windsor is pretty close to the real Buckingham Palace. Also, the Duke, Duchess and their children actually live in Kensington. The baby Prince also hasn’t gotten his name announced yet.
It’s April by now, but the celebrations for the 60th anniversary of the patenting of the ubiquitous LEGO brick back in January 28 haven’t stopped yet. It’s a good bet that more events to commemorate one of the most iconic toy designs in the world will be happening all year round.
Take for instance this awesome gathering pulled by social network giant, Facebook. It’s easy to see on their platform that plenty of LEGO fan communities all over the world have made FB their social network platform of choice. As such, Facebook saw it fit to invite community representatives to a LEGO celebratory event.
With that, LEGO master builders from Denmark, Norway, Australia, the UK and other countries traveled to Facebook’s corporate HQ at Menlo Park, California to join with their American counterparts in order to participate in an FB-hosted build event led by Master Builder Chris Steininger.
Working with boxes of LEGO sets and plenty of assorted building elements, these assembled builders who have a presence on Facebook went on to build multiple MOCs that they laid out in the front yard of FBHQ. This is the iconic social network’s own contribution to LEGO’s 60th anniversary celebrations worldwide.
Aside from the outdoor build event itself, FB also gave the international builders an open forum for further networking of their other brick-works and activities, as well as taking the assembly on a campus tour of their corporate operations. All in all, it was fun aplenty with LEGO fans having the chance to share their passion for the brick to a whole a new level.
After making a brief appearance over at eBay, LEGO has finally, and officially, pulled off the veil from its latest and grandest theme-park inspired LEGO Creator Expert. The announcement also came in via LEGO’s social media channels a few moments ago.
Coming in at a sizeable amount of 4,124 pieces, the LEGO Creator Expert Roller Coaster (10261) comes with 11 minifigures and brightly colored, functional train tracks. It comes as the fourth Creator Expert set that follows a theme-park/carnival vibe. The set will retail in the US for $379.99 and will be available for early VIP access beginning May 16, and to the general public on June 1.

A couple of days ago, Italian online retailer Radio Kontrolgave us our first look of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657). Though the site only gave us a glimpse by posting the set’s box art, this time thanks to Alternate, we now have our first batch of official set images. The Ninjago City Docks (70657) is expected to hit store shelves by June 1, retailing for 244 Euros in France and 230 Euros in Germany. As a sort of expansion set for your ever growing LEGO Ninjago City, the Ninjago City Docks acts like a modular add on to the Ninjago City (70620) set using several Technic pins. However, it is still a complete set all on its own.
Amazon France also posted a brief description of the Ninjago City Docks (70657), and here’s a copy of that in English via Google Translate, followed by additional images.

I say that any LEGO City is obviously lacking without this one, and it looks like LEGO has finally heard our cries for a proper City hospital. Thanks to The Brothers Brick, we now have our first images of the LEGO City Hospital (60204). Those who are into the LEGO City theme and MOCs by heart, knows very well that a LEGO City Hospital set is way long overdue. Though the Friends theme managed to have the Heartlake Hospital (41318) from last year, it is was 6 years ago since we had our first hospital-inspired City build with LEGO City Helicopter Rescue (4429), which in all honesty, looks more like a typical clinic rather than a complete hospital.
The LEGO City Hospital (60204) features a three-storey building, an ambulance, an emergency helicopter, and a dozen minifigures including a baby minifig. It also has some pretty interesting accessories such as a wheelchair, a baby stroller, and a light brick. A like the clever use of the light brick to act like a sort of projector for an x-ray machine. It is said to come in at 861 pieces and is expected to retail for 80 Euros. We have no info yet on its exact release date but we’ll update you as soon as more news comes in. For now, let’s enjoy these images.
Early this year, we gave a brief coverage on The Toys that Made Us, a Netflix documentary series by Brian Volk-Weiss that discussed the history of some of the greatest branded toy lines of past and present. Slated for 8 episodes, four of them were released before a lengthy hiatus.
Now, almost four months since Netflix made available the first four episodes of The Toys that Made Us for streaming, we have a release schedule for the latter half of this documentary; the first of which, episode 5, will cover what we in the Brick Show discuss every day: LEGO.
As our previous article on this documentary feature for LEGO stated, Netflix, Brian Volk-Weiss and The Nacelle Company have as part of the presentation, some LEGO subject-matter expert AFOLs courtesy of Bricks LA. That ought to ensure that The Toys that Made Us would include in-depth information on LEGO history.
In addition to that, there will also be scenes and perhaps interviews to be done at LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark. You can’t get more first-hand info and company stories than that. I suppose we can now wait in full confidence that this show’s LEGO episode will be respectfully spot-on.
The earlier half of The Toys that Made Us, put up on Netflix last December 27, 2017 included episodes covering Kenner’s Star Wars, Mattel’s Barbie and He-Man, and Hasbro’s G.I. Joe. The latter – May 25 – episodes, aside from LEGO, will also feature Hasbro’s Transformers, Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and Star Trek.
It was like only just this weekend when LEGO gave a lot of (freezing) cool love to its City lineup when it released the official images for a subtheme in the Arctic. You might recall there were seven LEGO City Arctic sets there (60190-60196) to build a polar base.
But if you happen to like any other location than the freezing topmost north for your LEGO City-building, then perhaps this alternative will be to your liking. There’s another LEGO City set coming our way that trades the frigid Arctic for the Outdoors: LEGO City People Pack – Outdoor Adventures (60202).
As with most of the reveals that happened over the weekend, this news came from another outside source, a Sarajevo store certified for LEGO. For only 164 pieces and 13 (plus one baby) minifigures, you can recreate a sweet nature park with a variety of activities with some video documentation.
By that we mean Outdoor Adventures (60202) comes with a sports camera and a mobile phone with selfie stick. That’s not to mention some new additions like a differently-colored mountain bike and redesigned optional life jackets. Oh, and who can resist a little LEGO tile that depicts a fried egg?
Now, aside from the knowledge that LEGO City 60202 exists, we have yet no idea when it’ll be announced for anywhere outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the moment. Hopefully we’ll get more international updates on this LEGO City People Pack, so it won’t be left behind by the Arctic.
