After some relatively minor controversies, the LEGO Ideas Second 2019 Review Stage finally commences as announced over at the LEGO Ideas blog site. With more than 10K fans supporting each of these 10 product ideas, the window for the qualifying period between May to September 2019 has already closed. Those entries that will hit the 10K mark will be considered for the next review period which will begin on January 6, 2020.
The LEGO Ideas Review Team is still hard at work wrapping up the First 2019 LEGO Review Stage so its exciting to see how this will turn out. I’m personally cheering for 123 Sesame Street Apartment Building by Ivan Guerrero so I hope this build gets selected. Last month, LEGO celebrated the release of its latest LEGO City sets by challenging builders to come up with their most imaginative builds that will bring us closer to the dream of space travel. The LEGO Ideas Moon to Mars building contest is now on the Winner Announcement Phase, with four entries being chosen as the best among the numerous entries that were submitted throughout the month of July. Eventually, it all boiled down to 2 Runner-Ups, 1 Grand Prize Winner, and another wild card entry awarded with a Bonus Prize. Check out these impressive, out-of-the-box, space-worthy creations coming from the innovative minds of our LEGO fan community.
The Starship Jordan Miller is the culmination of the hard work and cooperation of 16 countries coming together with a single purpose: go from the Moon to Mars. This spacecraft was inspired by the friendship and cooperation of 2 brilliant spaceship designers, Jordan and Miller. The Starship is propelled by a single nuclear engine in the back and powered by 11 main solar arrays with additional support from the solar arrays of the docked spacecraft. There are 8 docking ports along the main body. 2 Russian Korolev Deep Space Crew Transports bring the crew from earth to a Lunar Retrograde Orbit to dock with the Jordan Miller. There are also 3 Infinity Cargo Supply spacecraft (grey spacecraft with the gold circular arrays) from Japan and Spain docked to supply food, water, and other necessities for the long journey to Mars. At the front are 2 MDAVs (Mars Descent Ascent Vehicles) to explore Mars. It also has 3 robotic arms. It has a crew of 20 people.
“The Lunar to Mars Embedded Spacecraft” (LME) is built within the core of a dislodged moon rock. The rock, being rich in ice, is used as both a shield and a fuel source. The LME is designed to carry smaller spacecraft with it on its long haul to mars. These included: two scout ships, the Verdigris Landing shuttle, and the Jupiter rover. During the trek, they will be used for maintenance and ice mining. Once the LME reaches mars orbit, the Verdigris and Jupiter will be used to land on and explore the surface. The initial launch will be a slingshot maneuver around the moon after which the engines keep a steady thrust on route to Mars!
Once LEGO City had set up a permanent research station on the Moon, they knew it was time to aim for Mars. They created the Lego Moon to Mars Initiative, an International Organization dedicated to sending Minifigure kind from the Lunar surface to the Red Planet. Scientists from Lego City, Bricksburg, and from across the studded seas in Bricklandia, came and designed the most powerful Slingshot ever. This method saves enormous amounts of fuel normally required for escape velocity, and is only possible on the Moon, where gravity is less than Earth’s. Four Astronauts were chosen for the mission, and after years of training, they are finally ready. Buckle up. It’s gonna be a ride.

Last week, we first reported a rather puzzling move by the LEGO Ideas Team on two LEGO Ideas archived projects that made it through the 10K fan support milestone. Unfortunately, these product ideas – the Gravity Falls Mystery Shack by Figura and Japanese Tea Garden by Coosey Goosey – were later removed from the Achieved Support page which will make them eligible for the Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage.
It didn’t help much also that LEGO was quite mum regarding the reasons behind this issue since a lot of LEGO fan support went out to these product ideas with the hope of seeing them as actual LEGO sets in the near future. Needless to say, it left most fans of the LEGO Ideas platforms scratching their heads a bit, searching for possible answers to this unusual situation.
However, it now looks like that LEGO is now giving fans an idea of what has happened that led them to make such an unusually tough decision. LEGO opted to break their silence over the matter so that fans may have a better understanding of what really transpired with these LEGO Ideas archived projects.

Although questions haven’t directly come in via LAN, I can understand there are some questions about the recent archival of the two LEGO Ideas 10K Club submissions Japanese Tea Gardens and Gravity Falls Mystery Shack.
It’s incredibly rare that we make the decision to remove submissions that have achieved the 10,000 supporter milestone and to not allow them through to the review stage. Unfortunately, after a thorough evaluation we made the tough decision (because we can clearly see that both models are incredibly well built) that in these two cases we had to do this as the submissions did not comply with our Terms of Service. We couldn’t, in respect to the LEGO Ideas community, move the submissions into the review stage as well as award prizes, whether the main prize or the consolation prize, to the members in question.
Although we know that you’re all very interested in knowing the specific underlying reasons for why we decided to archive them, this is not information that I can share with you out of respect for the privacy of the members in question. Should the members in question choose to share the reason for the archival of their submissions, then they are welcome to do so.
From what we can learn from LEGO’s statement, it looks like the Gravity Falls Mystery Shack and Japanese Tea Garden entries violated the LEGO Ideas’ Terms of Service. Obviously, it’s a broad statement, to say the least since we have no way of knowing exactly what this particular breach in TOS is LEGO is exactly referring to.
It could be anything in particular within that lengthy agreement, but according to the exchange of discussion within the LAN group, it was mentioned that one of the builders of these entries was a previous LEGO Store employee. That could point out a possible reason why these product ideas were eventually shelved. I guess these are speculations, to say the least, until such time that the owners of these product ideas will speak and share their own side of the story. LEGO made it clear that they are free to do so, and it’s now up to Coosey Goosey and Figura if they wish to shed more light on this matter.

Remember last June when the LEGO Ideas platform launched a contest to create the most unique, custom LEGO brick-built hybrid dinosaurs? Well, it turns out that these builds have finely gone out of their shells and we now have three winning entries that show what happens when LEGO is unintentionally (?) mixed with dino DNA. There are three winners from this recent LEGO Ideas contest, with one bringing home the bacon for the wackiest dino creation around. Let’s check these winners from the LEGO Ideas Unleash Your Own Genetically Modified Hybrid Dinosaur.
First off, we have two Runner-Ups: one that this seems to be the stuff of brick nightmares if you happen to stumble upon a real one, while the other is so cute and adorable, you might need to stop yourself from eating it.
“Some kind of Monster,” Dr. Henry Wu said as he saw his new creation. He decided to mix up the DNA of the Tyrannosaurus Rex with some predators of our world, to get one of the most dangerous and scary creatures ever seen: The Tyrannosaurus Scorpio Tigris.

This wonder of science came after a company birthday party gone wrong. Some Dino DNA mixed with the cake and the Tricaketops was born! Half Triceratops, half Cake. It’s known for its durable frosting skin, candle horns, cupcake feet, and delicious taste!
It seems that someone did not follow the rules of the laboratory, and some milk remains fell on the samples! This dinosaur is a mixture between a T-rex and an ordinary cow, it is not dangerous, but it can’t be milked by anyone, and protects cows and farm animals that naturally seek its habitat.
Ironically I used a mini cleaver piece (98369) to make the ears, and the minifig hairpiece 25379 to make the hooves.
Does anyone want some milk?

We have another LEGO product idea that achieved the coveted 10K fan support. The Seven Dwarfs’ House by fan builder Hanwasyellowfirst managed to climb its way to the Second 2019 Review Stage thanks to the 10,000 LEGO fans who voted for it to become a potential, official LEGO set.
This product idea is based on Disney’s classic 1937 full-length animated movie, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs. The build also features some of the characteristics of the Seven Dwarfs Mine Ride as seen in Walt Disney World, Florida.
If ever chosen to be the next LEGO Ideas set (hopefully, with no more surprises coming from the LEGO Ideas Team similar to what happened to two archived qualifying product ideas), then we can expect a nice number of minifigures that will go with this set as well. The Seven Dwarfs’ House
Hey everyone, here is my new submission to LEGO Ideas! I wanted to pay homage to Walt Disney’s first full length animated feature, Snow White and The Seven Dwarfs.
The build is inspired by a mixture of the house featured in the 1937 Disney Classic, and the physical recreation at Walt Disney World, situated in the Seven Dwarfs Mine Train Ride.

I’m a huge fan of LEGO minifigure vignettes and it goes to show that the people behind the LEGO House in Billund also has a soft spot for this form of LEGO art. In celebration of the 2nd year anniversary of the LEGO House this 2019, LEGO Ideas launched a contest that encourages builders to create fun builds that will wow visitors in the famous House of the Brick. This building contest ran for a month from May 6 to June 6, with the winners announced a couple of months ago. The contest had quite a following with more than 40 winning entries that were chosen. Out of this group of winners, there are 21 winning minifigure vignettes that were specifically chosen to have the bragging rights of being displayed for a year inside the LEGO House until 2020.
These 21 winning minifigure vignettes depict our little actors either in the business of doing their daily chores or living out the adventure of their lifetime. What makes these winning entries stand out is the particular brand of LEGO humor that they convey which is quickly recognizable to any LEGO fan.
Not only do the creators of these minifig depictions got the bragging rights of displaying their work inside the House of the Brick, but they also received the exclusive LEGO House Dinosaurs (40366) set that can never be found anywhere else. As a badge of their outstanding accomplishment, each of the winners was also awarded a uniquely printed personalized LEGO brick, with the name and country of the builder to accompany the model.

A man was getting his cup of coffee one day from the Coffee Cup Cafe. Along comes a Gingerbread Man carrying a red cup, like this is nothing odd. Presumably, he also wants a coffee. That or he wants to ask for spare change or donations for something. The man and the barista have never seen anything like this before and just stare open-mouthed at him in surprise.
The Royal Guard is just doing his duty. Some annoying tourists come along and decide to see if they can distract him. One of the tourists is taking a photo while the other two try to get a reaction by brandishing an ice cream and a hot dog in his face. The Royal Guard is getting ticked off and is doing all he can to not lose his temper. A bobby policeman has just entered the scene – will he tell the tourists off?
Take to the waves with this creation of a surfing wave. A shark minifig deftly maneuvers the surfboard through the wave. Unlike the surfer who has just wiped out and the wave has sent him “over the falls!”
What a bright sunny day it is on the seaside fishing pier! The old fisherman is out enjoying his weekend fishing trip, waiting for a bite on his line and making sure those pesky seagulls don’t get into his lunchbox. However, the clever great white shark has his own weekend surprise… A weekend snack to be precise!

From giant crystals to strange alien creatures, The Space Miners’ Cavern is full of surprises! A heavy-duty trapdoor protects the valuable energy crystals below and doubles up as a way to keep the local inhabitants from making unexpected visits to the surface (at least theoretically).
As the swimming race is about to start, the contestants take their places on the starter blocks. One swimmer looks over at his fellow swimmers and is surprised to see a person in a shark costume and another person in a penguin costume. Sharks and penguins may be good swimming animals, but does wearing a costume means a better or faster swimmer? We will just have to see who wins the race!
A spaceman has returned from his latest adventure with a batch of flowers, how thoughtful! Unfortunately for him, the foreign floral he brought back is the favorite snack of the space monster that has followed him back to base.
This detailed model depicts a Japanese lady looking into the water during a walk in her garden. It contains a koi pond, pagoda bridge, bamboo, and many different kinds of trees in its 37 studs long x 27 studs wide x 22 studs high area and is the perfect display model. This model is designed to test the limits of what Lego can do and how Lego can look with its elegant arches, gentle slopes, and picturesque stepping stones.

As the 50th Anniversary of both Walt Disney World and its version of The Haunted Mansion approaches, I wanted to offer up this project up as a tribute to a truly iconic attraction.
Fans young and old will be able to appreciate a hauntingly displayable front and a playable back with plenty of spooky rooms from the attraction to explore.
Welcome to 100 Acre Wood, the home of Winnie the Pooh and his friends. Explore Pooh’s home with Winnie the Pooh himself, Tigger, Rabbit, Owl (he’s sitting in the tree), Piglet and Eeyore.
This fun creation has been designed to look great as a display piece but also has great playability. With a removable house roof access to Pooh’s house and also the hidden nesting area in the tree is made easy.
With this model, I aimed to capture the beauty, tranquility, and style of the traditional Japanese Tea Garden.
This model contains many of the iconic features of Japanese Tea Gardens, including several statues, a torii, bonsai trees, a pond, a tall arched bridge, a pagoda, and a bench to sit on, relax, and take it all in.
At the backside of the model, the ground is cut away to reveal tree roots, a koi fish in the stream, and a hidden underground cavern.
This small kinetic sculpture is designed to celebrate the wonder of flight. The two planes tilt as they move from side to side, giving the illusion of flying gracefully through the air. The mechanism is controlled using a crank on the side of the model.

I am very happy to present to you, my Medieval Blacksmith. (This model inspired me by Cabanaminis – you can also find Merchant’s house there).
After two months of work, my model was finished. I put a special focus on many small details and the design. Also, I’ve varied a lot with the colors to give the Blacksmith the best possible expression. A harmonious color scheme was important as well, but one of the biggest challenges was the roof because there are many different angles and special techniques.
Of course, there is also an interior in this model. You can explore two different storeys, which you can see by a lift-off technique. On the first storey the forge can be seen and on the second is the living area.
From the outside, the Medieval Blacksmith is surrounded by many plants, animals and a large tree. Moreover, this set includes 3 minifigures and a lot of small details. In addition, the big carmine is characteristic of this set.
Here you can learn a lot from the past, and meet characters and works that are important to this day.
You will find the tomb of Anubis, the Discobolus of Myron, the Sunflowers of Van Gogh, The Fabergé Egg and many other works and artifacts without forgetting the pendant chandelier. It is a modular building with 3 floors fully compatible with the official Lego buildings. This product idea includes a Museum Director, Receptionist, Security guard, History Teacher, Student Photographer, and a Female Tourist.
The winners have been chosen! If you recall from last June, the LEGO Ideas platform launched a contest that challenges builders to come up with their wackiest Bedrock inventions inspired by the recent LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316) set. The building champs have been finally selected, with a grand prize winner and two runner-ups bringing home the titles of being the coolest builders around Bedrock. These are fun builds actually, and I would definitely like to try and build them myself if given the opportunity. Let’s check them out.
This build is amazing at so many levels. First off, I’m a fan of mini and microbuilds and this winning entry from Digibricks_Kit managed to capture all these familiar dinos in such a tiny scale. The best part of it is that this minibuild was even able to provide a humorous context for this creation where a three-stud tall Fred and Barney are easily seen busy operating their, well, dinos.

As an added bonus, this launch platform is mobile! Strapped to the back of a happy dino, you can take off from anywhere you’d like! The Mammoth Rocket is still being tested, but the engineers have high hopes of reaching space… possibly even traveling to the greatest rock quarry of all time, the moon!

Additionally, the latest soon-to-be-released 2019 LEGO Overwatch sets – Wrecking Ball (75976) and Junkrat & Roadhog (75977) – will also be given away to the winning entries. These sets are still slated to be released on October 1st, so the winners will clearly have an early try on these sets.
To finally top it off, the winners will also have the chance of having a yet to be revealed LEGO Overwatch exclusive set which contains several pistol elements in unique gold variants. According to LEGO, they will only release 250 box sets with these rare LEGO pieces so this is something that you may want to include in your LEGO Overwatch collection. Though they haven’t specified on what LEGO Overwatch sets these rare pieces will be included, I guess it will be included in the limited edition LEGO Overwatch Tracer set that they will unveil later on. As an added bonus, winners will also get some Overwatch merchandise as proof of being Junkertown’s most awesome LEGO builder.
