Here’s How You Can Be the First LEGO Masters US Champion

Do you have what it takes to be the ultimate LEGO MOC master? If you’ve been following EndemolShine’s hit LEGO-themed reality show in the UK and Australia, then you’ll be happy to know that LEGO Masters will be arriving soon in the US. The news came in a few days ago, and this time around auditions are now open for those who are ready for LEGO stardom.

A dedicated website for LEGO Masters US is now live, ready to accept applications for LEGO builders teams of 2. Just be sure to read and answer all the questions carefully and to choose the best LEGO masterpiece that you want to show to the casting team. I’m hoping Tyler and Sean from Build Better Bricks will consider applying. With the vast LEGO building talents that we have locally, I’m sure it will be an enormous task in coming up with the final twelve pairs of contestants. Read on for the full press release.

FOX Entertainment has acquired the U.S. format rights for the hit British

reality-competition series “LEGO® MASTERS,” to air on FOX and be

produced by Endemol Shine North America, Tuesdayʼs Child and Brad Pittʼs

Plan B Entertainment, it was announced today by Rob Wade, President of

Alternative Entertainment and Specials, for FOX Entertainment.

Already a success in the U.K., Australia and Germany, LEGO MASTERS

brings imagination, design and creativity to life when teams of LEGO

enthusiasts go head-to-head, with infinite possibilities and an unlimited

supply of LEGO bricks. Twelve teams of two will compete against each

other in ambitious brick-building challenges to be crowned the countryʼs

most talented amateur LEGO builders. In each episode, the competing pairs

who impress the judges the most will progress to the next round, until the finale, during which the three top teams will face off for the ultimate LEGO

trophy and the grand title of LEGO MASTERS.

“LEGO MASTERS has everything you want in a reality-competition: an incredibly quirky and unique twist on a brand revered by billions of people,

exciting team-based battles driven by creativity, and a premise thatʼs ultra family-friendly,” said Wade. “Itʼs bold, fun and unlike anything else on

television, and weʼre thrilled to bring LEGO MASTERS to American fans.”

Originally created by Tuesdayʼs Child, LEGO MASTERS first launched on the

U.K.ʼs Channel 4 in 2017, when it quickly became the networkʼs highest-

rated new series, nearly doubling its primetime average with young adults.

Since then, LEGO MASTERS has been renewed by Channel 4 and local

versions of the successful format have begun launching around the world.

Most recently, Endemol Shine Australia produced a local version for Nine,

which became an instant hit, averaging more than 2.0 million viewers, and

ranked as the countryʼs #1 program among all key demos. Additionally,

Endemol Shine Germany successfully produced the series for RTL.

Plan B will executive produce the FOX series along with Sharon Levy, DJ

Nurre and Michael Heyerman from Endemol Shine North America; Karen

Smith and Steph Harris from Tuesdayʼs Child; Jill Wilfert and Robert May

from The LEGO Group.

LEGO MASTERS will be produced by Endemol Shine North America and

Tuesdayʼs Child under license from The LEGO Group, for The LEGO Group.

Check Out the Winners of the LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things Building Contest

Along with the hype surrounding the third season of Netflix’s hit series Stranger Things, and the subsequent release of the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810), the LEGO Ideas Team has announced a new building contest that challenges LEGO builders to come up with their best Stranger Things inspired original creation. The LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things Building Contest ran from May 15 to June 19 and now, the winners are finally revealed.

The announcement was made over at the LEGO Ideas blog site, beginning with the Grand Prize winning entry, ‘The Tunnels‘ by builder MartiMovi.

This particular MOC takes its inspiration from the vast tunnel system that the inter-dimensional aliens created underground. Though compact in size, it perfectly captured the details of the pumpkin patch and the descent that the team made led by Dustin. The level of detail on these underground tunnels is spot-on including its dark and dank environment and creepy tentacles. For added realism to this set, MartiMovi even added a minifigure scaled Demodog for good measure.

One of the first runner-up titles for the LEGO Ideas Iconically Stranger Things building contest was awarded to builder Ragaru for the ‘Demogorgon Figure‘. I have to admit right off the bat that this is one of the exceptionally mean-looking, and downright monstrous brick-built model of an already terrifying creature that I’ve ever seen. Ragaru’s fluid and organic brick composition simply gave this poseable other-worldly creature a more horrifying presence. As much as I love this build, I have no qualms over the fact that it ended as a runner-up. This build is so horrific that I dread the idea of seeing this at the hands of a younger LEGO builder.

Finally, we have a rather simple looking, but definitely an advanced build from accomplished builder, saabfan. Entitled ‘The Gang on Bikes‘, this MOC may look simplistic at first, but taking a closer look reveals how he cleverly used few LEGO pieces to capture the important details of each Hawkins character. I’m always impressed by minibuilds such as this because scaling things down in LEGO form while remaining faithful to how the original subject looks like is surely an impressive feat.

Both the Grand Prize winner and Runner-Ups will receive the LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) set valued at $200 USD. The Grand Prize winner will also receive a $300 USD shopping spree at LEGO Shop@Home, while Runner Ups will get a $200 USD LEGO Shop@Home voucher. LEGO Ideas From The Moon to Mars Building Contest Launched

In line with the release of the new space-inspired LEGO City sets, the LEGO Ideas website has announced a new building contest that will challenge builders to come up with their most out-of-this-world brick creations using LEGO bricks. Imagine a space vehicle capable of traveling from your minifigure moon base to the mysterious red planet. Or find ways on how you can help NASA achieve this dream and demonstrate it using your very own original LEGO creation. LEGO Ideas Hybrid Dinosaur Building Contest Announced

Just in time for the official reveal of the massive LEGO Jurassic World Jurassic Park: T.rex Rampage (75936) set a few days ago, the LEGO Ideas team posted its newest building contest that challenges fans to create their coolest, out-of-this-world hybrid dinosaur using LEGO bricks. Ever imagine a T.rex flying around on Pterodactyl wings or a huge brontosaurus with stegosaurus plating? Then get ready to pick your bricks in this LEGO Ideas Hybrid Dinosaur building contest.

From June 12 until July 17, builders can unleash their wildest dino brick creation to get a chance to bring home the entire line-up of 2019 LEGO Jurassic World sets. The Grand Prize winner will win the following:

Two Runner-Up winners will also be chosen, and each of them will bring home the 3,120-piece T.rex Rampage (75936) set. Same as with previous contests, both physical and digital entries are allowed using either LEGO Digital Designer or other third-party LEGO CAD software such as Studio or Mecabricks. What is nice about this contest, in particular, is that builders are allowed to include generic or LEGO Jurassic World minifigures. However, bear in mind that other third-party licensed minifigures are not allowed.

The LEGO Ideas Team launches another c0ntest that will push your creative bricks back into prehistoric times. With the release of the LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316) set, comes another building contest that encourages fan builders to be the ultimate Bedrock building champ by coming up with the coolest brick-built Bedrock invention in this next LEGO Ideas contest.

The LEGO Ideas Transform Your LEGO Bricks Into Wacky Bedrock Inventions contest submission phase will run from June 6 to July 10 where contestants can come up with their most creative and funny MOCs based on the wacky world of the Flintstones. The International Space Station Will Be The Next LEGO Ideas Set

After more than 2 weeks of gathering support from the LEGO fan community, the winner of the LEGO Ideas Extraordinary 10 Year Anniversary Fan Vote has been finally revealed. Since May 20, four wildcard entries were selected to vie to become the next LEGO Ideas set on the basis of popular fan support. And although it is with a heavy heart that my favorite blue alien was not voted to be the top choice, I am still glad that the winning entry will give more value to LEGO’s revamped LEGO City Space theme. A big congratulations to the International Space Station by XCLD, for garnering a total of 10,438 votes and now on its way to becoming the next LEGO Ideas set!

With a total of 45.6% share of all the votes cast during the voting period, the International Space Station by XCLD is now on its way to becoming the next LEGO Ideas set which is set to launch in 2020. If there’s any consolation for me and for the rest of those who wish to see Tyler’s (aka legohaulic) creation, I’m glad to see that Disney’s Stitch got the second highest number of votes with 5,739 votes, followed by Sega Classic Arcade Machines by SpacySmoke with 3,788 votes, and Small YELLOW by Nathan Sawaya with 2,924 votes.

In a way, the International Space Station represents what the LEGO community has been looking forward to in a very long time. With the recent announcement of the LEGO City Space sets, together with the LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander (10266), the International Space Station is like a sort of cherry on top for LEGO Space fans. It is the pinnacle of space exploration and I’m sure that the LEGO Ideas design team will come up with its best version of this winning build.

Again, congratulations to XCLD for a sweeping victory and to all the other contestants who participated.

Check Out These Winners for the LEGO Ideas Design A Virtual Floor Contest for the LEGO Tower Mobile Game

As part of promoting LEGO’s new mobile game, LEGO Tower, the LEGO Ideas Team has launched the LEGO Ideas Design a Virtual Floor for the LEGO Tower Game last March, which eventually turned out to be one of the contest platform’s most popular competitions as of to date. With over 560 entries, the judges weighed in their bets and have now chosen the final six winners that will get to take home a LEGO Creator Expert Corner Garage (10264) and LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313), plus a total LEGO Shop@Home shopping spree worth $200 USD.

These final six winners will also get the bragging rights of having their original creations converted digitally and to be integrated as an actual floor in the LEGO Tower game. Each MOC entry is specifically measured at 32 studs wide, 12 studs deep and 9 bricks tall. It should also have a door wide and tall enough to accommodate a minifigure. Each floor build must only comprise of the room itself without any minifigs included. For the rest, its all up to the builder’s imagination.

LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils Skeletons Will be Our Next Official LEGO Ideas Set

After the thrilling announcement of the LEGO Ideas 10 Years Anniversary Fan Vote where we see our little, blue brick alien making a comeback as a possible LEGO Ideas set, host Ali Plumb and LEGO Ideas Associate Engagament Manager Hasan Jensen, have just announced the next official LEGO Ideas set that will hit store shelves this year. If you’re a dino fan and would love to have your very own brick-built dino museum, then be sure to watch out for Jonathan Brunn’s (aka Mukkinn) LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils Skeletons.

The Dinosaur Fossils Skeletons topped the rest of the five finalists in the LEGO Ideas Third 2018 Review Stage, besting entries such as the Chemical Plant, Food Stand Diners, Queen Victoria Cruise Ship, and the Playable LEGO Piano. Though there is no confirmed pricing and piece count as of the moment, this upcoming LEGO Ideas set is slated to be launched this year so we can bet that we’ll hear some words from the LEGO Ideas Design Team very soon.

Same as in previous reviews, we have a wildcard of a set so to speak in the form of Donny Chen’s (aka SleepyCow) spot-on, brick-built replica of a Playable LEGO Piano. This intricate model of a Grand Piano is still possible to become an official LEGO set, so let’s cross our fingers and see if it will eventually receive the thumbs up from the review board.

Here’s Another Chance to See That LEGO Ideas Stitch Happen!

This is a great way to start the morning (coming from this side of my world, that is)! Just saw this on my Twitter feed where LEGO Ideas just recently opened another round of voting for previously chosen LEGO Ideas projects as part of their LEGO Ideas 10 Years Anniversary – Fan Vote. Since its debut in October 2016, Tyler’s LEGO Ideas Stitch product idea has caught my attention being a fan of Disney’s little blue alien. After actively campaigning for Lendy Tayag’s LEGO Ideas Voltron, I wouldn’t have second thoughts on seeing an official LEGO Ideas Stitch standing beside my prized brick robot. However, it seems that the LEGO Ideas may have shot down my brick dream when the design team opted for the The Flintstones and The Treehouse as the winning sets for the Second 2018 LEGO Ideas Review Stage. Imagine the agony of not seeing Stitch in all of his LEGO glory! Well truth be told, I somehow felt this coming not because that I don’t believe will turn out to be a great LEGO Ideas set, but because it might be potentially at odds with the contest platform’s product idea guidelines.

I guess my fears have been finally slayed when this time around, we can have another chance of seeing LEGO Ideas Stitch happen! Check out what the LEGO Ideas Review Team has to say.

Why the Special Review?

This all started as we reminisced on these past years, the product ideas that had been turned into official sets and all those that hadn’t. It led to the realization that we definitely wanted to celebrate those past product ideas that hadn’t made it, for one reason or another, even more and thereby to give them a second chance. All these thoughts kickstarted the special anniversary review, where we had to determine which product ideas still had the potential to become an official set based on our usual review criteria that encompasses aspects such as brand fit, build quality, feasibility, licensing possibilities, expected demand, current and future LEGO products and much more.

The internal review of these previous product idea entries resulted in 4 finalists: we have the International Space Station by XCLD, SEGA Classic Arcade Machines by SpacySmoke (which is also one of my favs), Small YELLOW by LEGO Certified Professional Nathan Sawaya, and (drum roll please) LEGO Ideas Stitch by our very own Tyler Clites (aka legohaulic).

LEGO fans have until June 4 to vote which among these four can become an official LEGO Ideas set. The product idea that gets the most votes (cast through secret balloting) during the fan voting stage will qualify for the product development phase until we see it as an official LEGO product. What is great about this second chance is the fact that it is now entirely on the hands of the LEGO fan community to see which among these four entries will land on LEGO Store shelves.
