ICYMI: Here Are Some of the LEGO Star Wars 2021 Sets Slated for March

Back in October last year, we published an exhaustive list of LEGO 2021 sets that are expected to be available sometime in the first quarter of this year. And this time around, just in case you missed it, Brickset has updated its database to now include three upcoming LEGO Star Wars 2021 sets slated for a March release.

Additionally, Hoth Bricks have also mentioned that some online third-party retailers, particularly Bulgarian online store Comsed, has begun publishing some of these LEGO Star Wars 2021 sets but later removed the listing from their shopping portal.

Here’s a quick look at three of these LSW offerings.

These LEGO Star Wars 2021 sets are still yet to appear over at LEGO Shop@Home, but seeing them being posted early by other retailers is an indication that we might get to officially see them any time soon. I am also looking forward to seeing this year’s LEGO Star Wars UCS set (75303) and another LEGO Star Wars Mandalorian set (75299) that are rumored to be released in the first half of this year. I’ll be updating this post once more information comes in.

A Look at the Rest of the LEGO Star Wars Sets Slated for Triple Force Friday

After LEGO has officially unveiled its initial wave of sets based off from the upcoming Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker film, brick fans of the highly celebrated franchise will also get additional LEGO Star Wars sets to include in their collection. As I’ve mentioned before, this may strictly no longer come in as a surprise since these sets were made available already by some third-party retailers ahead of their scheduled embargo. These sets even landed on the hands of some LEGO reviewers across YouTube so most of you may already have a good grasp on what these new LEGO Star Wars sets have to offer. But in any case, and if for some reason, you haven’t kept tabs on what’s happening lately on this side of the brick galaxy, then read on for full product descriptions and some crisp, close-up images of these sets. These and much more are all slated for an official global release during next week’s Triple Force Friday.

Other than LEGO Star Wars The Rise of the Skywalker tie-in sets, these new LEGO sets are based on some of the early Star Wars films, and one which takes inspiration from the upcoming Disney+ series, The Mandalorian. As of this posting, these sets are not yet listed at LEGO Shop@Home but we can be sure that these sets will go live once Triple Force Friday kicks in on October 4th.

Check Out These Winning Brick-Built Hybrid Dinosaurs From LEGO Ideas

Remember last June when the LEGO Ideas platform launched a contest to create the most unique, custom LEGO brick-built hybrid dinosaurs? Well, it turns out that these builds have finely gone out of their shells and we now have three winning entries that show what happens when LEGO is unintentionally (?) mixed with dino DNA. There are three winners from this recent LEGO Ideas contest, with one bringing home the bacon for the wackiest dino creation around. Let’s check these winners from the LEGO Ideas Unleash Your Own Genetically Modified Hybrid Dinosaur.

First off, we have two Runner-Ups: one that this seems to be the stuff of brick nightmares if you happen to stumble upon a real one, while the other is so cute and adorable, you might need to stop yourself from eating it.

Runner Ups

Tyrannosaurus Scorpio Tigris by Langemann Lego

Brick-Built Hybrid Dinosaurs

“Some kind of Monster,” Dr. Henry Wu said as he saw his new creation. He decided to mix up the DNA of the Tyrannosaurus Rex with some predators of our world, to get one of the most dangerous and scary creatures ever seen: The Tyrannosaurus Scorpio Tigris.

Some DNA of a Scorpion for armor, poison and useable claws.

Some DNA of a tiger for bigger fangs, better ears, and eyes.

856 parts.

Hopefully, his creation will not break out…

Brick-Built Hybrid Dinosaurs

This wonder of science came after a company birthday party gone wrong. Some Dino DNA mixed with the cake and the Tricaketops was born! Half Triceratops, half Cake. It’s known for its durable frosting skin, candle horns, cupcake feet, and delicious taste!

Grand Prize

Tyrannocow (T-cow) by yop1172

Brick-Built Hybrid Dinosaurs

It seems that someone did not follow the rules of the laboratory, and some milk remains fell on the samples! This dinosaur is a mixture between a T-rex and an ordinary cow, it is not dangerous, but it can’t be milked by anyone, and protects cows and farm animals that naturally seek its habitat.
Ironically I used a mini cleaver piece (98369) to make the ears, and the minifig hairpiece 25379 to make the hooves.
Does anyone want some milk?
These brick-built hybrid dinosaurs winners got to bring home an impressive array of 2019 LEGO Jurassic World sets (for the Grand Prize winner), plus the gargantuan Jurassic Park T.rex Rampage (75936) set. All of these sets are currently available at LEGO Shop@Home in case you want to take a look.
I personally want to build that Tyrannocow and Tricaketops myself. Which one is your favorite? Let me know in the comments below.
Congratulations to all the winners!

New “LEGO Movie” Airline Safety Video for Turkish Airlines Voted Top PR Campaign for February 2019

In August last year, LEGO and Warner Bros. partnered with Turkish Airlines to hit two targets with a single shot. The last one needed an invigorating airline safety video for their passenger planes; the former two wanted an early promotion to the now-long premiered “LEGO Movie 2.” The result of that collaboration was comedy gold.

Starkly contrasting the struggle of “The LEGO Movie 2” itself on the box office, the film’s LEGO set tie-ins and other promotional extras fared better. Turkish Airlines decided a second run was well earned and thus got WB and LEGO to make a follow-up airline safety video with added characters and extras from the sequel.

As you can see, the new video includes Queen Watevra, Sweet Mayhem, Rex Dangervest and even first-film characters who didn’t figure much in the original production like Metalbeard and Benny. It also features several location changes across major international cities reached by Turkish Airlines, all rendered in crisp CGI LEGO. Oh, and LEGO Batman is the director. Absolute hilarity ensues.

The new LEGO Turkish Airlines safety video was released online just last week, and already public relations analysts are gaga over it. PR Week has listed five of their favorite recent campaigns in the industry. There’s no prize for guessing what the top PR gig was on their February list.

For their online survey with 1,202 respondents, 939 of them voted overwhelmingly for the latest LEGO Turkish Airlines video. That’s not bad, and a balm for the “LEGO Movie” franchise that, through the dismal performance of “LEGO Movie 2,” has been speculated to be concluded as a WB film franchise.

“LEGO Movie 2” Pods – Emmet (853874) and Sweet Mayhem (853875) Now Available Online at Shop@Home

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” is now set to complete its first week in the box office, While its opening weekend saw a number 1 debut despite being markedly less than the premiere of the first film in 2014, LEGO and Warner Bros. are still positive thanks to good critic reviews.

In the meantime, a good number of new LEGO sets tying in to the animated blockbuster sequel have been available on retail and online. Among them are character pods for the film’s characters such as Emmet (853874) and Sweet Mayhem (853875), previewed only last month but are now available on LEGO Shop@Home.

853874 (6)

Both LEGO Movie 2 pods are expectedly similar to all products of this theme, containing a character minifigure (or mini-doll figure in case of Sweet Mayhem) plus plenty of accessories that can be held in the character’s hands, attached to their body, or assembled with the pods themselves to create a crane for 853874 and DJ station for 853875, respectively.

These pods also have on their front lids some lenticular images that alternate between showing the faces of Emmet or Mayhem, and the “LEGO Movie 2” logo. It’s plain to see that these LEGO Movie 2 Pods can easily cater to sectors of the general LEGO fan base, with minifigure Emmet geared towards “traditional” LEGO designs and mini-doll figure Sweet Mayhem for the LEGO Friends market due to similar aesthetics.

Both the Emmet (853874) and Mayhem (853875) “Lego Movie 2” character pods are priced at $8.99 on Shop@Home. Several other movie tie-ins are already either similarly available to these two, or will be so by late February or early March.

First Images of the New LEGO City Passenger and Cargo Trains

It looks like it’s not just the LEGO Technic Rough Terrain Crane (42082) that was revealed earlier during the Russian Toy Fair, but we also have a first look at the new LEGO City train sets that will be available this August. If you recall, we first made mention of these sets back in January when they were first announced during the Nuremberg Toy Fair. However, same as with any other exclusive toy fairs, LEGO has been quite firm in preventing any unwanted leaks. But this time around LEGO seemed to have relaxed on the restrictions, and has allowed fans and visitors of the toy fair to take some pictures and to share them to the rest of the LEGO fan community.

Thanks to Instagram user dimaks_lego,  we can now have an idea on how these new LEGO City train sets will be like. Frankly speaking, these new sets do not have so much of a difference as compared to previous ones like the High Speed Passenger Train (60051) and the similarly named Cargo Train (60052) both from 2014. What makes it interesting though is the option of having it motorized using LEGO’s latest Power Functions 2.0. The selling point here is the new configuration and design of the controller that allows better, fine-tuned controls over the power functions.  Check out the images below.
