LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy Achieves 10K Support

Fans of the Indiana Jones films will probably love to see this become an official LEGO set. Following the success of the LEGO product idea Retro Bowling Alley, now comes another 10K achiever in the form of the  LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy by BenBuildsLego.

This LEGO product idea takes inspiration on the 40th anniversary of the Indiana Jones franchise, with all three films aptly represented through its different microscaled builds. It follows a design similar to what you can find in recent LEGO Architecture Skyline sets.

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

I’m not really sure if this LEGO product idea still falls within the allowable guidelines that the LEGO Ideas Review Team might consider since LEGO already released numerous Indiana Jones tie-in sets back in 2008 and 2009. We just have to wait and see once this year’s First LEGO Ideas Review Stage concludes. The LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy is joined by other qualifying sets including Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree LaneTesla CybertruckUntitled Goose GameUCS Chitty Chitty Bang BangThe Train Station: StudgateSpaceX Falcon 9Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini, and Retro Bowling Alley.

Here’s what BenBuildsLego has to say about his qualifying entry.

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

LEGO Ideas Indiana Jones Trilogy

“It’s not the years, honey. It’s the mileage.” – Dr. Henry Jones, Jr.
This microscale build is constructed in the style of the LEGO Architecture Skyline series and features the iconic locations where famous archeologist, Indiana Jones, recovered priceless historical artifacts:
  • The Temple of Doom (Sankara Stones) [1935, The Temple of Doom]
  • The Well of Souls (The Ark of the Covenant) [1936, Raiders of the Lost Ark]
  • Temple of the Sun (The Holy Grail) [1938, The Last Crusade]
Unlike the historical artifacts (which belong in a museum!), this set belongs on your desk!   This compact 650-piece set (9.4″ L x 3.2″ W x 3.7″ H) makes for the perfect display piece for every fan of Indiana Jones.  The set is also paired with a stand that includes three desirable minifigures from popular films:
  • Indiana Jones
  • Marion Ravenwood
  • Dr. Henry Walton Jones, Sr.
The backside of the set also includes additional references to the films with a microscale mine car chase and the interior of the Grail Temple.  Lego fans young and old will delight in creating these iconic locations and discovering their hidden secrets.

If you love Indiana Jones and LEGO, I would be forever thankful for your support!

LEGO Ideas Retro Bowling Alley Gets 10K Support

Following the success of the Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini earlier this month, we now have our next 2020 LEGO Ideas First Review Stage qualifier. The Retro Bowling Alley by Astronaut Avila managed to get 10,000 fan support over at the LEGO Ideas platform, effectively taking a step closer to becoming an official LEGO set.

If you recall, fan builder Astronaut Avila is also the person behind another 10K achieving project which is the Modular Arcade during the LEGO Ideas 2018 First Review Stage. Though this retro-styled gaming hub did not manage to best the rest of the entries dominated by now official LEGO Ideas sets The Flintstones (21316) and Tree House (21318), I am hopeful that this next entry will eventually get the thumbs-up approval of the LEGO Ideas Design Team.

Here’s a quick rundown of what to expect from this LEGO Ideas project.

LEGO Ideas Retro Bowling Alley

Following the theme of 10260 Downtown Diner, I present the Retro Bowling Alley. Features include:

  • Classic street sign
  • Large bowling pin pillars
  • Fully detailed kitchen with milkshake machine
  • Several printed tiles including a classic score sheet
  • 2 Exclusive bowling outfit torsos
  • Gold, silver, and bronze bowling ball trophy shelf
  • Gumball machine
  • And more!

Retro Bowling Alley

The LEGO Ideas Retro Bowling Alley joins the roster of other LEGO product ideas that qualified for the 2020 LEGO Ideas First Review Stage including Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree Lane, Tesla Cybertruck, Untitled Goose Game, UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, The Train Station: Studgate, SpaceX Falcon 9, Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini.

What do you think of Astronaut Avila’s product idea? Do you think the Retro Bowling Alley has a good chance of becoming an official LEGO Ideas set? Let me know your thoughts in the comments below.

LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage Results Are In: Two New Sets Coming

The LEGO Ideas Review Team has turned in the results of their LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage, and it seems that we are not getting just one but two new LEGO Ideas sets in the near future. Check out the announcement made by LEGO Ideas Engagement Manager, Hasan Jensen, and LEGO Ideas Design Manager, Samuel Johnson via Facebook live at 4PM CET.

Though I was a bit far-off from my predictions of what these next LEGO Ideas sets will be, I’m glad to see that the Medieval Blacksmith product idea by LEGO fan designer Clemens Fiedler (aka Namirob) was eventually chosen to become an official LEGO set. I like the direction where LEGO seems to be going with their selections within the LEGO Ideas platform. Though it may not be a medieval castle in itself, the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith set is a shout out to LEGO’s classic Castle theme that many adult fans are longing to be revived. And with the upcoming LEGO Ideas The Pirate Bay now in the works, we can see how these sets can evoke a certain feeling of nostalgia among AFOLs. Plus, the design on this set clearly demonstrates the superb building skill of its fan designer – the building style (the roof and chimney are absolutely gorgeous), choice of colors, landscape, and interior details all combine to bring out one display-worthy set.

LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage

This one caught me by surprise, though it was in a way expected given the longstanding partnership between LEGO and Disney. Winnie the Pooh by Ben Alder (aka benlouisa) is the next upcoming LEGO Ideas set that we can expect sometime next year.  A.A. Milne’s classic children’s story, now immortalized by Disney, is finally getting an official LEGO set complete with all the characters that we learned to love since our childhood days. The set includes the 100 Acre Wood, the place that served as a home for Winnie the Pooh together with his friends, Piglet, Tigger, Rabbit, Eeyore, and the ‘wise’ Owl. What makes the LEGO Ideas Winnie the Pooh set exciting is the possibility of having new minifigure characters, molds and pieces that will render them as close to how they look like in the Disney animated film.

LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage

Unfortunately, the LEGO Ideas Review Team ultimately decided to forego Stephanix’s Anatomini project. The reasons were not specifically stated, except for the fact that it may not have met LEGO’s standards with regards to “playability, safety and fit with the LEGO brand”.

lego ideas not approved

With the announcement of the LEGO Ideas 2019 Second Review Stage results now out of the way, we can now expect the Third Review Stage to wrap up in summer as well. These twelve product ideas manage to gather the needed 10,000 fan support or votes from September 2019 to January of this year. It’s exciting to see what the outcome will be on this one, especially considering the licensing issues that the review team needs to hurdle for some of these projects.

And with the approval of the LEGO Ideas Medieval Blacksmith and LEGO Ideas Winnie the Pooh, we can now expect five LEGO Ideas sets to appear in store shelves very soon including my personal favorite the LEGO Ideas Sesame Street, the LEGO Ideas The Pirate Bay, and the LEGO Ideas Playable Piano.

Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Results to be Announced On Wednesday

The LEGO Ideas Team is leveling up the excitement for the Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage. As announced over at their blogsite, the final results for this particular review stage will come this week, specifically tomorrow Wednesday.

This announcement of the next official LEGO Ideas set will be made via a livestream event over at the LEGO Ideas Facebook page on February 12, 2020 4PM (CET). There’s a total of 10 qualifying product ideas ranging from highly popular NASA-inspired sets to entries based on licensed themes. If you recall, the following are the qualifying product ideas that made it to the Second 2019 LEGO Ideas Review Stage.

Additionally, results will also be shared for Stephanix’s Anatomini product idea which was carried over from the previous review stage. Admittedly, the LEGO Ideas Review Team was on a bit of a tight spot since this proposed set requires more time to evaluate perhaps due to the many intricacies and details in this build.

2019 LEGO Ideas Review

To further engage the LEGO fan community, the LEGO Ideas Review Team is also hosting a giveaway where LEGO fans can have the chance to win a signed, LEGO Ideas Dinosaur Fossils (21320) by fan designer Jonathan Brunn. Joining is easy – simply comment on LEGO Ideas’ official social media channels (on this blogsite, on Facebook & Twitter) and make your best guess on what will be our next official LEGO Ideas set based on these qualifying entries. One random comment from each of these platforms will be selected. This particular comment must be able to correctly guess or comes close to the final result in order to bag the prize. Posting of comments will end once the Facebook livestream begins during the abovementioned time.

Given the current trend on NASA and space-themed sets, my best guess is that either the UCS Space Shuttle Atlantis or the NASA Spacecraft makes will emerge as the overall winner. How about you, what do you think will be our next LEGO Ideas set? Don’t forget to submit your comments over at LEGO Ideas, and care to share them as well in the comments section below.

LEGO Ideas Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini Qualifies for the 2020 First Review Stage

Here’s another space-themed LEGO set to add to your collection if perchance it gets approved. Following the success of the SpaceX Falcon 9, we now have the Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini as the next LEGO Ideas product idea to hit the 10K fan support mark. Designed by LEGO fan Stevenhoward27, this qualifying entry pays tribute to NASA’s initial efforts of bringing astronauts into space, supporting the Apollo mission of preparing and enabling our first baby steps on the moon.

Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini

Similar to the official LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309), the Project Gemini follows a modular representation of the transport’s re-entry module, a retrograde section, and an adapter equipment section. It also features two astronaut minifigures and a stand for display purposes. I like the inclusion of the official NASA Project Gemini logo at the base of the stand which gives it a premium, collectible feel.

If you recall, Steven is no stranger on space-inspired builds over on LEGO Ideas. He is credited for other winning entries in the platform such as the Starship Jordan Miller from the LEGO Ideas Moon to Mars Building Contest, and the Mammoth Rocket Ride from the LEGO Ideas Transform Your LEGO Bricks Into Wacky Bedrock Inventions Contest, where he bagged the Grand Prize.

The LEGO Ideas Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini is the 7th product idea to qualify for the First 2020 Review Stage which will commence sometime in May of this year. Here’s how Stevenhoward27 describes his fan submission.

Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini

We would not have gone to the moon if it weren’t for Project Gemini.  Mercury was the first stepping stone and Apollo is what got us there, but Gemini was essential for learning on-orbit rendezvous, the first spacewalks, and other important experiments and tests before traveling to the moon.

Here is my build depicting Project Gemini at mini-fig scale!  It includes a display stand with the Project Gemini patch, the reentry module with detachable rendezvous and recovery section and opening hatches, the adapter/retrograde section, and the adapter equipment section.  There are two astronaut mini-figs with one that can be displayed on a space-walk as Ed White did on Gemini 4 with a Hand-Held Maneuvering Unit.  There are 881 pieces that make up this set.

The Mini-fig Scale Project Gemini would be a great addition to the existing LEGO Nasa models and a good model for any space enthusiast.

Congratulations to Steven for a job well done and we wish him all the best during this year’s first LEGO Ideas Review Stage.

SpaceX Falcon 9 Qualifies for the First 2020 LEGO Review Stage

LEGO fans have shown their support once again to LEGO’s space-themed sets with this recently qualified LEGO Ideas product idea. The SpaceX Falcon 9 by Lego_Aviator is now the sixth product idea to make it to the First 2020 LEGO Ideas Review Stage.

The LEGO Ideas SpaceX Falcon 9 was inspired by the two-stage transport rocket developed Elon Musk’s Space X program. Proportionally scaled to that of the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309), this latest entry to the 10K club features a kind of modular design with its detachable Satellite and Dragon spacecraft. Here’s a closer look at the details of this LEGO product idea straight from its fan designer.

SpaceX Falcon 9 (Saturn V Scale)

Ready to grace your collections on the same scale as the recently released Saturn V set (1:110) is the SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket! Falcon 9 is a two-stage rocket designed and manufactured by Elon Musk’s SpaceX for the reliable and safe transport of satellites and the Dragon spacecraft into orbit. Falcon 9 is the first orbital-class rocket capable of re-flight and is a historic new step in humanity’s quest to explore the solar system! Re-create your own missions with this feature-rich recreation.

Features include:

  • Full-stack rocket, including detailed feed lines, landing legs, and grid fins.
  • Separable second stage with removable two-piece payload fairing.
  • Deployable grid fins and landing legs with removable support struts so you can display your model ready for liftoff or recently returned for re-use!
  • No hidden support base. The landed setup supports its own weight!

Coming Soon:

  • Various satellite payloads, pick your favorite mission!
  • Dragon spacecraft. (Almost complete, waiting on some parts)
  • Satellite and Dragon display stands.
  • Dragon 2 spacecraft planned.
  • Buy 3 and build a Falcon Heavy version. (Digital version in progress)

No Lego rocket collection is complete without the latest in cutting edge rocket development!

Space X Falcon 9
A side-by-side comparison of Space X Falcon 9 product idea to that of the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309).

The SpaceX Falcon 9 product idea follows other LEGO Ideas qualifiers for the 2020 First Review Stage such as the Mary Poppins Cherry  Tree Lane, the Tesla CybertruckUntitled Goose Game, UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang, and The Train Station: Studgate.

What do you think about this LEGO Ideas product idea? Will it win the thumbs-up approval of the reviewers? Share your thoughts in the comments below.

LEGO Ideas The Train Station: Studgate Gets 10K Support

Another LEGO Ideas product idea qualifies for the First 2020 Review Stage. Following the initial success of Mary Poppins Cherry  Tree Lane, the Tesla Cybertruck, Untitled Goose Game, and the UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang,  we now have the Train Station: Studgate by Bricky_Brick as the next 10K qualifier for this review stage.

lego ideas studgate

If you recall Bricky_Brick (or Pablo Jimenez in real life) is the creative genius behind the previously approved and upcoming LEGO Ideas Pirate Bay back in September from last year. He is also the creator of the LEGO Ideas History Museum which is now currently in review during the Second 2019 LEGO Review Stage. The results of this review stage are expected to come in by next week.

Pablo, as prolific builder and contributor over at the LEGO Ideas platform, has once again entered the elite circle of 10K qualifiers for the third time, getting the support of more than 10,000 members of the LEGO fan community for his Train Station: Studgate. Here’s how Pablo describes his next creation.

The Train Station: Studgate

Hello traveler, welcome to Studgate, the main station of the city and with the largest number of visitors, thousands of minifigures pass through this station every day.

Seventeenth-century concept station with new modern acquisitions, large glazing to gain more light and computer systems for ticket access.

The station has three heights, at its base an access for the first floor or terrace and the entrance with access for disabled people that leads to the platform. Once there, the platform allows access through the footbridge. For disabled people, there is a gangway system coordinated with trains to access the other side of the platform.

The glass dome (piece 2409) and the large glazed surfaces (piece 2408) are a tribute to the large space sets of the late 80s and early 90s, in this case, I have taken the liberty of making it transparent without dyes.

I also make a small tribute with the permission of the creators to a set that I have a lot of love (6601-1) Ice Cream Cart.

With some hesitation, I decided to include the train to give more gameplay and I think it’s a good option, with the train the project is at the limit of the number of pieces allowed but acquires greater value and logic for a train station.

It is a modern electric style train, with ease to adapt an engine, ease to include the wheelchair and several minifigures thanks to the folding roof.

They are 7 characters that accompany us.

1. Stationmaster:
2. Train driver
3. Girl in a wheelchair
4. Mother of the girl in the wheelchair
5. Staff on the ice cream stall
6. Carefree traveler
7. Business traveler

I can only say that I hope you like it, and if so, do not hesitate to vote for it. It will be an honor to see you pass through the station. Thank you very much for your support and confidence

Congratulations to Pablo and here’s to more exemplary builds to come!

LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship Arriving Soon

A few weeks ago, LEGO Ideas launched a voting campaign to hear what LEGO Star Wars fans have to say about what they want to see as the next Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) set. There were three choices to consider and now that the votes are finally in, it looks like we will be getting a LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship anytime soon.

UCS Republic Gunship

The announcement was made over at the LEGO Ideas blogsite, where the iconic transport from the Star Wars prequels (Attack of the Clones) emerged as the top choice of more than half of those who voted. Following the Republic Gunship is the Nebulon B Escort Frigate, and the TIE Bomber.

Truth be told, I was expecting the Nebulon B to come up on top since this is a UCS set intended to be displayed with all its intricate details. Furthermore, we haven’t seen this frigate before in LEGO form so it will be nice to have a unique LEGO Star Wars set that wasn’t rehashed before. Nevertheless, since more than half of the votes were in favor of the Republic Gunship, then I guess that proves it to be more popular and appealing.

UCS Republic Gunship
The LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship (75021) from 2013 is currently the largest LEGO tie-in version of this ship with over 1,100 pieces. A UCS version is expected to be significantly larger.

Obviously there are no details yet on when this LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship will be arriving. My best guess is that we’re looking at either a January or May 2021 release date for that matter. As an extra surprise, those who participated in the voting process also has the chance of winning a free UCS Republic Gunship once it is released, together with a LEGO Star Wars Yoda (75255) set. Three winners will be randomly selected and will be contacted via email.

So what do you think of the upcoming LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship? Will you be looking forward to this? Let me know what you think in the comments below.

LEGO Ideas UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang Gets 10K Fan Support

The next qualifying LEGO product idea to make it to this year’s first Review Stage after gathering 10K fan support is the LEGO Ideas UCS  Chitty Chitty Bang Bang by Norders.

Based on the 1968 musical adventure fantasy film of the same title, the UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang recreates the iconic car with all its hidden (but useful) features and multi-purpose functionalities. Fans of this classic film will easily recognize the folding wings and the picnic basket at the back. The set is expected to have more or less 2,000 LEGO pieces with two minifigures: Caractacus Potts and Truly Scrumptious.

Here’s what Norders have to say about this fan-submitted LEGO set.

UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

The model has undergone some significant improvements, one of which is a hinged bonnet that folds up to reveal a huge old 4-cylinder engine! The parts count has also been reduced by a few hundred pieces, and the metal-work has had a bit of a polish.

LEGO Ideas UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang

Chitty is a UCS-style model comprising just over 2,000 pieces. And just as before, she comes complete with folding wings and picnic basket and offers a wide variety of building techniques and loads of playability.

Features include:

  • More detail than before!
  • Fold-out wings concealed inside the car’s body
  • Hinged bonnet
  • Big old engine under the bonnet
  • Detachable front and rear sails
  • Working steering
  • Removable picnic basket, complete with rug and picnic items
  • Comfortable leather seats!
  • Minifig models of Caractacus Potts and Truly Scrumptious on an informational fact plaque

The LEGO Ideas UCS  Chitty Chitty Bang Bang qualifies for the First 2020 Review Stage and is joined by other product ideas such as Mary Poppins Cherry Lane, Tesla Cybertruck, and Untitled Goose Game.
