Earlier last month, we revisited the LEGO Ideas platform as it nears the end of its most current project submission stage. And this time around the review team made its announcement, officially closing the submission stage and opening the way for its Third 2022 LEGO Ideas Review Stage.
We featured 33 product ideas last month that managed to gather the needed 10,000 fan votes to take the step towards becoming an official LEGO Ideas set. And this time around, 3 additional projects were added to the roster giving us a total of 35 product ideas officially entering the said review stage.
Unfortunately, the Neverending Story (40th Anniversary) product idea was eventually removed from the list of qualifiers due to a copyright takedown request from the iconic film’s license holder. This gives us a total of 35 qualifiers instead of 36 making the final roster.
The product idea Neverending Story (40th Anniversary) was eventually removed from the list of qualifiers for the Third 2022 LEGO Ideas Review Stage due to a copyright takedown request. As of this posting, the link for its respective LEGO Ideas product idea page was eventually removed.
The Second 2022 LEGO Ideas Review Stage is also about to wrap up, with an outstanding total of 51 product ideas anxiously waiting for the seal of approval of the LEGO Ideas Review Team. The announcement of the approved sets is expected to happen anytime soon this month or within this quarter, so will keep a close eye on this one.
Just a couple of days ago, several LEGO Technic March 2023 sets were unveiled via the LEGO Kidz Zone app. And as expected, these sets are now up and listed at LEGO’s online shopping portal with more details, better images, and a March release date instead of April.
Initially, four sets were revealed. But for now, LEGO shows off three of these, with the Firefighter Aircraft (42152) set still waiting to have its official product listing. Among these sets, I have to say that the Batcycle is a must-have for me. Not only does it capture the feel of its cinematic replica from last year’s DC film, but its stunning all-black color motif is also something to be desired.
Check out the rest of this wave’s official images below and let me in the comments what your thoughts are about this selection of new LEGO Technic sets.

In case you missed it, LEGO is running a promotional campaign to jumpstart the year. We learned that a familiar and highly popular LEGO Space subtheme is returning in 2023. And thankfully, we now know the details of how we can bring home the LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser (40580).
LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser (40580) – A Returning Classic
Starting this week and until January 14, we can have this improved and re-released version of a 1987 classic added to our LEGO shopping carts for a single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $190 or more.
Relaunch a 1980s space classic
Rediscover a classic LEGO® set from the 1980s with the LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser. A highly detailed redesign of the original 6894 set, it’s guaranteed to provide hours of enjoyment recreating a childhood memory for LEGO® fans. Receive this gift with LEGO® purchases over $190, valid 1/1/23-1/14/23 while supplies last.
Coming in at 356 pieces including a much-desired Blacktron Rogue minifigure, this is a gift-with-purchase set that is hard to give a pass. Its modular design is a great throwback to its original play features, plus the several new pieces and re-design give it a particular touch meant for an adult LEGO fan base who fondly remembers their original Blacktron sets.
Though the $190 promotional threshold may feel a bit steep on the wallet, there are plenty of excellent LEGO 2023 sets that you may want to consider investing in within this price range. For $190 you may consider having a couple or more of those newer LEGO City Stuntz sets, or some mech-inspired LEGO Monkie Kid sets such as the Monkey King Ultra Mech (80045) and Yellow Tusk Elephant (80043). And with almost 200 new LEGO 2023 sets now listed and available at LEGO.com, there’s something that will strike our fancy.
As of this posting the LEGO Icons Blacktron Cruiser still appears in my cart upon checkout over at LEGO.com, but bear in mind that this promotional set is only up until January 14 or while supplies last. This is also available at all LEGO stores until such time so you may want to check with your local LEGO store as well.
The first wave of LEGO Technic 2023 sets are now available at LEGO.com. And for fans of the highly celebrated theme, you will be glad to know that more exciting sets are arriving in April.
Thanks to a tip from The Brick Fan, we learned that the LEGO Kidz Zone and Builder app has been updated, giving us a glimpse of what to expect from these second wave of LEGO Technic 2023 sets. They are not listed yet over at LEGO’s online shopping portal but since their respective data are already in LEGO’s online system, we can expect a global update anytime soon.
