Watch What Happens When Master Builders Adam and Tyler Battle It Out In Our Latest LEGO Building Challenge!

If you enjoyed seeing Jason and Stephen go head to head with their hilarious LEGO Jurassic World Build Battle, then you’ll certainly have a blast seeing our next build battle featuring two of the coolest master builders around. Tyler is, without a doubt, one of the most creative and ingenious LEGO builders that we have here at The Brick Show, and this time, we’ll see how he’ll fair in a friendly brick-building competition against Adam Ward from SoulPancake’s Brick X Brick.

For this time-limited build challenge reminiscent of the Builder’s Lounge Iron Builder (though in a less serious tone), Adam and Tyler will be using pieces coming from the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Mighty Dinosaurs (31058) set. The catch: they have to build a vehicle using this dino-themed LEGO set. What happens next is pretty funny. Watch this.

With building instructions flying in the air, the MOCs coming from the creative minds of these guys are simply awesome. I guess LEGO master builders are like minded in so many ways – with both Tyler and Adam coming up with a helicopter build as their creation of choice. Tyler creates a sort of a closer-to-life helicopter build with some play features added to its propeller, while Adam’s military-inspired build comes with a mean-looking tail propeller and armaments.

07 Tyler Adam 06 Tyler Adam

For the final challenge, both of them needs to create a micro build using the remaining pieces from the Mighty Dinosaurs set BUT using only one hand. Other than building their creations with a handicap, what is amazing is that for the second time around, both Adam and Tyler are in sync in thinking about creating a chair with their remaining LEGO pieces. Adam built a well-defined, three-legged chair while Tyler’s clever use of the set’s tentacle or ‘rib cage’ pieces rendered his version of a rocking chair quite daunting to build.

01 Tyler Adam Tyler Adam

In the end, it’s all about the fun in creating whatever comes to your mind and having a healthy dose of laughter at the same time. If you liked this LEGO building challenge from Tyler and Adam, be sure to check out the rest of their collaborative building ideas at SoulPancake where the two of them create the wackiest, brick-built critters and dinosaurs around using the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 sets Robo Explorer (31062) and Sunset Street Bike (31059) respectively.

Latest Images from Star Wars Episode VIII: The Last Jedi Released.

This piece of news is not entirely about LEGO, but knowing how the LEGO and Star Wars community are all set for the biggest movie of the year, then this is something that will definitely suit our fancy. Entertainment Weekly has just released a collection of new images from Star Wars: The Last Jedi that highlights some of the lead characters of the film, including a closer look at the latest Star Wars creatures to debut on the big screen once the movie lands in theaters on December 15.

These character images highlight Rey, Finn, Poe, Kylo Ren and some never-before-seen critters from the galaxy far away. Check these out.

Rey at the Jedi Temple Ruins In Star Wars 8

Rey is seen here probably at the start, or during her training at the Jedi temple ruins of planet Ahch-To, home to the self-exiled Jedi Master, Luke Skywalker. In case you missed it, Tyler created a LEGO Star Wars TLJ MOC that perfectly captures Rey’s training as Luke teaches her the ways of the Force.

Finn flying Resistance Ski Speeder in Star Wars 8

Finn is on board on a Resistance Ski Speeder on what seems to be the planet Crait. Based on The Last Jedi’s initial trailer, we saw several of these Speeders as they charge their way towards a confrontation with the First Order’s mammoth Heavy Assault Walkers. These Speeders (or Skimmers) were also perfectly recreated by Tyler which you can see here.

Poe Dameron in X wing In Star Wars 8

Poe is getting ready for another space dogfight as seen here in this image aboard his X-Wing fighter.

Adam Driver as Kylo Ren in Star Wars 8

Love him or hate him, Kylo Ren is definitely one of Star Wars most powerful characters – not just in terms of his affinity with the Dark Side of the Force, but also the despicable things that he has done. On a side note, it is interesting to see how this scarred image of Kylo Ren will render in LEGO minifigure form. We just have to wait and see until Force Friday arrives.

Supreme Leader Snoke Praetorian Guard

Star Wars never seem to run out of elite body guards and specialized warriors – and the film’s main antagonist, Supreme Leader Snoke, is not someone who will settle for anything less. We saw these guys already in their LEGO buildable character form (which we have to remove from the site eventually at the request of LEGO) and now we see them in their actual screen versions. Like any other elite units, these Praetorian Guards are tasked to protect Snoke at all means necessary, and the crimson red color just makes them more deadly serious about doing their task.

We also have a closer look at some other stills released by EW, which includes Kylo Ren’s TIE Striker, the plush, intergalactic casino at Canto Blight, and some particularly interesting critters – the Porg and the amphibious-looking Caretakers. It will be interesting to see if ever LEGO has them on the works as an actual set or as a part of its minifigure series.

Very First LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi Polybag – First Order Heavy Assault Walker 30497 – Spotted at a Local Retailer.

We’re still a few weeks away from Force Friday’s Star Wars’ bazaar, but it seems some local retailers are trickling away some LEGO Star Wars goodies.  A couple of days ago, we also reported how some online retailers managed to pull the veil off from the latest line of LEGO Star Wars The Last Jedi sets, only to have TLG put it back again. This time around, another retailer decides to just throw things up in the air, and to put on display our very first LEGO Star Wars TLJ polybag set.

Brickset shares several images of what seems to be a miniaturized version of one of the LEGO Star Wars First Order Heavy Assault Walker (30497) polybag, reportedly found on display and for sale at a local Wal-Mart store in Ontario, Canada.  The polybag set comes in 54 pieces and was put on sale for $4.86. The funny thing is that its official store tag reads “Confidential SW Movie”, so I guess whoever puts them there on display at the store rack doesn’t really bother about such things.

Elsewhere, there have also been reports of several Star Wars toys and merchandise that have been displayed in some local US stores. If you look hard enough, perhaps you may manage to find some of these LEGO Star Wars TLJ boxed sets any time soon, especially considering that we’re now roughly three weeks away  before Force Friday officially kicks in. On a personal note, I appreciate the polybag trend, especially the ones that our mini replicas of the larger sets, such as those from The LEGO Ninjago Movie polybag line. Keep an eye out on these little goodies and please do let us know if you spot one at your local retailer. Thanks once again to Brickset for sharing these images.

Blocks Magazine Joins the Star Wars 40th Anniversary Celebration with a LEGO Building Contest.

Last year, LEGO Star Wars fans were treated to a free and very rare freebie as part of May 2016’s May the 4th exclusive promos. With only 3,500 sets in circulation, the LEGO Star Wars Escape the Space Slug set were given away for free for every qualifying purchase of any LEGO Star Wars merchandise worth $150 and above. To make it even more challenging, the chance to own this set comes by invitation only via email, with only around 25 invitations released for each 120 LEGO brand stores worldwide during that time.

blocksmagazine starwarsat40prize

If you’re a LEGO Star Wars connoisseur and you’ve missed out on having this very rare set, it might interest you to know that Blocks Magazine is a running contest that might give you a better chance of having this set for free by entering a MOC building contest. In celebration of Star Wars 40th anniversary, Blocks Magazine will be running a building contest that highlights one of the most memorable scenes in the very first SW film, Episode I: A New Hope. Based on the epic confrontation between Han Solo and Greedo in Mos Eisley Cantina, participants are to create their very own brick-build rendition of this iconic scene, featuring the above mentioned characters. It might be a bit of a challenge if you’re looking forward to include Greedo in his minifigure form since he only appears in two LEGO Star Wars sets: 2004’s Mos Eisley Cantina (4501) and the larger remake from 2014, Mos Eisley Cantina (75052). But of course, this is LEGO, and you are highly encouraged to be creative in coming up with your very own interpretation of this scene.

Here’s Blocks Magazine full press release.

Blocks magazine offers amazing prizes in Star Wars at 40 build contest

It will probably not have escaped your attention that a little movie called Star Wars, released in 1977, celebrates its 40th anniversary in 2017. Blocks will be celebrating with a very special Star Wars issue later this year, and we want our readers to get involved.

We are holding a unique competition, with not one, but two amazing prizes on offer. The overall winning entry will have the one-of-a-kind opportunity to be part of Blocks’ Star Wars at 40 special feature – your entry could be included in a huge article that the team are putting together. Additionally, the winner and two runners-up will each receive the prize of a super rare, limited edition LEGO Star Wars set – Escape the Space Slug. It was only available as part of a select LEGO Store shopping opportunity last year.

To be in with a chance of being immortalised in the pages of Blocks and picking up a copy of an impossible-to-find LEGO Star Wars set, entrants need to build a specific scene from Star Wars: A New Hope, using LEGO. It can be built at any scale and be open to interpretation, but it also needs to represent Blocks’ chosen scene from the original film in a recognisable way – this is all about recreating the selected scene from the movie, using LEGO as your medium. The judging panel will be looking at how it represents the scene, not just the best MOC, so presentation and concept will be important alongside technical ability.

The scene from Star Wars: A New Hope that Blocks wants you to recreate in LEGO is ‘Han shot first’. It’s the moment when Han Solo encounters Greedo in the cantina at Mos Eisley, and events take a particular turn…

To enter, post an image of your build to Facebook (blocksmag), on Twitter @blocksmagazine or via e-mail it to graham@blocksmag.com. The deadline is midnight on September 1, 2017 (GMT). Your image must be at a resolution of 300dpi and fit the landscape dimensions of 330mm wide x 330mm tall.

Full terms and conditions can be found at www.blocksmag.com.  Keep your navicomputer targeting Blocks’ social media channels for build tips from our experts.

New The LEGO Ninjago Movie Character and Vehicles Posters Revealed!

We’re roughly a month away before The LEGO Ninjago Movie hits the big screen, and we can expect LEGO and Warner Bros. to throw in more promotional materials and swag down the road leading to the film’s debut on September 22. Following the first wave of character posters that show our heroes in tune to their elemental affinities, IGN has just shared several new character posters of our LEGO Ninjago heroes this time, alongside their signature vehicles. All of these vehicles have already been translated into their respective LEGO sets, though a bit scaled down as compared to their movie counterparts.

These posters include Lloyd and his Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612), together with the rest of the Ninjago team and their battle-ready vehicles: Kai with his Fire Mech (70615), Jay and his Lightning Jet (70614), Cole and his Quake Mech (which we’re hoping to have an official LEGO set later on), Zane’s Ice Tank (70616), Nya and her Water Strider (70611), and Master Wu together with the elegant Destiny’s Bounty (70618). The film’s antagonist also gets his own poster, with Garmadon standing proudly with his ominous Garma Mecha Man (70613). No word yet if these posters will actually have their physical counterparts (perhaps a LEGO Store promotional?), but if they do, these are pretty cool to collect. Check these out.

From the High Seas to the Vast Cosmos – The Next LEGO Ideas Sets Are…

It was a long road to travel, but the effort and patience are all worth it. In  a much welcomed (and long overdue) announcement, the LEGO Ideas Team, lead by Project Manager Sanne Dollerup, has finally revealed earlier today what most of us, including myself, has been waiting for since May of last year.

4633487 2868131 o 1b9329f171gbns1dhu1mr497ha REZ0sMdRKSqIug thumbnail full

The results of the LEGO Ideas Third 2016 Review Results have been finally turned in, with Ship in a Bottle, the Flagship Leviathan by JakeSadovich77 topping the rest of the Third 2016 LEGO Ideas Review Stage Qualifiers, and the much awaited (my goodness, I’m having goose bumps as I’m writing this) – drum roll please – Voltron Defender of the Universe by len_d69! Here’s the official announcement from LEGO Ideas.

Ship In A Bottle, The Flagship Leviathan.

4633435 Ship in a bottle The Flagship Leviathan

A big congratulations to JakeSadovich77 on becoming the next official LEGO Ideas fan designer!

As an avid LEGO builder, Jacob Sadovich was inspired to create his LEGO Ship in a Bottle, The Flagship Leviathan, following a real-life ship in a bottle that he had built just a few years ago. We’re really excited to be able to introduce Jacob’s Ship in a Bottle, The Flashship Leviathan set for its unique approach to what official LEGO sets can look like. If you’d like to learn more about Jacob then make sure to check out his 10K Club Interview.

Voltron – Defender of the Universe

4633439 Voltron Defender of the Univese

A big congratulations to len_d69 on becoming the next official LEGO Ideas fan designer!

Leandro’s passion for Voltron started at a very young age when his parents bought him a Voltron toy. From that moment on Leandro was hooked. Building with LEGO bricks allowed Leandro to celebrate his passion for Voltron – Defender of the Universe even more.  We’re really excited to be able to introduce Leandro’s Voltron – Defender of the Universe set. Leandro’s project sets itself apart for its creative way to build with LEGO bricks. If you’d like to learn more about Leandro then make sure to check out his 10K Club Interview.

I am very much interested to see how Lendy Tayag’s Voltron will turn out in its final LEGO Ideas version, and I’m just glad that any licensing issue with the creators of Voltron has been finally hurdled. As mentioned in the announcement, these next LEGO Ideas sets are slated to be available in 2018, most probably in June or September so there’s still time to save up for your LEGO Ideas wish list. I’m just a bit disappointed that The Iron Giant by BrettCuv didn’t make it past the Review Stage, but seeing that Voltron finally made it makes up for that.

The LEGO Ideas team is speeding things up, with another round of Review Results slated anytime during the fall of 2017. The First 2017 LEGO Ideas Review Qualifiers consists of eleven (11) fan projects that made it to the qualifying roster from January to May of this year.

How about you Brick Fan, are you excited for these next LEGO Ideas sets? Share us what you think in the comments below!

Here’s An Early Reveal – A Look at the LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving (40261) Set.

We’re still quite far away from Halloween, but several LEGO fans were given a head start on having this year’s next seasonal LEGO vignette. The LEGO Seasonal Halloween (40260) set is now available at various toy and hobby outlets, just like this one that was shared by Almir Sadovic via Brickfinder.

002 lego hallween

Now that the Halloween (40260) set is finally out, it means that we finally get to see what’s the next seasonal set slated to be released. It is customary for these sets to provide a glimpse at the end of the instruction booklet, of what’s next in this series of seasonal offerings. Well, as you may have guessed it, it is the LEGO Seasonal Thanksgiving (40261) set.

40261

As you can see, the Thanksgiving (40261) set contains 133 LEGO pieces, some of which can prove to be quite useful for MOCs and other creations. The tree in the background looks very much the same as that from the LEGO Romantic Valentine Picnic (40236) save from the leave’s different color scheme. It also consists of vegetable patch, a scarecrow, and cleverly built turkey. I particularly like the cart which can be used in many different ways.

There’s no official word yet on when this set will be released, though it will be safe to assume that this will be available worldwide beginning in October, alongside the LEGO Seasonal Halloween (40260) set

I just hope that we will not go through that same predicament most us experienced when during last year’s Force Friday, with the exclusive Darth Revan minifigure promotional attached to it, shop.LEGO.com listed that the sought after Darth Revan minifig already ran out of stock just 4 to 6 hours after Force Friday officially kicked in. We just have to wait and see.

TLNM offers an impressive range of promotional polybags, based mostly on its larger mech replicas such as the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612), Ice Tank (70616), and the rumored Quake Mech. I’m pretty sure that these polybags will be in demand in the aftermarket after their promotional period.

Other than the cool polybags, you also get to bring home a complimentary, The LEGO Ninjago Movie poster for purchase of any TLNM set, minifigure or accessory. This promo will run from September 4 to 30.

September 22 – October 8: FREE The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd Minifigure (30609) with purchase of $50 or more.

01 September Store Calendar front

Just in time for The LEGO Ninjago Movie’s big screen debut, we finally have information on how we can bring home one of Lloyd’s most impressive minifigure version. Found over at eBay a few days ago, we now know that the Lloyd Minifigure (30609) polybag will come as a free promotional during the said dates for any LEGO purchase of $50 and above.

If you can still hold on to that LEGO spending power, then now is probably time to do so. There’s a handful of pretty impressive sets that you may want to check out in September such as the colourfully detailed Ninjago City (70620) and the idyllic LEGO Ideas Old Fishing Store (21310). If you want to go massive, then be on the lookout on what LEGO has in store on September 14 and 15.

New The LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd Minifigure Polybag (30608) Found + Other Updates.

Much has been revealed about The LEGO Ninjago Movie during this year’s Comic-Con and just before we hit the theaters next month, it seems that LEGO still has some surprises tucked under its sleeve. Our friends over at Promobricks stumbled upon a find over at eBay and as it seems, we will not be getting one, but two minifigure polybag versions of the Green Ninja himself, Lloyd Garmadon. If you recall back in June, we first stumbled upon Lloyd’s promotional minifigure – the Kendo Lloyd (30608) polybag – as a promotional offering that comes with an unlock code to be used in the film’s accompanying video game.

As it turns out, Lloyd will probably have another minifigure promotional as images of this new polybag appears on eBay. Check out the images below.

30609 01 30609 02

One will notice right away that this polybag version of Lloyd sports a hood which is basically the same as that found in the film’s CMF tie-up, a tasseled sword similar to what he is wielding in the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) set, and a unique, never-before-seen torso print. The torso is quite different from Lloyd’s other minifigure iteration where he is seen wearing a sweater on top of his ninja garb. This is one minifigure that will surely be interesting to collect.

In related news, Warner Bros. Interactive has shared several exciting info regarding the film’s tie-up video of the same title. We now get to see some of the combat styles and slick moves that our Ninjago heroes have acquired. They’ve also released several in-game screenshots that highlights the game’s highly-detailed and immersive environment. With styles and techniques that takes its cue from nature, these abilities are also available to players during the game.

Lastly, as of this writing, we now have confirmation that the Kendo Lloyd (30608) polybag now comes as a GameStop pre-order exclusive while supplies last.

GameStop

We’re not sure if this polybag promotional is specific only to GameStop, and we hope that this will be made available to other retailers as well. The LEGO Ninjago Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie Video Game will both be released in the US on September 22.

Here’s What Lies Ahead for LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu TV Series.

This year’s San Diego Comic Con may long be over, but the waves of change as revealed during the SDCC panels and the excitement that it brings, is certainly felt by fans. Those who grew up with the LEGO Ninjago TV series know the feeling pretty well. Since its inception in 2011, LEGO Ninjago’s Masters of Spinjitzu has already gone through a lot of changes – a total of 7 seasons of it actually. These changes, according to writers Dan and Kevin Hageman while speaking during the LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu panel at Comic-Con, is not just the good kind, but a necessary one. As the younger fans of the LEGO original series grows up, it is also necessary that our Ninjago heroes face their own coming of age.

03 sons of garmadon

This is one of the themes that the upcoming season of LEGO Ninjago would like to get across to its viewers, as presented during their SDCC panel. To give a hint of things to come, Season 8’s first trailer was shown to the audience, and later on released online as you can see below. Admittedly, the series is still a work in progress, and that the audience should expect more visually appealing special effects and a more polished look at the show’s characters. Nevertheless, the trailer gives us a glimpse of Lloyd’s new look which now closely resembles that of how he is portrayed in The LEGO Ninjago Movie. It’s kind of interesting to see how these character developments will progress and transition from the TV series and to their upcoming cinematic versions.

As we can see from the trailer, our team of ninjas will eventually face another group of antagonists hot from the trail of the Vermillion. These ninja doppelgangers bear much in resemblance to our heroes in terms of costume, except for their stylized motorcycle helmets. In the trailer, we see the objective of these covert ninja ops – to steal a mysterious red, kabuki mask during the height of the local festivities.

04 sons of garmadon 01 sons of garmadonbanner sons of garmadon

We don’t get to see the entire Ninjago Team assembled in this trailer yet; however it seems that these very same events will serve as the catalyst for the team to be together once more. What we know so far is that this upcoming season of LEGO Ninjago will be entitled as Sons of Garmadon as revealed during the San Diego Comic-Con. Nothing much has been revealed about the new season’s plot and how it will take off, but showrunner Tommy Andreasen mentioned through his Twitter page that this latest season may open up a lot of questions with regards to what happened between the events of Hands of Time story arc with that of Sons of Garmadon. These questions according to Andreasen will eventually be answered during the episodes themselves.

There is no release date mentioned on when LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu will eventually air, except for the assurance that it is slated to launch next year. In the meantime, don’t forget to mark your calendars when The LEGO Ninjago Movie hits the big screen on September 22.
