New LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 SDCC Trailer Reveals Kang the Conqueror!

SDCC 2017 has been concluded, but the reveals that LEGO shared with fans and attendees still lingers on. I intend to do a recap any time soon about all the things related to LEGO during this year’s San Diego Comic Con, to somehow round-up all these things, and to make sense out of the information overload.

But before that, here’s another tidbit of info that Warner Bros. Interactive and TT Games have shared during Comic-Con. We already had a look at some of the new Marvel superheroes that will be added to the game’s roster of more than 200+ playable characters. This time, we now have our second official trailer of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 video game that puts the spotlight on the game’s main antagonist, Kang the Conqueror. We also get a closer look at the different Marvel worlds as Kang brings them all together in an epic collision of inter-dimensional proportions in the surreal world of Chronopolis.

If the first trailer of LMSH2 introduces us to some of the characters that will grace the long-awaited sequel, this follow-up shows us more about Kang and the time-warping, open-hub world of Chronopolis. In this uber extreme mashup of Marvel worlds, we get to see familiar places such as Ancient Egypt, New York City 2099, Wakanda, Xandar, Knowhere, and many other comic book locations.

Here’s the official press release of the latest LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 trailer released as a fitting conclusion for this year’s SDCC.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 Spotlights Kang the Conqueror in NEW SDCC Trailer

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today released a NEW trailer for LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes 2 featuring Kang the Conqueror, a time-travelling Super Villain who has stolen numerous cities from across time and space to form the expansive Open Hub World of Chronopolis. First revealed at Comic-Con International: San Diego, the video spotlights Kang in his ultimate quest to take over the universe, as well as the many Marvel locations that make up Chronopolis, including Ancient Egypt, New York City in 2099, Wakanda, Xandar and many other Marvel settings.

At Comic-Con, TT Games also revealed a brand new character created in tandem with Marvel Games, fusing together the ever popular Carnage and Venom to form a new Marvel Super Villain called Carnom, a character who has never existed in the Marvel Universe before and is completely unique to LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. Along with Carnom, TT Games announced a slew of other characters coming to the game, including Howard the Duck and his Iron Duck variant, who will be voiced by Kinda Funny’s Greg Miller, Gwenpool, the fan-favorite amalgam of Gwen Stacy and Deadpool, Vulture, from the “Spider-Man: Homecoming” film, Cosmo the Spacedog,Doctor OctopusForbush ManGreenskyn Smashtroll and Throg. These Super Heroes and Super Villains will join the recently revealed Medusa and Lockjaw of the Inhumans, all playable in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.

Good News! LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) Now Back at shop.LEGO.com!

A couple of weeks ago, we were caught in that existential fear (say what?) that every LEGO fan is most worried about – that anxiety of not being able to bring home or build that much desired LEGO Ideas set that were just recently released and has now quickly ran out of stock. Oh, the horror of it! I can pretty much relate to that, given of my own frustration of not being able to have my very own LEGO Ideas Wall-E (21303) set. So imagine how it feels if another chance to own a brilliant Ideas set will soon pass in an instant.

This is how most of us probably felt when news broke out of the largest LEGO Ideas set to date, the iconic NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309), quickly ran out of stock at shop.LEGO.com, with very few sets made available in local LEGO brand stores. The set was so popular that demand for it completely overwhelmed the supply.

21309 alt1

Though many AFOLs were quite disheartened when this immensely popular set quickly became unavailable, LEGO promised that stocks of the popular NASA set will be replenished soon. The good news is, this promise was eventually fulfilled now that shop.LEGO.com lists the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) available for purchase as of this writing.

21309 now available

If you’re holding on to that next LEGO purchase and has been waiting patiently for the return of this set, then now is the time to push that Add to Basket button before stocks ran out again.

Are you looking forward to having this set? Let us know in the comments below or join us in the discussions over at our Facebook page.

Davy Jones Will Not Shy Away From This Mini LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Flying Dutchman MOC.

Ahoy there matey! Tyler is back once again with another brick creation, and this time paying tribute one of the most famous ships ever to roam the seas of the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise. Unlike the Black Pearl, Queen Anne’s Revenge and the recent Silent Mary which received the official LEGO treatment by having their own LEGO sets dedicated to them, The Flying Dutchman is one of the well-known ships in the POTC series that didn’t make the cut of having its own LEGO set.

Thanks to another awesome MOC by Brick Show Master Builder, Tyler, we can now have the chance of building our very own Mini LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Flying Dutchman MOC. Following his previous Mini LEGO POTC Black Pearl MOC, Tyler now gives us Davy Jones’ famous ship in mini brick-built form.

the flying dutchman

This version of the Flying Dutchman comes with an old, sunken pirate ship look thanks to Tyler’s effective use of olive green and tan pieces. To give that old, sea-weary, barnacle infested look, Tyler added some 1×1 plates with a hole in the center at the sides of the ship. Since this is on a mini-scale, those pieces also act like cannons at the sides of the ship.

04 TFD

The original Flying Dutchman from the POTC movies seems to have an intimidating, gaping mouth on its bow. Using droid arms to recreate that spiky, gnarly effect, Tyler impressively recreates that effect just by using two droid arms and a hinged single 1×2 plate.  For its stern, Tyler used some grilled slope pieces to create that window-like part of the ship.

05 TFD03 TFD

However, the best part of this build is Tyler’s clever use of the curved slopes and car fender pieces to create the sails of the Flying Dutchman. If you recall, he also uses the same technique for his Mini Black Pearl MOC a few weeks back. The choice of olive green for the sails is really spot on, which mimics that ominous, sea-born feel of the original ship.

02 TFD

Of course, our Mini Flying Dutchman MOC will not be complete without our minifig version of the infamous captain, Davy Jones. This minifigure rendition of the tentacled captain only appears in LEGO Pirates of the Caribbean The Black Pearl (4184) so obtaining him is a bit of a challenge. However, if you want to stay true to the film, we can also swap Will Turner’s minifig since we have thrice the number of chances to obtain him in LEGO form, not just in The Black Pearl (4184), but also in The Cannibal Escape (4182) and The Mill (4183). If you remember from Pirates of the Caribbean At World’s End, Turner eventually became the new captain of The Flying Dutchman and went to become the sea’s next psychopomp (someone who offers safe passage to the souls of the dead, going to the afterlife).

01 TFD

If you like this latest build from Tyler as much as we do, the good news is that you can now have the chance of building one of your own. Simply head over to BuildBetterBricks and give it try. You can find the instructions to recreate the Flying Dutchman in its mini-form, with only 69 pieces of LEGO bricks that you may have lying around your house. Once purchased from the site, you will immediately have access to its full building instructions in digital PDF format. It also includes a parts list and a Stud.io file so you can effectively export the parts list to Bricklink in case you need to order some missing pieces. Here’s Tyler himself as he tells us more about his latest creation.

If you like the Mini LEGO POTC The Flying Dutchman MOC, be sure to check out the rest of Tyler’s Pirates of the Caribbean creations such as the mini POTC  Black Pearl and the fun, custom POTC Bank Heist with removable vault. Happy building!

More Images of 2018’s First Wave of LEGO DC Comics Superheroes Released!

The LEGO Booth at SDCC is brimming with tons of reveals of upcoming sets. From new, LEGO Ninjago Movie, to LEGO Superheroes sets, each theme offers tons of new sets to include in your annual must-have checklist of most wanted LEGO sets. Now that the latest official trailer of DCEU’s Justice League has been announced at Comic-Con, the buzz and excitement for this upcoming film and other associated LEGO sets are definitely up to a higher notch. In case you missed it, here’s the 2nd official trailer for Justice League.

MCU is not far behind, with the similar announcement of their latest Thor: Ragnarok trailer. We see a better look at how Thor teams up with Bruce Banner, Loki and Valkryie as they figure a way on how to stop the goddess Hela from destroying Asgard and the rest of the realms.

This is a great year to become a superhero geek, with these films lined up for showing in theaters in November and October. Likewise, fans can expect a lot from LEGO as they have already introduced the first wave of Superheroes sets that will debut in January of 2018. From New York to Paradise – Blocks Magazine Issue #34 Now Available!

I have to admit, hearing all these news from San Diego Comic Con is exhilarating. Now that we’re almost at the end of this annual comic book fandom celebration, let’s take a break and check out the latest issue of Blocks Magazine out now. Let’s take a look.

Issue34 Issue34alt

Blocks magazine visits the beach with LEGO Friends and New York with Spider-Man in Issue 34

Get in the spirit of summer with the latest issue of Blocks magazine, with an idyllic beach build that captures the essence of three different LEGO themes.

The first taste of summer comes with a nostalgia-induced trip back to the 1990s, looking at the classic Paradisa sets to reminisce about the LEGO Group’s early seaside dream locale. Things then come back to the present, as LEGO Friends designers explain how the modern theme took shape after years of early development to become one of the company’s greatest successes.

Friends 3 Friends 4 Friends Friends 2

Blocks’ Build section takes inspiration from both Friends and Paradisa to create a bustling beach scene worthy of the front cover, replicating the unique design styles used in each theme. But summer isn’t just about lying on the beach – it’s also about blockbuster movies. A mammoth New York street scene that is packed full of incredible detail plays host to Spider-Man. It’s on a scale so impressive that it features on this month’s alternate cover (just flip your copy over).

Spiderman 2 Spiderman 3 Spiderman 4 Spiderman

No LEGO fan has seen it all until they check out this month’s dive into hidden LEGO gems, full of unique parts that never made it into regular production. Thankfully, the Mod Squad solution to upgrading Wonder Woman villain Ares uses regular, readily available LEGO pieces.

War Planes War Planes 2 War Planes 3 War Planes 4

As always, Month in LEGO takes a look at all of the LEGO stories you may have missed with an extra level on insight and expert opinion, Technique offers new tips on really making the most of those Flower Stems and Anatomy looks at the various historic aircraft that have joined the LEGO hangar over the years.

New Characters To Watch Out For in LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2!

Day 3 of this year’s San Diego Comic Con was a show-stopper for LEGO and Marvel fans. During the LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2: Meet the Talent Behind the Video Game panel, the powerhouse team of Arthur Parsons (Head of Design for  TT Games), Bill Rosemann (Executive Creative Director of Marvel Games), Justin Ramsden (LEGO Designer), Kurt Busiek (Comic Book Writer for Avengers Forever), and Dan Veesenmeyer (Comic Content Artist, and artist for LEGO Marvel’s Avengers) were all present to give SDCC attendees a glimpse on the additional characters that will grace the sequel to the highly popular video game, plus tons of other interesting info about the game.

According to The Brick Fan, an exclusive, never-before-seen LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 trailer was shown during the panel, and several new characters and vehicles from the Marvel comic books were introduced. Some of these new characters were the Vulture from Spider-Man: Homecoming, Doctor Octopus, Cosmo, Greenskyn Smashtroll, Throg, and Forbush Man. Also presented to the audience were previously revealed characters of Howard the Duck, Iron Duck and Gwenpool.

Vulture Doc Ock Cosmo Greenskyn Throg Forbush Man Gwenpool

As it seems, our LEGO superheroes will also be capable of using their signature vehicles as seen in the comics and on the big screen. Examples of these are the Black Panther Jet, Crossbones’ Truck, and Star Lord’s Mini Ravage Jet.

BP Jet CB Truck MiniRavager

What is also interesting is the fact that players can use several versions of the same comic book character during game play. For example, you can play as Spider-Man in his Homemade Suit version as seen in Spider-Man: Homecoming, while your friend plays as Spiderman Noir or Spiderman 2099. The legendary Stan Lee will also make a comeback in LMSH2, where you will have a chance to save him and, if you are successful in your mission, be rewarded along the way. The possibilities are endless, especially if you have more than 200 playable Marvel characters at your disposal. These 200+ characters are all available to players as they progress through the game, regardless of what type of console you are using. As such, WB Games and TT Games have no plans of offering any console-specific character packs which is fair for all gamers and fans of the franchise.

During the panel discussions and Q&A, Parsons also hinted at the possibility of Moon Knight making his way to LMSH2 as a playable character, and the inclusion of Mysterio going head-on against the Sinister Six. There was also some hints about the in-game mechanics (96 in all) and several abilities of some of the game’s characters. One example is Kamala Khan’s ability of shrinking down to size, and pass through different mazes.

Finally, Arthur Parsons also mentioned that a new LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 trailer will be aired likely on Monday. He reiterated this announcement via his official Twitter account.

In closing, attendees were treated with ticketed parting gifts of the foil comic print of Kang Dynasty, and the LEGO Marvel Superheroes The Avengers Quinjet (30304) polybag which was quite rare when it was introduced in 2015. An in-game, LEGOlized digital version of the Kang Dynasty comic book cover, and other similar classic covers will all be available in LMSH2 via collectable minikits.

Kang 30304 1

We’ll keep an eye on the latest trailer of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 when it hits the web on Monday. In the meantime, you may now pre-order your copy of this highly anticipated LEGO video game via Amazon. A Deluxe Edition is also available that comes with a Season Pass, the Classic GOTG Character Pack, and an exclusive Giant-Man minifigure. The game is expected to be released to the general public on November 14.

Thanks again to The Brick Fan for giving us an inside look on the happenings during this year’s SDCC.

More LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 Video Game Reveals @SDCC 2017!

More news from the San Diego Comic Con 2017! One of the panels (Marvel Games) that launched earlier today highlights the exciting game sequel, LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2. With the promise of a bigger roster of playable Marvel superheroes rendered in their LEGO minifigure form, the video game sequel features an entirely different take on the Marvel universe where our favorite superheroes are pressed for time to foil the plans of the nefarious super villain, Kang the Conqueror.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2

After the reveal of Medusa and Homemade Suit Spider-Man a few days ago at E3 and Disney 23 respectively, we now have confirmation that 3 playable Marvel comic book characters will be available as part of LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2’s ever-growing list of LEGO superhero characters.

We have a powerful fusion between two of the most abominable creatures in the Marvel universe: Carnage and Venom. Known as Carnom, the bigfig character is a mashup of these two unholy creatures and is slated to spring into action together with Spider-Man and Spider-Gwen.

Carnom

Next, we have the return of our action-packed, comedic feathered friend, Howard the Duck. Other than an exclusive SDCC minifigure dedicated in the character of Deadpool Duck, Howard the Duck will also be a huge character in the digital realm where he is expected to play a big role in the game’s storyline. It was also revealed that he can also transform into Iron Duck – I just don’t know exactly how Tony Stark ended up making a suit for him.

Howard the Duck Iron Duck

It was also mentioned that Goblin 2099 will also be a playable character in LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2, so it will be kind of interesting to see how this will play out.

Goblin Earth 928 Spider Man 2099 Vol 1 39 001

An all-new trailer is expected to be shown on Friday, so we’ll be on a look-out for more LEGO Marvel characters that might be revealed. LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2 is now available for pre-order, with a Deluxe Edition that comes with a Season Pass, the Classic GOTG Character Pack, and an exclusive Giant-Man minifigure. The game is expected to be released to the general public on November 14.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Gets a New Poster Just In Time for SDCC.

Just in time before the LEGO Ninjago Movie Panel kicks off this Thursday evening at San Diego Comic Con 2017, we now get to see its latest SDCC exclusive poster courtesy of RealBrickPal. It was announced before that several goodies will be given away to all attendees later on during the launch of The LEGO Ninjago Movie panel, so we hope that this cool poster will be included in the loot bag as well.

The poster features the overall, central theme of the film where Lloyd finds himself coming into terms with his evil warlord dad, Garmadon. It also features two of the upcoming sets from the said theme: the Green Ninja Mech Dragon (70612) and the Garma Mecha Man (70613), both of which will be offered for sale at the LEGO SDCC Booth #2829 ahead of its release on August 1.

LEGO Superhero Posters Up For Grabs @SDCC 2017.

It’s all about our love for superheroes that drives us towards San Diego Comic Con, and what better way to celebrate it with a couple of free goodies that you can bring home with you if you’re attending the annual fan event. Artist and illustrator extraordinare Tom Wharl joins in the fun by offering his creative take on two upcoming superhero films from MCU and DCEU. Tom has announced via Twitter that two of his latest artistic prints will be given away for free at the LEGO Booth #2829, with him being available for some signature ops.

The first of his prints showcase the heroes of the Justice League as they are seen in their minifigure forms. The Dark Knight seems to be taking center stage, featured in his latest Batman garb. This poster was given during the first day of SDCC, and will have a re-run on Saturday.

Justice League

Next off, Thor and Hulk go head-on as they are pitted against each other in the Grandmaster’s arena as seen in Tom’s rendition of the much awaited MCU film, Thor: Ragnarok.  Hela’s minifig stands tall in the background as the nefarious Norse goddess that threatens the very existence of Asgard itself. This poster is slated to be given away tomorrow Friday, and on Sunday.

The SDCC Force Is Strong With LEGO’s Brick-Built Statue of Luke Skywalker.

Close your eyes… breathe, just breathe… now, reach out… what do you see? Well… I see a LEGO brick-built statue of you, Luke!

Alright, I’m not really good at jokes and these sorts of things, but seeing our next SDCC brick-built statue will probably take our breath away. As impressive as DCEU’s Flash and Thor’s LEGO statues, the legendary Jedi Master himself is now given the life-sized LEGO treatment. As noted by the Hollywood Reporter, this most recent version of Luke Skywalker is the shortest among the three brick-built figures – coming in at 36,743 LEGO bricks. Well, that’s probably OK, since its uber cool to be a vertically challenged Force user (I know, Yoda might be rolling in his grave right now). Alright, enough with the corny jokes. Check these out.

Luke 2 Luke Luke 3

We have a few blessed souls who already made it at SDCC during its preview night, and they took it to Tweeter to share several pics of how these LEGO statues look like on display.

Will you be heading at SDCC 2017? Share your thoughts (and SDCC pics!) via our Facebook page. Be sure to use #LEGOSDCC for everything cool about LEGO and San Diego Comic Con.
