LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Tree House Treasures (31078) Revealed!

Here’s another LEGO Creator 3-in-1 set that fans of the classic LEGO Pirates theme will surely love to have. Since the reveal of the LEGO Creator Pirate Roller Coaster (31084) set, this Pirates themed amusement ride received a relatively positive reception from across a wide spectrum of LEGO fans, and it looks like it will be joined by another similarly themed set anytime soon. French online retailer, Alternate, listed another LEGO 3-in-1 set that follows a similar piratey vibe.

The LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Tree House Treasures (31078) follows the likes of 2016’s Tree House Adventures (31053), but with a Pirates play theme.  Tree House Treasures (31078) comes in at 260 pieces and is expected to retail for 30 Euros. Check out the complete product description below courtesy of Promobricks, followed by its official images.

More Images of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657) Released

A couple of days ago, Italian online retailer Radio Kontrol gave us our first look of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657). Though the site only gave us a glimpse by posting the set’s box art, this time thanks to Alternate, we now have our first batch of official set images.  The Ninjago City Docks (70657) is expected to hit store shelves by June 1, retailing for 244 Euros in France and 230 Euros in Germany. As a sort of expansion set for your ever growing LEGO Ninjago City, the Ninjago City Docks acts like a modular add on to the Ninjago City (70620) set using several Technic pins. However, it is still a complete set all on its own.

Amazon France also posted a brief description of the Ninjago City Docks (70657), and here’s a copy of that in English via Google Translate, followed by additional images.

“Lloyd, Cole and his friends had a great time in The LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE ™ 70657 The NINJAGO Docks and defends against the attacks of Garmadon. This richly detailed complex includes a port with a functional crane, a boat, as well as 2 levels of Old World locations, including a grocery store with a flip-flop and rotating rotisserie, a house with a card room, a kitchen/bedroom, a sculptor’s workshop and a dojo Discovery of the life of a citizen of NINJAGO city including a tea room and an arcade room with interchangeable billboards, arcades to build, a functional distributor and a “balloon” in pig shape attached to the roof. Finally – A LEGO City Hospital (60204) Set That Is Long Overdue!

I say that any LEGO City is obviously lacking without this one, and it looks like LEGO has finally heard our cries for a proper City hospital. Thanks to The Brothers Brick, we now have our first images of the LEGO City Hospital (60204). Those who are into the LEGO City theme and MOCs by heart, knows very well that a LEGO City Hospital set is way long overdue. Though the Friends theme managed to have the Heartlake Hospital (41318) from last year, it is was 6 years ago since we had our first hospital-inspired City build with LEGO City Helicopter Rescue (4429), which in all honesty, looks more like a typical clinic rather than a complete hospital.

The LEGO City Hospital (60204) features a three-storey building, an ambulance, an emergency helicopter, and a dozen minifigures including a baby minifig. It also has some pretty interesting accessories such as a wheelchair, a baby stroller, and a light brick. A like the clever use of the light brick to act like a sort of projector for an x-ray machine. It is said to come in at 861 pieces and is expected to retail for 80 Euros. We have no info yet on its exact release date but we’ll update you as soon as more news comes in. For now, let’s enjoy these images.

Episode 5 of Netflix Documentary Series “The Toys that Made Us” Featuring LEGO Releasing on May 25

Early this year, we gave a brief coverage on The Toys that Made Us, a Netflix documentary series by Brian Volk-Weiss that discussed the history of some of the greatest branded toy lines of past and present. Slated for 8 episodes, four of them were released before a lengthy hiatus.

Now, almost four months since Netflix made available the first four episodes of The Toys that Made Us for streaming, we have a release schedule for the latter half of this documentary; the first of which, episode 5, will cover what we in the Brick Show discuss every day: LEGO.

As our previous article on this documentary feature for LEGO stated, Netflix, Brian Volk-Weiss and The Nacelle Company have as part of the presentation, some LEGO subject-matter expert AFOLs courtesy of Bricks LA. That ought to ensure that The Toys that Made Us would include in-depth information on LEGO history.

generic lego logo w720x448 768x478

In addition to that, there will also be scenes and perhaps interviews to be done at LEGO HQ in Billund, Denmark. You can’t get more first-hand info and company stories than that. I suppose we can now wait in full confidence that this show’s LEGO episode will be respectfully spot-on.

The Toys That Made Us May 25

The earlier half of The Toys that Made Us, put up on Netflix last December 27, 2017 included episodes covering Kenner’s Star Wars, Mattel’s Barbie and He-Man, and Hasbro’s G.I. Joe. The latter – May 25 – episodes, aside from LEGO, will also feature Hasbro’s Transformers, Sanrio’s Hello Kitty and Star Trek.

Official Images of LEGO City Outdoor Adventures (60202) Revealed

It was like only just this weekend when LEGO gave a lot of (freezing) cool love to its City lineup when it released the official images for a subtheme in the Arctic. You might recall there were seven LEGO City Arctic sets there (60190-60196) to build a polar base.

60202 9

But if you happen to like any other location than the freezing topmost north for your LEGO City-building, then perhaps this alternative will be to your liking. There’s another LEGO City set coming our way that trades the frigid Arctic for the Outdoors: LEGO City People Pack – Outdoor Adventures (60202).

60202 3

60202 2

As with most of the reveals that happened over the weekend, this news came from another outside source, a Sarajevo store certified for LEGO. For only 164 pieces and 13 (plus one baby) minifigures, you can recreate a sweet nature park with a variety of activities with some video documentation.

60202 7 60202 6

By that we mean Outdoor Adventures (60202) comes with a sports camera and a mobile phone with selfie stick. That’s not to mention some new additions like a differently-colored mountain bike and redesigned optional life jackets. Oh, and who can resist a little LEGO tile that depicts a fried egg?

60202 1

60202 5

Now, aside from the knowledge that LEGO City 60202 exists, we have yet no idea when it’ll be announced for anywhere outside of Bosnia and Herzegovina for the moment. Hopefully we’ll get more international updates on this LEGO City People Pack, so it won’t be left behind by the Arctic.

Philippine LEGO Fan Convention: ABRICKADABRA 2018 on May 26-27

Never let it be said that we here at The Brick Show does not provide an equal coverage to all news and special events of import to the LEGO fan community, wherever they may be. Aside from happenings on both sides of the Atlantic, we also look to the Pacific.

In the Philippines, the local LEGO fandom organization Philippine LEGO Users Club (PhLUG) is organizing an event next month that is being billed as the biggest LEGO fan gathering and exhibition in that country this year. This is the AKBRICKADABRA 2018, to be held at Makati City in Metro Manila.

As is the standard with LEGO fan events such as these, the ABRICKADADBRA convention is planned to have a major MOC showcase, with PhLUG’s various builder teams working to design over a hundred LEGO MOCs for exhibition. This primary display will be joined by those of invited guest LEGO builders.

But there’s more in store for visitors and enthusiasts to the ABRICKADABRA 2018. In addition to the LEGO display, there will be contests such as MOC building competitions and LEGO videogames, a raffle with LEGO set prizes, and even a children’s play area and workshop to encourage their LEGO interest.

For buyers and collectors, the convention will also bring together a selection of choice LEGO deals for rare and uncommon product items. Both LEGO’s official Philippine distributor LAJ Marketing and highly-regarded resellers from the Manila area will be offering some sweet discounts and deals for sets, minifigures, rare bricks, etc.

The ABRICKADABRA 2018 Philippine LEGO Fan Convention will run for two days in the weekend, from May 26 to 27 (Saturday-Sunday), at the Century City Mall in Makati. For more information you can check the official PhLUG website at lug.ph, write them online at nut.phlugpress@gmail.com, or visit philippinelegousersgroup on Facebook.

“Be Mindful of Your Builds… They Betray You” – Obi-Wan

Ok… that may not be the exact words that the iconic Jedi Master said to Anakin when he confronted him about his fears and struggles, but hey, that is undeniably one cool scene from 2002’s Star Wars Episode II: Attack of the Clones. Obi-Wan is a cut above the rest amongst other Jedi Masters that whatever sage advice that he can give, is golden to the most devout Star Wars faithful. None is as timely as this one, because looking at what Master Builders Tyler and Sean has came up with recently, will leave you with an uneasy feeling that someone might have pulled a Jedi mind trick over you.

So for a full disclosure: what we’re seeing here is not the actual lightsaber of the famed Jedi Master, but an insanely accurate, brick-built version of the real thing. I’m sure Obi-Wan might be laughing his bricks out if ever he gets to hold on to this life-sized custom LEGO lightsaber.

obiwantatooine01

Made up of 240 LEGO pieces, Obi-Wan’s custom LEGO lightsaber also comes with its own stand whenever he needs to take break from his quite stubborn disciple.

Obi Wan White01 1316e8e8 81f4 49cf a2c8

As always, Tyler and Sean never cease to amaze with their creative use of LEGO parts to come up with a highly accurate brick-built rendition of the real thing. I like how they used those black 4×4 round plates to create those ridges on the lightsaber’s hilt, and the clever use of an inverted radar dish (not quite sure if that is the part that they used) to recreate the end portion of the lightsaber.

If you want to follow the Jedi’s path with Obi-Wan, and have his wisdom enshrined in LEGO bricks then be sure to check out Build Better Bricks (B3) and see how you can make your very own custom LEGO lightsaber. Drop by B3’s website for details on how you can get the building instructions to create this elegant masterpiece.

While you’re at it, you may also want to take a look at its counterpart following the likes of the weapon that the Dark Lord of the Sith wielded. If you find yourself drawn more towards the dark side of the Force, then this Darth Vader custom LEGO lightsaber MOC, also from B3, is the one for you.

Japan Likes To Feature Its LEGO Sets In Crazy, Humongous Proportions

For a land where Godzilla and kaijus roam freely, and Jaegers are sent to stave them off – well, at least in the cinemas – it really doesn’t come as a surprise if everything is huge in and around Japan. But seeing what our Asian neighbors did to mix their passion for the LEGO brick and in everything huge, this promotional LEGO stint is impressively overwhelming in so many levels.

Something gargantuan is currently set up at the Futako Tamagawa Rise Galleria Event in Tokyo, where a giant sized version of LEGO City Mountain Police Headquarters (60174) has popped up right smack in the middle of the mall’s premises. The designers of this larger than life build even added a fun twist by making the box look like it’s partially lifted to playfully reveal what’s inside.

The LEGO exhibit features plenty of large-scale dioramas based on the LEGO City Mountain Police theme and a handful of LEGO City sets on display and for sale. The English translation of the event reads: “Super Ultra Huge LEGO City” which is guaranteed to make any passersby have a second look. The exhibit will ran from July until late September at the following locations:

  • Fukuoka Prefecture: July 21st and July 22nd Hakata Station square
  • Miyagi Prefecture: August 4th – August 6th Dream Messages Miyagi
  • Osaka Prefecture: September 29th and 30th LaLaport EXPO CITY

JK Rowling Teases Another LEGO Wizarding World Fantastic Beast Set

Last month, fans of the Harry Potter-verse – now officially known as the “Wizarding World” – were in a flurry of excitement following the release of the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Their LEGO community subset was also piqued with news of tie-in sets like Grindelwald’s Escape (75951).

There was one other set number given in this first reveal, 75952, which was tentatively named “Newt’s Suitcase”. Beyond that, we got no description or image, though those who watched the first movie might have ideas. Anyway, there might be an advance spoiler for this set courtesy of JK Rowling herself.

The celebrated author of the Harry Potter book series that make up the core of the Wizarding World, as well as the screenwriter for the Fantastic Beasts films, posted a telling photo on her Twitter page Monday, April 23. It showed her hand, with a curious plastic magical animal figure.

Fantastic Beasts audiences might recognize that as the Niffler in Newt Scamander’s suitcase from his first film. Rowling noted that she took the photo in the middle of a meeting with Warner Bros., but whether WB had it for her consideration, or LEGO sent it earlier, nobody is quite sure.

If Warner Bros. and LEGO are waiting for another major geek event to finally blow open the Crimes of Grindelwald film and its other LEGO tie-ins, then it’d have to be the San Diego Comic-Con a few months from now. But for now, we have Rowling’s tease to mull over.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald sees the return of Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Johnny Depp from And Where to Find Them. They are joined by Jude Law, Zoe Kravitz and Callum Turner. The film premieres November 16 in both UK and US.
