WATCH: LEGO House Official Video – A Sneak Peek at What’s In Store for Visitors on Grand Opening Day.

We’re just two days away before the acclaimed House of the Brick opens its doors to the public on Thursday, September 28. Located at Billund, Denmark, The LEGO House is one of the main family attractions in Southern Denmark, with fun activities for LEGO fans of all ages. The best part is, with or without a ticket, you still get to see The LEGO House in all of its brick-built glory.

TopBanner what is lego house

Even without a ticket and if you just wish to drop by the LEGO House, then you’ll be glad to know that you can have a leisurely stay at the spacious LEGO Square located inside the LEGO House itself. You can also visit the LEGO Shop where you can find the exclusive LEGO Architecture LEGO House (21037), and the creatively fun LEGO Mosaic Maker which was first available exclusively at the LEGO Store in London. The LEGO House also has three restaurants that integrates the LEGO brick experience, from the moment you place your order and when you enjoy your customized meal.

Looking for a Job? Then You May Want to See How This AFOL Did It.

Here’s something to inspire us. If you’re a fellow AFOL reading this, and you are currently in the process of writing your CV or resume, then you may have realized by now that this is no easy task. Writing a resume that is succinct and comprehensive is a challenge in itself, much more giving it that touch that will somehow make it stand above the rest. The challenge becomes even more daunting when you are applying for a job that requires a great deal of creativity and innovation. As they say, especially in this case, first impressions indeed last.

However, if you are Andy Morris from the UK, a freelance creative artist and a fellow AFOL, then landing your dream job may not be that hard. In fact, you may not even need to arm yourself with pages and pages of curriculum vitae. Perhaps what it takes is just a humble LEGO minifigure.

AndyMorris10 SQ 59aebd01dfb30 880

Not content with the usual bland, white bond paper printed resume, Andy set forth to find the customized LEGO minifigure that will best represent the likeness of his creative, artistic self. The minifigure that he finally settled for is one that carries a laptop on one hand, and custom printed CV in the other. Giving the minifigure a tinge of exclusivity, Andy then packaged it in such a way that gives it an appearance of being like a Comic-Con exclusive LEGO minifig.

AndyMorris7 SQ 59aebcd9e5cb1 880

The front side of the packaging includes his personalized logo, age (printed like a set number), profession, and a blown up illustration of the minifigure. At the back, Andy managed to squeeze in the highlights of his professional career as a creative artist (including an audience with LEGO’s iconic owner Kjeld Kirk Kristiansen) using only 3 brief paragraphs, and added all of his relevant contact details and presence in the web. As a final touch and to add an element of excitement, Andy placed this ‘Comic-Con resume’ inside a gift box wittingly adding the message, “Unwrap your latest employee”.

The only issue here is that Andy is, indeed of ‘limited availability’. So best of luck to those who are eyeing on him. Here’s Andy with more on his creative process.

My name is Andy Morris and I’m a recent design graduate from the University of South Wales who enlivened my job applications with a unique CV in the form of a LEGO minifigure. I used my design philosophy and experience with toys to create a LEGO minifigure CV that sets me apart from my peers.

My fun take on the classic curriculum vitae comes in the form of a minifigure that resembles my own likeness, holding a laptop in one hand and a miniature custom printed CV in the other. Meanwhile, the packaging has been designed to appear like the exclusive LEGO figures normally reserved for the likes of Comic-Con, while also featuring design elements unique to my work. The entire package and minifigure display the care, detail, and design philosophies that I hold dear, all while conveying my commitment to fun and innovation. This combines to create an interesting CV that sets me apart from my contemporaries while still conveying the necessary information, and proving that everything can be fun if you take the right approach.

Toys R Us Singapore Is Giving Away This Cool, 20-Inch Minifigure Maxi Stand.

Toys R Us Singapore and Taiwan is currently running a contest in connection to its Bricktober 2017 promotions. If you have your eyes set on collecting TRU’s exclusive Bricktober 2017 minifigures, then you might be glad to know that you have the chance of winning a 50-centimeter (or roughly 20 inches), maxi minifigure stand made entirely of LEGO bricks.

00

Based on its description, this brick-built giant minifigure replica is specifically designed with a hollow torso, large enough to fit and display an entire 16-piece LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series. It is entirely made of white bricks and at 50 centimeters in height, it comes close to the size of the 18-inch brick-built Medusa that was raffled away by TT Games at E3 last June.

Toys R Us exclusive giant minifigure raffle contest.

The Maxifigure/Minifigure Stand is a creative way to flaunt your prized minifigure collection. Though I hope that it will be able to accommodate at least 20 minifigures (for example, those from the LEGO Batman Movie CMF), the idea of coming up with a brick-built giant minifigure to display your minifgs is a very creative one. It is also a pretty straightforward build, which any LEGO fan can replicate – granted that you have enough white bricks, super glue, and building instructions of course.

To be eligible to join, contestants must be able to present four printed receipts, each of which reflecting the Bricktober Minifigures promo, and are dated within the specified promo periods that the minifigure sets were received. All four receipts qualify you for one raffle entry, and though multiple purchases and receipts are allowed, submitted receipt numbers may only be submitted once. Registration starts on October 20, while the winner will be announced on November 24 via TRU Singapore’s official Facebook page. For more details, you may read the full contest details right here. Will the LEGO faithful see this same raffle contest happen in the US? We just have to wait and see.

TRU’s Bricktober 2017 Minifigure Sets Comes in a Diorama Format.

A couple of weeks ago, we saw the official images of this year’s Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 minifigure sets and this time, more info is coming in from TRU’s outlets in south east Asia. Thanks to TRU Taiwan and Singapore, we have additional images that suggest that we’ll be expecting more than just the usual package of four minifigures.

TRU Singapore’s Bricktober 2017 ad.

TRU Taiwan’s blog site shares details on this year’s Bricktober minifigure sets which apparently includes a diorama for each of them. Each set comes with its unique, foldable diorama that complements the minifigs’ in them. Check these out.

LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Collectible Minifigures (5004941)

As  you can see, the LEGO Batman Movie Minifigures (5004939) comes with what it seems to be a facade of Gotham City, while the LEGO City Jungle Exploration Minifigures (5004940) is placed on a jungle themed background (that seems obvious), and the LEGO Collectible Minifigures (5004941) set comes in with a sea rescue diorama format. What I find rather odd is how the LEGO Ninjago Minifigures (5004938) set is packaged. Since it is clear that the set specifically refers to Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu, the accompanying background is expected to be based on the recent season of the TV show. However, as you can see from the image above, its choice of diorama takes its cue from The LEGO Ninjago Movie, which is quite out of place in my opinion. Nevertheless, the diorama itself is a nice addition to these limited edition sets and adds a touch of exclusivity to them. It reminds me of the LEGO Batman Movie Movie Maker Set (853650), and the LEGO Ninjago Movie Movie Maker Set (853702) which comes with their similar backdrops.

toy 013

Though TRU stores in some parts of Asia and Europe have already announced their Bricktober release schedules, we still yet to see the same in the US and North America. Traditionally, these sets are released in the month of October, so we are expecting to hear some word from Toys R Us any time soon. Let us know in the comments below if you happen to spot these minifigs in your local TRU store.

Back in Billiund, the key designers behind The LEGO NINJAGO Movie take readers through the process of working alongside a major movie production, explaining the development of the sets, their contribution to the film itself and teasing a few little Easter eggs to watch out for on screen. Simon Lucas, Nicolaas Vás and Chris Stamp also provide a focused look at the development of 70620 NINJAGO City, demonstrating how it became the masterpiece that it is.

Daniel Konstanski is inspired by the amazing concept art that was designed for The LEGO NINJAGO Movie to build a massive version of NINJAGO City, taking ques from all of the different styles, colours and features that are found in the cinematic version. Coming in at 1,403 the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon is the third largest LEGO Ninjago Movie set offered to the public. Other than the Destiny’s Bounty (70618) where you can have the entire team with their ninja masks on, the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon (70617) is the only set that has the complete minifigure roster of our teen ninjas, each donned with their own unique hair pieces and signature weapons. The Temple itself is like a shout out to Indiana Jones Temple of Doom, filled with a host of traps, a secret entrance, and two monstrous stone guardians. The design of the Temple itself is impressive, with an Asian inspired outer facade concealing the many traps waiting inside. Over-all, this is a LEGO set that I will not hesitate to recommend.

Here’s LEGO’s product animation feature of the Temple of the Ultimate Ultimate Weapon (70618), showing some of the cool play features of this set.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Wave 2 Sets Revealed + LEGO Ninjago Movie Promotionals Now Up!

There has been a lot of activity in LEGO fandom during these past few days, especially prior to the launch of The LEGO Ninjago Movie in the US and the rest of North America. Though I haven’t seen it yet since the movie launch date is a week late here from where I am based, I’m pretty sure that it is a fun film to watch in spite of the mixed reviews that it is getting recently. Without revealing too much spoilers about the film, LEGO has released images of its second wave of LEGO Ninjago Movie sets said to be available towards the end of this year, courtesy of Promobricks.

We already have a hint about this second wave of sets, considering the reveal of the polybag, microversion of Cole’s Quake Mech (30379) back in July, and this time we now have a better look at its larger version. Additionally, we have one interesting set that is making a comeback: The Lloyd – Spinjitzu Master (70628). These and other new sets, along with the SDCC-revealed garmadon, Garmadon, GARMADON! (70656), are expected to hit the toy shelves just in time for the holidays.

Lloyd – Spinjitzu Master (70628)
Includes a Ninjago Movie Lloyd minifigure; estimated at $11.

Includes Kai, Misako, Ray, and Shark Army Gunner minifigures; estimated at $25.

Garmadon’s Volcano Lair (70631)
Includes Zane, Garmadon, Shark Army General #1, Shark Army Octopus, and GPL Tech minifigures; estimated at $65.

Cole’s Quake Mech (70632)
Includes Cole, Misako, Fred Finley, Crusty, and Shark Army Thug minifigures; estimated at $109.

70632 1 e1506206817935 70632 2

The Lloyd-Spinjitzu Master (706218) is a welcome treat for all spinjitzu fans out there. Though we only have Lloyd as of the moment, we can fairly assume that the rest of The LEGO Ninjago Movie characters will be added to the roster of spinning masters as well. The Quake Mech (70632) is a spot-on representation of Cole’s actual battle mech in the film, and over all, probably best mech-themed set in The LEGO Ninjago Movie line-up. Though common sense might tell you that this is quite an unstable build due to the fact that it is only balanced on a large wheel more like a unicycle, the designers of the Quake Mech cleverly added a rod piece at the back of the wheel to add more stability to this build. We don’t have yet the exact price of these sets in USD nor their piece count, but given its size and value in Euros, we provided a rough estimate of how much it might sell in the US.

So, if you’re still holding on to that LEGO Ninjago Movie purchase up until now, you might be interested to know that the free Mini Green Ninja Mech Dragon (30428) polybag promotional is still up at shop.LEGO.com.  I’m not sure if this is the case in your local LEGO brand stores since it stocks might be out already considering that it comes as a freebie for a relatively small price range – a minimum purchase of any LEGO item of worth $35 and more.

30428 alt1 30428 1

To sweeten the deal, another promotional is currently live: the free and exclusive LEGO Ninjago Movie Lloyd minifigure (30609) polybag starting September 22 to October 8 or until supplies last. This exclusive Lloyd minifigure comes with a different torso print and a tasselled sword piece, as seen in the movie. As far as I know, this is the only Lloyd minifigure that comes with said torso print, showing his ninja garb beneath the green hoodie. You can have these minifigure polybag for free for any LEGO purchase of $50 and more at shop.LEGO.com, or at your local LEGO Store.

As of this writing, I can confirm that the Mini Green Ninja Mech Dragon (30428) is still up at shop.LEGO.com since it is still appearing in my cart upon checkout, though I’m not sure until when. So if you’re eyeing on that LEGO Ninjago Movie set that you are itching to have, then I suggest now is the time to hit that checkout button.

LEGO 2017 Advent Calendars Now Available!

Last February, we had a glimpse of this year’s range of LEGO Advent Calendars at the highly celebrated New York Toy Fair. The LEGO Advent Calendars are quite popular for their neat microscale builds and tons of unique parts and elements, plus the anticipation of what you’ll going to get is fun in itself. I personally want to bag that cute, little snowboarding BB-8 from the Star Wars Advent Calendar.  It’s kind of neat to see how LEGO manages to include almost all of the most memorable characters and scenes included in two of the most recent Star Wars films – Rogue One and The Force Awakens.

Be sure to keep tabs with us here at the Brick Show for more LEGO set updates and reviews!
