LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) Minifigure Images Uploaded Via LEGO’s Servers

We’ve come to expect at certain seasons and occasions of the year that LEGO will release a new, costumed minifigure contained in a house-shaped box package. This usual setup has the dual purpose of having the box serve as a cheap background for play with the costumed minifigure. And if you recall from July of last year, we first spotted this on the wild. Since then, LEGO was pretty silent regarding this promotional’s availability. On Christmas Eve, it was noticed by eagle-eyed LEGO fans that the servers for LEGO’s websites now held the first official images for the latest LEGO seasonal costumed LEGO minifigure, now since spread throughout the rest of the internet. This is the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251), one last themed LEGO product for the soon-concluding holidays.

For a change, the product specifically calls the minifigure character to be a girl, though it would be relatively hard to tell minifig gender when they’re wearing a full-body costume. Anyway, the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) comes with a pair of skis for equipment, with its box packaging depicting a cozy, Winter Hut facade. Here’s a look at its content courtesy of an eBay user.

It’s estimated that LEGO will start the promo for the Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) sometime before the year actually ends. Most likely it’ll be available with a minimum purchase, the precise details to be shared to LEGO fans who have signed up for email alerts from their website.

Minifigures Galore in Shop@Home’s LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) Promo

The promos just won’t stop coming at LEGO Shop@Home with more and more giveaways being presented that could be had with just the right amount of minimum purchase. If the nearly illusive LEGO Jurassic World Bricktober 2018 minifigure set (5005255) doesn’t catch your fancy, then how about LEGO Star Wars?

Shop@Home has introduced a nice little LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) that’s filled with a selection of minifigures that have come out for the line and made available in past promos throughout 2018. Every box has five of these minifigures, and will be added free to any minimum LEGO Star Wars product purchase of $75.

But that’s not all. Everyone who makes the necessary LEGO Star Wars purchases on Shop@Home to get the LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) will earn them a chance to win even more Star Wars goodies, such as jewelry in the form of R2-D2 (in platinum or sterling silver variants) and a Signed & Graded TC-14. Do note that this portion of the promo on Shop@Home is valid only within the US and Washington DC, plus in Canada (but not Quebec).

Considering the minifigures that go into the LEGO Star Wars Box (5005704) are all leftovers from previous Shop@Home promos, it goes without saying that supplies will be limited. So there’s nothing left to say here but to go and get it now. You only have until this Wednesday, December 19 at midnight (Eastern Standard Time).

First Peek at The LEGO Movie 2 Promotional Cinema Standee

Hey, we’ve got another report concerning The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part. We hope you’re not bored with them yet, especially as this one relates to the film itself, rather than the tie-in sets we’ve been featuring in days past. In particular, this concerns The LEGO Movie 2 promotional cinema standee.

Many major Hollywood blockbusters usually go beyond just cinema posters for hyping their movies and include freestanding ads like cinema standees. LEGO news source Brick Fanatics has shared an image of the LEGO Movie 2 standee (courtesy of Flickr member Penciller Zero), featuring a LEGO-spaceship already familiar to fans that have seen the film’s other promotional images.

Remember that image of the starship with the round window? That’s the vessel of the Systar General Sweet Mayhem, who abducted several of the LEGO Movie master builders including Emmet and Wyldstyle. The ship is rendered in the standee, with the captive master builders Batman, MetalBeard, Unikitty and Benny inside the window. Plus Mayhem, Emmet and Wyldstyle freely standing outside and to the vessel’s sides.

It’ll be great to see this impressive LEGO Movie 2 promotional cinema standee being set up in a major theater near you as we all look forward to the release of The LEGO Movie 2 in February next year. We hope your local cinema gets one of these for those brick-loving groupies.

LEGO Jurassic World (5005255): Last LEGO Bricktober 2018 Set to Be “Conventionally” Available in the US, Now on Shop@Home

If any of our readers has watched Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse in cinemas lately, then they’ll get the statement “All right, let’s do this one last time”. We’ve talked about the 2018 LEGO Bricktober 4-minifigure box sets so many times before, as they became available (save for one). Now, the last of these has come.

After seeing the Harry Potter Bricktober (5005254) in Barnes & Noble, and the Ninjago (5005257) in LEGO Stores, now the 2018 Bricktober of LEGO Jurassic World (500525) is up on Shop@Home US. Note that supplies for this set, supposed to only be for the Toys R Us Bricktober event, is limited. That might explain the high $99 minimum LEGO purchase to get one of these.

The fourth 2018 Bricktober set showing LEGO Marvel Super Heroes (5005256) is apparently never coming stateside due to being an exclusive offering at Toys R Us Canada. That’s too bad.

One major draw for this particular LEGO Bricktober minifigure set is the fact that it has one new minifigure version of Jurassic Park/World franchise character Dr. Ian Malcolm. And apparently LEGO hasn’t mentioned that the LEGO Jurassic World Bricktober set (500525) will come to LEGO Stores, so the only recourse for collectors is at Shop@Home.

Digital Videogame Store Humble Bundle Offers LEGO The Hobbit for Free

UPDATE (01/08/2019): Apparently, several news sources have been reporting that both LEGO Lord of the Rings and LEGO The Hobbit video games were now removed as well from popular PC gaming platform Steam. There’s no official word from LEGO or WB Interactive regarding this removal, but we can only speculate that this may have something to do with unresolved copyright issues.

———————————————————–

There have been so many franchises that have been licensed with LEGO to become toy sets and other media like video games, that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Some even fade into relative obscurity years after release. For instance, WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales’ LEGO The Hobbit that came out in 2014.

For those LEGO gamers who are also fans of Tolkien’s fantasy universe – and their cinematic adaptations by Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema – there’s a unique limited-time opportunity being given by digital videogame store Humble Bundle, where they’re offering LEGO The Hobbit on Steam…absolutely free!

This free copy of LEGO The Hobbit on Humble Bundle is only available until Saturday, December 15, ending at 10 AM PST. Interested parties availing of this offer on Humble Bundle will receive a code by email, which can be redeemed on Steam until December 20, by 10 AM PST.

LEGO The Hobbit, much like other licensed LEGO games from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales, is a video game adaptation of the events from the first two Hobbit films, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. It’s also notable for having a planned – but canceled – DLC expansion based on the then-unreleased third Hobbit movie, The Battle of the Five Armies.

A subsidiary of IGN, Humble Bundle offers some great prices for games in digital format, a portion of which is given to a number of charities partnered with the store. LOTR and Hobbit fans should take advantage of this offer.

UK’s LEGO Shop@Home Offers LEGO City Adventures in the Arctic Bundle (5005749)

Our regular readers here on The Brick Show who have been following the release of LEGO City sets throughout the year would remember the wave of sets that showed a rather un-city-like setting: the LEGO City Arctic subtheme. The awesome sets that showed high-tech vehicles traversing ice shelves and even digging up a frozen mammoth would fire up the imaginations of LEGO explorers. These LEGO City sets together would make for a sprawling brick-built base where one can imagine exploring the subzero cold regions of the uttermost north. And LEGO knows this too if their latest promotional package for Shop@Home UK with the LEGO City Adventures in the Arctic Bundle (5005749).

5005749 alt1

Included in this bundle are five out of the seven Arctic explorer-themed LEGO City sets that were introduced this year. Furthermore, being sold as a bundle means it’s priced less than all five individual sets in total. The LEGO City sets in this bundle include the following:

Arctic Exploration Team (60191)

60191 alt1

Arctic Ice Crawler (60192)

60192 alt1

Arctic Air Transport (60193)

60193 alt1

Arctic Scout Truck (60194)

60194 alt1

Arctic Mobile Exploration Base (60195)

60195 alt1

What should’ve been £175.95 is now at a more manageable £130.95 for the LEGO City Adventures in the Arctic Bundle (5005749). And it also heralds a holiday wave of more multi-set LEGO bundles coming out this month. From what we can tell though, they’re only available only in Europe so far, and are also limited in stock so it will be wise to purchase this now, especially if these sets are included in your wishlist this holidays.

Kids Get Free Entrance at LEGOLAND California Resort in Celeberation of its 20th Anniversary

In the shadow of a certain mega-complex of theme parks in Anaheim, California there’s a smaller but no less popular destination in Carlsbad, for families who are fans of one of the world’s biggest toy brands, operating for almost two decades. Come 2019, LEGOLAND California Resort will be turning 20.

So while the bigger theme park complexes are celebrating the birth of the world’s most famous animated mouse (something LEGO also has a hand in), LEGOLAND California Resort for its part is gearing for a most enjoyable promo next year to celebrate their opening back in 1999. What they have in mind will blow guests’ minds.

Considering the topic is “birthdays”, on 2019 LEGOLAND California will allow free admission to children age 3-12 if they visit the theme park on their birthdays. To quote LCR general manager Peter Ronchetti, “2019 is our 20th birthday and we’re proud to announce that all year in 2019, children of 12 and under will come in free on their birthday.”

This promo is effective in LEGOLAND California Resort from January 1 to December 31, 2019. Parents can avail this for their birthday celebrant children by presenting a document to prove birthdate (original birth certificate, passport or government ID). The free admission tickets are for Sea Life aquarium, LEGOLAND + Sea Life Aquarium, and LEGOLAND + Sea Life + Water Park.

Of course, in the event that a child’s birthday falls on a day when LEGOLAND is closed, there are two options available: the celebrant can go to Sea Life Aquarium for free instead, or they can come back on the closest date to the birthday when LEGOLAND California Resort is operating.

These free admission tickets for children under 12 are non-transferable, though the terms and conditions may change without notice throughout the year. As for children age 2 and under, they’ve always been admitted free to LEGOLAND, and that won’t change.

SPOTTED: New LEGO Movie 2 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) Polybag

It’s getting more and more awesome as we approach the end of this year because it means that a whole new wave of The LEGO Movie 2 sets will be out there for the taking come January 1st. LEGO didn’t hold back on the reveals as it unveiled 19 TLM2 sets just in time before the film debuts in theaters on February 8, 2019. This time around, LEGO is expanding the roster of its TLM2 theme with the introduction of its first polybag. Reportedly spotted at Walmart stores by eagle-eyed LEGO fans, the LEGO Movie 2 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) polybag has now find its way in eBay,which, thankfully, gives us a better view on what to expect from this polybag.

Based on the following images, this wacky, scaled down version of the sea-faring,battle-hardened pirate MetalBeard looks very much the same as that in the Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard (70836).Though smaller in scale, it is interesting to note that even in just 42 pieces, this smaller version of MetalBeard allows you to build him in three distinct modes: a crab-like walker, a trike, and a micro pirate ship. Obviously, these are interchangeable builds and you’ll need three of these polybags to build each of MetalBeard’s modes separately.

30528 01
There is no doubt that MetalBeard is perhaps the most versatile character in The LEGO Movie 2 universe. 🙂

Since this has been spotted on Walmart store shelves, it is most likely that this particular polybag is a retailer-specific set. However,it is fair to assume that LEGO still has a couple of TLM2 polybags waiting to be revealed, very much the same as how they did it with the first LEGO Movie. If you recall back in 2014 LEGO released several polybags that are promotional tie-ins directly related to the first TLM film:  The Piece of Resistance (30280), Micro Manager Battle (30281), and Super Secret Police Enforcer (30282).

We’ll find out soon enough, so stay tuned for more updates. Thanks to Justin for the heads-up!

LEGO Black VIP Cards to Receive a Commemorative Card-Case Stand

Over a year ago, the LEGO Star Wars fandom sort of went bananas with the release of the now-legendary LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192). And even non-Star Wars fans might have fancied getting it if only to receive the highly coveted LEGO Black VIP cards.

How fortunate indeed are those members of the LEGO VIP program that managed to get this exclusive card, with its recognizable Millennium Falcon silhouette design. LEGO announced days ago that they will be sending a gift off to all registered black VIP cardholders. Any day now they’ll be receiving an email with a special code to use at Shop@Home to redeem this special VIP gift.

LEGO black VIP cards

And what a present indeed, for it happens to be a brick-built display frame for LEGO black VIP cards. Able to stand on its own, the frame also includes an all-black minifigure with the Millennium Falcon VIP card design on its front.

This LEGO Star Wars VIP gift, numbered 5005747, will only be available conventionally to recipients of the LEGO black VIP cards via the code sent to them through email. Any non-black VIP members are out of luck outside of secondary market sources. In a way, this gift set makes all the frenzy and mailing hiccups in getting the black VIP card last year all the more worth it.
