SPOTTED: New LEGO City Sky Police Jetpack (30362) Polybag

The year 2018 is about to come to an end, and with the first day of January 2019, a lot of new LEGO sets will be launched for everyone. Well, that was the default arrangement were it not for some early releases of those same sets in, say, the UK. So in the US, LEGO fans will have to wait for January 1 to get their hands on some of the most impressive LEGO City sets ever conceptualized, with subthemes pertaining to firefighting and law enforcement against tech-savvy crooks.  And following the reveal of the nifty LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) polybag, we now have another polybag that we can add to our collection: the new LEGO City Sky Police Jetpack (30362).

As with the 2019 police-themed sets’ premise of high-tech crime-fighting, this 33-piece polybag has a jetpack-wearing cop taking on a robber stealing money with a drone.

We can likely expect this LEGO polybag to show up on retail, though having it be part of a promotion isn’t out of the question either. The City Sky Police Jetpack (30362) will certainly look spiffy next to other upcoming 2019 LEGO City sets with tech-cops facing tech-criminals: Sky Police Jet Patrol (60206), Sky Police Drone Chase (60207), Parachute Arrest (60208) and Diamond Heist (60209).

New 2019 LEGO Sets Released Earlier Than Expected at LEGO Shop@Home in the UK

In the lead-up to the Holidays we at The Brick Show we’ve been able to look at the cream of the crop that is the initial series of 2019 sets across LEGO’s primary theme lines and licensed properties. From the girls of LEGO Friends to the soldiers of LEGO Overwatch, there are new 2019 LEGO sets for any bona fide LEGO fan of whatever theme that suits their fancy.

Of course, AFOLs (who may have forgone Holiday sales to save up for the start of next year) must have been tightly wound up waiting for December 31 to become January 1 so they could start lining up for the new sets. Apparently, LEGO UK had other ideas and moved the new 2019 LEGO sets and their release date… one week in advance, before 2018 closes.

That means LEGO Shop@Home in the UK now has an insane number of new sets to offer for online shopping in the post-Christmas blitz. It’s going to be a pain on many wallets and piggy banks, but fans do seem to find ways. Here’s what’s on now for British LEGO fans for 2019, available one week early:

SPOTTED: New LEGO Movie 2 Mini Master-Building Emmet (30529) Polybag Found in Walmart and Target Stores

From box sets to polybags, if it’s tied into The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part coming early in 2019, then it’s getting a big push as they roll out prior to the film’s premiere itself. Among the polybag tie-ins already available is the nifty Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) 3-in-1 set, and it’s already joined early by one more addition. Just as the LEGO Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) has been located online in eBay, a similar 3-in-1 polybag has been spotted in real life at major retailer shelves. This is the Mini Master-Building Emmet (30529) polybag, featuring LEGO Movie’s main character.

30529 2

We’ve seen the multiform “modes” of the MetalBeard polybag (tripod walker, tricycle and sailing ship). Emmet, as typical of him, has a pile of LEGO bricks he can build into a construction crane, a car or a bipedal walker. It fits his everyman nature compared to the gritty aesthetics of his costars in LEGO Movie 2, as seen in trailers.

Already two big names in retail have been noted to have the LEGO Mini Master-Building Emmet (30529) polybag on stock for buyers: Walmart and Target. It comes in the $3.97 typical polybag price range, and has 49 pieces in all.

Time will tell what other surprises LEGO has for us as the year turns, all to hype up The LEGO Movie 2 on February 2019.

Amazon Australia Names LEGO as The Best-Selling Toy Brand During The Holiday Season

It’s now the post-Christmas period of the overall year-end Holiday season. As the days count down to the end of 2018, businesses and retailers start taking stock of their earnings even as they fire off some last-minute promo or other. And LEGO, according to Amazon Australia, was a major seller. The Australian arm of the global online retail giant Amazon has reported some new records in terms of online shopping following the major December Holiday occasions of Christmas and Boxing Day 2018. According to their estimates for the past several weeks, LEGO was deemed Amazon Australia’s best-selling toy brand overall.

To further elaborate, among the most sought-after LEGO products in the year-end rush that endeared LEGO to be the best-selling toy brand are sets from the LEGO Harry Potter and Star Wars themes, both licensed LEGO lines that have had major set releases in this year, including the massive Hogwarts Castle (71043) and the Kessel Run Millennium Falcon (75212).

71022

And on Amazon Australia’s Boxing Day Sale event, the best-selling toy was the LEGO Minifigures Harry Potter and Fantastic Beasts Collectible Series (71022). It just goes to show how strong the LEGO fandom is down under. One can optimistically hope that the same goes for LEGO in other Amazon markets.

Asia-Exclusive LEGO Chinese New Year Sets To Be Released First in Malaysia

We’re quite sure that if you’ve been following us here on The Brick Show then you know about the incredible market-exclusive sets that LEGO is releasing in China and the Asian region: two artistic renditions of the traditional Chinese New Year celebration. While no info was given on whether these LEGO Chinese New Year sets would reach the West, we have word on where in Asia it may arrive at the earliest time.

As it turns out, Malaysia will have the honor of being one of the earliest Asian countries to offer the LEGO regional sets Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (80101) and Dragon Dance (80102). Malaysian LEGO shoppers can start looking for these on the first day of 2019 at LEGO certified stores and local retailer Box of Bricks, likely at Sunway Pyramid and The Gardens Mall.

80101_alt1

Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (80101) and Dragon Dance (80102) have gotten plenty of attention for being the first LEGO sets manufactured for sale exclusively in the Asia-Pacific, and primarily in the country whose customs it ingeniously depicted therein: China.

Dragon Dance (80102)

For Malaysia, these two seasonally themed LEGO sets will be priced at over 250 Ringgit. The buzz they’ve generated in LEGO news circles will ensure fans in that country will form long lines to acquire one or both sets. As this writer might be finding himself in Malaysia either in late January or early February, here’s hoping they don’t run out of these treasures just yet.

Additional Info on Rumored LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home

The year 2019 will see the end, in a way, of an era in the now decade-old Marvel Cinematic Universe as the remaining superheroes of that live-action franchise gather to take down Thanos in Avengers: Endgame, the last installment of MCU Phase 3 and the overarching narrative begun in 2008. Here too will start the post-MCU narrative in Spider-Man: Far from Home, the movie which spoils the undoing of the title character’s cessation of existence as seen in Avengers: Infinity War earlier this year. Speaking of spoilers, there were plenty to be had when the names of the two films’ LEGO tie-in sets were revealed: particularly from the expected LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame and Spider-Man: Far From Home tie-in sets.

Names for the upcoming LEGO Marvel Super Heroes MCU tie-in were shared by a set retailer from Romania, and they make for some interesting reading. Before you proceed, be assured that there are no major spoilers here, in fact, I wouldn’t go as far to label these as spoilers, with the exception perhaps of those under the Spider-Man: Far From Home subtheme. So I guess there’s no serious harm done if you ever get to read these unconfirmed LEGO Marvel set names. With that out of the way, do read on to your heart’s content.

LEGO Marvel Avengers: Endgame

  1. Captain America: Attack of the Outrider (76123) – 167 pieces, $20
  2. War Machine Crusher (76124) – 362 pieces, $35
  3. Iron Man Armor Room (76125) – 524 pieces, $60
  4. Avengers Super Quinjet (76126) – 832 pieces, $80
  5. Battle of the Assembled Avengers (76131) – 699 pieces, $100

Spoiler details to consider above include stuff like a possible new War Machine armor, and a new Quinjet transport for the Avengers (in the comics, the earliest Quinjets were space-capable already)

LEGO Marvel Spider-Man: Far from Home

  1. Molten Man’s Battle (76128)
  2. Hydro Man’s Attack (76129)
  3. Stark’s Plane and Drone Attack (76130)

Movie spoilers here are more blatant, with the identities of the possible super-villain antagonists spelled out and confirmation that Tony Stark not only makes it through Endgame, but remains Peter Parker’s mentor figure.

UPDATE: Avengers: Endgame premieres April 2019. Spider-Man: Far from Home takes its turn later in July. As for the tie-in sets mentioned above, already know that they are happening thanks to the 2019 LEGO Catalog, for the details about these sets, we need only wait for LEGO’s confirmation.

LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) Minifigure Images Uploaded Via LEGO’s Servers

We’ve come to expect at certain seasons and occasions of the year that LEGO will release a new, costumed minifigure contained in a house-shaped box package. This usual setup has the dual purpose of having the box serve as a cheap background for play with the costumed minifigure. And if you recall from July of last year, we first spotted this on the wild. Since then, LEGO was pretty silent regarding this promotional’s availability. On Christmas Eve, it was noticed by eagle-eyed LEGO fans that the servers for LEGO’s websites now held the first official images for the latest LEGO seasonal costumed LEGO minifigure, now since spread throughout the rest of the internet. This is the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251), one last themed LEGO product for the soon-concluding holidays.

For a change, the product specifically calls the minifigure character to be a girl, though it would be relatively hard to tell minifig gender when they’re wearing a full-body costume. Anyway, the LEGO Seasonal Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) comes with a pair of skis for equipment, with its box packaging depicting a cozy, Winter Hut facade. Here’s a look at its content courtesy of an eBay user.

It’s estimated that LEGO will start the promo for the Penguin Girl Winter Hut (5005251) sometime before the year actually ends. Most likely it’ll be available with a minimum purchase, the precise details to be shared to LEGO fans who have signed up for email alerts from their website.

New for 2019: LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) Polybag Revealed

These past few weeks, we shared with you some of the upcoming LEGO sets to watch out for in 2019. And this time around, LEGO has again updated its servers to now include another set that will add some little detail to your City MOC: the LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) polybag.

As you may know already, the next wave of LEGO City sets follows a crime and firefighting theme, and as expected, there are not only big box sets for this line but also some very affordable polybags. The LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) polybag features a vehicle and minifigure combo that’ll go well perhaps with the LEGO City Fire Plane set (60217), which would optimally set for an ATV-friendly wooded area terrain.

lego-city-30361_3.jpg

The LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) is composed of 39 pieces to assemble a red, siren-equipped quadbike. The firefighter minifigure is quite the find too, equipped with a fire extinguisher and a two-color scheme fire ax that seems to be a new color variation for this minifig accessory as mentioned by one PromoBricks reader.

We can probably expect the LEGO City Fire ATV (30361) to appear with all the other LEGO City 2019 sets – firefighting-themed or otherwise – and that it’ll be priced on retail as any LEGO polybag might be, under $5 or so (Promo Bricks surmises €3.49 in Europe). Now all that’s left is waiting.

LEGO Movie 2 Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) Polybag Spotted in Target

The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part is only about two months away from its premiere, and already a lot of the big set tie-ins have been revealed in past months. Now, the tie-in polybags are getting their turn on the spotlight, with the recent showings of Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) and Star-Stuck Emmet (30620). Now, there’s one other LEGO Movie 2 set priced as a polybag that’s longlisted on the Eurobricks forum, one with the set number 30340. A reader of LEGO news source The Brick Fan has found the said polybag being sold in Target, and has given its name: Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340).

Emmet's 'Piece' Offering (30340)

Coming in at 44 pieces, the pun-worthy Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) is a multicolored brick-built heart, ostensibly made by Emmet, which also comes as a minifig included in this polybag.

As with most LEGO polybag sets, we might expect Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) to be likely priced at $3.99 – the Eurobricks listing being at €2.99 in turn. We hope to eventually get further details on this little set very soon.

The LEGO Movie 2 Star Stuck Emmet (30620) Polybag Revealed!

We now have our second LEGO Movie 2 polybag hot on the heels of the recently revealed Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528). Brickset has recently updated its database, and we now get to see the sequel’s second tie-in polybag in the form of the LEGO Movie 2 Star Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag, If you recall from the official trailer, we get to see Sweet Mayhem causing havoc in the already torn down city of Bricksburg in pursuit of Lucy and Emmet. The battle-ready citizens of Bricksburg run for cover as they flee towards the Bat Cave. The moment that Emmet, Lucy and Unikitty finally made their way to Batman’s fortress, one of Sweet Mayhem’s Star Bombs got stuck in between the massive gates of the Bat Cave.

gate star bomb

Unfortunately for our heroes, Emmet can’t resist the adorable, seemingly hurt Star Bomb and eventually gave in and opened the gate. Eventually, LEGO managed to capture those huge gates in microscale form with the LEGO Movie 2 Star Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag. Though Emmet is present in almost all upcoming LEGO Movie 2 sets, making it relatively easy to get one, this new polybag a cost-effective way to grab that new Emmet minifigure.

30620 1

Small as it may seem, this set also features a moveable gate that opens and closes using a gear and wrench piece. It also replicates the massive gates using several sand green Nexo Knights shield pieces and includes two printed tiles that show two alternate expressions of the Star Bomb.

Unlike the Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) polybag which was reported to have been spotted at several Walmart stores, we don’t have any word yet on where to find the Star Stuck Emmet (30620) polybag. We’ll let you know once more news comes in, or feel free to give us a tip if ever you spot one of this. For now, if you haven’t seen the rest of the awesome LEGO Movie 2 sets offered by LEGO, then be sure to head over LEGO Shop@Home to know more about them.
