LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition Arriving in 2019

On the print media front, LEGO has done much to cultivate partnerships with several of publishing lines like Dorling-Kindersley or DK. Through them came a number of LEGO reference books, most especially the Visual Dictionaries that were handy info books for identifying sets and minifigures from various tie-in LEGO-licensed franchises. The fact that new LEGO sets and minifigures, and reissues of old ones, happen quite regularly, means said visual dictionaries need updating every few years or so, and next on the revamp is the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition which is slated to arrive next year.

It would be the second reissue of the visual dictionary for LEGO Star Wars by DK in its entire print run. The original book debuted in 2009, and DK released an “Updated and Expanded” edition only four years ago, in 2014. By the time the “New Edition” comes out, five years would have already passed.

The new content joining the update of the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition will be rather obvious since the Star Wars sequel trilogy began showing after 2014. Models of Poe Dameron’s X-Wing, and minifigure details on Rey and Kylo Ren are obvious additions for it. What could probably be the book’s main selling point could be the exclusive LEGO Star Wars minifigure that traditionally goes along with this.

We can expect the DK LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition to come out at bookstores by April 1, 2019. And that’s no April Fools’ joke since its already listed in Amazon with the pre-order offers still pending. DK’s LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary Exclusive Minifigure Is The Yellow Lantern Batman

It’s the start of a new month, and it’s usually the best time for LEGO to make new revelations on what products they’ve teased earlier in the year. For instance, back in February, they previewed several new books on original LEGO themes and licensed franchises courtesy of Dorling Kindersley (DK). One of the books featured then was the LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary. And like many LEGO books, this one has an exclusive minifigure on the cover and we finally know what it is. DK’s LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary exclusive minifigure is none other than the Yellow Lantern Batman.

As revealed by Amazon France, the exclusive minifigure for the Visual Dictionary is Batman with the power of a Yellow Lantern. This version of the otherwise heroic character appeared in the DC Comics line-wide crossover Forever Evil (issue 4), as a member of the Sinsetro Corps. Batman’s hero schtick may have been to put fear in the hearts of evildoers, but this is too extreme. Of course it doesn’t last.

The LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary from DK Publishing comes out on September 4. This hardcover volume is priced at$21.99 and is also listed on Amazon US for pre-order. LEGO “Harry Potter” Activity Book from Scholastic to Include Harry Minifigure

Early last May, we covered the listing, on Amazon, of several LEGO activity books from famous publishing label Scholastic. Two are based on LEGO franchises and are expected to come out this August. One book is based on iconic Scholastic-published book series Harry Potter, and will become available in December.

Each of these activity books also has the usual free included minifigure, although during their initial Amazon listing the spaces on the book covers where the figs were featured appeared blank. Now at least, we have an idea what the Harry Potter Scholastic activity book will pack with each copy.

As can be seen on the cover picture, the included LEGO minifigure with the Harry Potter Activity Book is, well, the Boy Who Lived himself. This minifig version of Harry is wearing the Hogwarts uniform sweater that became more familiar in later films than the robes from the earlier ones.

If that Harry Potter figure looked familiar to our readers, that’s because it’s apparently the same figure that is part and parcel of the massive Hogwarts Great Hall (75954) set that’s due to come out this August. You can see him in the set photo below, dueling with Draco Malfoy.

In a way, if a LEGO Harry Potter collector is interested in a new variation of the Harry minifigure, but is loath to buy a big honking set for it, then Scholastic’s LEGO Harry Potter Activity Book is a cheaper alternative. Watch out for it on December 26, 2018.

New LEGO Books Featuring The LEGO Movie 2, Harry Potter, Ninjago and Unikitty Listed Via Amazon

If you’re into hunting LEGO-themed books for all the freebies that goes along with them, then you’ll be glad to know that Amazon has listed several new, LEGO books from Scholastic. They may not be that exclusive such as those that are usually released by DK publishing, but one particular title on this list may hold such promise.

For starters, their release date is still quite far off with some of them slated to be released in August and December as listed by Amazon. Let’s see what these are.

LEGO Ninjago Activity Book

I have to say that these books may really not have any exclusive minifigs bundled with them, except probably that from the LEGO Movie 2. We’ll keep you posted if anything new comes up so be sure to keep tabs with us here on the Brick Show.

Check Out These Latest LEGO Training Manuals From Scholastic

It seems that there are still plenty of LEGO themed books to watch out for this second half of the year. Other than the impressive collection offered by DK that comes with exclusive, free LEGO sets and minifigures, children’s book publisher, Scholastic, also has something to offer worth looking into.

It may not really fall under that ‘exclusive’ category such as those offered by DK, but still, any free LEGO is something worth catching. In this case, for those who are still missing the DC Comics version of Aquaman as found in Arctic Batman vs Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice (76000), Black Manta Deep Sea Strike (76027), and LEGO Dimensions Aquaman Fun Pack (71237), then this is your chance to add him to your collection without breaking the bank. Both are now listed for pre-order at Amazon so better take advantage of their relatively low price as it is currently available.

Rumor: Is The Next LEGO DK Exclusive a Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) Minifigure?

If you recall, we featured one particular LEGO book to watch out for this year if you are a DC Super Heroes fan. After the recent reveal of the LEGO Disney Princess: Build Your Own Adventure and the LEGO Ninjago Build Your Own Adventure Greatest Ninja Battles, it looks like Dorling Kindersley (DK) is on a roll with yet another LEGO book that may come with an exclusive collectible minifigure.

We already know most of the details regarding the LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary, however, the exclusive mystery minifigure that goes along with it is still kept under wraps until its September 4 release date.

Like any other LEGO and DK books, this exclusive minifig offer is often times the main selling point for these books. Historically, this DK collection of LEGO DC Super Heroes books comes with several interesting minifigures that you’ll never find in any LEGO set. Some of these were last year’s LEGO New 52 Wonder Woman minifigure; Pirate Batman from 2016’s LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Character Encyclopedia; and the Green Lantern (John Stewart) minifigure found in DK’s LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Build Your Own Adventure released last year.

This time around, a rumor circulating around LEGO fan forums may suggest that we might have another Green Lantern as our next, exclusive LEGO-DK minifig. The DC heroine, Jessica Cruz is said to be the next Lantern to be rendered as a LEGO minifigure, and speculations about this became closer to reality when a particular eBay listing revealed how this LEGO Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) might look like.

From the looks of it, this particular minifig seems to be 100% LEGO authentic. It comes with a dual sided face, with Jessica’s signature eye print which is spot on. The choice of hair accessory is pretty accurate and comes close to how DC comics portrayed her. The torso is pretty detailed both in front and back sides. I really can’t figure out if the legs are dual molded, but probably I’m inclined to think that it might be printed, which is still quite nice and accurate actually.

Now just a disclaimer: Even though this LEGO Green Lantern (Jessica Cruz) minifigure seems to be genuine, the eBay listing did not describe in detail where this minifig came from, so its better to take this rumor with a pinch of salt until such time that we actually get confirmation if, indeed this is our next DK exclusive.

DK LEGO Ninjago Build Your Own Adventure Greatest Ninja Battles Set Revealed

After the reveal of Cinderella’s Carriage as the LEGO set included with DK’s very first LEGO Disney Princess: Build Your Own Adventure, it looks like we finally know what our next buildable set coming from this book series. Amazon has currently listed a new DK LEGO Ninjago Build Your Own Adventure book, dubbed as the Greatest Ninja Battles. This next DK offering like before, features an exclusive LEGO Ninjago buildable vehicle – Nya’s Hover Bike.

Nya’s Hover Bike is an amphibious vehicle that converts from a speeding bike to a hover craft that can travel over water. It is equipped with two stud shooters in front, and looks pretty cool when it is in its speeder bike form particularly the use of transclear blue wheel pieces – it reminds me of LEGO Ideas TRON actually. The Hover Bike also comes with what seems to be a new torso of Nya.

New LEGO Disney Princess: Build Your Own Adventure Book Now Available for Pre-Order at Amazon

Fans of the LEGO Disney Princess theme has something to look forward to this year as another DK Build Your Own Adventure book appears online. We already knew that a new LEGO Ninjago Build Your Own Adventure book will also be released this year, and this time we will also be having another DK tie-up book featuring a new build.

DK Introduces New LEGO Children’s Book Written in Braille

Dorling Kindersley, DK for short, is on a roll with all these LEGO books they’re churning out for this year. They got volumes tying in to Star Wars, DC Comics and their own Ninjago line. And now, DK is publishing a very special volume, catering to the visually-impaired LEGO fans.

Presenting: the DK Braille: LEGO Duplo – Farm. This is being touted as the first LEGO book of its kind, with its contents written in braille, the writing system for visually impaired readers. LEGO and DK consulted with experts on the field to create this simple book describing a typical farm.

LEGO Star Wars Solo Imperial TIE Fighter (30381) Polybag Arriving Soon

It looks like we’re getting another polybag anytime soon. Though I have to admit that I may not be that excited for this one as compared to the prospect of landing on a LEGO Marvel Guardians’ Ship (30525) polybag, I’m still looking forward on grabbing this one. Rebel Scum has shared the news that a new LEGO Star Wars Solo Imperial TIE Fighter (30381) polybag may hit stores next month, coinciding with the release of its larger LEGO Star Wars Solo cousins.

It has been customary for LEGO to also offer miniature replica of its larger sets each time a particular theme is released – we have the likes of the LEGO Ninjago Movie’s Ice Tank (30427), the LEGO Marvel Royal Talon Fighter (30450), and the most recent LEGO Marvel Infinity War The Guardians’ Ship (30525) just to name a few. The LEGO Star Wars Solo Imperial TIE Fighter (30381) comes in at 42 pieces and will retail approximately for $3.99 USD.

We haven’t received any updates yet on when and where this latest polybag might be found, but some have been suggesting an April 20 (tentatively) release date, alongside with the official release of the LEGO Star Han Solo sets.
