LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) Officially Revealed

LEGO gave us a glimpse of things to come at this year’s Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, and if you recall from last week, we can expect two sets coming from the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man franchise. And this time around, LEGO Shop@Home has finally unveiled the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163), slated to be released on March 1st.

Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163)

The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) comes in at 413 pieces and features Spider-Man, Iron Venom, and Carnage in their minifigure forms. The Iron Venom is the first minifigure of its kind, perhaps as a reference to the Invincible Iron Man #5 comics released in 2017. While this set also features our third Carnage minifigure following 2015’s Carnage’s SHIELD Sky Attack (76036), and last year’s Spider-Man Bike Rescue (76113).

Here’s the official product description for the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) which will retail for $29.99

More 2020 LEGO Marvel Superheroes Sets Rumored to Arrive This Year

We caught a glimpse of things to come for LEGO’s licensed sets during the recently concluded Nuremberg Toy Fair. And for those of you who were following this news, it was pretty obvious that LEGO is putting a tight lid on some of these licensed sets until such time their respective embargos are lifted. However, news along the grapevine suggests that there is still more to expect from LEGO’s licensed themes, particularly from its 2020 LEGO Marvel Superheroes.

LEGO Marvel Eternals

According to a report from Promobricks, we can still expect a handful of LEGO Marvel sets that are based on new subthemes or titles. We already know that a LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) is coming out in March as a tie-in set for the upcoming Black Widow spin-off MCU film, and for the second half of 2020, we will also be seeing another round of MCU-inspired sets in the form of the LEGO Marvel Eternals sets. Specifically, we can expect four (4) sets for this subtheme somewhat similar to how LEGO released tie-in sets for the Spider-Man: Far From Home film. As of now, we only know of the price of the small set, 76145, under this Marvel subtheme which is expected to retail for 9.99 Euro. We’re looking for a release date sometime in October, or earlier during the second half of this year, just in time for the marketing campaign for the film which will land in theaters in November.

2020 LEGO Marvel
MCU’s Eternals will also get the LEGO treatment, with four LEGO Marvel sets slated to be released.
LEGO Marvel Spider-Man

Other than the LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) whose images were recently found in LEGO servers, only to be removed afterward, we can look forward to another LEGO Spidey set to follow soon. A LEGO Marvel Spider-Man vs Venom (76151) is also expected to arrive, focusing more on the web crawler’s titular symbiote nemesis. This development is exciting at many levels because other than putting the spotlight on Venom as a LEGO set, it further confirms the eventual cinematic crossover of MCU’s Spider-Man to that of Sony’s version of Venom. The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man vs Venom (76151) set is described to feature a large brick-built black mech lizard and a smaller vehicle with shooters. The black mech lizard is obviously the centerpiece of this set akin to the Venom Crawler. However, fans will be excited to know that other than the Spider-Man, Venom, and Iron-Spider minifigures included in this set, this will be our first-ever set to feature a Spider-Ham minifigure. That certainly is interesting.

2020 LEGO Marvel
The LEGO Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163) is slated to arrive this March.
LEGO Marvel Avengers

Loki is returning to the LEGO limelight with a new set dedicated to the mischievous Norse god. The LEGO Marvel Wrath of Loki (76152) is expected to be a substantially large 4+ set that features an Avenger Tower, a small Quinjet, and a green aircraft for Loki and five minifigures: Loki, Hulk, Thor, Iron Man, and Captain Marvel.

S.H.I.E.L.D.’s Helicarrier will also be returning in LEGO form this 2020, though in a smaller version. Tagged as set 76153, it is expected to retail for 120 Euros, significantly smaller to that of 2015’s The SHIELD Hellicarrier (76042) which retailed for $350. However, this newer version of the Hellicarrier packs a lot of minifigs, including Iron Man, Thor, Captain Marvel, Black Widow, Nick Fury, War Machine and a SHIELD Agent. War Machne is said to have a new shoulder cannon, while another Marvel villain will be coming back in LEGO form – MODOK will be returning in this set, though not in minifigure form as we first saw him in Avengers: Hulk Lab Smash (76018) back in 2014. This newer version of MODOK will be brick-built so its kind of interesting how this will turn out. This newer SHIELD Hellicarrier (76153) will come in a gray and blue color scheme, plus a blue-yellow Quinjet that can land on the Hellicarrier itself.

76018 1
The LEGO Marvel Avengers: Hulk Lab Smash (76018) from 2014 features MODOK’s first-ever LEGO debut.

Other than these two sets, we can also expect three additional Avengers-inspired sets such: a new Hulkbuster (76164) which includes minifigures of Iron Rescue, and two SHIELD Agents; the previously reported Iron Man Bust (76165), and a new and larger Avengers Tower (76165) featuring seven new minifigs: Red Skull, Iron Man, Black Widow, two SHIELD Agents, and two undisclosed villains or superheroes.

To sum it up here’s what we know so far about these 2020 LEGO Marvel Superheroes sets slated to arrive this year.

  • LEGO Marvel Eternals (76145)€9.99 | October 2020 release date
  • LEGO Marvel Eternals (76154)€19.99 | October 2020 release date

A Glimpse At Some of the 2020 LEGO Licensed Sets Revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

More 2020 LEGO licensed sets such as those from the Marvel, Star Wars and Minecraft franchises are on its way this summer. However, LEGO is still strictly putting a lid on most of them at the Nuremberg Toy except for some that visitors are allowed to see.

LEGO Star Wars 2020

As always, upcoming LEGO Star Wars are one of the most tightly guarded licensed themes and only the LEGO Star Wars 2020 Advent Calendar (75279) was revealed during the toy fair, and it is expected to be released sometime in September retailing for €29.99.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2020

Only one LEGO Marvel set was allowed to be seen and this is the first one under the theme. The LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust (76165) is reported to be also bear the 18+ tag similar to the LEGO Architecture The White House (21054). It is expected to retail for €59.99 with an early release in May. I assume that this will be based on MCU’s version of Iron Man, and will somehow larger in scale as compared to the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Bust (75227) which was exclusively released during the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, and at Target stores.

75227 1
It is most likely that the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust will be similar in scale as that of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Bust (75227).
LEGO Minecraft 2020

There will be the LEGO Minecraft Crafting 3.0 (21161) that will be released as the newer version of those that were released in 2014 (set21116) and 2017 (set 21135). It was also mentioned that a LEGO Minecraft Red Stone Battle (21163) set is also in the brick pipelines. There were no other set details that were revealed about these sets and that’s quite a bummer for fans of the LEGO Minecraft theme.

21135 1
Another version the LEGO Minecraft Crafting Box will be released sometime in summer. The image above is from the LEGO Minecraft Crafting Box 2.0 (21135).

I am more interested in how that LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust (76165) will turn out. Being larger as compared to other LEGO busts, I expect greater detail and more realistic design on his helmet and armor especially if it will accommodate the power core on his chest. It’s a fitting tribute to the legacy of Robert Downey Jr’s version of Iron Man as the whole MCU basically started with him. And having a release date this upcoming May will sure to see some official images pop-up anytime soon.

So what do you think about the rest of the sets 2020 LEGO licensed sets that were not exhibited at the toy fair? Are you impressed about them? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks again to Zusammengebaut for this info.

LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) First Images Released!

It’s confirmed – MCU’s spin-off film Black Widow now officially gets the LEGO treatment. Yahoo! has just revealed the LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) featuring what seems to be one of the key scenes that were shown early on its official teaser trailer. This latest MCU-inspired LEGO set is one of the many Black Widow tie-in merchandises that will roll-in the next months leading to the film’s release in May.

Black Widow's Helicopter Chase (76162)

The LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) set comes in at 271 pieces and features a newer minifig version of Black Widow, Yelena Belova, and Taskmaster. Perhaps what is most interesting about this minifigure lineup is the character of Taskmaster. He (or she?) comes with a minifig accessory that features a stealth slash sword that also acts as a shield.

crop taskmaster
The Taskmaster as seen in Disney Marvel’s Black Widow.

Black Widow's Helicopter Chase (76162)

As Yahoo reports, the Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162) will have an early release in Target stores starting March 1, and at Disney Parks in April. It is yet to be seen if this is an exclusive release limited only to these stores and locations, but my best guess is that it will arrive later on at LEGO Shop@Home. We’re not sure also if this is the only set to be offered under this subtheme like what LEGO did with the Captain Marvel and Skrull Attack (76127). As a matter of fact, there’s seems to be no discernable formula on which particular film will get a LEGO tie-in set or two, so we just have to wait and see until Black Widow arrives on the big screen.

Here’s what Yahoo has to say about the Black Widow Helicopter Chase (76162).

Get airborne with a 271-piece Lego set recreating what’s sure to be one of the most explosive action set-pieces in Black Widow. Natasha and Yelena take the fight to Taskmaster aboard the villain’s personal chopper, tricked out with four stud shooters and twin rifles with deadly aim.
Available for $29.99 at Target on March 1 and at Disney Parks in April.

So what do you think about this new LEGO set? How much do you think this  LEGO set will be movie-accurate? Let us know in the comments below.

More Official Images of LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man 2020 Released

A couple of weeks ago, retailers have started releasing wave upon wave of product listings and images for 2020’s LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man sets. This time around, LEGO servers have been updated recently to include better images of some of these sets. Product listings are not available as of press time, but I surmise that it will be available soon.

Noticeably, this new collection of LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man sets features several brick-built mechs and a handful of interesting minifigs that serious collectors will enjoy. We have a new minifigure version of Thanos, a more detailed Iron Man armor, a Spider-Girl Anya Corazon version, and a much-coveted Spider-Man Noir minifig. As I mentioned before, the design builds may not exactly appeal to most adult fans of LEGO, but the minifigures that go with them are a good incentive to get them.

These sets are expected to go live for sale both online and in-store starting January 1st. Be sure to keep tabs with shop.LEGO.com for more product updates later on. In the meantime, check out these better, clearer official images.

LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man 2020 Set Images Released

After the reveal of the first LEGO Marvel set to be released in 2020 in the form of the Avengers Hulk Helicopter Rescue (76144), third-party online retailers are slowly pulling the veil off the rest of the sets in this first wave of LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man 2020 sets. As reported by Promobricks, we can now see that LEGO has added several sets under this theme that seems to be a little bit off tangent as compared to the previous LEGO Avengers: Endgame sets. And since LEGO does not really keep a good track record of making their sets movie-accurate, its a bit hard to tell if these new-for-2020 sets are actually related to the MCU films.

To be completely honest, these new  LEGO Marvel Avengers and Spider-Man 2020 sets maybe sort of underwhelming, except for some of the new minifigures that are offered with them. I bet that most LEGO minifig enthusiasts will be looking forward to that new Thanos minifigure, as well as for those new Spider-Girl Anya Corazon and Spider-Man Noire minifigs. And also from the looks of it, LEGO has thrown in two “4+” sets in this theme, which quite frankly is a bit expensive if I will base it from the Euro pricing as reported.

These images are still not the best ones out there but expect this post to be updated as soon as more crisp, official images are released by LEGO. Promobricks further mentions that these sets will be released sometime in February, but let’s see if these will be a part of LEGO’s January 2020 releases.

The Future of LEGO Marvel Is Here – Huge Reveals at the Marvel Studios Panel at SDCC 2019

The best is still yet to come and with a deep breath, Marvel Studio’s panel at San Diego Comic-Con has unveiled the future of the film franchise for what has been dubbed as Phase 4 of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There have been rumors in the past on what these post-Endgame films will be and with Spider-Man: Far From Home officially closing MCU’s Phase 3, the stage is now set for the announcement of the next wave of superhero films that will also point us to the direction towards the future of LEGO Marvel sets.

LEGO Marvel

Right off the bat, MCU top brass Kevin Feige took the stage of SDCC’s Hall H to announce a handful of MCU films and TV shows that will define Marvel Studio’s Phase 4. And with the partnership between Disney and LEGO going on a full swing, it is safe to assume that we will also be seeing a lot of new LEGO sets and interesting minifigure characters centered on the LEGO Marvel theme.

Untitled 1
The entire (announced) scope of MCU’s Phase 4 in full view at SDCC 2019. What LEGO Marvel sets will come out of this?

First in our list following a chronological order is the origin movie spin-off of Black Widow. This is the solo movie of Natasha Romanoff focusing on her backstory on how she became the Avenger’s top covert secret ops operative. It is not a longshot to consider that LEGO has also something in the works, that may perhaps be a call back to that Budapest mission that she and Hawkeye are fond of remembering. Black Widow is slated to be released on May 1, 2020.

Up next is The Eternals which is a star-studded cast headed by Salma Hayek, Angelina Jolie, and Richard Madden among others. It was also rumored that Keanu Reeves will also appear in the film, though he never made an appearance at the MCU Panel at that time. The Eternals will explore the cosmic side of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, which also shows potential for a new line of exciting minifigures which we will see before the film hit theaters on November 6, 2020.

After the arrival of the Eternals, we will have our first Asian-led MCU film in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings. We will see the return of the Mandarin – the real, sinister one rather than the proxy that we saw in Iron Man 3 – which will play as the film’s major villain. If you recall back in 2013, LEGO has released a small set, the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Iron Man vs. The Mandarin: Ultimate Showdown (76008) so hopefully, we will see the Ten Ring leader have a minifigure reboot. Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings will arrive in theaters February 12, 2021.

Kevin Feige confirmed that the Sorcerer Supreme will be back following the events of Endgame, and will now delve on the dark side of MCU’s multiverse. Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is said to be Marvel Studio’s take on the horrific, dark version of the multiverse which was formally introduced in the film franchise in Spider-Man: Far From Home. Though this film is teased to be part of a sort of horror genre of the MCU, I’m sure that Disney will have this toned down a bit and LEGO will offer another Doctor Strange set following 2016’s LEGO Marvel Superheroes Doctor Strange’s Sanctum Sanctorum (76060) and the more recent LEGO Marvel Superheroes Sanctum Sanctorum Showdown (76108). Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will be conjuring its spells on May 7, 2021.

And the final confirmed film in MCU’s Phase 4 will see the return of the god of thunder himself, a most unlikely love triangle, and another Worthy fitting of Mjolnir’s allegiance. In Thor: Love and Thunder, we will see the rise of Thor’s love interest Jane Foster as the new wielder of the mystical hammer to become the female Thor. It will be interesting to see how LEGO will render Jane Foster in battle-ready, Asgardian armor and what particular scene will it recreate in LEGO form. 2017 saw two LEGO sets inspired by the events in Thor: RagnarokThe Ultimate Battle for Asgard (76084) and Thor vs Hulk: Arena Clash (76088) – so we hope to see another pair of LEGO Marvel sets before Thor: Love and Thunder arrives in theaters on November 5, 2021.

Finally, SDCC attendees were given a glimpse of more things to come with the announcement of the very first Marvel film reboot. Blade was formally welcomed in the MCU with actor Mahershala Ali playing the role of the lethal Daywalker. Furthermore, Feige also confirmed the arrival of the previously Fox-owned Marvel title, Fantastic Four. It is interesting to see how Disney and LEGO will collaborate on a set focusing on the vampire hunter, though I’m pretty sure that this will be a bit toned down as well given the violent theme of the Wesley Snipes era of previous Blade films. Nevertheless, it is a long time coming for a Blade minifigure and LEGO Marvel fans will surely welcome it. A LEGO set revolving around the team of the Fantastic Four is also long overdue – just imagine a bunch of minifigures of the Human Torch, the Invisible Girl, Mister Fantastic and a big fig version of The Thing all gathered in a set and you have a winner combo for a collectible LEGO set.

Going forward, it was also announced during the SDCC Marvel Panel that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3, Black Panther 2, and Captain Marvel 2 are in the works together with a handful of new TV shows that will air on the Disney+ streaming service – The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, WandaVision, Loki, What If…?, and Hawkeye just to name those that were revealed. Whether or not these shows will also get the LEGO treatment is still speculative at best, but one thing is certain – this year and the couple of years to come will surely be very busy for our LEGO designers, and a heck exciting for LEGO Marvel fans.

So how do you think the next wave of MCU-inspired LEGO Marvel sets will look like? Let’s talk about it in the comments below.

Base Exterior, Sokovia, South Africa and Washington, D.C. Players can freely roam around these open world locations in any way they’d like, such as super jumping off skyscrapers with Hulk, speed running over water with Quicksilver or even play as giant characters, like the menacing Fing Fang Foom, who can grow to the size of tall buildings.

After Yahoo News released our first batch of official images of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127), additional images of this upcoming set are now uploaded via LEGO’s servers. We can now see in close detail the features of this MCU tie-in set. The most noticeable build in this set features an older version of the Quinjet in the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coming in at 307 pieces, the Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) set also comes with various play features such as a pair of flick-missile shooters which can shoot 4 projectiles at once, and an opening hatch at the back of the Quinjet. It is also our first LEGO Marvel Superheroes set that features the minifigure versions of Captain Marvel, including Skrull baddie, Talos, a younger version of Nick Fury, and Captain Marvel’s (aka Carol Danvers) pet cat Goose.

I know some fans are not really that happy on how this set turned out- with some citing the design of the Quinjet as somewhat bland and uninspiring. However, having Captain Marvel in her first minifigure form is good enough reason to purchase this set.
