September 2022 LEGO Advent Calendars and More – Set Launch Recap

With September 2022 rolling in this past Thursday, another wave of new sets from LEGO have been launched. Fitting for ushering in the last few months before the Holiday season, several advent calendars became available September 1. According to further details from Brickset, LEGO Marvel also debuted multiple entries this time with more buildable figure sets. The big guns among the new releases would be the newest LEGO Ideas set and Harry Potter’s Hogwarts Express (76405). On the tinier end, LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 23 became available as well. We can be sure the Holiday-themed products will only increase as 2022 winds down. But for now, let’s summarize the launches:

LEGO Con 2022: LEGO CMF Series 23 (71034) Coming in September

We’re still on that LEGO Con 2022 reveal review. We’ve already looked at several major set releases from last weekend. Perhaps it’s time we spotlighted the small stuff: multiple, little-humanoid small stuff. Indeed, LEGO Con also unveiled the latest batch of collectible minifigures. They’re all-original LEGO characters following the May launch of The Muppets (71033). As confirmed by The Brick Fan, minifigure collectors can look forward to LEGO CMF Series 23 (71034) months from now. Like other batches, this series consists of 12 minifigures. And as usual with LEGO’s CMF Series, these minifigs are far out.

Looking at the official product listing on LEGO.com, you’ll find only 3 of the 12 minifigures revealed. Luckily the LEGO Con page features the fully-visible ensemble of Collectible Minifigures Series 23 (71034). LEGO’s giving us their quirkiest minifig ensemble, from robot girls to turkey costumes to nutcrackers and sugar-plum fairies. Expect these little guys to be available in their polybags (usual price) starting in December.

The month of May is still not over and it looks like the latest LEGO CMF series is having a huge following already. So much so that stocks for the LEGO Muppets Minifigures have proven to be quite elusive, even over at LEGO.com.

As you may already know, this latest series of Collectible Minifigures from LEGO pays tribute to Jim Henson’s Muppet Show, with 12 characters from the hit 70s TV show finally given the LEGO CMF treatment. Those who grew up in the late 70s and 80s surely understand the nostalgic value that these characters have, and is a great way to celebrate the life and legacy of their creator, Jim Henson.  And coupled with another similarly inspired set in the form of the LEGO Ideas 123 Sesame Street, these collectibles certainly bring back fond childhood memories.

LEGO Muppets Collectible Minifigures (71033) Officially Listed, Coming May 1

Collectors will never be unexcited by a new batch of LEGO Collectible Minifigures (CMFs). Beyond just populating LEGO play-sets, the minifigs themselves can show lots of character, especially if they’re part of a theme. Case in point, CMF aficionados have been on tenterhooks waiting for the LEGO Muppets Collectible Minifigures (71033). We’ve caught wind of rumors to that effect in October last year. The sweet roster of Muppet characters to be depicted there was too good to pass up. And now, LEGO has definitively confirmed its latest collectible minifigure series with an official product listing.

LEGO.com finally listed the new LEGO The Muppets Minifigures (71033), and “finally” needs to be stressed, given that other stores and online retailers have been offering the batch for weeks now. Such as what we’re offering right now at our storefront, The Brick Show Shop.

And even then, LEGO isn’t “officially” launching the new CMFs until the first of May. It’s up to collectors if they’re willing to wait or not. The LEGO Muppet CMFs look as awesome as advertised, with all those unique Muppet-accurate heads. Check these out.

And in case you want to take a look, we have these minifigures versions from The Muppet Show available over at The Brick Show. I’ve updated the links below in case you want to bring home any of the specific characters in these series and save yourself time in feeling each blind bag.

UK-Euro “LEGO Star Wars” Mag March 2022 Issue Offers Free Clone Trooper Minifig

Back in 2020, LEGO Star Wars released a set said to be the most fan-requested at the time. It was a set depicting the Clone War-era 501st Legion Clone Troopers (75280). It featured four Republic Clone Troopers with two of their vehicles, squaring off against two Separatist Battle Droids. The 501st Legion happens to share its number-name with the global “Star Wars” fan club/organization of Imperial Stormtrooper/variant enactors. That would explain the fan appeal somewhat. Clone Trooper minifigures in 501st colors are also uncommon enough. But now, those looking for 501st Clones beyond just buying set 75280 may have an alternative from Europe’s LEGO magazines.

According to Brick Fanatics, Clone Trooper minifig collectors must mark the March 2022 issue of UK-Europe’s “LEGO Star Wars Magazine.” Issue 81 of this official LEGO publication by Immediate Media will include a 501st Legion Clone Trooper minifigure. It’s the same minifig as included in the Clone Troopers set (75280) two years ago. If the £24.99/€29.99 asking price of the set is too much for UK/European collectors, the magazine’s somewhat cheaper. Three copies of the upcoming March issue (£4.25/€4.50) would run to only £12.75/€13.50. True, you miss out on the set’s vehicles (and one Clone Jet Trooper). but if you only need the minifigures then it’s fair enough come March.

75280 Front 03

Immediate Media publishes official LEGO magazines monthly in UK and Europe. The latter gets new issues a month ahead of the UK. So the March issue of “LEGO Star Wars Magazine” in the UK actually releases February in European newsstands. The current UK issue has a free Imperial Snowtrooper. Meanwhile the current release in Europe includes a micro-Millennium Falcon build.

LEGO CMF Series 22 (71032) Now Listed for January 1

Way back in October, we got wind of one of the earliest 2022 LEGO set rumors in CMF form. This was the LEGO Collectible Minifigure Series 22, numbered 71032. This CMF batch follows a LEGO Marvel Series (71031) and consists of LEGO-original minifig characters. We at The Brick Show got our first details on this LEGO CMF series from Germany’s Promobricks. Understandably, some of the names they gave for the included characters got translated differently from the official English designations. Thankfully, CMF Series 22 (71032) is now officially listed on LEGO.com so we know their names. Let’s go over them, with accompanying pictures and all, thanks to The Brick Fan:

“LEGO DC Character Encyclopedia New Edition” Features Free Exclusive Val-Zod Superman Minifigure

LEGO visual encyclopedias produced by UK publisher DK tend to release new editions every few years. That’s only natural. LEGO constantly releases new sets and minifigure characters that need referencing sooner or later. So why bother buying new volumes of the technically the same LEGO books? How about the exclusive minifigs you get from the cover? In the case of DK’s LEGO DC Visual Dictionary/Character Encyclopedia, their exclusives tend to be uncommon DC characters. Said characters tend to be variants of well-established DC superheroes. The upcoming LEGO DC Character Encyclopedia – New Edition is no exception. What a deep comic-book cut their exclusive cover minifigure is.

91T3e5upvCL

According to Brick Fanatics, buyers of the new LEGO DC Character Encyclopedia from DK can get a rare Val-Zod minifig. In simple terms, Val-Zod is Superman in DC Comics’ Earth-2 continuity. For a more detailed explanation, this is Earth-2 as established in DC’s “New 52” franchise revamp/”reboot” in 2011. Val-Zod is another Kryptonian survivor: an orphan cared for by Jor-El and a friend of Kara Zor-El (Supergirl). He is of the same family as classic Superman foe General Zod, but explaining that will take too much time. But don’t worry. Val-Zod earned being called Superman.

The minifigure’s design capture’s Val-Zod’s most iconic looks as bearer of the Superman title in his Earth-2 continuity. One reason for him getting a LEGO minifig might be early franchise promotion. You see, HBO Max is developing a streaming series about Val-Zod. As for the LEGO DC Character Encyclopedia – New Edition, it’s priced at $21.99 and due to release in May next year. Amazon preorders are now available.

Rumor of LEGO Muppets CMF Series (71033) for 2022

Trying to guess what LEGO stuff to expect next year, can be rather fun. That goes double for when you at least know the product number, and just speculate on the contents. Last week we touched on the rumors regarding LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 22 (71032). These contain original LEGO minifig characters, but the licensed-IP series are great too. This year we had such neat batches like Looney Tunes and Marvel (from Disney+ MCU series). It should just be the right time for rumors regarding a licensed-IP CMF series to surface. Kind of like this one courtesy of Brick Fanatics.

Speculation on a possible LEGO Muppets collectible minifigure series have been circulating since September. Now however, the alleged CMF series just got its possible product number – 71033. Yep, that immediately follows the original-LEGO CMF series 22 (71032). LEGO’s supposed to release the Muppets minifig series on May 2022. They’re supposed to have the same price-per-minifig as Looney Tunes (71030) and Marvel (71031). But which Muppet characters make the CMF cut? We got this rumored list:

  • Animal
  • Beaker
  • Dr. Bunsen Honeydew
  • Fozzie Bear
  • Gonzo
  • Janice
  • Kermit the Frog
  • Miss Piggy
  • Rowlf the Dog
  • Statler
  • Swedish Chef
  • Waldorf

There you have it: the 12 minifigs for the alleged LEGO Muppets CMF (71032). Note that the information provided are just rumors, to be taken with that grain of salt until LEGO speaks up.
