A Look At the Exclusive LEGO DC Super Heroes Lex Luthor (30614) Minifigure Polybag

WB Games and LEGO has already launched its next anticipated video game the LEGO DC Super Villains and it’s no secret, like other LEGO video game titles before it, that this latest video game offering will also come with a free minifigure collectible. The exclusive LEGO DC Super Heroes Lex Luthor (30614) minifigure polybag features an alternate version of Lex Luthor based on DC Comics’ Rebirth where he is seen wearing a Superman-styled armor. Poland-based Ebay seller klocego1 has listed the said exclusive minifigure, and we now have our first look at its respective polybag. This minifig rendition of Lex Luthor is a promotional LEGO polybag that will go together with the game’s Deluxe Version slated to be released on October 16.

30614

If memory serves me right, this is the very first minifigure to feature this kind of print either for Lex Luthor or Superman so this is not just a rehash of some old minifig design. I like the blue and red color combination on this one, with fine details on the front and back side of the minifig and additional leg printing. The flesh tone head piece is the only one I think is refurbished from an existing Lex Luthor minifig, specifically the one found in Lex Luthor Mech Takedown (76097).

30614 01

The LEGO DC Super Villains video game is now available for pre-order via Amazon and will be rolled out across major gaming platforms (Playstation, Xbox, Switch, and PC) on October 16. Other than the exclusive LEGO DC Super Heroes Lex Luthor (30614) minifigure, the physical version of the Deluxe Edition of the game will also include its respective Season Pass and early access to the DC Super Villains: TV Series DLC Character Pack. Those who will opt for the digital version of the Deluxe Edition will have access to the Justice League Dark DLC Character Pack instead.

DK’s LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary Exclusive Minifigure Is The Yellow Lantern Batman

It’s the start of a new month, and it’s usually the best time for LEGO to make new revelations on what products they’ve teased earlier in the year. For instance, back in February, they previewed several new books on original LEGO themes and licensed franchises courtesy of Dorling Kindersley (DK). One of the books featured then was the LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary. And like many LEGO books, this one has an exclusive minifigure on the cover and we finally know what it is. DK’s LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary exclusive minifigure is none other than the Yellow Lantern Batman.

As revealed by Amazon France, the exclusive minifigure for the Visual Dictionary is Batman with the power of a Yellow Lantern. This version of the otherwise heroic character appeared in the DC Comics line-wide crossover Forever Evil (issue 4), as a member of the Sinsetro Corps. Batman’s hero schtick may have been to put fear in the hearts of evildoers, but this is too extreme. Of course it doesn’t last.

The LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary from DK Publishing comes out on September 4. This hardcover volume is priced at$21.99 and is also listed on Amazon US for pre-order. One can avail of the Amazon Pre-Order Price Guarantee to ensure that any price changes for the lower when the book is released means only the lowest price will be paid.

“The LEGO Movie: The Second Part” Exclusive Minifigure at SDCC 2018

Early this June, we finally got our first good look at the highly anticipated (for four years) direct sequel to 2014’s The LEGO Movie. Subtitled The Second Part, it looks to reunite the ensemble cast from the original, minifigure characters who are also master builders all, for another zany adventure. Following that initial burst of trailer plus promotion, things have quieted down a bit (after all, The LEGO Movie: The Second Part is premiering on February next year). But now those who would like a little memento for that upcoming sequel might want to make plans for the 2018 SDCC.

This year, three special SDCC LEGO minifigures are up for grabs. First two are a Marvel and DC character (that’s a tradition, it being a comic con and all), and the third is a minifigure character from The LEGO Movie: The Second Part. They haven’t revealed who it is, though.

It’s easy to see why LEGO exclusive minifigures for the SDCC are highly valued. Rather than polybags, they’re packaged like action figures (blister pack with backing card). The limited numbers (single-digit thousands on average) also lends to the rareness factor.

Prospective recipients need to physically attend the Comic Con, register online for a giveaway timeslot, then join the physical lottery draw at the event itself. The SDCC runs for four days, so expect those exclusive minifigure giveaways to be spaced out through the entire schedule. Good luck to you if you’re at the 2018 SDCC from July 19 to 22.

Here’s What’s Up for Grabs at the LEGO Booth In SDCC 2018

It’s no secret that LEGO always had a strong presence during the yearly San Diego Comic-Con, and for this year, it looks like Comic-Con attendees have another wave of exclusive LEGO merchandise to watch out for. The SDCC 2018 Exclusives Portal is now live and we can now have a glimpse of what cool, exclusive merchandise will be up for grabs at the LEGO Booth.

lego sdcc exclusive

As we can see from the screenshot image above courtesy of The Brick Fan, LEGO will have the following collectibles on sale at SDCC 2018 during the following time slots.

July 20, 2018 (10AM-12PM PDT) – LEGO DC Exclusive Minifigure (4 pieces)

July 21, 2018 (10AM-12PM PDT) – LEGO Exclusive Marvel Minifigure (5 pieces)

July 21, 2018 (1:30PM-3:30 PM PDT) – LEGO Marvel Exclusive Set (218 pieces)

July 22, 2018 (10AM-12PM PDT) – LEGO Movie 2 Minifigure Exclusive

LEGO SDCC exclusive minifigures are standard fare during this yearly convention, but what interest me the most is the exclusive 218-piece LEGO Marvel SDCC set, and the still to be revealed LEGO Movie 2 minifigure. I’m also thinking on how LEGO will manage to sell the limited quantities of the uber cool LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set which I’m pretty sure will be sold out in a very, very short time. Stay tuned for more updates on these LEGO SDCC 2018 exclusive. These are exciting times indeed.

LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) Polybag Promotional Revealed

British LEGO fan site Brick Fanatics was present during the UK launch of the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets earlier today, to have a firsthand look at what these exciting sets have to offer. Other than the awesome sets on display, one piece of surprise that LEGO also revealed during the launch event is a new polybag which is reported to be an upcoming promotional tie-in with the Wizarding World sets. The LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) polybag is a little set that shows Harry as he begins his wizarding adventures aboard Platform 9 ¾ as seen in the first film of the franchise, The Sorcerer’s Stone.

LEGO Harry Potter 30407 Harrys Journey to Hogwarts 3

This polybag features Harry in his Hogwarts uniform (though I feel this is not entirely accurate if you will consider the timeline of the events in the film – he is not yet wearing his uniform in that particular scene), some of his luggage and including his trusted owl, Hedwig. This is a great and cheap way to have Harry and Hedwig’s minifigures either on their own, or as an additional set to add to the Hogwarts Express (75955) set.

There’s no exact date on when this promotional LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) polybag will be offered, but it safe to guess that it will also launch sometime in July once the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets go live.

Thanks to Brick Fanatics once again for sharing this image.

The LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) Set Officially Revealed

Our long wait is finally over! LEGO has pulled the veil from one of its closely guarded secrets, one that I followed very closely since the time that it was submitted as an early LEGO Ideas project. For the first time ever, we now have our first look at the biggest, buildable LEGO mech ever: the LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set. Designed by LEGO AFOL extraordinaire, Lendy Tayag from the Philippines, the LEGO Ideas Voltron is inspired by the original 1980s animated Voltron TV series, and the modern DreamWorks Voltron: Legendary Defender series. When completely assembled, this iconic brick-built mech stands a staggering 15 inches tall and 8 inches wide.

As an added treat to AFOLs and fans of the animated series, LEGO has announced that a limited number of sets will be available for purchase during next month’s San Diego Comic Con. The 2,321-piece set will retail for $179.99 and will be available to the general public on August 1, with early VIP access beginning July 23, 2018.

I have so much to say about the LEGO Ideas Voltron (21311) set since I am a fan of Voltron, and of course, of Lendy himself. I had the privilege of meeting him for the first time during the Philippines’ biggest LEGO fan convention sponsored by the Philippine LEGO Users Group (PhLUG), and it was one unforgettable experience. I’ll share more about this convention in my next write-up, but for now let us enjoy these crisp, clear images followed by the set’s official product description. This is one set that I will not miss.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Mech VS. Poison Ivy Mech (76117) Revealed

Earlier today, LEGO has announced a new DC Comics-inspired set which will debut at San Diego Comic Con slated for next month. It has been part of LEGO’s tradition to reveal a superhero-inspired set during the yearly SDCC, and the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Mech VS. Poison Ivy Mech (76117) is our first set to premiere exclusively at the famed comic book convention. However, be aware that this particular LEGO set 76117 and SDCC exclusive, will only be available for purchase after six months, and will retail for $39.99 coming in at 375 pieces.

LEGO SDCC 2018 Batman vs Ivy

The LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Mech vs. Poison Ivy Mech (76117) features two battle mech builds that speaks well of the characters that pilot them. The Batman Mech comes in as minifigure scaled build, equipped with an array of armaments typical from the Dark Knight. The Poison Ivy Mech comes in as a smaller build with posable branch arms equipped with stud shooters. The set also includes four minifigures: Batman, Poison Ivy, The Flash and a new Firefly minifig. Though the other 3 LEGO DC Comics minifigures were already included in past LEGO sets, it is interesting to note that they all come with variations for this newer one. Perhaps the most noticeable is the new minifigure of The Flash which now comes with dual-molded legs.

Official Images and Description of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) Now Up

LEGO Shop@Home has now updated its listing to include its newest Bluetooth powered set. The LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) is now up at shop.LEGO.com and will retail for $99.99. Other than the exclusive Batman minifigure, the main takeway for this set is LEGO’s new Bluetooth hub and motors that are part the LEGO Powered Up line. The build itself can be controlled by the LEGO Powered Up app that can be downloaded and installed in any compatible Android and Apple mobile devices. It is expected that LEGO will soon incorporate this technology in more LEGO sets, with the Bluetooth hub and motors offering a more versatile play experience.

Though I am excited to see the many potential behind a motorized LEGO set, I feel that there is still room for improvement in designing this particular rendition of the Batmobile. I prefer my batride to be sleeker and a bit low, rather than being too bulky like this one. In any case, this is something that any true-blue LEGO fan can remedy. Here’s the rest of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes App-Controlled Batmobile (76112) official images, including its corresponding product description.

Another LEGO SDCC 2018 Exclusive: Aquaman and Storm (75996)

Following yesterday’s reveal of LEGO’s SDCC 2018 exclusive, Millennium Falcon Cockpit (75512), we now have a second San Diego Comic Con exclusive LEGO set that pays tribute to DC’s Aquaman. This version of the hailed King of Atlantis and Justice League member is based on the classic comic book character which sees him riding together with his faithful seahorse companion, Storm. The LEGO DC Superheroes Aquaman and Storm (75996) comes in 197 pieces that features 4 smaller builds, and an Aquaman minifigure. Same as yesterday’s reveal, this particular set does not contain any special parts or printed pieces. You may even try to build one on your own just by ordering the parts needed over at Bricklink. Furthermore, the Aquaman minifigure is the same as that found on earlier sets like 2013’s Arctic Batman vs Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice (76000), except for the different choice of hairpiece. What convention attendees may find attractive though, is its uniquely designed box packaging which comes with an old-school, classic VHS-type look.

75996 1

75996 2

However, between the Millennium Falcon Cockpit and the Aquaman and Storm (75596) set, I find the latter more attractive. I like the inclusion of the animal-type pieces and Storm’s build is pretty spot on. Again, we have to wait for the details of how convention attendees can get their hands on this next exclusive. Most likely, purchasing this set will be based on a lottery system so as to discourage scalpers to have the better hand.
