More Details on the Rumored 2018 LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure Series.

The rumor mill is running again, and this time with more intel on this year’s LEGO Harry Potter sets. A couple of weeks ago, we reported that five LEGO Harry Potter sets (3 for HP and 2 for Fantastic Beasts, to be more accurate) will be released as part of its summer wave of offerings this August. On top of that, it was also said that these sets will be accompanied by an official LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigure series, which will also be released during the same time period. Thanks to word from some reliable sources over at Eurobricks, we now have a tentative list of possible Harry Potter characters that made their way as part of LEGO’s next CMF series. Here’s what we know so far.

  • Harry Potter – accessories include the Sorting Hat and a cape which could probably be the Cloak of Invisibility.
  • Ron Weasley – accessories include a cape and that Chocolate Frog from the Hogwarts Express scene.
  • Hermione Granger – accessories include cape, magic wand, and book with printing (perhaps her spell book).
  • James Potter – accessories include a Golden Snitch, Broom, and Quidditch ceremonial robes.
  • Lily Potter – accessories include a baby minifigure with a noticeable scar on the forehead, which clearly gives it away as Baby Harry.
  • Fred Weasley – this is what I’m looking forward to, having the Weasley Twins in their CMF form. Fred is said to have a Marauders Map, and some fireworks accessories.
  • George Weasley – no information yet about George’s accessories.
  • Vernon Dursley – all members of the despicable, Dursley family will also be included in the HP CMF. Vernon’s accessories include a rifle or shotgun of some sorts.
  • Petunia Dursley – accessories include a letter, which could probably mean Harry’s Hogwarts Acceptance Letter.
  • Dudley Dursley – this minifig version of the youngest Dursley is said to be wearing pajamas with a printed pig’s tail; it also comes with a cake accessory.
  • Rolanda Hooch – the Quidditch flying instructor also gets her spot as a CMF, coming in with broom and whistle accessories (though I’m not quite sure of the latter). Ms. Hooch also comes with a double-sided minifig head highlighting two distinct expressions.
  • The Bloody Baron – the first of the ghost quartet that haunt each four houses of Hogwarts, we don’t have any information yet and what accessories they will carry on with them. Perhaps it may include a knife accessory, though I feel this will be a little far off considering the back story of the Bloody Baron and the purpose in which he used his knife for.
  • Nearly Headless Nick (Sir Nicholas de Mimsy-Porpington) – this one is a bit hard to imagine, especially when you consider how LEGO will create Nearly Headless Nick in minifigure form while retaining his primary feature, which as his name suggests, is being nearly headless.
  • The Grey Lady (Helena Ravenclaw) – perhaps a diadem accessory will be in order.
  • The Fat Friar – accessories might include a silver or tin mug which he is seen carrying around along the halls of the Hufflepuff house.
  • Myrtle Warren (Moaning Myrtle) – a ghost character translated in minifigure form, accessories include Tom Riddle’s Diary.
  • Sirius Black – Harry’s godfather also made it in the CMF list, coming in with a dog accessory which could be Snuffles, his Animagus form.

There are still 3 unnamed minifigs in this rumored Harry Potter CMF series, so we are still keeping an eye for any signs of them. I’m still hoping for Dobby to make it in the list and possibly a re-release of Severus Snape. I guess we just have to wait and see.

Thanks to The Brick Fan for the heads up.

Here’s Your Chance to Design The Next LEGO Gift With Purchase Set With the LEGO Ideas Moments in Space Contest.

Coming from its successful “Build Your Own LEGO Ideas Logo” contest, the LEGO Ideas Team is back and this time, in search of the first ever, community-inspired, LEGO exclusive Gift With Purchase (GWP) set. It seems that LEGO has finally considered the idea of a fan-designed LEGO GWP ever since the idea was discussed extensively across LEGO fan forums. The announcement has been made over at the LEGO Ideas website, and will eventually follow a classic space theme.

LEGO Ideas Moments in Space

Titled as LEGO Moments in Space, the contest is open to all LEGO fans, ages 13 and above, and will run from January 15 until February 9, 2018 at 6AM EST. Entries should be able to fit on a 16 X 16 stud LEGO baseplate, using around 300 standard LEGO pieces and elements coming from themes such as LEGO City, CMF, and Creator. As the contest title suggests, entries must capture that space exploration or adventure vibe. Entries using LEGO Digital Designer are also accepted.

Of course, what’s a LEGO contest without those sweet, sweet prizes? The Grand Prize winner will have the bragging rights to have his original creation featured as the next LEGO GWP sometime in 2019, a $250 LEGO shopping spree over at shop.LEGO.com, and a collection of past exclusive LEGO GWP sets, including:

5037118 IDEAS Moments in Space Grand Prize

Ten (10) Runner Ups will also be selected and each of them will receive a $125 worth of LEGO shopping spree also on shop.LEGO.com plus the Mini Piggy Bank (40251), Snowglobe (40223) and Christmas Build Up 2017 (40253).

5037123 IDEAS Moments in Space Runner Up

Be sure to check with the LEGO Ideas Moments in Space Contest website for the complete list of rules and guidelines to be observed. I am personally excited to see how this contest will turn out. I’m a fan of some of these smaller, vignette type sets so I am particularly curious how a Space-themed GWP set will turn out. Just be sure to submit your entries on or before the said deadline. Happy building!

LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) Teaser Reveals First Official Image.

LEGO has released its first ‘official’ (aka non-leaked) image of the next LEGO Ideas set slated to be released this January. Released via its social media channels, this fan designed LEGO set from Jacob Sadovich features his original Ship in a Bottle, Flagship Leviathan, which was successfully considered to be an official LEGO Ideas set during the LEGO Ideas Third 2016 Review Stage.

As I mentioned in my previous post, there was a leaked image of 21313 that made its rounds over LEGO fan forums and Instagram which allowed us a first look at the set. I love how the designers recreated the bottle’s overall, streamlined appearance. Its base was thoughtfully recreated as well, and attention to detail was evident on how the cork was made using reddish brown and gold LEGO pieces. However, I expect that the ship’s design will be more faithful to Jacob’s original creation which is more realistic and aesthetically impressive.

The LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313) is expected to be released anytime soon this January, so more official images will be out anytime soon.

New LEGO Batman Movie The Mini Ultimate Batmobile (30526) Polybag Spotted!

This one came out of nowhere, really. Just when you think that LEGO is now getting ready to put TLBM sets inside the vault, now comes a new polybag that I strongly feel will be highly sought after. Just before New Year’s Day, Hoth Bricks managed to acquire an image of the latest TLBM polybag that will be released anytime soon.

The LEGO Batman Movie The Mini Ultimate Batmobile (30526) polybag, as the name suggests, is a smaller replica of the larger Ultimate Batmobile (70917) set released last year.  The cool thing about this polybag version is that it managed to replicate not just the Ultimate Batmobile itself, but also three out of four vehicles that made it up: the Batmobile itself, Bat-Tank, and Bat-Wing. Unfortunately, there is no provision for the Bat-Cycle.

30526

Another difference with this polybag version as compared to its larger sibling is that it only allows you to make each of the vehicle at a time, unlike the larger set which divides into four separate vehicles including the Bat-Cycle. This is somehow expected from a polybag at this scale since it is only slightly larger from The Mini Batmobile (30521) polybag.

30526 01

What I also find particularly interesting is the use of the striking red rims (Front Wheel Casing 3x4x1 2/3 #8 6186110) on this build which can only be found in Lightning McQueen as is seen in the latest LEGO Juniors Cars 3 sets. There is no word yet on when and where this latest TLBM polybag will be released, but I’m sure it will be a popular hit among TLBM fans.

A hat tip once more to Hoth Bricks for sharing this info.

LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) and 120+ New 2018 Sets Now Available at shop.LEGO.com!

Our next modular building – the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) – together with more than 120 news sets are now available at LEGO shop@Home. For those of you who are patiently waiting for the Diner to go live both online and in LEGO brand stores since it was announced last November, then your patience has definitely been rewarded.

10260 1

Consisting of 2,480 pieces, the LEGO Creator Downtown Diner (10260) is the 13th advanced modular building set that comes in the series since 2007. It features a 1950s diner with a pink and teal ‘Streamline Moderne’ styling, together with a gym, recording studio and a pink convertible car. It has six minifigures and retails exclusively at all LEGO stores and at shop.LEGO.com for $169.99. Now that leaves us with only a hotel which is still yet to be included in the modular series. Is set designer Mike Psiaki hinting at what’s next as he drops the question in the Downtown Diner Designer Video? That is really something to look forward to.

Other notable 2018 sets that you might be interested to look at is the latest series of LEGO Star Wars and DC BrickHeadz including Rey (41602) and Kylo Ren (41603), Flash (41598), Wonder Woman (41599), Aquaman (41600) and Cyborg (41601). Each of this collectible retails for $9.99 each, and are part of the first wave of LEGO BrickHeadz for 2018, with a second wave to be released sometime in April.

41489 1

Also probably included in your list of must-haves is the LEGO Batman Movie Collectible Minifigures Series 2, mostly highlighting some of the DC superheroes and baddies in the film. Each blind bag retails for $3.99, and I’m hoping to land on my personal favorites – Tropical Joker and Swimming Pool Batman.

TLBM Series 2 710

Another one that you might be interested in is the LEGO City Mining Experts Site (60188) set which comes in at 883 pieces and featuring the latest train track element first used in the LEGO Batman Movie Joker Manor (70922). The Mining Experts Site (60188) retails for $99.99 and comes with 6 minifigures and a new bear element. This and the rest of the 2018 LEGO City Mining sets are now available across all LEGO stores and online.

60188 1

Finally, LEGO Technic fans will be glad to hear that the exquisitely beautiful Mack Anthem (42078) is now up and listed at shop.LEGO.com. Retailing at $179.99, this huge 2-in-1 set comes in at 2,595 pieces, and also features a unique Mack bulldog hood ornament for that detailed replica of the iconic Mack LR garbage truck.

42078 1

These and a lot more are now available at all LEGO stores, so be sure to drop by your nearest LEGO store and see what you can find, especially if you still have some holiday cash to spend. I know Brian is looking forward to building his LEGO Downtown Diner so perhaps a review is in the works. Stay tuned!

Summer 2018 LEGO Ninjago Set Details Revealed.

Ok, I promise to be a bit moderate with these reveals (aka leaks) for now. After the reveal of the LEGO Ideas Ship in a Bottle (21313), the 2018 Summer LEGO Technic sets, and the uber cool LEGO Creator Roller Coaster (31084), here comes another collection of LEGO sets to watch out for in June, 2018. Frankly, this has been floating around the Internet for quite some time and thanks to various sources, we now have a somewhat better idea of what to expect from the Summer LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu sets next year. Please pardon me for the deliberately horrendous blurred images; but if you’re already in the know, then I’m sure you wouldn’t mind seeing them like this.

Similar to the spinners which are essentially part of the LEGO Ninjago Masters of Spinjitzu theme, LEGO opted to have a rehash of these spinners and give them a dragon master twist. The box art for set numbers 70644 to 70649 seems to suggest that these spinners will somehow include a vertical flying play feature which is kind of cool for a LEGO set. Please take this with a pinch of salt since this is just my observation based on my initial impression on the design of the box art and in keeping up with the dragon storyline with LEGO Ninjago’s Season 9.

It is also interesting to note that the grayed out box for set 70657 is rumored to be another D2C LEGO Ninjago Movie set similar in scale to the grandiose LEGO Ninjago City (70620). Again, these are just speculations given set 70657’s predicted price point, however, things might be different once LEGO gives their official statement. Lastly, bear in mind that these are preliminary titles so chances are LEGO might revise the names of these sets as they see it fit.
