After the Hype, What’s Next for the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon 75192?

If you are one of the many LEGO VIP fans who haven’t had their hands yet on the biggest LEGO set ever made, chances are, the odds of getting it now directly from LEGO or any LEGO brand store is as close to zero – perhaps not until October 1, that is. Since its official VIP launch last Thursday, the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192), even if we’re not half way yet during its VIP release period, is nowhere to be found. And we’re talking not just about on a particular LEGO store or location, but on a worldwide scale including at shop.LEGO.com.

2 sold out 75192

As Rebelscum and Brick Fanatics reports, LEGO Star Wars fans who don’t have the privilege nor the opportunity to participate in LEGO’s exclusive in-store VIP launches such as those in UK’s LEGO Stores in Leicester Square and Brighton, are now struggling, and understandably frustrated, at the seeming lack of preparation and stocks of the Falcon.

lego vipday ldncrowd

A quick browse over at the Falcon’s product page at shop.LEGO.com reveals some criticisms about its unavailability rather than its undoubtedly cool features. The criticisms and rants that LEGO received seems to be focused on the fact that not all VIP members were able to receive automated notifications about the set’s release. It gave the impression that after all the marketing hype surrounding the biggest LEGO set ever made, TLG was unable to sufficiently deliver, stock-wise. Others were frustrated about the apparent confusion caused by varying time zones, and the lack of details on when and how set 75192 will be released to VIP members. Such shortcomings, for some VIP members, are close to unforgivable.

Now, it makes one wonder if LEGO at this point, can really handle the exceptionally high demand for the Falcon (yeah, I was also one of those skeptics who thought that not so many AFOLs will be that willing to shell out $800 on a single, LEGO set – as it turns out, I’m gravely mistaken), especially when it launches to the general public on October 1.  Some of the most avid LEGO fans may even be forced to rely on aftermarket platforms such as eBay. But giving your hard-earned cash to some unscrupulous brick scalper, who will charge a ridiculously inflated price, is simply unacceptable by my standards. Here are a few samples from eBay – just be sure not to cringe in disdain.

Now that the LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) is out of stock, fans are left thinking if the Falcon will also suffer the same fate as that of another insufficiently stocked set, which is the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309). In fairness to LEGO, we know that the company is doing everything it can to ensure that the majority of fans will not end up frustrated. They were kind enough to ensure everyone that more sets are on its way.

75192 1

On Thursday, September 14, the LEGO Group gave its VIP members an opportunity to purchase the LEGO® Star Wars™ Millennium Falcon™. We are thrilled by the positive response to the set, which is the largest we’ve ever released so far. We can assure all our fans around the world, that we are doing everything we can to make more sets available and keep our LEGO builders happy.

By the look of things, it will be wise for LEGO to pay attention to its customers and learn from this week’s VIP release. It will be better, as Rebelscum suggests, if LEGO can provide a sort of Information Page outlining several things that LEGO fans and buyers can expect once the Falcon becomes available to the general public come October 1. LEGO may also opt to be transparent with regards to the amount of sets that will be made available per LEGO store, and reinforcing its shop@home site to ensure that it can handle the massive queries and simultaneous purchases once the highly anticipated Add To Bag button becomes available worldwide.

As a last note, my thoughts outlined in this post are not in any way reflective of the Falcon’s superb and grandiose design, nor do I intend to malign such a magnificent Star Wars UCS set. I have to admit that I myself am green with envy for those who were able to take home this set. But as they say in marketing spheres, the product is only as good as how it is served, and it will be better for LEGO if it will learn from the Falcon’s VIP release before it is launched again in October 1.

Now, we just have to wait…

LEGO Toys R Us Bricktober 2017 Minifigure Sets Official Images Now Up!

Toys R Us Germany has now released the official images of this year’s Bricktober 2017 Minifigures sets. Following the reveal of this year’s minifigure collection from TRU Austria’s promotional poster, their corresponding official images have now been released online. It gives us a better idea of what to expect from these sets which is quite frankly, one of the best that TRU offered so far.

These prized collectibles will be distributed first in Germany this month, and in the US and the rest of the world in October. There’s no official word yet on what particular weeks will these sets be released, and how to have these minifigs in the US once October kicks in, but based on previous TRU Briktober promotionals, we can assume that these minifigure sets will be given away for free with a minimum of qualifying LEGO purchase of $50 and above, exclusively at all TRU stores in the US. On the other hand, they will go on sale in Germany for 14.99€ per set and will also be given for free with a minimum LEGO purchase of 40€ and above.

Is LEGO Dropping Some Hints About The LEGO Batman Movie 2018 Sets?

LEGO has recently uploaded an image on their Twitter page on what could be a teaser on the next wave of LEGO Batman Movie sets. If you recall, a rumor has surfaced two months ago on what could comprise the third wave of TLBM sets slated to be released early in 2018, and now it seems that LEGO has given out the first clue on how some of these sets may look like. Check out the Bat Segway!

The talk in brick town suggests that we will be seeing five (5) TLBM sets in 2018 which includes unnumbered sets such as Justice League Anniversary Party, Egghead’s Food Fight, Harley Quinn’s Cannon Ball Attack, Bat-Buggy, and the Bat-Space Shuttle. Interestingly, some of these abovementioned sets, including that of a modified Bat Segway called the Whirly-Bat (which is one of the many actual bat vehicles that Batman and Robin used in the comics), can be seen in some of the pages of DK’s The LEGO Batman Movie: The Making of the Movie. According to DK, some of the vehicles and contraptions that were seen in the Batcave in TLBM were built as actual LEGO sets, and the book itself may be giving away clues on how these Wave 3 sets may actually look like.

Here are some other snapshots from the pages of The LEGO Batman Movie: The Making of the Movie courtesy of The Brick Fan. From these images, it seems that Egghead will have the upper hand with his chicken-powered mech. Perhaps a team-up with Condiment King is in order?

Now that the Bat Segway is out, it’s just a matter of time before we see the rest of TLBM’s Wave 3 sets. Keep tabs with LEGO in social media for more teasers in the next few weeks. Now I wonder if Tyler has something in the works… Bat-wise! Stay tuned!

More LEGO Nexo Knights Sets Slated in 2018.

It seems that the LEGO Nexo Knights has gained some steam. In spite of being relatively quiet during the past months without any recent announcements of new sets, and its rumored cancellation due to its underwhelming market share, it seems that LEGO is not willing to drop the curtain yet for this relatively young theme.

Brick Fanz was quick to take notice of the tease in the latest issue of the LEGO Life Magazine, which confirms that the LEGO Nexo Knights will not be cancelled, but in fact, will be having a string of new sets based on a sinister, ancient enemy.  If you recall, since the theme’s launch in 2016, the heroes of Knighton has battled  against the quick-tempered Lava Army, together with Jestro and his infamous Book of Monsters, and this year against Monstrox and his Stone Army. The Lava Army together with some of the Nexo Knights are all predominantly colored red, while Monstrox and the Stone Army are rendered in purple.

For 2018 however, a new foe now looms over the horizon with the ability to seemingly influence our heroes and manipulate their thoughts and emotions. We have little information about this new foe which has been coined as the Tech Infection, except for the fact they are probably luminous green in color.

If ever the Tech Infection sets’ color schemes will be near to that translucent green color as seen from the image above, then I can just imagine a whole lot of potential sets that may take its cue from the early 90s’ Blacktron 2 and 2015’s Ultra Agents. Brickset has also updated its database to include placeholders for 6 sets under Season 5 of the Nexo Knights’ line-up. Design wise, the Tech Infection subtheme has the potential of becoming the best Nexo Knights sets.

What do you think brick fans, are you glad about this latest subtheme addition to the Nexo Knights? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO Fans in London Will Have A Head Start in Being the First Owners of a LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) Set!

LEGO has made it official: several LEGO VIP members in London may now become the very first proud owners of the massively cool, LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) ahead of the set’s global release on October 1. Posted as a Facebook event, LEGO announces the midnight launch of the famed 7,500+ piece set at London’s LEGO flagship store at Leicester Square. Here are the details.

UCS Millennium Falcon (75192)

scaled img 1465

LEGO Star Wars fans rejoice! The time to celebrate the arrival of the biggest ever LEGO set has come!

Come join us and become one of the first owners* of the brand new LEGO® Star Wars™ Ultimate Collector Series Millennium Falcon 75192.

We will be opening the LEGO Store at Leicester Square on September 13th at 11:59 PM for the release of this epic set!

The first 100 people to purchase this set will receive a limited edition LEGO VIP card** entitling the bearer to exclusive VIP benefits in 2018.

You can even have your LEGO Star Wars set signed by the LEGO Designers Jens Kronvold Frederiksen and Michael Lee Stockwell.

Line up early to ensure entry, as space is limited. Looking forward to see there.

Though LEGO’s announcement of the Falcon’s first 100 sets being made available for the first 100 customers who will hold a vigil on the 13th, the post didn’t mention exactly how many sets will the store be able to sell on that day. Rebelscum seems to stumble upon an intel that suggests that the LEGO London Leicester Store will be able to hold stocks for 147 sets and no more, considering the sheer size of these sets and its box dimensions. Once sold out (which I reckon will be very, very quickly), the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192) will only be available again during its global release on October 1.

UCS Millennium Falcon (75192)

Another interesting bit of novelty that comes with the perks of being the very first owner of the UCS Millennium Falcon is the privilege of having your UCS MF sets signed by its respective designers. However, the lead designer for the 75192 Hans Burkhard Schlömer (who goes by the name BrickCommander over at Brickset) has confirmed that he will not be around during the signing.

Hans with UCS MF

Nevertheless, there are still plenty of good things in store even if you missed out on meeting Hans in person. Being one of the very first LEGO Star Wars faithful to own the UCS Falcon also allows you to be the proud holder of a limited edition black and silver LEGO VIP Card – a fitting tribute to the world’s largest LEGO set. As The Brick Fan pointed out, LEGO released the very first Ultimate Collector’s Millennium Falcon (10179) back in 2007 together with a Certificate of Authenticity. Now fast forward 10 years later, a set as grand as 75192 is also expected to land in LEGO stores with a sense of exclusivity. Though there seem to be no double VIP points offered during this period, being an owner of this exclusive black VIP card will entitle its bearer to special LEGO Star Wars promotions slated in 2018. According to sources, LEGO fans in the US who will purchase the 75192 until the end of this year, both in-store and online (given that there are still stocks left), will also be entitled to this exclusive LEGO VIP card.

LEGO fans in London surely have the larger share of the brick-built pie on this one, and the rest of us will have to wait until October to secure our own copy. We’re not sure if this midnight launch promotional on the 13th will only be limited or exclusive to the LEGO Store in Leicester Square – we’ll keep our eyes and ears open for more news on this side of the galaxy so be sure to bookmark our site and sign-up for our notifications.

A Look at the Latest LEGO Ninjago Movie Posters.

We’re just counting the days before we tap on that inner ninja, and swing our way into theaters to see The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Promotions are also revving up via social media prior to the film’s US screening on September 22, particularly with the release of a new batch of pretty interesting TLNM posters. Since a couple of months ago, Warner Bros have released a series of new posters, including our ninjas alongside their mechs, and elemental affinity. This time around, we have not one but as it seems, two new series of posters that highlight our ninja heroes and their respective voice actors (and actress).

Courtesy of Fandango, this series offers a closer look at our main characters amidst their elemental backdrops.

Though it seems that this next series is incomplete, I hope LEGO and Warner Bros still has plenty of these posters in the works. As of the moment, we only have the character posters of Lloyd, Naya and Sensei Wu beautifully rendered in Japanese-inspired, woodblock-type, prints. Among these series, I personally prefer this one.

Toys R Us Announces The LEGO Ninjago Movie In-Store Building Event.

We’re now just a couple of weeks away before The LEGO Ninjago Movie hits the big screen, and to mark the occasion, Toys R Us in the US will be running another in-store building event on September 23 – just a day after the first screening of TLNM. From 12PM to 2PM of the said date, kids ages 6 and up will have a chance of building and bringing home their very own, Mini Ninja Training Temple at all Toys R Us stores nationwide.

090617 nija 02

Similar to previous TRU build and take home events, the Mini Ninja Training Temple comes in limited stocks so it will be better if you take advantage of early registrations. The temple itself is sort of like a microbuild, that takes cue from Ninjago’s second largest set (but not necessarily part of the LEGO Ninjago Movie film franchise), Temple of Airjitzu (70751). There’s also a mention of another ‘ninja training activity’ where in-store participants will receive a free Ninjago headband on the 23rd.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie will hit US theaters on September 22, 2017 and are voiced by Olivia Munn (Koko), Justin Theroux (Garmadon), Jackie Chan (Sensei Wu), and Dave Franco (Lloyd) among others.

This Year’s LEGO Christmas Build Up (40253) Revealed!

LEGO seems to be in an early festive spirit with its latest addition of collectible holiday gifts this Christmas season. Other than the fan-favorite Advent Calendars, LEGO as it turns out, will be giving away another Christmas-themed promotional to celebrate the holidays. If you recall from last year, LEGO gave a free 250-piece Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) for a minimum purchase of $99 at all LEGO Stores and at shop.LEGO.com from October 1-25, 2016. This time, Italy’s LEGO Store Calendar gives us a peek at what looks like this year’s free LEGO Christmas Build Up (40253) set.

Christmas Build Up

Christmas Build Up 2

This new set looks very much the same as that from the Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) in which you can come up with 24 Christmas-themed builds that you have to construct one at a time. We don’t have any official word or images yet, except for the fact that the Christmas Build-Up set will be offered as a free promotional for every qualifying purchase of €65 and above in Italy starting October 22 to November 22. Given the cycle of LEGO Christmas promotionals that North America has, it is fair to assume that we will also have this as a LEGO Store and shop.LEGO.com promotional as early as next month

Thanks to Brickset for the heads up, and Mattonito for sharing these images.
