UPDATE: LEGO has just released official images of the exclusive SDCC 2017 Deadpool Duck. Scroll down to see the images.

***********************************************************************************************

We’re counting the hours away before SDCC 2017 opens its gate once again to the legion of Comic Con faithful. After the reveal of Legend of Tomorrow’s Vixen exclusive SDCC 2017 minifigure, now comes the second exclusive minifig in the character of the unapologetic and insanely cool comic book hybrid, Deadpool Duck!

The news was confirmed by the LEGO Group in a recent press release in relation to this year’s grandest comic book fan event. Deadpool Duck is the unholy combination of the two of the most revered, action-packed characters from Marvel Comics: Howard the Duck and of course, the Merc with a Mouth, Deadpool. Brickset has just shared our first image of the SDCC exclusive minifig which was reportedly taken by the guys from IGN.

Deadpool Duck

We’re still waiting for LEGO to release the official images for this Deadpool Duck minifig, but from the looks of it, the minifigure head is definitely from the same mould as that of Donald and Daisy Duck’s collectible minifigs. The torso is accentuated with Deadpool’s signature firearms vest, while the legs are taken from a child’s minifigure colored in leather brown.

Hate them or love them, these exclusive SDCC minifigures are expected to generate a lot of interest among Comic Con fans because of their exclusivity and absurd value in the aftermarket sales. If you’re reading this and you’re at the San Diego Convention Center already, be sure to be at the Pavilion Terrace at 12:30PM for the raffle draw on Thursday, July 20 and Saturday, July 22.

Instructions To Make Your Own LEGO BrickHeadz Wonder Woman Now Available.

As mentioned in the July LEGO Store Calendar, yesterday marks the start of another Adult Build Event were AFOLs age 18 years and above (with qualifying purchases of $75 or more) are entitled to participate in an exclusive in-store make and build event. The LEGO BrickHeadz Wonder Woman in-store building event is a great opportunity to bring home this exclusive set which is quite different from the very first BrickHeadz released during last year’s San Diego Comic Con.

02 July Store Calendar Front

Thanks to Reddit user ericxoxp, we now have a digital copy of the building instructions for this exclusive BrickHeadz. The parts list seems not to include any unique LEGO parts so building this is relatively easy. This build is based on Wonder Woman’s iteration as seen in the new DC Super Hero Girls theme. There are no printed parts save for the black, round 1×1 tiles for her eyes.

Something Big Is Coming in September – Can You Guess What It Is?

Considering how much fake news has already spread over the Internet during the past months about the rumored comeback of the LEGO UCS Millennium Falcon, I will completely understand if  you will opt to stop reading beyond this point. However, the LEGO Star Wars faithful from Rebel Scum has recently picked a piece of intel that is definitely worth our attention.

LEGO set designer Hans Burkhard Schlömer is one LEGO’s most prolific creators responsible for designing several LEGO Chima and Star Wars sets, most noteworthy of them are the Slave I (75060), Assault on Hoth (75098), and 2015’s Millennium Falcon (75105), all under the Ultimate Collectors’ Series.

Hans LEGO UCS Slave 1

Hans is also the creator of one of the most recent LEGO Star Wars sets the Republic Fighter Tank (75182). Though this set is unrelated to the rumored Millennium Falcon, what is interesting is the teaser that Hans left as part of his Brickset Notes for 75182. Here’s a screen shot of what he said in case these things start to disappear.

UCS Millenium 2

To emphasize, Hans points out that:

“Clones need a ride too! I did this set as a quick side-project while working on a much, much, much, much, much, much larger set which is going to be announced on September 1st 2017”.

Now, before we jump into conclusions that this may all be circumstantial as far as the UCS Millennium Falcon is concerned, it might help to look back at the designer video for the LEGO Creator Expert Carousel (10257). These designer vids are famous for dropping clues that point out to yet to be revealed sets. Be quick on the pause button and try to hit it at around the 0:02 mark. Guess who’s holding the microscale Millennium Falcon as it is chased around by a space slug? Yup, it is definitely Hans. You can also see in the background some LEGO Star Wars sets that he designed including Krennic’s Imperial Shuttle (75156), and the Resistance Troop Transporter (75140).

UCS Millenium

The month of September is a very important month for LEGO and Star Wars fans, since this marks the start of the annual Star Wars sales event, Force Friday. LEGO definitely knows how to time its big reveals. Again, I want to point out that this may all be circumstantial as Rebel Scum succinctly points out, but nevertheless, the facts are quite hard to ignore.

So what do you say about these Brick Fans? What do you think this “much, much, much, much, much, much larger set” that Hans is referring to? Things are really getting more exciting!

YESSSS! LEGO Life-Size Brick-Built Statue of Thor Heads It Way to SDCC!

We saw Justice League’s Flash getting the #LEGOSDCC treatment a few days ago, and this time, joining him as one of this year’s SDCC highlights is the Norse god of thunder himself, MCU’s Thor, as seen in the upcoming film, Thor: Ragnarok. Entertainment Weekly gives us an inside look and some fun facts about this latest LEGO creation. Check out the time-lapse video below of how this brick-built statue came to be. The following images are courtesy of Entertainment Weekly.

Thor Ragnarok 1 Thor Ragnarok 21

//players.brightcove.net/219646971/default_default/index.html?videoId=5510654935001

This life-sized LEGO statue captures Thor’s cinematic version as played by Chris Hemsworth. The final model stands at 7 feet tall, made up 33,495 LEGO bricks, and took a total of 290 hours to build. I love how the designers made good use of the bright red pieces as it accentuate the alien-like markings on the left side of the build, and the flowing effect of Thor’s cape. The way the cape was constructed is totally rad! I’d say that the choice of handheld weapons on this build is a good call as well on the part of the designers. In the absence of Mjolnir, the choice of having the god of thunder wielding two swords is a lot better than seeing him holding an over-sized screwdriver.

2017’s San Diego Comic Con will officially kick-off on Thursday, July 20 at the San Diego Convention Center. LEGO has always been an active exhibitor at these events, and if you’re paying a visit at SDCC, then be sure to drop by at Booth #2829. LEGO has already announced this year’s exclusive SDCC minifigure in the character of CW’s Vixen from Legends of Tomorrow, and there’s still more LEGO surprises to be revealed as we count the hours away so be sure to keep tabs with us for more LEGO @SDCC updates.

LEGO Unveils Its First SDCC 2017 Exclusive Minifigure.

LEGO has been quite mum about this one, until now. We saw from last year that CW’s Rey Palmer (aka Atom) of DC’s Legends of Tomorrow was one of San Diego Comic Con’s exclusive swags, alongside Steve Roger’s Captain America. This time around, we have another character from Legends of Tomorrow that a few brick fans will be so fortunate enough to have. LEGO has shared via its Twitter account that Vixen will now be getting the exclusive LEGO SDCC treatment for this year’s SDCC.

For those of you who are not familiar with her character, Vixen (aka Amaya Jiwe) is a CW character and a former member of Justice Society of America played on screen by Maisie Richardson-Sellers. Hailing from Africa, Vixen is an expert in hand-to-hand combat, made even more deadly by the powerful Anansi Totem – a magically imbued necklace that allows her to summon or harness the life force of animals, giving her superhuman strength, speed, agility, and resistance to the elements.

Amaya Jiwe as Vixen character poster

The manner of having Vixen in her exclusive LEGO minifigure form will be basically the same as that from previous years. If you’re attending this year’s Comic Con, you must be at the Pavilion Terrace at 12:30PM and wait in line from July 20 to 23. This limited edition, SDCC exclusive minifig is expected to shoot up in value in the aftermarket for as much as $200 to $250. Even as of this writing, a couple of pre-auction listings on eBay are now posted.

Vixen 2 Vixen 1 Vixen 3

If you’re unable to attend this year’s Comic Con, LEGO will still be running its usual online raffle via Twitter, so be sure to keep tabs with their social media accounts. Be sure to stay tuned with us for more LEGO SDCC updates only here at the Brick Show!

LEGO Ideas Woman of NASA Slated to be Released at the End of the Year.

Hate them or love them, the next LEGO Ideas set that pays tribute to NASA’s space exploration program now has a launch date. Following the release of the highly in-demand, LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) set, we now have confirmation that the next NASA-themed set is expected to be released on December 1 of this year.

LEGO Ideas Women of NASA 3

Designed by LEGO fan and space enthusiast Maia Weinstock (aka 20tauri over at LEGO Ideas), the LEGO Ideas Women of NASA is the next approved LEGO Ideas project following the NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309), and the yet to be released Old Fishing Store (21310). The reveal was made at the LEGO fan event, Japan Brickfest held last June, where members of the LEGO Community Engagement Team announced the set’s launch date during one of their presentation.

Japan Brickfest

Though it was briefly said in passing, the announcement of the launch date wasn’t hard to miss. Check out the video below and pause it around the 7:34 mark.

Truth be told, many LEGO Ideas fans were not that thrilled when the announcement was made regarding the selection of the Women of NASA as the next official LEGO Ideas set. It was met with mixed reactions from the LEGO community – from those who laud LEGO for giving more emphasis on sets that inspire budding scientists regardless of their gender, to those who lament the fact that it is such a small set with very limited play features.

Whatever your take on this, we still yet to see how LEGO will tweak on its preliminary fan-made design to somehow make it more appealing to the majority of LEGO fans, young and old alike. In the meantime come by September, we still have the Old Fishing Store (21310) to watch out for which is expected to have a good amount of following.

More LEGO Ninjago Movie Polybags Revealed!

More news is coming in with regards to The LEGO Ninjago Movie sets and polybags. After the reveal of several TLNM set polybags such as the Kendo Lloyd (30608), Ice Tank (30427), and The LEGO Ninjago Movie Movie Maker (5004394) we now have reports of two additional polybags that will be coming out soon. Thanks to Hoth Bricks, we now have a look at what these polybags are, and how they fare as micro-scaled versions of the original mech sets of our Ninjago heroes.

30427 1

Coming in at 64 pieces, we have the Quake Mech (30379) polybag which takes its cue from it’s yet to be revealed larger counterpart, set 70632. It is the unicycle riding mech supposedly driven by Cole in the film, and rumor has it that the larger 70632 is slated to be a part of TLNM’s 2018 wave of sets. In the meantime, we’ll settle for this smaller rendition which is not bad in itself.

30379 1 e1500334418192

Next we have the smaller Green Ninja Mech Dragon (30428) polybag which quite frankly, looks more like a hatchling of its larger predecessor. Being at microscale coming in at 60 pieces, it actually looks more like a baby lizard rather than a dragon! I can just imagine someone building a MOC of the Green Ninja Dragon Mech flanked by these little baby critters.

30428 1 e1500334540582

We don’t have any info as of now on the availability of these polybags, but we do expect that LEGO will keep up with the trend of offering micro-scale versions of these much larger sets just in time before The LEGO Ninjago Movie debuts in theaters on September 22. It’ll be fun to collect these micro-scaled mech polybags and have it stand alongside their larger versions.

Which of these polybags will you pick up? What other TLNM mechs will you like to have polybag treatment? Let us know what you think in the comments below.

Get To Build Your Very Own Wonder Woman and Supergirl Mini Models.

If you recall, one of the highlights of the June LEGO Store Calendar is the DC Super Hero Girls Building Event, held on two separate dates. Taking its cue from one of its recent DC Superhero Girls theme, these building events are similar to the LEGO Store’s Monthly Mini Builds where participants are required to register first before being able to participate. Last month, participants who were fortunate enough to register were able to build and bring home a Wonder Woman and/or Supergirl Miniland-scale figure for free

WW LEGO Store May Calendar 2 SG LEGO Store May Calendar 2

This time, in case you missed the event, you can now build your very own DC Superhero Girls exactly as they were offered last June thanks to the building instructions posted by Brickset. It seems that these instructions do not require any special piece or element so they’re relatively easy to build. See if you can sort out through your LEGO collection and try to build these mini-models. I personally like the Supergirl build with the pieces cleverly angled to create her arms and emblem.
