A Glimpse At Some of the 2020 LEGO Licensed Sets Revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

More 2020 LEGO licensed sets such as those from the Marvel, Star Wars and Minecraft franchises are on its way this summer. However, LEGO is still strictly putting a lid on most of them at the Nuremberg Toy except for some that visitors are allowed to see.

LEGO Star Wars 2020

As always, upcoming LEGO Star Wars are one of the most tightly guarded licensed themes and only the LEGO Star Wars 2020 Advent Calendar (75279) was revealed during the toy fair, and it is expected to be released sometime in September retailing for €29.99.

LEGO Marvel Superheroes 2020

Only one LEGO Marvel set was allowed to be seen and this is the first one under the theme. The LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust (76165) is reported to be also bear the 18+ tag similar to the LEGO Architecture The White House (21054). It is expected to retail for €59.99 with an early release in May. I assume that this will be based on MCU’s version of Iron Man, and will somehow larger in scale as compared to the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Bust (75227) which was exclusively released during the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago, and at Target stores.

75227 1
It is most likely that the LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust will be similar in scale as that of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Bust (75227).
LEGO Minecraft 2020

There will be the LEGO Minecraft Crafting 3.0 (21161) that will be released as the newer version of those that were released in 2014 (set21116) and 2017 (set 21135). It was also mentioned that a LEGO Minecraft Red Stone Battle (21163) set is also in the brick pipelines. There were no other set details that were revealed about these sets and that’s quite a bummer for fans of the LEGO Minecraft theme.

21135 1
Another version the LEGO Minecraft Crafting Box will be released sometime in summer. The image above is from the LEGO Minecraft Crafting Box 2.0 (21135).

I am more interested in how that LEGO Marvel Iron Man Bust (76165) will turn out. Being larger as compared to other LEGO busts, I expect greater detail and more realistic design on his helmet and armor especially if it will accommodate the power core on his chest. It’s a fitting tribute to the legacy of Robert Downey Jr’s version of Iron Man as the whole MCU basically started with him. And having a release date this upcoming May will sure to see some official images pop-up anytime soon.

So what do you think about the rest of the sets 2020 LEGO licensed sets that were not exhibited at the toy fair? Are you impressed about them? Let me know in the comments below.

Thanks again to Zusammengebaut for this info.

LEGO Ninjago 2020 Set Info at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

As the Nuremberg Toy Fair goes on, the LEGO Booth has revealed some information regarding summer’s LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets. However, unlike other themes from the City, Creator, Friends, and Technic lines. They were a bit mum about the rest of the details.

Zusammengebaut is still in the halls of the International Toy Fair, reporting from the toy event. However, it seems that LEGO is still keeping a tight lid on what’s next for LEGO Ninjago, with little information being made available for attendees. Save for the set names and a couple of sets on display.

LEGO Ninjago Summer 2020 Sets
  • Spinjitzu Burst Cole (70685) – €9.99
  • Spinjitzu Burst Kai (70686) – €9.99
  • Spinjitzu Burst Lloyd (70687) – €9.99
  • Lloyd (71717) – €24.99
  • Dragon with Wu (71718) – €19.99
  • Rhinoceros (71719) – €49.99
  • Destiny’s Bounty (71720) – €69.99
  • White Dragon (71721) – €79.99
  • Dungeon (71722) €9.99

Continuing the LEGO Ninjago Legacy subtheme, the first three sets (or small packs) on the list are a sort of rehash of the classic spinning sets that were first introduced in 2012. Destiny’s Bounty (71720) set is also another envisioning of the iconic ship in the series making it the 4th set of its kind since it was released in 2012 (set 9446), 2015 (set 70738), and 2017 (set 70618). It was also mentioned that there will be a sort of gameboard features on some of these sets, with even a new, never-before-seen LEGO die element that is different from traditional ones.

70618 1
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Destiny’s Bounty (70618) is by far the largest version of this memorable ship. We’ll just have to see if its successor will be as great.

Though this new wave of LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets will continue to tie-in where the current animated series left off, details on the remaining sets are still scant. We just have to wait and see if all of these will be completely revealed once New York Toy Fair 2020 kicks off in February.

More LEGO Technic 2020 Sets On Display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

As it seems, there is more to LEGO’s lineup of LEGO Technic 2020 sets other than the officially revealed LEGO Technic Lamborghini and Fast & Furious sets. As shared by Zusammengebaut over at the International Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany, there are more of these series of sets to be expected in the latter half of the year.

Since photography is not allowed, let’s try to make sense out of everything that was reported at Nuremberg. For starters, the following are the confirmed LEGO Technic 2020 sets as they were put on display.

LEGO Technic 2020 Sets
  • Ducati Panigale V4R Motorrad (42107) – €59.99
  • Concrete Mixer Truck (42112) – 99.99
  • Bell Osprey Boeing Helicopter (42113) – 129.99
  • Volvo 6X6 Loader (42114) – 249.99

Right off the bat, the Ducati Panigale V4R Motorrad (42107) features a predominantly red Ducati motorbike which includes a new LEGO piece used for the brake pad. At 59.99 Euros, we can expect this to be on the same level as to that of the LEGO Technic BMW R 1200 GS Adventure (42063) released in 2017. This latest LEGO Technic motorbike is expected to arrive in stores sometime in June.

The Concrete Mixer Truck (42112) comes in with a dark blue color scheme, and consisting of both Technic and System pieces. Like other sets in this new series, the Concrete Mixer Truck has new LEGO pieces offered, particularly in interesting dark blue cast parts made specifically for this set.

The Bell Osprey Boeing Helicopter (42113) features a black and orange color scheme and sports a dual-propellers similar to its actual counterpart. These propellers do not include the new Powered Up motor functions unlike the flagship set of this series.

The massive dual-propeller Bell Bell Osprey Boeing Helicopter will now have an official LEGO Technic set.

Speaking of a flagship set, the Volvo 6X6 Loader (42114) is the cream of the crop of this series and comes in with an impressive 2,193 pieces, Control+ features such as two L-motors, two XL-motors, and one horizontal motor. It will also come with articulated steering together with other functions such as tilt, forward and backward motion. Expect this set to be the priciest in this wave, retailing for 249.99 Euros.

These are all new and exciting LEGO Technic sets considering that there has been none like these that were previously released under the Technic theme. And with other upcoming sets based on high-end sports cars, this particular wave of LEGO Technic 2020 sets will be kind of difficult to give a pass.

LEGO Architecture The White House (21054) Coming In Summer 2020

New reveals just keep coming in from the LEGO Booth at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany. A new LEGO Architecture set has been introduced and it is said to be the largest LEGO set offered under the said theme. The LEGO Architecture The White House (21054) has been revealed and, if the reported numbers are correct, comes in at an impressive 1,500+ piece count.

Same as with other new LEGO summer 2020 sets on display, photography or filming is not allowed so we have to refer to Zusammengebaut who has been on the floor of the International Toy Fair. Accordingly, the LEGO Architecture The White House (21054) is also the first-ever set to be tagged with an “18+” label. It may refer to the difficulty level of building this set which caters specifically to adult LEGO fans. Though the label mentions that the set contains 3,700 pieces, this was actually reported as an error in printing. Once complete, The White House (21054) will measure at an impressive 50 centimeters in length, which is already substantial for an elegant display set.

21006 1
The very first LEGO Architecture The White House (21006) was released in 2010, with its successor expected to be significantly larger and more detailed.

The arrival of this set is a long time coming. If you recall, the last time that LEGO released a similar set was way back in 2010 with the LEGO Architecture The White House (21006). It is a sort of microscaled model with only 500 and more pieces. But with the arrival of its successor, we can expect a more detailed and fine-tuned version of the US executive headquarters.

The newer LEGO Architecture The White House (21054) is expected to arrive in June 2020 and will have an expected retail price of €99.99. It joins other newer LEGO sets revealed at the Toy Fair, namely those from the LEGO City, Creator, and Friends themes.

LEGO Friends 2020 Sets Unveiled at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

Adding to the portfolio of LEGO Summer 2020 sets, LEGO has also pulled off the veil from its LEGO Friends 2020 sets all of which are now on display at the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany. Similar to the LEGO City and LEGO Creator sets that are on display, photography is not allowed so we will be sharing their set names and expected retail instead, courtesy once again of German LEGO fan correspondent Zusammengebaut.

This next wave of LEGO Friends 2020 sets slated for summer follows a summer vacation and jungle conservation themes and will be available sometime in June and July.

LEGO Friends 2020 Summer Sets
  • Baby Elephant Rescue (41421) – €29.99
  • Panda Rescue Station (41422) – €29.99
  • Hot Air Balloon Tiger Rescue (41423) – €39.99
  • Animal Rescue Station (41424) – €79.99

There are also some new Heartlake City sets that further expand this particular subtheme of LEGO Friends.

  • Olivia’s Flower Garden (41425) – €9.99
  • Waffle House (41426) – €19.99
  • Emma’s Fashion Shop (41427) – €29.99

And to get on with the summer outings and happenings, LEGO is also throwing in three summer-inspired LEGO Friends 2020 sets.

  • Beach House (41428) – €49.99
  • Airplane (41429) – €69.99
  • Water Park (41430) – €99.99

Plus the new-for-2020 LEGO Friends Advent Calendar were also introduced.

LEGO Friends Advent Calendar (41420) – €24.99

41374 1
The LEGO Friends Andrea’s Pool Party (41374) from last year features a water slide function. The newer LEGO Friends sets will now include a water tube slide entirely.

The largest among the series, the LEGO Friends Water Park (41430) is said to features a handful of interesting new LEGO pieces such as the new tube pieces designed to be a sort of water slide. It is wide enough for a mini-doll to pass through while being watertight at the same time. Similar to the new play features of the LEGO City 2020 sets that focus on a Deep Sea Explorer subtheme, these new LEGO Friends summer vacation themed sets may also be played on water. Such trends with these new LEGO sets are somewhat interesting, considering that they add a new level of play not typically seen with previous LEGO sets. The Baby Elephant Rescue (41421) also features a new, blue elephant figure that adds to the roster of unique animal figures available under the LEGO Friends theme.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 2020 Sets Revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

Following the reveal of the next wave of LEGO City 2020 sets straight from the Nuremberg Toy Fair, we now have more news regarding upcoming LEGO Creator 3-in-1 2020 sets courtesy once more of Zusammengebaut. There were only 3 LEGO Creator sets that were featured during the toy fair, one of which brings back memories of one of LEGO’s classic themes beloved by older LEGO fans.

Filming or photography is strictly prohibited but LEGO allows us to publish their set names and other info available during the duration of the Toy Fair.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1

  • Space Rover (31107) €49.99
  • Camper Van (31108) €79.99
  • Pirate Ship (31109) €99.99

For fans of the classic Pirate theme, please take note that the LEGO Creator Pirate Ship, though being the largest among this series, does not feature an actual cloth sail similar to its predecessors. The sail portion of this set is entirely made of white LEGO pieces with black ones used to highlight some details. I find it a bit odd actually since the LEGO Creator Pirate Ship (31109) will look way better with sailcloth on it for that matter.

There are also minifigures included that are said to resemble those released under the Pirates theme back in 2009 and 2015. However these minifigs were not put on display, but the placeholders on the box art positively suggest that these will be thrown in together with the set.

70413 1
The next LEGO Creator 3-in-1 2020 set may somehow take inspiration from the LEGO Pirates The Brick Bounty (70143), but with less the cloth sails.

There is no confirmed release date yet, but a June 2020 window is a reasonable conclusion. Perhaps more info and images will be released during next month’s New York Toy Fair. We’ll keep you posted.

LEGO City 2020 Reveals at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, Germany

Europe’s largest toy fair is now in full swing. The Nuremberg Toy Fair 2020 has kicked in at the Nuremberg Exhibition Center in Germany, and similar to previous toy events, LEGO intends to flaunt its latest sets to arrive in the second half of the year. And thanks to Andres Lehmann from German LEGO fan site Zusammengebaut, we now have our first info regarding what to expect from upcoming LEGO City 2020 sets.

Similar to other toy fairs, taking images is strictly prohibited since most of this is understandably under embargo. However, we are at liberty to at least provide the set names which are listed below. From the looks of it, the next wave of LEGO City sets will follow an Air Transport and Deep Sea Explorers subthemes, with the latter released back in 2015.

LEGO City Air Transport

Slated for a June 2020 release.

  • Air Race (60260) – €29.99
  • Central Airport (60261) – €49.99
  • Passenger Airplane (60262) – €99.99
LEGO City Deep Sea Explorers

Slated for a July 2020 release.

  • Marine Research Mini Submarine (60263) – €9.99
  • Marine Research Submarine (60264) – €29.99
  • Marine Research Base (60265) – €59.99
  • Marine Research Vessel (60266) – €129.99
  • LEGO City 2020 Advent Calendar (60268) – €19.99
60092 1
The LEGO City Deep Sea Submarine (60092) from 2015. Will the next wave of LEGO City 2020 sets be based on this one?

It is interesting to note here that according to Andres, the Marine Research Vessel (60266) is a pretty large set that even comes with waterproof stickers. Furthermore, it seems to be the largest among these sets that also features a docking bay in the middle to load other smaller ships, perhaps the Marine Research Submarines for that matter. I’m also not really sure for the reason behind these sets having waterproof stickers, but could it be that this set is intended to be played on water? What do you think?

This next wave of LEGO City sets is scheduled for release in June and July, with official images to be out soon hopefully sometime next month when the New York Toy Fair kicks in from February 22 to 25. These new LEGO City 2020 sets follow LEGO’s announcements of a new LEGO Technic Lamborghini set, and one that is based on the Fast & Furious film franchise.

LEGO Confirms A New LEGO Technic Fast & Furious Set

Towards the end of 2019, there was a rumor that went rounds within the LEGO fan community that speaks of a partnership between LEGO and Universal Pictures to specifically promote the Fast & Furious film franchise. And this time, along with many other set reveals that went out recently, LEGO has finally confirmed that an upcoming LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set is now in order.

Both franchises are known for creativity and cool cars so we are really excited to work with Universal on this awesome product that both LEGO Technic and Fast & Furious fans are going to love to build!” Jill Wilfert, Vice President of Inbound & Entertainment Licensing at the LEGO Group.

The Technic building system offers a challenging build for older children and adults, with focus on cool models with authentic details.

Further information about the LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set, which is for ages 10 years and above, will be revealed later this year and will be in stores globally from April 27, 2020.

Will this new LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set be based on Brian O’Conner’s 1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS? We’ll soon find out.

It looks like LEGO is further expanding its portfolio of sets that specifically caters to AFOLs, all based from mainstream film and TV franchises. A few months ago, LEGO has also entered into a partnership with BBC in coming up with a LEGO Technic App-Controlled Top Gear Rally Car (42109). There was also the highly in-demand LEGO Ideas Central Perk (21319) based on highly popular FRIENDS TV series.  Now that we’re looking forward to a LEGO Technic Fast & Furious set, is this a sign of things to come for more LEGO sets geared towards adult fans? 2020 is certainly an exciting year.

We’re Getting our Very First LEGO Technic Lamborghini In June 2020

This week has seen a slew of LEGO news – from the official reveal of LEGO DOTS, to the new LEGO sets being introduced at Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, and now to one that caters to older LEGO fans. LEGO has just announced that starting June this year, fans of the Technic theme have something to look forward to, the first-ever LEGO Technic Lamborghini set.

scaled Teaser Poster
A teaser poster for the LEGO Technic Lamborghini (42115)

Based on their press release, this LEGO Technic Lamborghini set will be part of what the LEGO Group dubs as the LEGO Technic Ultimate Series which began with the Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) from 2016, and Bugatti Chiron (42083) from 2018. Based on its predecessors, this upcoming Lamborghini-inspired Technic set will similarly follow a 1:8 scale, featuring a highly sophisticated build, designed to imitate its real-life counterpart.

The new 1:8 scale set will launch in summer 2020 and will be the third model in the LEGO Technic Ultimate series, following on from its hugely popular predecessors, the Porsche 911 GT3 RS in 2016 and Bugatti Chiron in 2018. For fifty years, Automobili Lamborghini has produced beautifully designed, iconic super sports cars that are instantly recognisable. This new partnership will see Lamborghini and LEGO Technic joining forces to deliver the engineering excellence and design flair that both companies have become famous for. With the possibility of constructing transmissions, differentials and gearing systems, LEGO Technic is an advanced building experience that many fans find challenging yet rewarding. When you build with LEGO Technic, you learn how to Build for Real.

We have no further info or images available about this set, save for the teaser poster above. It’s really hard to figure out what particular Lamborghini model this is. It can be based on the existing Lamborghini Huracán Super Trofeo EVO, or it can be an entirely new model. We just have to wait and see.

Brickset has also listed this as LEGO Technic Lamborghini (42115), and we can expect this to have an early VIP release on June 1.  So what do you think this new LEGO Technic Lamborghini will look like? Shout out your comments below.

LEGO DOTS Initial Line Up Officially Revealed

After the initial reveal of the LEGO DOTS theme earlier this month, LEGO has now provided a press release that gives us a glimpse of what we can expect from this new line up of LEGO toys. To kickstart its debut, LEGO has also teamed up with artist Camille Walala to bring LEGO DOTS to life through a public art installation aptly named HOUSE OF DOTS in London while giving us an idea of what the latest LEGO theme will be like. You can read the full press release right here.

LEGO DOTS

What I find intriguing is the way LEGO DOTS are expected to be used. Not just as a line of accessories just like what we first thought similar to the now discontinued Clikits, but also as a medium of artistic expression using a canvas. Whether you’re creating wearables or simply decorating your room with LEGO pieces, LEGO DOTS will help you do that and more. Plus new printed tile pieces will be introduced which also includes emoji-like pieces, music notes, and much more.

LEGO DOTS 1HY2020 Lifestyle 41906 environment 01

LEGO DOTS taps into the arts and crafts space by using a 2D tile-based play concept that offers children a creative canvas for self-expression. Based on multiple shapes and colorful tiles, it is supported by an exciting portfolio that ranges from wearables to room décor with surfaces designed for individual customization and self-expression. To excite young creatives even more, over thirty mood tiles are also being introduced, incl. facial expressions, music note, cosmic planet, star night, paw prints and a rainbow pooh – and many more.

Here’s the first wave of LEGO DOTS products that we can expect starting March 1.
