The first episode of LEGO Masters US already kicked off yesterday, and I’m glad to see that none of our contestants are going home yet after a grueling 15 hours of building time (I’ll talk more about this on a separate post). While we’re eagerly waiting for the second episode to air next week, you might want to head over at your local LEGO Store to challenge yourself with that next awesome build. Because for every $10 you spend for any LEGO products will entitle you to a raffle entry to the LEGO Masters US Sweepstakes.
Every LEGO set purchase during the Registration Period from February 1 to April 30 (worth $10 or more) qualifies you to join the sweepstakes. For example, if your single-receipt purchase is worth $10 then you get one raffle entry, two entries if it is worth $20, five if it’s worth $50, ten entries if it’s $100 and so on.
And the prizes couldn’t be sweeter. Every week starting February 17 and every week thereafter, LEGO will draw from the pool of sweepstakes entries to select the winner of a Weekly Prize which is $500 worth of LEGO sets. And on May 11, winners for the First and Grand Prizes will also be selected where the First Prize Winner will receive a year’s supply of LEGO valued at $3,000, while the Grand Prize Winner will be awarded a trip for four (4) to LEGOLAND in New York.

Alright, I’m officially hyped. After almost 7 months of waiting, LEGO Masters US is finally here! Get your bricks on as we witness 10 pairs of the most talented builders across the United States battle for the title to become the ultimate LEGO Master with a handsome cash reward of $100,000.
The names have been drafted, and with 20 individuals coming from all walks of life and professions sharing one passion for the LEGO brick, this will be surely one heck of a brick ride.
At the helm of the show will be judges Amy Corbett who also serves as a LEGO Senior Designer, and Jamie Berard the LEGO builder par excellence who is responsible for most of the beloved sets under the LEGO Creator Expert and Architecture themes. And of course, to level up the challenges that contestants have to face throughout the competition, we have the guy behind the brooding voice of LEGO Batman, Will Arnett, to host the series. A number of celebrities will also be in the show such as Terry Crews, Nicole Byer, Mayim Bialik, Phil Lord, and Christopher Miller. A Star Wars-themed episode will also see a special appearance of R2-D2, C3-PO and BB-8.
Similar to previous seasons, the LEGO Masters US will feature a ton of building challenges that will stretch the limits of our contestants’ creativity. Other than the Star Wars-inspired episode, there will also be a movie-themed episode, a “Good vs Evil Challenge” and a Story Book episode. Details are sketchy, but the titles of the first three episodes are already posted online so it’s exciting to see what will happen in the show throughout the month of February. Some of these follow the same challenges as that from Season 2 in LEGO Masters Australia, like the Cut in Half episode.
February 5 – Dream Park Theme Park

The pairs of contestants are introduced; each duo must craft one section of a theme park, and when the sections are combined, they create an impressive theme park world.
February 12 – Space Smash
This space-themed MOC was the final build created by Jordan and Miller for LEGO Masters Australia.
Each duo must create a space-themed build; the creations must impress the judges when they are smashed in slow motion; Mayim Bialik guest judges.
February 19 – Cut in Half
Cut in Half is a challenge where contestants have to build the missing half of any random object using LEGO bricks.
Each team is given an everyday object that has been sliced in two and they are tasked with building its other half.
The first episode of LEGO Masters US will air tonight on Fox 9/8c, and will also be available for streaming via the FOX NOW app if you have a cable account or subscription. It will also be available for Hulu subscribers on Thursday morning.
A few weeks ago, LEGO Ideas launched a voting campaign to hear what LEGO Star Wars fans have to say about what they want to see as the next Ultimate Collector Series (UCS) set. There were three choices to consider and now that the votes are finally in, it looks like we will be getting a LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship anytime soon.
The announcement was made over at the LEGO Ideas blogsite, where the iconic transport from the Star Wars prequels (Attack of the Clones) emerged as the top choice of more than half of those who voted. Following the Republic Gunship is the Nebulon B Escort Frigate, and the TIE Bomber.
Truth be told, I was expecting the Nebulon B to come up on top since this is a UCS set intended to be displayed with all its intricate details. Furthermore, we haven’t seen this frigate before in LEGO form so it will be nice to have a unique LEGO Star Wars set that wasn’t rehashed before. Nevertheless, since more than half of the votes were in favor of the Republic Gunship, then I guess that proves it to be more popular and appealing.
The LEGO Star Wars Republic Gunship (75021) from 2013 is currently the largest LEGO tie-in version of this ship with over 1,100 pieces. A UCS version is expected to be significantly larger.
Obviously there are no details yet on when this LEGO Star Wars UCS Republic Gunship will be arriving. My best guess is that we’re looking at either a January or May 2021 release date for that matter. As an extra surprise, those who participated in the voting process also has the chance of winning a free UCS Republic Gunship once it is released, together with a LEGO Star Wars Yoda (75255) set. Three winners will be randomly selected and will be contacted via email.

As the Nuremberg Toy Fair comes to a close, the LEGO Booth at the International Toy Fair has a few more sets to reveal. Visitors and dealers were allowed to have a sneak peek of four of the LEGO Jurassic World summer 2020 sets. Promobricks continues its coverage of the events going on at the floor of the toy fair venue. With the LEGO Harry Potter theme getting another wave of sets, LEGO is also adding more sets to its LEGO Jurassic World portfolio.
There are four sets to be expected from the summer 2020 wave of LEGO Jurassic World as reported by Promobricks, with lots of dinosaurs to go around. Please take note that the following set names are just tentative based on how toy fair visitors describe them. It may not be considered final until such time that LEGO makes an official reveal. Furthermore, these sets are inspired by the LEGO Jurassic World animated series.
LEGO Jurassic World Dr. Wu’s Laboratory (75939)
Price: €19.99 | Minifigures: 2
At 20 Euro, this set is the smallest among this wave. It features a rendering of Dr. Henry Wu’s laboratory where he breeds different kinds of dinosaurs. What fans might be interested to know is that this set also comes with new baby ankylosaurus and triceratops dino figures. There is also an Owen Grady minifigure thrown to add to that of Dr. Wu.
LEGO Jurassic World Hunt for the Gallimimus and Pteranodon (75940)
Price: €59.99 | Minifigures: 3
The LEGO Jurassic World Pteranodon Chase (75926) features a net shooter, which will also be featured in this next wave of sets.
This set features, not one, but two dino bigfigs which collectors might find interesting: a Pteranodon and a larger Gallimimus. It also comes with brick-built drones, and a vehicle equipped with a net shooter similar to how the LEGO Jurassic World Fallen Kingdom Pteranodon Chase (75926), perhaps larger. Minifigures include Owen Grady, Claire, and a park employee.
LEGO Jurassic World House of Gyrospheres (75941)
Price: €99.99 | Minifigures: 5
The LEGO Jurassic World gyrosphere, such as seen in this Indominus Rex Breakout (75919) set, is quite ubiquitous to the theme. It will also be added again in one of the upcoming LEGO Jurassic World summer 2020 sets.
LEGO Jurassic World Land and Water Hunting (75942)
Price: €29.99 | Minifigures: 2
Apparently, this is the 4+ set under this theme. It features two vehicles, namely a yellow seaplane, a quad bike, and two dinosaur figures – a Velociraptor and it’s baby counterpart.
These LEGO Jurassic World summer 2020 sets are expected to arrive in stores in July 2020. In case LEGO makes an official reveal, then be sure to keep tabs with us here in our Brick Show blogsite.
Promobricks is on the floor of the Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, and it seems that LEGO still has something up its sleeves even at the last of the International Toy Fair. As it turns out, there have been some adjustments at the LEGO Booth where several LEGO Harry Potter Summer 2020 sets have been put on display. Unfortunately, media representatives were not given the opportunity to see these sets first hand. But this did not prevent our friends to gather some info on what these new LEGO Harry Potter sets are all about.
As a word of caution, please bear in mind that these descriptions are based on non-media sources that managed to glimpse over those sets. So in this case, nothing is final until LEGO gives its official word. Here is the list of these set names, expected retail price and the minifigures included with them.
LEGO Harry Potter Room of Requirement (75966)
The Room of Requirement from The Goblet of Fire.
Price: 19.99 Euro | Minifigures: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger (with her Otter Patronus), Luna Lovegood (with Hare Patronus)
LEGO Harry Potter Forbidden Forest (75967)
The centaurs that inhabit the Forbidden Forest from Harry Potter Order of the Phoenix.
Price: 29.99 Euro | Minifigures: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Dolores Umbridge, Two Centaurs (features a new horse base and torso, probably similar to the new mini leg part used for the minifig character of Hickory in LEGO Trolls World Tour Lonesome Flats Raft Adventure 41253). It also features a buildable Grawp, the giant and maternal half-brother of Hagrid.
LEGO Harry Potter Escape from Privet Drive (75968)
The LEGO Harry Potter Escape from Privet Drive (4728) set will have a re-release for 2020.
Price: 69.99 Euro | Minifigures: Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Dobby, Vernon Dursley, Petunia Dursley, and Dudley Dursley. This set is practically a re-release of set 4728 from 2002,0 now with the inclusion of the first-ever Petunia and Dudley minifigures.
LEGO Harry Potter Astronomy Tower (75969)

Price: 99.99 Euro | Minifigures: Harry Potter, Hermione Granger, Ron Weasley, Draco Malfoy, Luna Lovegood, Neville Longbottom, Horace Slughorn, and Lavender Brown.
Perhaps the highlight and the largest set in this new wave of LEGO Harry Potter sets, this one will include a second minifig rendition of Horace Slughhorn since he was introduced in 2018’s Bricktober LEGO Harry Potter Minifigure Collection (5005254). Lavender Brown’s entry as a minifigure is also a recent addition in LEGO Harry Potter sets.
Price: 39.99 Euro. This is the first time that LEGO will be offering a solely buildable figure set under the Harry Potter theme. If you recall, a similar set was offered by Target in 2018 as a sweepstakes prize for their 20th Anniversary Potter Event. However, unlike that of the buildable BB-8 (75187) and Yoda (75255), this buildable Hedwig from Harry Potter was not offered for retail. I just hope that at 39.99 Euro, this will somehow be close to what Target has offered to the winner back then.
LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar 2020 (75981)
The LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar (75964) from last year. LEGO is continuing the tradition of releasing these sets, with the next LEGO Harry Potter Advent Calendar slated to be released in the last quarter of 2020.
It is not surprising that LEGO will continue the tradition of its Advent Calendars. However, what fans of these offerings may find a bit of a let-down is the apparent price increase of this set. From the previous price of 24.99 Euro, it is now expected to retail for 29.99 Euro instead.
LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures Series 2 (71028)
Another series of LEGO Harry Potter Collectible Minifigures will arrive this September following 2018’s Series 1 (71022).
Price: 3.99 Euro/blind bag. It is now confirmed that the LEGO Harry Potter theme will now see its second CMF series following 2018’s Series 1 (71022). We can expect a release date of sometime in September this year, with the included Harry Potter minifigure characters still kept as a closely guarded secret.
So far this is what we know about the LEGO Harry Potter Summer 2020 sets that were said to be revealed at the Nuremberg Toy Fair. We’ll continue to update this page once more info comes in. Thanks again to Promobricks for the heads up.
The last day of the Nuremberg Toy Fair saw even more LEGO summer sets to watch out for during the second half of the year. And it looks like LEGO is on fire when it gave toy fair participants a glimpse of its next wave of LEGO Hidden Side summer sets, considering that the second wave of this spooky-fun theme is still in the market.
It is interesting to note that Promobricks describe this set as somewhat of a mech-type, capable of transforming from an assuming fire truck to a ghostly possessed mech. If this will be indeed the case, then I think this will be the first time that we will be getting a LEGO set that actually “transforms” into a mech-build.
LEGO Hidden Side Castle of Mystery (70437)

The Vampyre Castle (9468) from the LEGO Monster Fighters theme may be the inspiration behind the LEGO Hidden Side Castle of Mystery.
The Ghost Castle is expected to be the largest LEGO Hidden Side summer set in this wave. What is particularly exciting about this is the fact that it carries some similarities from LEGO’s now discontinued LEGO Monster Fighters Vampyre Castle (9468) from 2012. Eventually, the Ghost Castle will be the first-ever castle build under the LEGO Hidden Side theme.
LEGO Hidden Side J.B.’s Submarine (70433)
Price: €19.99 | Minifigures: 3
Promobricks noted that this set is somehow similar to what you can expect from LEGO City sets. Nevertheless, it is also a nice addition to the collection of vehicles under the LEGO Hidden Side theme.
LEGO Hidden Side Supernatural Race Car (70434)
Price: €29.99 | Minifigures: 3
The LEGO Hidden Side Supernatural Race Car (70434) will follow a hot rod design akin to this LEGO Technic Hot Rod (42022) set.
This set follows a hot rod design in a predominantly Dark Green color scheme. At the price point of 30 Euro, it is possible that it may follow a similar scale as that of the LEGO Technic Hot Rod (42022) from 2014.
LEGO Hidden Side Abandoned Prison of Newbury (70435)
Price: €39.99 | Minifigures: 4
Another first for the Hidden Side series, this Abandoned Prison build features a few weathered, prison walls. It looks somehow incomplete, giving it a similar impression as that of the Newbury Subway (70430).
Please bear in mind that the set names of these LEGO Hidden Side summer sets are not yet final, and may be subject to change as LEGO see it fit. However, we can be sure that these sets will be released sometime in June. There are no official images yet, but I’ll post some updates once they come in.
Based on the 1968 musical adventure fantasy film of the same title, the UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang recreates the iconic car with all its hidden (but useful) features and multi-purpose functionalities. Fans of this classic film will easily recognize the folding wings and the picnic basket at the back. The set is expected to have more or less 2,000 LEGO pieces with two minifigures: Caractacus Potts and Truly Scrumptious.

UCS Chitty Chitty Bang Bang
The model has undergone some significant improvements, one of which is a hinged bonnet that folds up to reveal a huge old 4-cylinder engine! The parts count has also been reduced by a few hundred pieces, and the metal-work has had a bit of a polish.
Chitty is a UCS-style model comprising just over 2,000 pieces. And just as before, she comes complete with folding wings and picnic basket and offers a wide variety of building techniques and loads of playability.

After officially revealing its next LEGO Ideas set, LEGO has released a designer video for the LEGO Ideas International Space Station (21321), giving us a glimpse at the creative process behind this set. This brick-built version of the ISS was brought to life by LEGO Designer Corvin Stichert and LEGO Ideas Design Manager Sam Johnson. In this designer video, both of them talked about their passion for space exploration and the challenges that they hurdled in designing this set.

The brainchild of LEGO fan designer Christoph Ruge (aka XCLD over at LEGO Ideas), this set is actually a scaled-down version of his initial product idea that was submitted in the LEGO Ideas platform. Eventually, the LEGO ISS was approved to be a microscale model, while maintaining all the significant details of the original space station. To ensure that the set is a faithful rendition of the original, the design team of Sam and Corvin even consulted NASA engineers and scientists. They even managed to create a sort of modular system in building the LEGO Ideas ISS, with its removable solar panels. Speaking of panels, these portions of the build are pretty impressive. Their size, despite being made up of mostly printed tile pieces (which is very welcomed), and held together by plates and Technic axle pieces, adds a certain dimension that makes the LEGO Ideas ISS stand out as a grand display set. Needless to say, it will look great especially if besides the even more imposing LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309).
I guess this proves how famous this awful goose is. In just less than a month when it first debuted as a LEGO product idea, the LEGO Ideas Untitled Goose Game is now a step closer to becoming an official LEGO set after it garnered 10,000 fan votes on the LEGO Ideas platform. Based on the smash-hit video game developed by House House, this brick rendition is the creation of LEGO fan builder A Fellow Player that shows how one horrible goose can make life hilariously difficult for our hapless gardener.

The worldwide phenomenon of 2019 comes to LEGO! Enjoy life as a destructive goose in a small garden. Watch out for the gardener and his many tools! Props Included: Jam, Apple, Sprinkler, Goose Sign, Rose Bush, Carrot, Loose Foliage, Spoon, Shovel, Sun Hat, Hammer, Ice Chest, and a Key. Preferably, there would be more than one minifigure, but no others fit this scene. Some difficulties came with the printing and the post will be updated when they are fixed.
The LEGO Ideas Untitled Goose Game is the third qualifier to make it for the First 2020 Review Stage, following our first entry of the year, Mary Poppins, Cherry Tree Lane, and the Tesla Cybertruck.
