LEGO Ninjago Summer 2020 Set Images Revealed

Yesterday we had a glimpse of what to expect from the upcoming wave of LEGO Ninjago summer 2020 sets. Though what we have initially were low-res box art images, it somehow gave us a glimpse of what they have to offer. And this time around, thanks to Promobricks, we now have better images of these new LEGO Ninjago sets. A closer look reveals several interesting LEGO elements and pieces, and a new way to play with these LEGO sets. But first things first, let’s take a look at these set images.

Aside from continuing the Legacy subtheme, we also have what seems to be a new storyline for our brick heroes. Sets 71717 to 71722 highlight a new play feature wherein similar to the LEGO Super Mario sets, these Ninjago sets can be combined in a kind of boardgame mechanic set in an underground world. The Skull Sorcerer’s Dungeon (71722), aside from being the largest in this series, seems to act as the central hub for the rest of the sets as well. The result is an elaborately detailed dungeon-like obstacle course that players need to navigate. These sets also come with a brick-built dice piece and a health bar of sorts similar to a video game. The rules are not explicitly described in the box art, but LEGO made it clear that an insert will be included to explain all of these. Unlike the LEGO Super Mario theme, this setup does not require any additional electronic gadgets or implements.

Eagle-eyed LEGO fans also noticed the many new elements that were introduced in this latest wave of Ninjago sets. Lukas from Stonewars highlighted these new LEGO parts including new armor minifigure skull elements. I’m looking forward to these new pieces especially the new armor element that also acts as a shoulder guard for that matter.

As of this posting, LEGO Shop@Home hasn’t listed these LEGO Ninjago summer 2020 sets but we can assume that they will be released early in June. I’ll update these links once more info is available.

So what do you think of this latest wave of sets? Are you looking forward to these as well? Comment down below to share your thoughts.

LEGO Ninjago Summer 2020 Box Art Images Released

It seems that another third-party retailer is pretty much excited to show-off its next batch of LEGO sets. Thanks to Norwegian online shop Skvis Arena, we can now have an idea of what LEGO has in store for its LEGO Ninjago summer 2020 collection.

Following the LEGO City, Creator, and Hidden Side summer 2020 reveals, it is not surprising to see that LEGO Ninjago also has a handful of new sets to beat.  I really can’t figure out the overarching theme from this summer 2020 wave due to the rather low-quality images but we can clearly see that there will be the usual spinning implements, a new battle mech, a continuity of Legacy sets, and another 4+ set following the release of the LEGO Ninjago Kai’s Fire Dragon (71701) earlier this year.  Based on these images, my guess is that this next wave will bring our ninjas to an underground adventure against enemies buried within the depths of the earth. The new battle mech is quite impressive as well, with a better lower body design compared to previous releases.

I hope to see better images of these sets once they make their appearance at LEGO Shop@Home anytime soon. For now, let’s take a closer look.

LEGO Ninjago Golden Zane Minifigure Accessory Set (40374) Now Up at LEGO Shop@Home

Other than a LEGO City-inspired minifig set, LEGO Ninjago is also getting another minifigure pack for 2020 and it looks like it will be a kind of shoutout to one of Ninjago’s previous seasons. The LEGO Ninjago Golden Zane Minifigure Accessory Set (40374) is now listed at LEGO Shop@Home and is slated to be released on March 1st as well.

This new minifigure set is inspired by Season 3 of LEGO Ninjago released back in 2014, and includes an exclusive Golden Zane minifig together with a trio of Nindroids. Though this particular season of Ninjago introduced us to our ninja’s mysterious golden power, it seems that only two of the main Ninjago characters – Lloyd (The Golden Dragon 70503 and 70666, Temple of Light 70505, LEGO Dimensions Lloyd Fun Pack 71239) and Kai (exclusive Bricktober 2017 Ninjago Minifigure Collection 5004938) – were given their official golden power minifigures. This latest minifigure offering now adds to a relatively rare collection of LEGO Ninjago Golden Power minifigs, so I would assume that this will be popular among collectors.

Read on for the full details of this new minifig set, and you may add this to your LEGO shopping wishlist so you won’t miss out on this one once it is available.

LEGO Ninjago 2020 Set Info at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

As the Nuremberg Toy Fair goes on, the LEGO Booth has revealed some information regarding summer’s LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets. However, unlike other themes from the City, Creator, Friends, and Technic lines. They were a bit mum about the rest of the details.

Zusammengebaut is still in the halls of the International Toy Fair, reporting from the toy event. However, it seems that LEGO is still keeping a tight lid on what’s next for LEGO Ninjago, with little information being made available for attendees. Save for the set names and a couple of sets on display.

LEGO Ninjago Summer 2020 Sets
  • Spinjitzu Burst Cole (70685) – €9.99
  • Spinjitzu Burst Kai (70686) – €9.99
  • Spinjitzu Burst Lloyd (70687) – €9.99
  • Lloyd (71717) – €24.99
  • Dragon with Wu (71718) – €19.99
  • Rhinoceros (71719) – €49.99
  • Destiny’s Bounty (71720) – €69.99
  • White Dragon (71721) – €79.99
  • Dungeon (71722) €9.99

Continuing the LEGO Ninjago Legacy subtheme, the first three sets (or small packs) on the list are a sort of rehash of the classic spinning sets that were first introduced in 2012. Destiny’s Bounty (71720) set is also another envisioning of the iconic ship in the series making it the 4th set of its kind since it was released in 2012 (set 9446), 2015 (set 70738), and 2017 (set 70618). It was also mentioned that there will be a sort of gameboard features on some of these sets, with even a new, never-before-seen LEGO die element that is different from traditional ones.

70618 1
The LEGO Ninjago Movie Destiny’s Bounty (70618) is by far the largest version of this memorable ship. We’ll just have to see if its successor will be as great.

Though this new wave of LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets will continue to tie-in where the current animated series left off, details on the remaining sets are still scant. We just have to wait and see if all of these will be completely revealed once New York Toy Fair 2020 kicks off in February.

LEGO Ninjago 2020 Set Images Revealed

Some third-party retailers continue to roll-out the next wave of LEGO sets for the first half of 2020. After the reveal of 2020’s first wave of LEGO Star Wars sets, Ninjago fans are now catching a glimpse of what to expect from its Season 12 sets, and some that follow the Legacy subtheme. This latest LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets are pretty interesting both in terms of design and the new parts and elements that come with them. Those new game controller sword hilts really caught my attention, plus those new arcade pod cases/pieces offer a lot of new building possibilities.

We can also expect that these new LEGO Ninjago 2020 sets will be released at the ring of the New Year’s bell on January 1st, with some of them appearing a bit early through some retailers. Though this reveal is quite lengthy, there are still some sets missing from this reveal so be sure to stay tuned here in our blogsite for more updates. Thanks again to Promobricks for the heads up.

LEGO Ninjago Minifigure Pack (40342) and LEGO City Minifigure Pack (40344) Revealed

Earlier this week we spotted, courtesy of a French LEGO site, a Minifigure Pack Tie-In for the next MCU movie. “The Spider-Man: Far from Home” Pack (40343) has some nice exclusive character minifigs inside. But that turns out to be only one of a burst of new LEGO blister packs. These other Minifigure mini-sets are for LEGO’s own theme and franchise. There’s the LEGO Ninjago Minifigure Pack (40342) with four minifigs and a relic that splits into multiple weapons. Included are Ninjago hero Kai, baddies Pyro Snake and Ice Samurai, and adventurer archeologist Clutch Powers. He’s from the 2010 DVD-released animated movie.

LEGO Ninjago Minifigure Pack (40342)

Next up is the LEGO City Minifigure Pack (40344). From this we know that the products are all summer 2019 releases. It has two beachgoers, a surfer girl and a snorkeler. Accessories range from an ice cream cart, two animal pieces (parrot and crab).

40344 1 1

The LEGO City Minifigure Pack (40344) as an upcoming LEGO City item is a tad disconnected from the latest big-box sets of the line. As one might recall, these sets depict space and Mars exploration. The LEGO Ninjago Minifigure Pack (40342) does get extra points for having a rare character in Clutch Powers. That’s a neat addition to any expansive Ninjago character collection.

The official images shown here are from leaks picked up by Germany’s Promo Bricks and France’s Hoth Bricks. Our best regards to these European LEGO news sources for their efforts to bring the good stuff.

LEGO Ninjago 2019 Summer Sets Named at the Nuremberg Toy Fair

Contrary to speculations and rumors going around, it seems that LEGO is not yet ready to pull the plug on one of its long-running, non-licensed theme. LEGO unveiled its next collection of LEGO Ninjago sets due for a summer 2019 release, and it’s important to note that these are all original sets, and not re-released sets. This is what LEGO has unveiled at the ongoing Nuremberg Toy Fair in Germany, as reported by LEGO fan site Zusammengebaut. The most recent series of LEGO Ninjago Legacy sets were a collection of re-released sets based on the early seasons of Ninjago. This time, it looks like there will be more sets that are either dedicated to the series latest season entitled March of the Oni, or we can expect more from the TV series after this latest story arc. Whatever is the case, and fans will be happy yo agree, that we will not yet see the end of LEGO Ninjago. Here are the names of the next wave of LEGO Ninjago 2019 summer sets slated to be released sometime in August.

  • Attack of the Ice Samurai (70671)
  • Koel’s Offroad Bike (70672)
  • Fire Snake (70674)
  • Lloyd’s Titan Mech (70676)
  • Desert Glider (70677)
  • The Ice Age Fortress (70678)
70655 1
The LEGO Ninjago Dragon Pit (70655) released in 2018.

Based on their declared retail price in Euros, it seems that the Desert Glider (70677) could be the largest among these sets. Retailing for 129.99 Euros, this sizeable set could be within the same range as that of the LEGO Ninjago Dragon Pit (70655) from last year, in terms of piece count and set dimensions. We just have to wait and see until LEGO makes a full, official reveal.

Hageman Brothers to Leave LEGO Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu Series

Even as LEGO continued to bring out one new set after another on its Ninjago line the story of the relevant characters and their adventures have been told in the 3D-animated series Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu (and retold in The LEGO Ninjago Movie). The popularity of the show and its big screen counterpart was thanks to the efforts of the writing team, including brothers Dan and Kevin Hageman. But that status quo is about to change. The Hageman Brothers have shocked the LEGO-media-watching audience that they will be bowing out of the Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu writing team. This was elaborated on in a series of Twitter posts all throughout Tuesday, December 11.

You may follow all these links to read the rest.

Dan and Kevin have been part of the LEGO Ninjago animated adaptation since its beginning in 2011, and while they’re officially leaving the team after the recently-concluded Season 9, their writing contributions are said to be included in the continuing Spinjitzu storyline all the way to its milestone 100th episode.

lego-ninjago-masters-of-spinjitzu-logo

With the Hagemans going, only David Shayne and Bragi Schut remain on writer credits for Ninjago: Masters of Spinjitzu. Schut will be stepping up as head writer for the future.

Sad as it may seem, the only possible consolation that we have is the assurance that LEGO’s longest running TV show will still continue to run its course even after the Hageman Brothers are no longer at the helm of its story development. Simply said, LEGO Ninjago will not really be the same without the original, creative minds behind the series.

For the meantime, we can revisit some of the greatest LEGO Ninjago moments with 2019’s LEGO Ninjago Legacy sets slated to be released next year. There’s also a feature-length animated film to be released later next year as announced during the San Diego ComicCon 2018 last July.

New LEGO Ninjago Visual Dictionary Arriving in 2019

With the wide-ranging releases of LEGO sets and minifigures across different themes and licensed franchises, the publishing of supplementary printed material such as visual dictionaries by the likes of Dorling-Kindersley are a godsend to collectors, and also a great source of entertainment especially for fans of the properties depicted within. Speaking of visual dictionaries and DK, they first published such a volume for the LEGO Ninjago line way back in 2014. In typical LEGO book fashion, the LEGO Ninjago Visual Dictionary also included a free minifigure in the cover, that of Zane. Now, four years have passed since that first printing, and an update is welcome.

That’s why DK is bringing out a new edition of the LEGO Ninjago Visual Dictionary next year. In 128 pages of glorious color photographs, the book will bring LEGO fans and collectors up to speed with the latest releases on the Ninjago line thus far.

LEGO Ninjago Visual Dictionary

In addition to the minifigure and Ninjago set images and info, the visual guide will also include a “Beyond the Brick” section detailing how they were conceptualized and developed. An interview with the Ninjago design team and rare concept sketches and artwork can also be found between the book’s covers.

Dorling-Kindersley expects to have the LEGO Ninjago Visual Dictionary New Edition to be released in bookstores sometime in September of 2019. As expected, it’ll also come with a free minifigure, though for now, LEGO is keeping mum on the character’s identity. We’ll have to wait for later info. Preorders are also available on Amazon UK.
