Reddit Rumor: Product Descriptions for “Avengers: Endgame” LEGO Tie-In Sets – Iron Man Armor Room (76125) and Avengers Compound Battle (76131)

It’s March, and Marvel Studios’ “Captain Marvel” is premiering this week. That movie’s LEGO tie-in has already come out, with more possibly on the way. But all these might be small potatoes compared to what’s releasing next month. “Avengers: Endgame” is going to be a big end for the saga, and its own LEGO tie-ins aren’t going to be slouches.

Already we have two of the “Endgame” sets announced last year get their first official images last week. The photos of the assembled sets and minifigures does a great deal to hype LEGO fans of what they’ll get from the sets, but also what they can expect from the movie.

So far, none of the other reported LEGO tie-ins for “Avengers: Endgame” have gotten their own first looks. However, Reddit has recently posted up what are apparently set descriptions for Iron Man Armor Room (76125) and Avengers Compound Battle (76131).

Two New Endgame LEGO Set Descriptions – Unconfirmed – But I’ll Def Buy if Real! from MarvelStudiosSpoilers

As you can read from the reddit above, the tie-ins mentioned apparently are going to be elaborate set-pieces with plenty of either tech or action, fitting for their brick counts. The 524-piece Iron Man Armor Room (76125) showcases Tony Stark’s (rebuilt?) armory. It has callbacks to his various armors from past films, plus additional support infrastructure and mechanical armoring mechanism.

Meanwhile, Avengers Compound Battle (76131) sees what’s left of Earth’s Mightiest Heroes and their allies taking on Thanos right on their doorstep. Already we have a possible spoiler of Bruce Banner finally regaining the ability to Hulk out again, as he’s the only big-fig in the set aside from Thanos.

Standard disclaimers apply at this point. As Reddit itself has marked them unconfirmed, we’ll take these set descriptions for 76125 and 76131 to be rumors. We’ll now wait until LEGO confirms or denies them, probably by official images pretty soon.

Warner Bros. Boss Gives Two Cents on Under-Performance of “LEGO Movie 2”

It’s going to be close to a month now since “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” arrived in cinemas. And for all intents and purposes it couldn’t capture lightning in a jar like the original 2014 film did. At February’s end its global earnings amount only to $137.5 million.

Why did a numbered sequel to “The LEGO Movie,” which caused a LEGO products shortage in its release year, fail to recapture the original’s magic? Kevin Tsujihara, CEO of Warner Bros. Entertainment, talked briefly about “LEGO Movie 2” with the Los Angeles Times, revealing their animation group and WB Pictures, which co-produced and distributed the film, was just as surprised.

“It didn’t do as well as tracking would’ve suggested, which was a little puzzling,” said Tsujihara, also remarking how audiences and critics found the first movie fresh and different. Ultimately, he thinks that Warner Bros. Pictures and Warner Animation Group need to “rethink the experience.”

From Tsujihara’s quote, an optimistic reading is that this stumbling box office performance by “LEGO Movie 2” will not turn off Warner from making more. What they do need to work on is the “rethinking” of the viewing experience, which may have a good point.

Proposed reasons for “LEGO Movie 2” not clicking with the fandom created by “The LEGO Movie” include franchise fatigue. After all, there were “LEGO Batman” and “LEGO Ninjago” movies before the actual storyline sequel was announced. The studios’ choice of rehashing the original’s marketing campaign may have also significantly contributed.

First LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Endgame Official Images Released

I guess LEGO sets with titles such as this is quite hard to contain. To begin with, this is not a leak, but an official listing coming from, and thanks to, Amazon France. We’re just counting the weeks before we see Avengers: Endgame in theaters and now, thanks to Amazon’s regional portal in France, we now have our first official look at the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Endgame tie-in sets. Minor spoilers ahead so view them at your own discretion.

We only have two sets listed for this matter, the first being the War Machine Buster (76124) coming in at 362 pieces which also includes four minifigures: 2 Outriders and Quantum Suit War Machine and Quantum Suit Ant-Man.

76124

The second set to be revealed and listed by Amazon France is the Ultimate Quinjet (76126). It has 838 pieces, with 6 minifigures: Quantum Suit Hawkeye/Ronin, Thor wielding his Stormbreaker, Rocket Racoon, and Black Widow. Interestingly, we also see what seems to be 2 Chitauri minifigures which looks to me like a more faithful rendition to their MCU counterparts – a marked improvement from how they look like in Captain America’s Avenging Motorcycle (6865) and Quinjet Aerial Battle (6869). It’s already a sort of open secret that Avengers: Endgame will rely on a time travel plot so it will not come as a surprise if we’ll see these MCU bad guys in this culminating film.

76126

Amazon France has not indicated any release date, but we can speculate that more images of additional LEGO Marvel Superheroes Avengers: Endgame sets will be released anytime soon within, perhaps within the next few weeks so stay tuned.

Thanks to Brick Heroes for the heads up.

“The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame” Out Now for PS4 and Xbox One

In terms of cinematic adaptations the adage goes, “You’ve seen the movie, now read the book.” That can refer either to the original book/s the film is based on, or promotional novelizations of major films coming out during the release period. LEGO has that too for its recent movies, but they also have other adaptations.

So the catchphrase can also go, “You’ve seen ‘The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part,’ now play the game.” That’s because the videogame version has finally come out. “The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame” is developed by TT Fusion, which also handled “The LEGO Movie Videogame.”

As with its predecessor, the new game is pretty much like any LEGO videogame based on a film narrative. The player characters, particularly Emmet, Wyldstyle and their friends, must fight enemies and navigate environments based on scenes from the films, building stuff to progress. In between stages and areas, scenes from “LEGO Movie 2” play out to move the storyline.

TT Fusion is a division of TT Games, similar to Traveller’s Tales which primarily develops the major new LEGO videogames such as “LEGO DC Super Villains” from last year. These LEGO game titles are primarily published by TT Games’ parent company, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment.

“The LEGO Movie 2 Videogame” has now been released for PlayStation 4 and Xbox One, available through gaming stores and online sources like Amazon. As we already know, there’s already DLC following on the heels of the main game itself. Meanwhile, the Nintendo Switch version will arrive on March 18.

LEGOLAND Resorts Expect Greater Ticket Sales Due to “LEGO Movie 2” and Opening of LEGO Movie World in Florida

For LEGO fans, the various LEGOLAND Resort theme parks are already places where everything is great. But in LEGOLAND Florida in particular, it’ll soon be getting an expansion section where, like the movies it is based on, “Everything is Awesome.”

Just to remind everyone, the LEGO Movie World area in LEGOLAND Florida is opening next month on March 27, as revealed by their sneak peek announcement last January. Fans will get to explore and have fun on this park section, based on the “LEGO Movie” city of Bricksburg, where they can go on new rides and eat at new restaurants.

While the expansion is only for the Florida resort, all LEGOLAND theme parks are expecting to be making awesome business at this part of the year. As Merlin Entertainments puts it, they certainly have “The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” helping to drive ticket sales for all their resorts.

For instance, while LEGOLAND Windsor in the UK has no LEGO Movie World yet, they’ve still got a grand event planned that ties in to the “LEGO Movie” sequel that premiered early this February. LEGO Movie Days will run for two-day periods over three weeks of March in LEGOLAND Windsor.

Back to LEGOLAND Florida, aside from the aforementioned LEGO Movie World itself, the Resort Hotel will also have several of its rooms re-themed after the films, with decorated walls and amenities like a Unikitty shower.

All in all, Merlin Entertainments looks to report strong profits of £271 million (before taxation) when the theme park company makes its latest full-year financial report this Thursday, February 28. And part of it is thanks to the ticket sale boost from “LEGO Movie 2.”

Stunning LEGO MOC Vignette of Battle of Crait Praised by “Last Jedi” Director

When a LEGO product line is celebrating a milestone anniversary, the brand can be counted on to celebrate that with a wide release of new LEGO sets under that banner. And everyone who has been keeping up with LEGO-related news through us would know that LEGO Star Wars is now a couple of decades old.

But sometimes, some serious commemoration of a LEGO line seems only achievable with an MOC. Let’s consider David Hall, a LEGO builder specializing in the “Star Wars” tie-in products. Ignoring naysayers’ opinion on 2017’s “The Last Jedi,” Hall has recreated that film’s climactic action sequence, the battle on Planet Crait.

In a diorama that he says contains around 100,000 bricks and which took him a year and a half to put together, David Hall made the Resistance’s last stand against the First Order look awesome, with official LEGO Star Wars sets and minifigures fighting on a custom-built Crait’s “red-salt” surface.

Such was the intricate details and intensity of the vignette’s combat choreography that Hall’s work went viral not just with LEGO/Star Wars fans but with the showbiz industry, according to Entertainment Weekly where we get this news. It probably helps that Hall’s work caught the attention of the director of “The Last Jedi”: Rian Johnson.

Johnson may be under fire from fanatical “Star Wars” fans who felt he overdid the subverting of expectations and conventions from his movie, but he certainly appreciates any franchise follower who references his film work. In two Twitter posts the filmmaker expressed how awed he was by the Battle of Crait as interpreted by Hall.

David Hall was just as appreciative, and intimated with Rian Johnson that he too dreams of becoming a film director, with the latter as inspiration. Those are brave words of support for the director of “The Last Jedi,” argued as the most divisive “Star Wars” film in the franchise’s history.

The Battle of Crait shown in Hall’s diorama was the final death knell of the anti-First Order Resistance, which over the course of the movie went from an army to just enough people to fit in the Millennium Falcon. We’ll get to see what happens to them when “Star Wars Episode IX” premieres December 20.

Exclusive Minifigure for “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” Revealed: Bacta Tank Suit Finn

Print media, as we have talked about before, is one of the integral components of a “complete” LEGO experience. This is most particular when the LEGO material in question is reference books. Thanks to their publishing partnership with UK label Dorling-Kindersley (DK), there’s always been a number of “visual dictionaries” coming out every year, detailing current LEGO product lines from sets to the collectible minifigures.

Well, way back in July of the year before, LEGO and DK announced that the latter’s “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary” was going to get a new edition. The book originally came out in 2009 and again in 2014 as the “Updated and Expanded” version.

In the same vein as so many LEGO hardbound volumes, the upcoming “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” will come with an exclusive character minifigure. Readers have had their time speculating who it might be all the rest of year 2018; now, Amazon has revealed who that character is.

916lDvOBTDL.jpg

The global online retail giant has added new information and images to their item listing for the new visual dictionary. For a brief period, their shot of the front cover showed the included minifigure to be First Order trooper-turned-Resistance fighter Finn, suited in the bacta tank as seen in his first appearance in “The Last Jedi,” healing from his injuries sustained during “The Force Awakens.”

Amazon must have realized that the cover photo was a spoiler, and has since replaced it with a blacked-out minifigure version. Thankfully other LEGO news sources have caught it before the change; this image down below is courtesy of Brickset.

Finn Bacta

Quite obviously, the additional content added to the “LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary New Edition” covers the new Disney-Lucasfilm media: “The Force Awakens,” “The Last Jedi,” and even “Solo.” The volume will be released this coming April, but an Amazon preorder now will shave 33% off the $14.71 price listed.

Make & Take the Systar Spaceship from “LEGO Movie 2” in UK LEGO Stores this Wednesday

“The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part” has just had its second weekend and is soon to clock at two weeks in cinemas. While its box office has been strong, if not as intense as its original back in 2014, its tie-in LEGO sets have been among the most anticipated products of the brand this early part of the year.

Not all “LEGO Movie 2” builds are official boxed sets and polybags. Some of them can be acquired at “Make & Take” events that LEGO holds with some of its big-name retail partners, like Barnes & Noble earlier this month.

Well, this coming Wednesday, February 19, there will be another Make & Take event for “LEGO Movie 2” happening, and this one will be in UK LEGO Stores. The subject this time is the eyeball-like alien starship of General Sweet Mayhem from the Systar System, interpreted as tie-in set 70830.

The Make & Take version of the Systar spaceship gets all the major details right, and needs only about as much pieces as might fit in an average-sized LEGO polybag. I wouldn’t say this is the best alternative if one can’t afford the full LEGO Movie Systar Ship (70830), but it’s a great collectible build.

If you need a refresher on LEGO Make & Take events, they’re only for kids within a certain age range (6-14 years old here). The event is for a limited period of time in participating UK LEGO Stores, from 4 in the afternoon to 6.

The “LEGO Movie 2” film is now ranked number 2 in the US box office (behind “Alita: Battle Angel) with a second-weekend $21 million domestic earning. As for the Sweet Mayhem’s Systar Spaceship (70830) set that the Make & Take is based on, it’s already available in stores and Shop@Home.

Massive LEGO Jurassic World Set Reveals in Preparation for “Legend of Isla Nublar” Miniseries

There’s a lot of New York Toy fair reveals done by LEGO over the weekend, both of their own original theme lines and of the major licenses they have going. While Disney-Pixar just got some of their tie-ins for this year’s “Toy Story 4” shown, Universal wasn’t far behind either.

While plans for the next “Jurassic World” film are still beyond the horizon, Universal had inked a deal with LEGO last year to do a LEGO animated spinoff “prequel” called “LEGO Jurassic World: The Secret Exhibit.” Shown on NBC last November before going to DVD last month, it proved awesome enough to warrant a whole new LEGO miniseries: “LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar.”

This LEGO animation will take place in 2012, after “The Secret Exhibit” but before the events of the first “Jurassic World,” and will show more of Owen Grady’s early days as a raptor trainer with his still-young raptors, against the backdrop of day-to-day operations in the titular Jurassic World park.

And with the new miniseries announced, came reveals of the promised new sets in the LEGO Jurassic World line. This appears to tie in to the animated LEGO Jurassic World universe, which while taking plot points from the films, has its own stories to tell.

  • Dilophosaurus on the Loose (75934) – one of those nasty venom-spitting dinos has escaped to the park premises, and it’s up to Owen Grady to track it down before it munches on park guest Hudson Harper; set features dinosaur-head concession stand and quad-copter drone model with net launcher; includes Owen, Hudson and store attendant minifigures plus dilophosaurus figure; 168 pieces for age 6+ ($19.99)

legojurassicworld75934

  • Baryonyx Face-Off: The Treasure Hunt (75935) – original Jurassic Park saboteur Dennis Nedry’s nephew Danny Nedermeyer from “The Secret Exhibit” is back with his associate Sinjin Prescott to search for buried treasure on Isla Nublar from before the days of InGen presence; instead they run afoul of a cranky Baryonyx, needing Owen and Claire to save their bacon; set features model jeep with trailer and forest riverside terrain; includes minifigs of Owen, Claire, Nedermeyer and Sinjin, plus dog and baryonyx figures and lots of neat props; 434 pieces for age 7+ ($59.99)

legojurassicworld75935

  • Triceratops Rampage (75937) – Jurassic World boss Simon Masrani is checking out the new park attractions with lab tech Allison Miles and another tourist; but when a triceratops escapes its paddock, Owen must distract it with a carrot on his ATV; set features area gate, signpost, Egg Spinner ride and electrified fences plus model ATV; minifigures of Owen, Masrani, Allison and female tourist goes with triceratops figure; 447 pieces for age 7+ ($59.99)

legojurassicworld75937

  • T-Rex vs Dino-Mech Battle (75938) – Nedermeyer has pinpointed the Isla Nublar treasure to its volcano and is moving to secure it with his dino-mech; luckily the venerable old T-Rex takes offense at him; unluckily Claire, Vic Hoskins and Owen with his raptor babies are caught in the middle on a rubber raft; set features Isla Nublar volcano terrain, dino-mech and model inflatable raft; minifigs include Owen, Claire, Hoskins and Nedermeyer, plus T-Rex figure, prop figures of baby raptors and bats, plus tranquilizer guns; 716 pieces for age 8+ ($89.99)

legojurassicworld75938

All four LEGO Jurassic World sets featured here will become available in August. Meanwhile, the “LEGO Jurassic World: Legend of Isla Nublar” miniseries will run 13 episodes and premiere later this year.

First Look at Some of the Tie-In Sets Coming in April for Disney-Pixar’s “Toy Story 4”

Around November of last year, Disney fans were surprised to learn from a teaser released that time, that the thought-to-be finished “Toy Story” film trilogy from Pixar was getting a fourth installment. It was no surprise that LEGO would be quick to announce tie-ins for the movie that is set for release this coming June.

Following a few months of speculation, fans can finally take a gander at the first official images of the LEGO Toy Story 4 sets. These items are among the many products that the legendary toy brand introduced for the first time in the New York Toy Fair this past weekend.

Here’s a quick look at four of the expected tie-ins for Disney-Pixar’s “Toy Story 4”. These sets are all of the 4+ age designation that has since replaced LEGO Junior.

  • Woody RC (10766) – something of a throwback to the original film way back in 1995; features Woody minifig, RC model racecar with remote, boxes, road cones and army men props; 69 pieces (US$9.99/$13.99 Canadian)

legotoystory4_10766.jpg

  • “Toy Story 4” RV Vacation (10769) – apparently a road trip is a major part of this film; features Jessie and LGM minifigures, Rexy mini-doll figure and Forky prop; also includes models for RV, Grand Basin toll gate and wilderness cabin front; assorted other props include skateboard, apple, hotdog, mug, plate and lamp; 178 pieces (US$34.99/$49.99 Canadian)

legotoystory4_10769

  • Buzz & Woody’s Carnival Mania! (10770) – we also know from later teasers that part of “Toy Story 4” takes place in a carnival, with some new characters; includes minifigs of Woody, Buzz, Bo-Peep and Bunny, plus Ducky prop; set features models of ice cream parlor, shooting gallery, octopus ride and two bumper cars; 230 pieces (US$49.99/$69.99 Canadian)

legotoystory4_10770

  • Carnival Thrill Coaster (10771) – another major fixture of the carnival that our heroes will have their adventures in during the movie; features three-section roller coaster with oblong track plus pizza cart; includes Buzz and LGM minifigure; 98 pieces (US$19.99/$24.99 Canadian)

legotoystory4_10771

All these sets are coming out this April, while “Toy Story 4” from Disney and Pixar will arrive in cinemas on June 21.
