Digital Videogame Store Humble Bundle Offers LEGO The Hobbit for Free

UPDATE (01/08/2019): Apparently, several news sources have been reporting that both LEGO Lord of the Rings and LEGO The Hobbit video games were now removed as well from popular PC gaming platform Steam. There’s no official word from LEGO or WB Interactive regarding this removal, but we can only speculate that this may have something to do with unresolved copyright issues.

There have been so many franchises that have been licensed with LEGO to become toy sets and other media like video games, that it’s sometimes hard to keep track of them all. Some even fade into relative obscurity years after release. For instance, WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales’ LEGO The Hobbit that came out in 2014.

For those LEGO gamers who are also fans of Tolkien’s fantasy universe – and their cinematic adaptations by Peter Jackson and New Line Cinema – there’s a unique limited-time opportunity being given by digital videogame store Humble Bundle, where they’re offering LEGO The Hobbit on Steam…absolutely free!

LEGO The Hobbit, much like other licensed LEGO games from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales, is a video game adaptation of the events from the first two Hobbit films, An Unexpected Journey and The Desolation of Smaug. It’s also notable for having a planned – but canceled – DLC expansion based on the then-unreleased third Hobbit movie, The Battle of the Five Armies.

A subsidiary of IGN, Humble Bundle offers some great prices for games in digital format, a portion of which is given to a number of charities partnered with the store. LOTR and Hobbit fans should take advantage of this offer.

More LEGO Marvel Superheroes Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) Official Images

After Yahoo News released our first batch of official images of the LEGO Marvel Superheroes Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127), additional images of this upcoming set are now uploaded via LEGO’s servers. We can now see in close detail the features of this MCU tie-in set. The most noticeable build in this set features an older version of the Quinjet in the early days of S.H.I.E.L.D.

Coming in at 307 pieces, the Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) set also comes with various play features such as a pair of flick-missile shooters which can shoot 4 projectiles at once, and an opening hatch at the back of the Quinjet. It is also our first LEGO Marvel Superheroes set that features the minifigure versions of Captain Marvel, including Skrull baddie, Talos, a younger version of Nick Fury, and Captain Marvel’s (aka Carol Danvers) pet cat Goose.

LEGO has not announced an exact release date yet, but seeing that these images are now uploaded via LEGO’s servers then it might be just a matter of days before we see them listed at LEGO Shop@Home. I know some fans are not really that happy on how this set turned out- with some citing the design of the Quinjet as somewhat bland and uninspiring. However, having Captain Marvel in her first minifigure form is good enough reason to purchase this set.

Have a Tinseltastic Christmas with The LEGO Movie 2’s Emmet’s Holiday Party

Warner Bros have released a LEGO Movie 2 short to jumpstart the most awesome holiday celebration that Apocalypseburg ever had. Even after the unfortunate events of Taco Tuesday (and in spite of Lucy’s constant brooding), there will always be a reason to celebrate the season. Emmet’s Holiday Party plan is simple: bring all the townsfolk together in the townsquare, create the coolest skating rink ever (pun intended), decorate the town for the most tinseltastic holiday party ever and light up an enormous Christmas tree that can even be seen from outer space. Sounds impossible? Well, this LEGO Movie 2 short film shows that it really isn’t. Watch the clip below and see how the gang brightens up the place.

We also see a lot of familiar characters as revealed in previous trailers: we have a chest-ridden MetalBeard, Wasteland Batman, and Benny with his new mechanical arm just to name a few. As it turns out, Lucy’s fears of calling unwanted attention from the Duplon invaders were not unfounded. We see once again the character of Sweet Mayhem and Queen Watevra Wa’Nabi watching from afar, and seemingly bent to ruin the town’s festivities. But as it turns out,they just want to give their share of holiday cheers, and to add the finishing touches to the town’s largest Christmas tree. After all, like what Emmet says, everybody deserves some peace and happiness during this holiday season.

The LEGO Movie 2’s Emmet’s Holiday Party short clip also gives us a first look at Apocalypseburg Alfred and a Christmas Sweater Batman. It will be great if they turned out to be actual minifigures, and I certainly hope that LEGO will eventually release them in future TLM2 waves or sets.

SPOTTED: New LEGO Movie 2 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) Polybag

It’s getting more and more awesome as we approach the end of this year because it means that a whole new wave of The LEGO Movie 2 sets will be out there for the taking come January 1^st. LEGO didn’t hold back on the reveals as it unveiled 19 TLM2 sets just in time before the film debuts in theaters on February 8, 2019. This time around, LEGO is expanding the roster of its TLM2 theme with the introduction of its first polybag. Reportedly spotted at Walmart stores by eagle-eyed LEGO fans, the LEGO Movie 2 Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) polybag has now find its way in eBay,which, thankfully, gives us a better view on what to expect from this polybag.

Based on the following images, this wacky, scaled down version of the sea-faring,battle-hardened pirate MetalBeard looks very much the same as that in the Battle-Ready Batman and MetalBeard (70836).Though smaller in scale, it is interesting to note that even in just 42 pieces,this smaller version of MetalBeard allows you to build him in three distinct modes: a crab-like walker, a trike, and a micro pirate ship. Obviously, these are interchangeable builds and you’ll need three of these polybags to build each of MetalBeard’s modes separately.

30528 01 — There is no doubt that MetalBeard is perhaps the most versatile character in The LEGO Movie 2 universe. 🙂

Since this has been spotted on Walmart store shelves, it is most likely that this particular polybag is a retailer-specific set. However,it is fair to assume that LEGO still has a couple of TLM2 polybags waiting to be revealed, very much the same as how they did it with the first LEGO Movie.If you recall back in 2014 LEGO released several polybags that are promotional tie-ins directly related to the first TLM film: The Piece of Resistance (30280), Micro Manager Battle (30281), and Super Secret Police Enforcer (30282).

The LEGO Batman Movie 2 Is Now In the Works

You’ve got to love breakout characters in popular media sometimes. They show up in a film or TV show in a supporting role, they become famous in their own right, and the producers create a movie or series just for them. Take for instance Batman in his LEGO minifigure form, voiced by Will Arnett and brought to life in The LEGO Movie back in 2014. He was so awesome that LEGO and WB Animation gave him the lead in The LEGO Batman Movie to great success in 2017. And from the looks of things, he’ll be back for a LEGO Batman Movie 2 as well.

None other than The LEGO Batman director Chris McKay confirmed the existence of a sequel on his Twitter page, when he replied to a late watcher of the original film asking if a Part 2 was on the way. He also reminded her of Batman’s presence in The LEGO Movie 2 in February 2019.

We are working on that rn actually! In the meantime LEGO Batman is all over LEGO 2 coming in February.

Though The LEGO Batman movie may have a different storyline as compared to that of the main LEGO Movies, it does not ignore the fact that this minfigure of the Dark Knight is still one of the greatest Master Builder that graced the big screen. In any case, it’ll be interesting to see where McKay and the production team take things from how the original ended back in 2017.

Meanwhile, we can definitely enjoy seeing a slightly different version of Batman, still voiced by Will Arnett of course, once the The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part lands in theaters on February 8, 2019.

LEGO Marvel Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) Official Images Released

The latest trailer of Captain Marvel has now landed on the web, and you may or may not like how Brie Larson sounded off when she declared that she’ll end the Kree-Skrull war, but I have to say that this does not dampen my enthusiasm in seeing this next MCU instalment when it lands in theaters in March next year. In case you missed it, here’s the 2^nd trailer of Disney and Marvel’s Captain Marvel.

Now at around the 1:15 mark, you’ll immediately notice the SHIELD Quinjet that eventually made its way to become a LEGO set, revealed to have been spotted in TRU stores in Canada. The snapped image by an eagle-eyed LEGO Marvel fan shows a sizeable brick-built version of what could be SHIELD’s early version of the famed Quinjet. It also shows Captain Marvel of course and a younger version of Nick Fury together with a Skrull minifigure. This time, thanks to Yahoo News, we now have a better look at this new MCU-inspired LEGO playset in the form of the LEGO Marvel Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127), including its official product description. Fly with Captain Marvel and Nick Fury to rescue Goose the cat from Talos the Skrull! Zoom over the desert with Fury in his awesome Quinjet. Watch out for the Talos’s stud shooter. Fire 4 missiles at once with each of the jet’s flick-missile shooters and attack with Captain Marvel’s power energy. Then grab Goose, place her in the back of the jet and fly away!

Since the LEGO Marvel Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) set has already found its way in toy shelves in TRU Canada, then we can expect this to appear anytime soon in the US, hopefully in the first weeks of January. The rumor mill also tells that there might be five LEGO tie-in sets that bear the Avengers logo, though it is unclear if LEGO opted to add another set dedicated to the Kree superhero. From the looks of it, it seems that LEGO intends to bring together all upcoming MCU-related building sets under the banner of the Marvel Avengers. I guess this is great considering how well these upcoming LEGO Marvel sets can be brought together for a massive Marvel universe showdown. We’ll soon find out soon enough.

LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie DLC Available Now

Last week, it was revealed that the LEGO DC Super-Villains video game will get a DLC pack that is directly tied up to DC’s Extended Universe. And today, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment unveiled a brand new trailer that marks the release of the game’s first Level Pack DLC that pays homage to the ruler of the Seven Seas. The LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie DLC first downloadable pack – Aquaman Movie DLC Part 1 – is now available for Season Pass holders starting today, while the second half of the DLC, Aquaman Movie DLC Part 2, will be available on January 8, 2019.

The LEGO DC Super-Villains Aquaman Movie DLC adds six level packs and four character packs that includes playable characters based on the upcoming DCEU film such as Aquaman, Black Manta, Mera, Orm, King Nereus, Queen Atlanna and many more. If you already purchased a Deluxe Edition of the game, then the Season Pass together with its DLC (Part 1) are now available to download for free. However, you may also opt to purchase the Aquaman Movie DLC as a separate bundle for $5.99 starting January 8, 2019 when the Aquaman Movie DLC Part 2 rolls out.

LEGO DC Super-Villains is now available across major video game platforms including the Playstation 4, Xbox One, Nintendo Switch and PC. Warner Bros’ Aquaman movie is slated to hit US theaters on December 21, 2018

The LEGO Movie 2’s Sweet Mayhem Alternate Figure Revealed

The LEGO Movie 2 sets are about to be released this month (right after Christmas exactly), and now that LEGO has listed the first wave of sets for this theme at shop.LEGO.com, it seems that more info is coming in regarding one of the film’s mysterious characters. The person of Sweet Mayhem is still shrouded in mystery, but thanks to LEGO Shop@Home, the character under the enigmatic helmet is now revealed.

There are three sets in particular that includes Sweet Mayhem’s minidoll figure. And among these three sets, we get to see her featured at the back portion of some these sets as posted on LEGO’s shopping portal. To be exact, only two out of three sets actually shows Sweet Mayhem with her helmet off, revealing a personality that is both sweet and chaotic at the same time. Take a look below.

She kinds of remind me of Vanellope von Schweetz from Wreck it Ralph in terms of personality. From the looks of it, my guess is that she can be both emphatic and mean at the same time. Will she turn out to be the film’s lead baddie as we thought she will based from the trailer? Will soon find out in February once the film lands in US theaters.

LEGO Marvel Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) Set Spotted in TRU Canada

Just over three months remain before the next installment of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Captain Marvel starring Bree Larson, arrives in cinemas. It doesn’t take a genius to know that LEGO also has its hand in the merchandise pie for this future blockbuster. In fact, some of the film’s tie-in sets have already been spotted. Again, a German LEGO news source – Promo Bricks this time – has brought word that once more, Toys R Us Canada has the distinction of putting a LEGO set supposed to come out in 2019 on their shelves now. It’s named the LEGO Marvel Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127).

This set is centered on a vehicle with minifigures added for an awesome action sequence. The vehicle looks very similar to SHIELD quinjet, as it probably looks like in the 1990s when the Captain Marvel film takes place. It’s armed with a pair of 4 flick-missile launchers.

Its accompanying minifigures include Carol Danvers/Captain Marvel, young SHIELD Agent Nick Fury, Carol’s pet cat Goose, and the Skrull infiltrator Talos, who himself is armed with a pistol that has a spring-loaded projectile. Accommodations on the quinjet include a one-pilot cockpit and cargo or passenger space accessible by rear hatch.

For now, the only price known for the Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) is at a Canadian price of $39.94 CAD on that country’s Toys R Us stores. Rough conversions would be US$29.99, £23.65 and €26.62, though there’s no further news on when this tie-in might be available outside Canada. Meanwhile, Captain Marvel premieres March 8, 2019.
