The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) has just been revealed and to celebrate the occasion, LEGO dares us to travel what it refers to as the hardest to reach LEGO Store in the world. Well, that is for two highly competitive adventurers willing to take on the college.
Where Can You Find the Hardest to Reach LEGO Store?
The scene is somewhere in the remote Scottish Highlands, where two of the most adventurous travelers go head-to-head to be the first to land at the hardest to reach LEGO Store on the planet.
As you can see, it’s not the typical LEGO Store that we are used to. The LEGO Group came up with the idea of placing a brightly colored yellow Land Rover on top of the Scottish Highlands (complete with its iconic logo and signboard) and see who will be able to first reach this remote location.
It’s a showdown between two fierce adventurers – Raha Moharrak, the first Saudi woman to climb Mount Everest and the Seven Summits, as she takes on Aldo Kane, a native Scottish explorer and extreme locations expert, in a thrilling competition to reach the remote LEGO Store and build the new set. Watch this.
It’s a pretty cool marketing ad actually, keeping in line with the sense of awe and adventure that comes with the Land Rover brand. And now that we have another building set to celebrate the adventurer in us in the form of this latest brick-built offering, it’s time to grab those bricks again and embark on your very own building adventure.
The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) is slated to arrive in (actual) LEGO Stores starting April 4, 2023. For more information, visit LEGO.com.
The LEGO Icons’ portfolio has been expanded to include another attractive set to inspire your next off-road adventure. Based on the classic design of the Land Rover, the release of the LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 also marks the iconic vehicle’s 75th anniversary.
The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 Celebrates a Classic
If this build is somewhat familiar to you, you might recall that this is the 2nd time LEGO will offer a set based on the Land Rover. A similar LEGO Land Rover Defender (42110) set was released last year under the Technic theme. However, this recent offering gives it a more adventurous tone with its classic green sage look, and tons of traveling and camping gear.
The LEGO Icons Land Rover Classic Defender 90 (10317) comes in at 2,336 pieces and will be available starting April 4, 2023, retailing for $239.99. Read on for the set’s full product description and take a closer look.

It looks like LEGO is backing off from its planned reveal of the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom. Read on to know more.
Earlier today, LEGO fans all over were buzzing with excitement as the highly anticipated LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets were finally revealed. Despite a few leaks from the rumor mill since 2022, fans were thrilled to finally get an official reveal of what the sets would entail.
Why is the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom No Longer Releasing?
However, eagle-eyed enthusiasts quickly noticed that one anticipated set that was announced was conspicuously missing from this lineup. Unfortunately, it seems that the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom (77014) will not be making its debut eventually.
Is the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom (77014) set canceled eventually? Image courtesy of Brickset.
A Look Back at the History of LEGO Indiana Jones Sets
As you may recall, a previous version of LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom was offered by LEGO back in 2009 with set 7199. And since early leaks of a remake of this set have circulated already, fans were already expecting that four LEGO Indiana Jones should be in order.
In fact, images and box art of the modern LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom set have also been shared online months prior to the theme’s official comeback. So it’s understandable, to say the least, that such an absence of the set in question left most LEGO fans a bit perplexed.
LEGO’s Official Statement
LEGO has yet to make an official statement about the absence of the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom’s absence, but a word from the LEGO Ambassador Network (LAN) may give us a hint about the future of this set.
Throughout 2022, the LEGO Group worked closely with Lucasfilm to optimize our planned product line up for the upcoming LEGO Indiana Jones product launches in April 2023. As an outcome of this, we consolidated the launch to focus on three products (77012, 77013, 77015 ) that feature some of the most iconic scenes from the Indiana Jones franchise. We hope our fans love the new range and can’t wait to get their hands on them.
Well as always, LEGO is neither denying nor confirming anything about the future of the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom (77014) set in this statement. But reading between the lines, it’s quite apparent that LEGO purposively left out this set and will most likely not launch this product anytime soon.
From a corporate perspective, I understand LEGO’s seemingly apprehensive stance about the release of this controversial set. Well, it’s not that the set itself is controversial, but the film or scene from the film that it recreates.
Indiana Jones and The Temple of Doom was released in 1984, back in those days when racial stereotypes abounded in Hollywood films. That scene in particular when one of the film’s antagonists, Mola Ram, is included and eventually made its way as an official minifigure in 2009, is something that the LEGO Group may be weary about.
Not only because of the gruesome ritualistic sacrifices that this character in the film did (like tearing away a beating heart from a live human sacrifice) but also the potential harm that culturally inaccurate portrayals may do to people of color and other communities.
The first LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom (7199) set was released in 2009.
These set cancellations are not really new as far as the LEGO group is concerned. There were numerous occasions in the past when LEGO needed to cancel a set that was eventually slated to be officially revealed. But in case you’re curious about what the LEGO Indiana Jones The Temple of Doom (77014) has to offer, what we do know is that it comes with 6 minifigures including the characters of Short Round, Willie Scott, Indy, Mola Ram, and two Temple Guards. It is also expected to retail between $85-$90 and clocks in at 801 pieces.
As I’ve mentioned, the LEGO Group itself has not released any official statement regarding this missing (or perhaps, canceled) set. It is also understandable if LEGO will eventually forego the idea of offering this re-release all throughout as it doesn’t align with their values. And also as a way of avoiding further criticism as well. We just have to wait and see in the following weeks.
After an early look was provided by other LEGO retailers, LEGO.com has finally listed and unveiled the three new LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets to celebrate the return of cinema’s most iconic adventurer. Fans can now get their hands on these thrilling new sets and embark on their own LEGO Indiana Jones adventures, as they recreate some of the most unforgettable moments from the beloved film series.
Check Out These Exciting LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 Sets
These three LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets are all scheduled to be released on April 1st, months ahead before the upcoming Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny comes out in June. Though these sets are not exactly tie-in sets as far as the 5th movie in the Indiana Jones franchise is concerned, these are nonetheless a great way of recreating some of the most memorable scenes in past films.
You may also notice that there is one particular set missing from this list of LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets which was originally intended to be a part of this series. I’ll talk more about that in a separate post.
For now, let’s take a look at these newly listed LEGO Indiana Jones 2023 sets together with their respective product descriptions. You may also click on their respective affiliate links to know more.

Since the launching of the LEGO Lord of the Rings: Rivendell set, many LEGO fans have taken to the internet to share their own LEGO LOTR MOC (My Own Creations), showing their love for this once prolific LEGO theme, especially over at Flickr. So in honor of LEGO’s Lord of the Rings theme’s 10th-year anniversary, I’ve put together a gallery of 15 amazing brick-built LEGO LOTR MOC vignettes that deserve a second look.
This collection features some of the best LEGO LOTR fan builders out there and highlights their collective work in giving key moments of the LOTR trilogy a unique LEGO twist. LEGO fan builders Thorsten Bonsch, Jonas Kramm, Marcel V., Forlorn Empire, and Grant Davis came up with a brilliant idea to recreate the highlights of the Lord of the Rings Trilogy through a series of brick-built vignettes that underscores each MOC (my own creation) builder’s unique techniques.
As of today, Grant Davis is the last builder tasked to cap off and render the final scenes of The Return of the King, and I have to say that his building techniques are pretty awesome. Here are the rest of the finished creations by these talented builders. I hope they inspire you to create your very own LEGO LOTR MOC as well.
Some of the Coolest LEGO LOTR MOC Vignettes Ever Built
There are so many impressive building techniques that were highlighted in these creations that it’s quite difficult to decide which is my favorite. That brick-built Loudwater River vignette by Thorsten Bonsch is as impressive as the theatrical scene itself, using clear transparent bricks to recreate the magical currents conjured by Arwen.
The Mighty Balrog never fails to amaze me, especially when Jonas Kramm managed to capture its overwhelming presence in his version of the Bridge of Khazad-dum. Building this is quite a feat in itself, considering the challenge of building a towering figure in such a small space.
You can also feel the terror on Sam and Frodo’s faces in this Osgiliath-Nazgul scene recreated by Marcel V. You can also imagine the fear and uncertainty in the hearts of our heroic Hobbits throughout their seemingly impossible climb at the treacherous steps of Cirith Ungol, as envisioned by LEGO LOTR MOC builder ForlornEmpire.
But perhaps Grant Davis’ recreations truly won my heart, especially with his cleverly genius use of LEGO parts. That scene where Sam went face-to-face against Shelob was a testament to Grant’s outstanding creativity. His clever use of rubber wheel pieces gave this unsightly arachnid an almost realistic LEGO rendition. That entrance into Shelob’s lair is also noteworthy, with Grant’s painstaking re-creation of an entangled web. And finally, that Siege of Gondor vignette simply defies gravity as the impact of the boulder sends the tower’s debris all around. It’s as if Flash entered this scene and everything is frozen in time.
If you like these outstanding MOCs, please do these uber-talented builders a favor and follow their Flickr pages where they feature the rest of their creations. Which of these LEGO LOTR MOCs blows you away? Let me know in the comments below.

In case you tuned in to LEGO’s live stream of its upcoming LEGO Super Mario sets yesterday, then you’ll be glad to know that aside from a new expansion set, fans of Nintendo’s iconic gorilla will also have his very first official LEGO set in the form of an upcoming LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong set!
LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong Revealed!
The reveal was made by host Jack Gardner over at LEGO’s YouTube channel. You can catch a sneak peek of this exciting new set below.
Not so much was mentioned with this set, save from the title card that reads LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong. But from the looks of it, it seems that this first brick rendition of DK will unlock new features from the Mario, Luigi, and Peach starter packs. It looks like this feature will be activated once these starter packs are mounted or joined together with LEGO Super Mario Donkey Kong. It’s quite unsure yet if LEGO’s Donkey Kong will be part of a larger expansion set, or will be a stand-alone one. We just have to wait and see in the coming months.
From the get-go, this build is not very much different in terms of height as compared to the LEGO Mario figure. The printed tile for his eyes is also spot-on, accurately catching the looks of Nintendo’s legendary gorilla. I would also like to commend the designers here for their decision to actually provide molded hands for DK.
Hopefully will get to see more details about this in the next few weeks. And with more LEGO Super Mario sets to be unveiled in the coming days, I’m still keeping my fingers crossed for actual Mario and Luigi minifigures. It’s certainly a possibility especially now that promotions for Illumination’s The Super Mario Bros. Movie are now in full swing. The film is scheduled for a theatrical release starting April 5, 2023.
