March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar Out Now

LEGO has now published its March 2020 Store Calendar and with it, we can catch a glimpse of the various promos that will kick-start our spring brick-building. For starters, the upcoming LEGO DOTS customizable accessory kits take center stage in this monthly store calendar, together with other spring-themed building activities. Let’s check out the details.

Free Exclusive LEGO Trains 40th Anniversary Set (40370)

Promo period: March 1-15, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

We first spotted this set last month, with some sketchy details on when and how it will be available. Like other commemorative sets, this one will be exclusively available in all LEGO stores and at LEGO Shop@Home for a single-receipt, qualifying purchases of any LEGO merchandise worth $99 and above. Expect this to be popular among AFOLs especially those who are fans of LEGO Train sets. There are plenty of LEGO fan websites that already gave their thoughts about this set, and it only makes me more excited to have it. This is one set that I’m looking forward to adding to my collection.

Free LEGO DOTS Mini Frame (30556)

Promo period: March 9-22, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

30556 1

Further expanding the creative possibilities of the LEGO DOTS theme, LEGO is throwing another freebie with this exclusive polybag offering. Fans can expect this new LEGO DOTS Mini Frame (30556) to be added to their cart once their purchases reach a minimum of $35 or more anytime between March 9 to 22.

Free LEGO Easter Egg (40371)

Promo period: March 23-April 13, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar

Here’s a cute, little Easter surprise from LEGO. Every LEGO purchase that you make from March 23 to April 13 worth $50 and above will entitle you to a free customizable LEGO Easter Egg (40371) set. Though we do not have official images of this promotional item, on the get-go we can see that its design is somewhat similar to what LEGO released in the UK back in 2004 (sets 4212850 & 4212852). Its retail value of $12.99 may also suggest that this free set will clock in at more or less 100 pieces. The brick-built chick is a cute addition to this freebie, with the yellow and green color scheme perfectly complementing the vibrant mood of spring. Be sure to check this out towards the last week of March if you want to bag this one.

Free LEGO Easter Bunny (30550)

Promo period: March 23-April 13, 2020

March 2020 LEGO Store Calendar 30550 1

It seems that LEGO intends this next freebie to complement its LEGO Easter Egg promo. For a minimum single-receipt purchase worth  $30 or more, you’ll get to add the LEGO Easter Bunny (30550) for free. It’s a pretty neat set to add to the LEGO Easter Egg, where you can have both sets once your purchase reaches a $50 price point.

06 03 March Calendar US Page 2

Participants ages 6 to 18 can visit their local LEGO Store on March 19 to create their own LEGO DOT accessory and bring it home for free as a gift for their selves. However, LEGO DOT bracelets (sets 41900, 41901, 41902, 41903 & 41912) needed for these accessories are sold separately. This building event requires in-store pre-registration beginning March 6.

Other than the LEGO DOTS sets, there are plenty more to watch out for once March kicks in such as the LEGO Spider-Man Venom Crawler (76163), LEGO Marvel Black Widow’s Helicopter Chase (76162), the LEGO Ninjago Golden Zane Minifigure Accessory Set (40374), and LEGO Fairground Minifigure Accessory Set (40373) to name a few. If you time your next LEGO purchase accordingly, it’s possible to get the commemorative LEGO Train 40th Anniversary Set and the LEGO DOTS Mini Frame in one go. It is also the same for the LEGO Easter-themed freebies since they are offered within the same promo period.

Upcoming LEGO Train (40370) Set Celebrates the Theme’s 40th Anniversary

It is clear by now that LEGO loves to celebrate many of its milestones with sets that reflect a particular theme’s humble beginning. From LEGO 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) to the LEGO Creator Expert Assembly Square (10255), these sets serve as a great reminder of how these themes have begun and endured even until today. And from the looks of it, another set will be offered by LEGO as a way of celebrating one of its early sets that were loved by many AFOLs even until today. The LEGO Train (40370) could be the next promotional set that you may want to watch out especially if you’re a fan of these types of commemorative builds.

According to Promobricks, the promotional LEGO Train (40370) set will be an anniversary set that marks the 40th anniversary of the LEGO Train theme. Frankly, I’m not sure why LEGO pegged 1980 as the birth of the theme since there has been a good number of train sets that were released already as early 1966. Anyhow, the LEGO Train (40370) set is a replica of the Push-Along Steam Engine (7810) from 1980 and comes with the very same train attendant minifigure. It also comes with a display base and a special 40th-anniversary tile. I’m not sure if this will be a sticker or a printed tile since its hard to see from this low resolution that is being shared over on Instagram. It will certainly be nice if LEGO will opt for a printed tile for this set like what it did with its past exclusive promotionals.

There are no further details except for this image, but you can expect that I will update this post once more information comes in about this commemorative set.

LEGO VIP Rewards Center Offers The Chance to Win a LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam Minifigure

Here’s another treat from LEGO, and it looks like the LEGO VIP Rewards Center got more interesting. Following a rather indefinite hiatus, the revamped LEGO VIP Rewards Center was now updated to include several highly-prized LEGO exclusives that you may have likewise missed. As reported by Allen from The Brick Fan, the Rewards Center has now added a sweepstake where VIP members can have the chance to win an uber-exclusive LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam Minifigure.

LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam
The exclusive LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam minifigure which was raffled away during San Diego Comic-Con 2012 will now be available as a reward item at the LEGO VIP Reward Center.

The mechanics are pretty simple. You use your LEGO VIP points to purchase raffle entries in order to join. Each raffle entry for this LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam Minifigure will cost you 50 VIP points, while you are allowed to submit up to 15 entries to up your chances of winning.

Furthermore, this minifigure sweepstakes promo, according to the  LEGO Ambassador Network, will be a regular part of the LEGO VIP Rewards Center starting with the LEGO SDCC 2012 Shazam Minifigure. Other future minifigure raffles will include a signed Star Wars minifigure and an exclusive version of a Marvel character. Though I’m not really a fan of exclusive, event-specific LEGO releases, I just hope these future prizes will include never-before-seen minifigure characters from these franchises. Or it could be from their non-licensed repertoire like the return of Mr. Gold (71001) perhaps.

Other rewards to be added later on will also include a designer signed copy of the LEGO Star Wars UCS Imperial Star Destroyer (75252) worth $700 and signed copies of a new edition of the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary.

Here’s the news as it is from the LEGO Ambassador Network.

Reward Centre-specific items, we are looking to kick off our first Exclusive minifigure sweepstake in February with a 2012 San Diego Comic-Con “Shazam!” minifigure where people from the following countries are allowed to participate***. VIP Members can enter the competition by redeeming 50 VIP points (up to a maximum of 15 entries) with the winner being drawn at random (postcard entries applicable where local law dictates).

The Rewards team intend to operate these sweepstakes every month starting 10th February and running until 2nd March for Shazam! Upcoming minifigure sweepstakes will include a signed Star Wars minifigure and an exclusive version of a Marvel character.

With regards to other items upcoming on the Reward Centre (dates to be confirmed) are designer-signed Imperial Star Destroyer sets and designer-signed Star Wars Visual Dictionary copies.

LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408) Official Images Released

Other than the LEGO Year of the Rat (40355) promotional and the LEGO Star Wars Obi-Wan Collectible Minifigure (30624) that are both available this month, LEGO fans who will time their next LEGO purchases just right may avail of another promotional freebie on top of these aforementioned LEGO giveaways. If you recall from this month’s LEGO Store Calendar, the LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408) set is the next free item slated to be added to your cart if you will make your next LEGO purchase from January 24 until February 9.

LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408)

LEGO servers are now updated to include a couple of official images of the LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408) set. This item comes to you free for every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products worth $45 and above. As I’ve mentioned earlier and as long as supplies last, you may want to try to place in your LEGO purchases at LEGO Shop@Home or in-store from January 24 to 26 if you want to avail both the exclusive Year of the Rat (40355) set and the Drag Racer (40408). And if you’ll throw in any LEGO Star Wars sets worth $40 and above, you’ll also get the collectible Obi-Wan minifig. So for a total worth of LEGO sets (including Star Wars) of $80 or more, you can bag all three promos in one go. That’s great value for your money if you’ll ask me.

40408 alt1 40408 alt2

The LEGO Hidden Side Drag Racer (40408) comes in at 134 pieces, including two Jack and Dwayne minifigures. The build itself features a human cannonball kind of play function where you can place a minifig inside the cannon placed at the back of the car. The driver cockpit also seems to be wide enough to accommodate a minifigure.

This latest Hidden Side promotional is the second freebie to be offered under LEGO’s augmented reality theme, following the release of LEGO Hidden Side Newbury Juice Bar (40336) from last year. For more info on the latest LEGO Hidden Side sets, be sure to visit shop.LEGO.com.

LEGO The United Trinity (6322264) Minifigures Promotional Revealed

The next LEGO Creator Expert set for this year has already been revealed, and as expected from LEGO, it looks like their throwing in some perks for those who will be purchasing the LEGO Creator Expert  Old Trafford-Manchester United (10272) set. As reported by the Brickfinder, the LEGO The United Trinity (6322264) minifigure set will be the gift-with-purchase freebie slated to be added to your cart if you have plans of getting this impressive replica eventually.

LEGO The United Trinity (6322264)

According to a flyer shared via Instagram by AFOL Dylan Chow, the LEGO The United Trinity (6322264) is available at the LEGO brand store in China as an early VIP member gift for those who will get the Old Trafford-Manchester United (10272). This freebie features the renowned Manchester United players – George Best (#10), Denis Law (#10), and Sir Robert “Bobby: Charlton (#9) –  whose statues are boldly displayed near the entrance of the stadium.

the united trinity

Their minifig counterparts have the standard red jersey that the team has been known for. I just hope that LEGO added some bit of exclusivity on these prized minifigs by having the Manchester United logo printed in front of their torsos aside from their jersey numbers at the back.

It is not exactly clear if this gift-with-purchase set will only be available to LEGO fans in China but my best guess is that it will also be available elsewhere especially in Europe where majority of the Manchester United fans are located. In fact, Stonewars have also reported that this promotional exclusive will also be offered in Germany. I’ll keep you posted once more info comes in, so be sure to subscribe to our blog and turn on your web notifications.

The LEGO Creator Expert Old Trafford-Manchester (10272) comes in at 3,898 pieces and is expected to retail for $299.99. It is available for early LEGO VIP access beginning January 16, and to the rest of the world on February 1, 2020.

LEGO Year of the Rat (40355) Official Images Released

For every single-receipt purchase of any LEGO products or merchandise worth $80 and above from January 13 to 26 will entitle you to an exclusive LEGO Year of the Rat (40355) set as a way of celebrating the upcoming Chinese Lunar New Year.

And if you want to see what you can expect from this set, LEGO servers are now updated to include several official images of this set. Take a look.

LEGO Year of the Rat (40355)

LEGO Year of the Rat (40355)

LEGO Year of the Rat (40355) LEGO Year of the Rat (40355)

Similar to last year’s LEGO Year of the Pig (40186) promotional set, this newest member of the Chinese zodiac-inspired LEGO set comes with a variety of play features and points of articulation. It comes in 162 pieces and has posable ears and paws and a movable tail and head. It comes with a bit of LEGO foliage pieces on top of a circular base similar to its predecessors.

We can expect the LEGO Year of the Rat (40355) promotional set to go live by Monday, January 13. If you’re into collecting these LEGO Chinese New Year exclusives, then be sure not to miss out on this freebie starting Monday until January 26. This is the 6th LEGO set of its kind, following the LEGO Year of the Pig (40186) released last year; LEGO Year of the Dog (40235) in 2018; LEGO Year of the Rooster (40234) in 2017; LEGO Year of the Monkey (40207) in 2016; and LEGO Year of the Sheep (40148) in 2015.

Add the LEGO Newsstand to Your Sprawling LEGO Town or City!

This week, LEGO has launched its first build-and- take in-store event of the year that most LEGO fans will love to have. The LEGO Newsstand is actually a nice mini build that complements this year’s modular LEGO Creator Expert Bookshop(10270) which was released at the turn of the year. And in case you missed out on this opportunity of grabbing the LEGO Newsstand, you’ll be happy to know that Instagram user theflannelbrick has uploaded and shared its building instructions so let’s take a look.

Coming in at 155 pieces, the LEGO Newsstand features plenty of small parts that can be a bit challenging for newbie LEGO builders. Nevertheless, the final build, notwithstanding the instability of the shelf, is pretty much impressive in itself. As a free set, I really appreciate what LEGO did here: throwing in a minifigure with accessories, two printed newspaper tile, and several hard to find parts like those trans clear blue flag pieces used for the roof. If LEGO opted to make this as a retail set, then it will certainly hit the $10 or more price point, giving us a vignette kind of set similar to what LEGO offers with its seasonal sets. Remember smaller seasonal sets like 2015’s Painting Easter Eggs (40121) and Thanksgiving Feast (40123) and you’ll get the idea.

LEGO Newsstand

As I said, I’m not just quite sure if the rest of the parts are readily available but you can still try to search for them over at Bricklink.

The LEGO Creator Expert Bookshop (10270) is currently available at LEGO Shop@Home retailing for $179.99. It features a 3-story modular build that comes with a display window, reading nook, an open-out design, and five (5) minifigs. If you’re still planning to get this set and wish to know more, just click on the link above.

Special thanks to Promobricks for the tip.
