The LEGO Marvel Daily Bugle (76178) Clocks In As the Tallest LEGO Marvel Set Ever

This week saw a lot of overwhelming official LEGO Marvel reveals, and it looks like this is a great week for LEGO Marvel fans. Aside from the official reveal of this year’s summer wave of Infinity War-inspired sets, LEGO has also revealed the mammoth-sized LEGO Marvel Daily Bugle (76178) set.

Standing at over 80cm or almost 3 feet, the LEGO Marvel Daily Bugle (76178) clocks in at 3,770 pieces and features a whopping 25 minifigures including exclusive minifigs of Daredevil, the Punisher, and the iconic Daywalker, Blade. This being an 18+ set, I can perfectly understand why this will be a must-have for LEGO Marvel fans considering the exclusivity of the minifigures that comes with it.

In case you missed its official reveal a couple of days ago, you may want to mark your calendars for its expected release date on June 1, 2021. You may also have to break that brick bank considering that this set will be retailing for 300 bucks.

More LEGO Star Wars Helmets Revealed – Now Up at LEGO Shop@Home

After its initial launch in March of last year, LEGO has now added more Instagram-worthy sets under its LEGO Star Wars Helmets collection. And this time around, the Empire is getting another boost with the introduction of the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Helmet (75304), and the Scout Trooper Helmet (75305).

These latest additions to the LEGO Star Wars Helmets feature some of the most iconic figures in Star Wars lore. This most recent version of the Sith Lord is by far his largest brick sculpture to date. If you recall back in 2019, LEGO has also released a Target-exclusive LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Bust (75227) as part of LEGO’s promotional event in celebrating LEGO Star Wars’ 20th anniversary. However, this year’s offering c0mes with almost 3 times the number of LEGO pieces compared to its predecessor.

Additionally, the LEGO Star Wars Scout Trooper Helmet (75305) comes as the third Imperial-inspired set among the LEGO Star Wars Helmet collection, following that of the Stormtrooper Helmet (75276) and TIE Fighter Pilot Helmet (75274). It will be great if LEGO will also come up with a Rebel Pilot Helmet of some sort to balance things out. We just have to wait and see.

ICYMI: LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283) Landing this April

In case you missed it, the LEGO Group has officially announced another set that celebrates their creative collaboration with NASA. Unveiled earlier this week, the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283) celebrates the launch of the original NASA STS-31 together with the Hubble Space Telescope in 1990.

The commemoration of this historic event is now immortalized in LEGO form through the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discvovery (10283) set, slated to arrive this April. And what better way to launch (no pun intended) this set is by having the first-ever American woman astronaut to have ever walked on space introduce this latest LEGO-NASA collab. Dr. Kathy Sullivan was even kind enough to even share some of her insights as a pioneering astronaut, and to encourage budding LEGO builders, engineers, and scientists to pursue a career in space exploration.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Cowl (76182) Revealed

After unveiling its LEGO Marvel Carnage (76199) brick helmet a couple of weeks ago, a third-party retailer now gives us a look at another LEGO buildable display set following the same genre. Similar to Target’s reveal, Barnes and Noble has now published official images of the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman Cowl (76182), scheduled to arrive on April 26.

If you were following the rumor train on this one, you have probably seen what this new LEGO DC Super Heroes Batman Cowl has to offer. Coming in at 410 pieces, the model stands at 22 centimeters and is geared primarily towards the adult LEGO fan community. It follows the same design concept as that of the LEGO Marvel Carnage, even coming with a similar nameplate intended for display purposes. And given that the brick-version of Marvel’s Carnage is expected to retail for $60, then it goes to show that its DC counterpart may likewise sell within the same price range as well.

As of this posting, B&N seems to have removed the LEGO Batman Cowl over its shopping portal (oops, I guess someone was quite excited for the reveal) and is still yet to appear over at LEGO Shop@Home. I’ll update you as soon as more information comes up. Thanks to Hoth Bricks for the tip.

ICYMI: LEGO Creator Expert Botanical Collection Coming in 2021

It looks like LEGO is pushing forward with its plans of furthering wooing the AFOL community. This recent wave of third-party retailer reveals shows that there are a couple of LEGO 18+ sets on the horizon, and these sets look promising. From the short-lived LEGO Forma series to more recent LEGO mosaic offerings, now comes another series that is marketed to be one ultimate brick zen experience: the LEGO Creator Expert Botanical Collection is expected to arrive soon sometime in January next year. These bonsai and bouquet inspired sets are both reminiscent of the creative works of Chris McVeigh and AC Pinlac. I love how the bonsai turned out, with its customizable leaf elements that can either be built as a typical green tree, or a beautiful brick rendition of cherry blossoms. Similarly, the bouquet may be modified in several ways and looks gorgeous arranged in a flower vase.

These sets are not yet listed over at LEGO Shop@Home, but we can expect a launch date of January 2021 alongside recently revealed LEGO 18+ 2021 sets such as next year’s modular, the LEGO Creator Expert Police Station (10278), and LEGO Art sets. The largest LEGO® brick set created to date will be available from LEGO Retail Stores and LEGO.com from 27th November

Billund, November 13th, 2020: This Black Friday, LEGO® fans can take home a piece of history and re-create Rome’s most iconic landmark, with the awe-inspiring new LEGO Colosseum set. Made up of 9,036 pieces, this is not only the largest LEGO brick set launched to date (taking the title from the LEGO® Star Wars™ Millennium Falcon) it’s also been expertly designed to mimic the incredible architecture of the original Roman amphitheater, making it a building project to savor and a set to marvel at.

Both LEGO fans and History buffs need to look no further than their living room to experience a taste of Italian history, as this LEGO brick model is a truly authentic LEGO brick recreation of the mighty Colosseum – featuring many true-to-life details to help builders accurately bring this famous building to life. This epic LEGO model features a recreation of the three distinct stories from the Colosseum, with each of these stories adorned with the columns of the Doric, Ionic, and Corinthian orders. These columns have been faithfully recreated in LEGO brick form using a variety of creative building techniques, including decorative volutes that have been created using a recolored LEGO roller skate element that has been turned upside down to create an authentic look.

Every detail of the set has been meticulously crafted to stay true to the real-life Colosseum – including having 80 ‘ribs’ in the spectator stands (the same number as the original) and having three different shades of brick to replicate the different columns and aging of the almost 2,000-year-old landmark. The build experience has even been expertly created to match the same process as the original, with the “wooden” LEGO arena being the last build to be placed on the LEGO model, as it has been in the 1990s. As well as being a challenging build, this model is truly a breath-taking focal point for any room. The LEGO Colosseum rests on an oval base, allowing this phenomenal 360-degree display piece to be shown off from any angle. Builders can then choose which side of this magnificent LEGO Brick recreation of one of Rome’s most visited landmarks they display – whether that’s the southern side of the building, which has been destroyed by various earthquakes and natural disasters over the years, or the more complete northern wall. Colosseum features arches, that have been recreated with LEGO brick detailing, allowing a view into the center of the Colosseum from the outside, just like its real-life counterpart.

” One of the biggest challenges and one of the most important things was to convey the Colosseum’s monumentality in the LEGO form. I felt that the LEGO model should display a special architectural feature of the original – the rows of columns flanking the arches in different styles. To achieve that, the model is constructed using the effect of vertical exaggeration. The cross-section is therefore far steeper than on the real structure. Hopefully, people will be inspired to learn more about the original through the experience of building the LEGO model.”

The LEGO Colosseum measures over 10.5” (27cm) high, 20.5” (52cm) wide, and 23.5” (59cm) deep making this a spectacular centerpiece for any LEGO brick collection.

The set will launch on 27th November, on Black Friday, as part of the LEGO Stores and LEGO.com Black Friday offerings.
