LEGO and Disney now introduce their latest tie-in sets in time for the debut of the latter’s next animated film. These LEGO Disney Raya and the Last Dragon sets to celebrate the upcoming release of the film via Disney+ on March 5th. These sets let you travel to the fantasy world of Kumandra where humans and dragons have learned to co-exist in peace. However, things have changed and this time Raya (voiced by Kelly Marie Tan), must find the sole remaining dragon to stop the monsters named Druun from devastating their kingdom. In case you missed it, here’s the official trailer.
The movie in itself is promising, and the LEGO Disney Raya and the Last Dragon sets do not disappoint. From the get-go, you’ll notice from these official images that these sets are a sort of mix between LEGO Friends and now retired LEGO Elves. If you recall, we already published a collection of images last month coming from this LEGO Disney subtheme. But these more recent images give us a closer look at the intricate details and new LEGO elements that are included in this trio. They’re not yet listed over at LEGO Shop@Home as of this posting, but we can expect them to be out there soon before their release date on March 1st. I’ll update this post once their respective LEGO affiliate links are already available.

It seems that LEGO is adding more characters to its line up of LEGO Brick Sketches sets. Introduced last June 2020, its initial offering saw some of pop culture’s most famous names rendered in collectible, brick-built illustrations on a 12×16 baseplate. This time around, the House of Mouse gets another share under the LEGO spotlight with the introduction of the upcoming LEGO Brick Sketches Mickey and Minnie sets.
Retailing for $17 each, the LEGO Brick Sketches Mickey and Minnie sets are expected to be available starting March 1, 2021. Walt Disney Animation Studios’ next original film following 2016’s Moana is now confirmed to have its collection of LEGO Disney sets. Other than its wide-array of homegrown non-licensed sets (City, Creator, Friends, DOTS, etc), LEGO’s partnership with Disney is still going strong with its introduction of new-for-January 2021 sets. LEGO online retailer Van der Meulen has now published four LEGO Disney 2021 sets expected to arrive in the first half of 2021.
These sets are yet to appear on LEGO Shop@Home, but looking at these product images published by Van der Meulen, we can now have a pretty good grasp of what to expect from them.
First off, it’s quite obvious that the winner in this initial selection is the brick-version of the elemental spirit, Bruni from Frozen 2. This rendition of Bruni the Salamander is so cute like his on-screen counterpart, that I wouldn’t mind adding him to my AFOL’s collection.
LEGO also intends to continue its brick storybook adventures with Elsa’s Storybook Adventures (43189) inspired by the first Frozen film, and two upcoming LEGO Disney 2021 sets that are a nod to the more classic Disney films of The Little Mermaid, and Cinderella.
Though it wasn’t listed yet, it is interesting to note that there are rumors that LEGO will be releasing 3 or 4 sets dedicated to Walt Disney Pictures’ upcoming Raya and the Last Dragon. Though the latest animated movie is scheduled to be released in cinemas in April 2021, we might get to see some of these LEGO sets anytime soon.

If you recall from a few days ago, one of the things that we get to see from the new LEGO Summer 2020 Catalog is an interesting teaser for a new LEGO Disney set slated to arrive on June 17. And this time, in a rather unusual way of doing things, LEGO has allowed various LEGO media fan-sites to publish this image ahead of its official reveal. Take a look at this upcoming LEGO Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse (43179) buildable characters set.
This image was said to be accidentally uploaded to LEGO servers allowing public access (I guess somebody slipped up from their end). However, there’s no other image or product description that was released regarding this latest offering. Another thing that you may notice is that this is a somewhat complex build, created mainly for display purposes which is typical of the latest LEGO sets that bear the 18+ branding.
Since the LEGO Disney Mickey and Minnie Mouse (43179) buildable characters are slated to be released on Wednesday, we can expect more info to be released anytime soon over at LEGO Shop@Home. Stay tuned.
After revealing its initial offering of LEGO BrickHeadz sets for 2020, it seems that more is expected for this year featuring some of the most iconic characters that we grew up and love. Our friend Lukas from Stone Wars has shared some bit of LEGO insider info that points to the highly probable release of more LEGO BrickHeadz licensed themes for 2020.
Though these sources may be treated as rumors until they are confirmed by LEGO, a similar report and thumbnail images shared by Promobricks corroborates the release of these sets. And from the looks of it, we will be getting two additional BrickHeadz inspired by Disney classic characters that we are very much familiar with.
UPDATE: The Brickfinder was able to get his hands on several official images of these new BrickHeadz so I opted to update the images on this post as well.

Though we really can’t see the finer details of these sets based on these thumbnails, these pictures are enough to give us a general impression of what to expect from these new Disney-inspired sets. As a fan of classic Disney animation, I’m certain that these blocky versions of Donald, Goofy and Pluto will look great standing beside a pair of LEGO BrickHeadz Mickey (41624) and Minnie Mouse (41625) sets. Aside from this trio, we might also get additional LEGO BrickHeadz licensed themes as we go through the year. It’s quite obvious that we’re still missing a LEGO BrickHeadz Star Wars candidate from this list, so I’m still crossing my fingers if stories of a LEGO BrickHeadz Jabba the Hut and Salacious Crumb will still happen this year. LEGO servers have been updated once again to include official images of additional LEGO Disney Princess 2020 sets that are slated to be available in January next year. If you recall from last month, the first wave of these sets was revealed by third-party retailers abroad, including some new sets that offer a new pop-up book design similar to what we’ve seen with LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315). This time around, these previously revealed sets are now listed at LEGO Shop@Home, with three, new additional sets whose official images are now unveiled for us to see.
As it seems, we will be getting four (4) new Storybook Adventure sets including one that is inspired by the Frozen 2 sequel. Mulan will also have another set dedicated to her, particularly one that shows her in a rehashed set that took inspiration from last year’s Mulan’s Training Day (41151). This is the second LEGO set that features a new minidoll version of the Disney heroine that also comes with new printings. If you’re a fan of Mulan, then this is will be a nice incentive to get this set in January.
Moana also gets another 2020 set which shows a more accurate rendition of her travel companion, Hei Hei the Rooster. I like this newer version of this spaced-out fowl as compared to how he is seen from 2017’s Moana’s Ocean Voyage (41150). His recent microfig version offers a larger eye print and a more movie-accurate color scheme.

New LEGO Disney sets were also revealed by third-party retailers that introduces a new collection of minidolls that are quite different from what LEGO has released before. These notable ‘microdolls’ are included in LEGO’s new line of LEGO Disney Princess Storybook collection alongside other newsets that will arrive in January next year. These new offerings include one 4+ set and five regular sets intended for kids 5 years and above.
Similar to the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315), these new LEGO Disney Princess Storybook sets features buildable scenes from some of the Disney classic films that can be neatly tucked in or folded like a typical book. And perhaps to make this play feature possible, LEGO opted to modify its current version of existing minidolls and give it a new twist. These ‘microdolls’ are obviously shorter in height and come with larger eye prints.
