LEGO Houses of the World 1 (40583) Is Most Likely Our First 2023 GWP Set

Huw from Brickset has shared a review of what seems to be our next LEGO gift-with-purchase (GWP) set for 2023. The LEGO Houses of the World 1 (40583) implies that this may just be the first of a series of promotional sets that is slated for next year.

A Better Look at LEGO Houses of the World 1 GWP

Huw’s review is a pleasant surprise since this is the first time that we are seeing this set. LEGO is still mum about this promotional, but since we are seeing a review of the LEGO Houses of the World then we can assume that an official announcement may likely be on its way anytime soon. It is also nice to see if similar future GWP sets can somehow be connected to this one, culminating in a nice display set just like that of LEGO’s 60 Years of the LEGO Brick (40290) from 2018, or that of Tribute to LEGO House (40563) promotional sets from last year.

As a limited edition set, the Brickset article goes on to show that the first house to be given the spotlight is a dwelling that is native to Central America. Coming in at 348 pieces, the LEGO Houses of the World microscale set 1 is loaded with plenty of details both inside and out. It measures 10×12 studs, featuring a 2-story house with plenty of amenities. There are also plenty of LEGO elements and pieces which give a hint of the cultural background of its residents. I have no qualms about the use of stickers for some of its pieces since this set is a gift-with-purchase, to begin with. Plus, it also comes with a LEGO Friends-like Chihuahua piece which gives the set its unique personality.

There’s no official word yet from LEGO as of this posting, but given its piece count, we can also surmise that the relative purchase amount required to bag this freebie may be around $150-$200. I’ll keep you posted on this one as more information comes in.

Special thanks again to Huw from Brickset for sharing this great review and images.

LEGO Creator 3-in-1 GWP Mystic Witch (40562) First Images

Speaking of LEGO GWPs, here’s another one coming up next for big buyers this October 2022. The more recent gifts currently available come from a variety of LEGO themes. Our next expected GWP for mid-October is no different. Speaking of variety, this one will provide plenty all its own, considering it’s a LEGO Creator 3-in-1. And the timing can be no more appropriate too when we consider the subject of this set. With Halloween coming at month’s end LEGO is offering us this. It even has an age recommendation right for the occasion’s primary demographic.

Courtesy of The Brick Fan, we have this scoop on the LEGO Creator 3-in-1 Mystic Witch (40562). As expected, this upcoming GWP set lets builders create an iconic Halloween witch. We’re talking conical hat, broomstick, green skin, the works. You’ll even be forgiven if you can’t decide whether her mouth piece is a smile or a big protruding tooth. And being a 3-in-1 set, Mystic Witch can be rebuilt into two other alternate forms. She can become her own familiar black (well, purple) cat or a cute little dragon. Just like a stereotypical witch to be able to magically shapeshift. It doesn’t get more Halloween-y.

LEGO collectors can have the GWP Creator Mystic Witch (40562) for a minimum total purchase of $100. The corresponding gift period begins this coming Friday, October 14, and will run all the way to Halloween itself. It just doesn’t get more spooky seasonal than this.

LEGO GWP Ray the Castaway (40566) Running Out During Double-VIP Points Period

LEGO  GWP or gift-with-purchase sets are both great appreciation tokens and incentives to spend lots during LEGO purchases. This goes double when a GWP happens to be a complementary addition to a main buyable set. FC Barcelona Celebration (40485) being a gift during the launch period of Camp Nou (10284) comes to mind. Alternatively, a GWP might be cool enough on its own merits. Collectors would then shoot for the minimum LEGO purchase amount for it. And when the GWP period overlaps with other events like double LEGO VIP points, the gifts-with-purchase can disappear really fast.

This is pretty much the deal this week according to Brick Fanatics where Ray the Castaway (40566) is concerned. Apparently this GWP, winner of an Ideas Contest, is running out on the online LEGO Shop, across multiple markets. Its total purchase price threshold of $120 in the US, for instance, comes across as peanuts to collectors nowadays. One might thank the latest LEGO VIP double-points period that kicked off this past Monday, October 10. Ironically Ray’s set only had until next Sunday left for its GWP period. At least there are other LEGO gifts-with-purchase items still available for early October. And more are still due to launch later this month.

October 2022 LEGO GWP Ray the Castaway (40566) Gets Product Listing Too

At last, September 2022 is drawing to a close. We can look forward to yet another blitz of new LEGO set launches next month. This includes other extras like the usual gifts-with-purchase items available at minimum purchase limits. One particular GWP set we’re already aware of is Ray the Castaway (40566). This item won its spot from a LEGO Ideas contest challenge. While we got an advance glimpse of the set last week, this time LEGO’s got an item listing for it. This bit of news is brought to us by The Brick Fan. We’ll let the LEGO Shop page speak further about this GWP.

Sneak Peek of Next LEGO GWP Ray the Castaway (40566)

Not all LEGO Ideas submissions go on to become full-blown purchasable sets. Some product ideas may become official sets, but only as gift-with-purchase freebies for minimum LEGO purchases. Usually, these builds were winners of contests hosted by LEGO Ideas. Winning these contests would still count as exposure for many aspiring builder-contributors on the Ideas platform. Speaking of which, a new Ideas submission will debut as a GWP set quite soon. This contribution won a LEGO Ideas contest from last year. Now we get our first glimpse of it, ahead of the official LEGO promo reveal.

German LEGO news source Promobricks gives us this initial image of the Ray the Castaway (40566) GWP set. Ideas 10K Club Member DadiTwins created this set for the “Do You Want to Go to the Seaside?” Contest Challenge in 2021. The set features the titular castaway Ray on his own tropical island, with makeshift hut and palm trees. With only a parrot for company, Ray survives by fishing from shore or on his trusty raft. Check out the original submission:

This 239-piece set is said to launch its gift-with-purchase period starting October 1. In the US, LEGO buyers need a minimum purchase of $120 to get it. Thankfully, with the new-set launches at month’s start, that would be easy enough.

LEGO VIP Offers Pirates and Treasures (40515) Polybag as GWP

It’s been years since the last prominent instance of pirate-themed AV media, in film, TV series or videogames. The same goes perhaps for LEGO, with the Pirates of Barracuda Bay (21322) Ideas set launching last 2020. But does this mean that pirates have lost its luster in popular imagination, much less LEGO building? Probably not if this new gift with purchase from LEGO is any indication. True, it’s only a polybag and also a VIP member exclusive. But its contents could enhance a LEGO collector’s pirate-themed building time. As Stone Wars has it, here’s LEGO VIP’s latest GWP giveaway promo.

40515 alt1

The Pirates and Treasure VIP Add-On Pack (40515) is exactly what it says on the polybag. It’s a massive pile of pirate accessories and accouterments. Add these to any brick-built project to give it an undeniable pirate-y flair. From Jolly Rogers to tricorne hats, treasure chests to minifig skeletons, cannons to sharks, this pack’s got it all. And it can be had by VIP members for LEGO purchases of at least $50. The promo runs until September 30 or supplies of VIP Add-On Pack 40515 last. So Arrrrrh, what’re ye VIP Cap’ns still waitin’ for?

GWP: LEGO DOTS Pencil Holder (40561) Listed

LEGO DOTS isn’t exactly one of the first themes to come up in terms of name power and popularity. It’s still got a good following all the same. Buildable and customizable accessories rock. So, if you fancy LEGO DOTS then this product listing on LEGO Shop might be for you. Even better, you don’t have to pay for it directly since it’s listed as free (price notwithstanding). On LEGO shorthand that means a gift-with-purchase, if Brick Fanatics which found it has it right. We’re not sure what product/s you might need to buy to get it, but here it is.

40561 1

If you like a LEGO look for your study table, check out this DOTS Pencil Holder (40561). With 476 pieces one can assemble a pencil-shaped bin for your writing tools. The fun part involves designing the holder’s face with DOTS tile-pieces. It’s quite the enjoyable functional LEGO set for just $14.99 if available for conventional purchase. But it’s a GWP, so we’ll just wait until LEGO gives us the promo details, which shouldn’t take long.

LEGO GWP Polybags Now Available: Speed Champions Aston Martin AMR Pro and City Go-Kart

A week into June 2022, LEGO has a new set of GWPs beginning their promo period now. Both items are polybags, and they ought to catch the fancy of automobile aficionados looking for quick builds. One is for the Speed Champions line, which already has new releases this year. The other is a minifigure-scale vehicle for the LEGO City line. According to Brickset, both gift-with-purchase polybags have the same purchase price threshold. One promo period ends sooner than the other though, so here’s the lowdown on these promotional automotive polybags.

30434 1

First is the LEGO Speed Champions Aston Martin AMR Pro (30434). From this Tuesday, June 7, one can get it with a minimum LEGO purchase of $40.

30589 1

It’s the same price deal for the LEGO City Go-Kart Racer (30589). About the only difference is the end of its GWP period. The City polybag wraps up on the 14th, while its Speed Champions counterpart won’t be until June 19. Of course, both also depend on while their respective stocks last. The Aston Martin polybag’s being touted by LEGO as a nice extra for a Father’s Day LEGO purchase. The City Go-Kart’s more for an everyday gift. These GWPs are available on both LEGO.com and LEGO Stores.

CN LEGO Store Calendar Reveals 90th Anniversary GWP, Forest Hideout (40567)

All year this 2022 LEGO’s celebrating 90 years as a company older than the plastic bricks that made them iconic. One key component of their milestone celebration is the throwback sets. These products harken back to the early days of the LEGO brick system but are no less fun. Some 90th anniversary LEGO sets are out now while others are either still coming or rumored. And not all these milestone products are full sets; there will be some 90-years GWPs also coming our way. This much we know thanks to info in a local LEGO branded store calendar from China.

Courtesy of Brickset, which found it on LEGO Facebook fan-page Candidbricks, we have this image of the 90th anniversary gift-with-purchase. Like the other milestone LEGO sets, this one calls back to an oldie theme. In 1988 LEGO released Forestmen’s Hideout (6054), a Robin Hood-esque tree-house hideaway. This 90th anniversary revamp is called the Forest Hideout (40567), comprised of 258 pieces. It’s a fantastic callback to the Forestmen sub-line of the LEGO Castle theme. The Chinese LEGO Store Calendar announces the set’s GWP period as June 15-30. That’s for China of course, so we’re waiting for the rest of the world.

LEGO Ideas Contest “Ready, Set, Go STEM!” Crowd Vote Begins for GWP Shot

It’s a given that custom creations on LEGO Ideas have a long way to go towards official set-dom. Gaining supporters is one thing while impressing pro LEGO Ideas reviewers is quite another. On average, less than a handful of product ideas will emerge approved per Review Stage. Fortunately, Ideas provides alternative venues for its members to see their builds become LEGO products. Sometimes they open Contests for submissions to get fast-tracked towards approval. Just last month for instance, LEGO Ideas launched a Contest for STEM-themed submissions. Following a review period in the middle of this month, the vote’s finally ready.

Brick Fanatics tells us that LEGO Ideas Contest “Ready, Set, Go STEM!” opened its Crowd Vote on Thursday, May 26. No less than 15 entries are in the running to become an official LEGO gift-with-purchase set. And of course, the Grand Winner and runners-up will receive some cool and recent LEGO sets from various themes. Check out STEM-themed submissions, some with animated images too:
