First Trailer Out for “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” Coming October 1 on Disney+

Last month, Disney+ revealed an upcoming “LEGO Star Wars” animated special. It’s themed for Halloween and asks the question: Do “Star Wars” and “horror anthology” go well together? Well, there was a short “Star Wars” young-readers horror-novel series in the 1990s, but that’s beside the point. Anyway, Lucasfilm and LEGO are about to demonstrate how mixing a Galaxy Far, Far Away with “Tales from the Crypt” is not only doable, but hilariously fun. That’s because the first trailer for “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” is out. And now LEGO animated series and “Star Wars” fans are laughing their heads off.

Why shouldn’t they laugh? Check out the trailer below, as posted on the official “Star Wars” YouTube channel. It’s a gloriously chaotic comedy with just the right amount of scary. It starts with Resistance Pilot Poe Dameron (Jake Green) crash-landing on planet Mustaphar. He and his trusty droid BB-8 then stumble upon…Castle Vader, former citadel of Darth Vader-turned-Sith-themed luxury hotel. Thank Graballa the Hutt for that. Poe, Graballa and his mechanic Dean (Raphael Alejandro) then meet Vanee (Tony Hale), former servant of Vader. He basically apes the Crypt-keeper and the Midnight Society in sharing three spooky tales of the Galaxy.

“Submitted for Your Approval…”

Tale 1 sees Ben Solo (Christian Slater) being recruited by the First Order. He becomes Kylo Ren and goes around…bullying droids by playing catch with their heads alongside his Knights. Tale 2 recounts how Darth Maul got his cybernetic lower body…and his struggle to master moving with it. The third tale takes canon off-track when Luke Skywalker wishes on a preserved monkey/Wookie-paw…and becomes an Imperial pilot. As Vanee tells these tales of the Sith, something dark begins to stir within Castle Vader. Even Emperor Palpatine (Trevor Devall) couldn’t miss it.

Packed with signature LEGO animation physics, quirky adventures and shout-outs from various horror films and anthologies with some sweet parental bonuses, “LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales” is going to rock the LEGO fan’s Halloween viewing list. Catch it on Disney+ streaming this coming October 1.

HenkvdL05’s A-Team Van is His Second LEGO Ideas Proposal to Get 10-K Support on 2021 Second Review Stage

We can’t help but feel concerned about the titanic workload the review crew for LEGO Ideas 2021 Second Review Stage. Their most recent proposal that reached 10-K support was at the start of this week. Now we have another one before the week is out (even if this is September and that was August).

This new passer also reinforces a prevailing sense of nostalgia, featuring famous vehicles from 1980s media. There’s Scooby-Doo and the gang with their van, and Michael Knight’s talking super-car alongside their support truck. The latter’s creator HenkvdL05 pulls a hat trick regarding that theme with yet another 10-K submission.

HenkvdL05ATeam02

Talk about famous vehicles from 1980s pop media and it’d be a crime to skip “The A-Team.” Sure, the titular crazy-awesome bunch of fugitive ex-soldiers-turned-mercenaries used a nondescript black GMC van with red trim. But what a beauty that rolling arsenal was all the same. HenkvdL05 pointedly designed his build in this proposal around LEGO’s recent (since 2020) 8-stud vehicle width standard. That means this A-Team Van is scaled to standard-sized minifigures. There’s still enough inside room for the minifigs to sit side-by-side in twos. That was pretty much the setup with the A-Team whenever they rolled out.

HenkvdL05ATeam03

Of course the main cast of the show isn’t skipping out from their own LEGO Ideas proposal. There’s “Hannibal” Smith, “Faceman” Peck, Mad Murdock and BA Baracus, with appropriate props to boot. They can jump right into the van, which has an easily removable roof for play purposes. The vehicle itself has working doors: driver and passenger, rear, and sliding side-door. Its interior also includes communication and electronic-equipment LEGO pieces to make things lively.

HenkvdL05 now has two proposals aimed at getting a LEGO Ideas set for the 2021 Second Review Stage. And in total, there are over 30 for the reviewers to look over. We can’t help but wonder how many of these proposals will become official at the end of this period.

LEGO Shop@Home Offers LEGO Collectible Minifigures Marvel Studios – 6 Pack (66678)

September 1 saw the expected release of multiple LEGO sets and extras. Among them is LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios (71031), a new series of 12 minifigs of characters from the MCU. Specifically, they hail from the live-action limited series and animated anthology What If available on Disney+ streaming. Each LEGO Minifigures 71031 foil pack gives you a shot at getting Variant Loki from Loki, Scarlet Witch from WandaVision, T’Challa Star-Lord from What If, and more. But if you’re got little patience for scouring single minifig packs then LEGO has an alternative approach for you – the LEGO Collectible Minifigures Marvel Studios 6-Pack (66678).

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Marvel Studios

Why bother opening multiple bags for one character at a time, when you can shoot for six? Check out LEGO Collectible Minifigures Marvel Studios 6-Pack (66678), now listed at Shop@Home. Every 6-Pack of 66678 contains six 71031 minifigures. It’s worth $29.94 or exactly six $4.99 LEGO minifig bags. How’s that for great convenience?

71031 alt1

Grouping single bags of LEGO minifigures in a series isn’t exactly new. In a way that’s quite helpful for collectors. If there are any catches then they would be these two snags. Number 1: buying on Shop@Home will limit the quantity of LEGO Marvel Studios 6-Pack (66678) to three per household. That’s 18 chances to collect 12 characters. Number 2: as of this writing, both the 6-pack and the individual 71031 minifigure bags are sold out at Shop@Home (in the US at least). Hopefully, they’ll restock soon; these items are new after all. Online shoppers just need only wait some more.

PREPARE YOURSELF FOR HAUNTED HAPPENINGS IN LEGO® STAR WARS TERRIFYING TALES

TONY HALE AND CHRISTIAN SLATER JOIN RETURNING CAST FOR THE HALLOWEEN SPECIAL, PREMIERING OCTOBER 1 EXCLUSIVELY ON DISNEY+.

Today, Disney+ debuted key art and announced the cast for LEGO® Star Wars Terrifying Tales, which premieres October 1 exclusively on the streaming service. The all-new animated special continues the rich legacy of collaboration between Lucasfilm and the LEGO® Group and is a seasonal celebration of the villainous dark side of the Star Wars galaxy — just in time for Halloween.

After the events of Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker, Poe Dameron and BB-8 must make an emergency landing on the volcanic planet Mustafar where they meet the greedy and conniving Graballa the Hutt. The crime boss has purchased Darth Vader’s castle and is renovating it into the galaxy’s first all-inclusive Sith-inspired luxury hotel. While waiting for his X-Wing to be repaired, Poe, BB-8, Graballa, and Dean (a plucky and courageous young boy who works as Graballa’s mechanic) venture deep into the mysterious castle with Vader’s loyal servant, Vaneé. Along the way, Vaneé shares three creepy stories linked to ancient artifacts and iconic villains from across all eras of Star Wars. As Vaneé spins his tales and lures our heroes deeper into the shadowy underbelly of the castle, a sinister plan emerges. With the help of Dean, Poe and BB-8 will have to face their fears, stop an ancient evil from rising, and escape to make it back to their friends.

The voice cast includes Jake Green as Poe Dameron; Raphael Alejandro as Dean; Dana Snyder as Graballa the Hutt; Tony Hale as Vaneé; Christian Slater as Ren; Trevor Devall as Emperor Palpatine; and Mary Elizabeth McGlynn as NI-L8. David Shayne serves as writer and executive producer, and the director is Ken Cunningham. James Waugh, Josh Rimes, Jacqui Lopez, Jill Wilfert, Keith Malone, and Jason Cosler are executive producers. LEGO Star Wars Terrifying Tales was produced in collaboration with Atomic Cartoons.

Here’s A Closer Look at the LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series (71031)

Now that LEGO has made it official, LEGO Marvel fans can now have a closer look at the latest LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series (71031) before they arrive in stores and online in September. Here are some close-up images of these 12 MCU characters in their LEGO minifigure forms. From what we can also read from the series’ official product description, it seems that LEGO has also revealed some of these characters’ official names especially those that will be featured in the upcoming Disney+ What If…? series. I’ll be referring to these official names in the list below.

I’ll try to keep my personal opinions at a minimum since I don’t want to make this sound like a lengthy review. But just to point out, and similar to what LEGO offered in the  LEGO DC Comics CMF (71026), each LEGO Marvel minifigure will also include the angled bar element for a more dynamic minifigure pose.

Frankly, I want to hear more about your personal thoughts on this new CMF series so feel free to drop in your comments below. You can also join in the discussion via our official Facebook page where I will share this article as well. Lastly, don’t forget to add this CMF to your wishlist over at LEGO Shop@Home if you wish to be reminded of its availability starting September 1, retailing for $5 per blind bag. So with that out of the way, let’s take a closer look at the LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series.

LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series (71031) Officially Revealed

After many teaser updates and rumors, LEGO has officially revealed its LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series (71031). Scheduled to arrive in September, each collectible minifigure blind bag is expected to retail for $4.99.

71031 alt4

Based on new MCU characters that were featured in recent and upcoming Disney+ series (WandaVision, The Falcon and the Winter Soldier, Loki, What If…?), this CMF series includes 12 Marvel superhero minifigs namely The Scarlet Witch, White Vision, Monica Rambeau, The Winter Soldier, Captain America, Loki, Sylvie, T’Challa Star-Lord, Captain Carter, Gamora with the Blade of Thanos, Zombie Hunter Spidey, and Zombie Captain America.

Obviously, LEGO is investing much of its tie-in sets in promoting these Disney+ series, and this time around, we have this particular CMF series to look forward to as well. Though I have to say that I do prefer the direction that LEGO took when it introduced its LEGO DC Comics CMF (71026) last year which is primarily based on their comic book counterparts. There is a lot of potential candidates coming from the source material in my opinion, and I am somewhat hoping that LEGO will still consider offering another set of LEGO Marvel CMF based on their comic book origins.

Whatever is the case, you may want to click on the LEGO Shop@Home affiliate link below if you wish to add the LEGO Minifigures Marvel Studios Series (71031) to your LEGO wishlist.

Second LEGO Ideas 2021 Review

Since the Second LEGO Ideas 2021 Review Stage is yet to be concluded in September, we can still expect a lot of product ideas to reach the necessary 10,000 votes in the next couple of months. The LEGO Ideas platform has seen a surprising increase in fan/member engagement as evidenced by the exponential growth of product ideas that qualify for the Review Stage. The First 2021 LEGO Ideas Review Stage, for example, managed to gather a record-breaking 57 product ideas last month. Personally, I’m happy to see such levels of activity from the LEGO fan community. I just hope that the LEGO Ideas Review Team will somehow take time to revisit its selection process to include a wider range of qualified entries, considering the volume of product ideas that made it through the voting stage. I’m not familiar with the inner workings of the LEGO Ideas Review Stage, and the challenges that the team needed to hurdle during their review. But I’m speaking from the perspective of a LEGO fan that is very eager to see his supported project become an official LEGO Ideas set. I guess we just have to wait and see shortly.

More Hints on the LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series (71031)

The full-length official trailer of the next MCU Disney+ series has already been released, and with it comes more hints on what we can expect from the upcoming LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series (71031). In case you missed it, you may watch it right here.

If you recall from last month, I published a list of these rumored MCU characters that are said to be included in the next LEGO CMF series. First off, it is clear by now that unlike last year’s DC Comics-inspired LEGO CMF (71026), the LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series (71031) source material will be entirely from the new MCU Disney+ offerings – from WandaVision up to the animated What If…? series. And now that we have seen the official trailer of the upcoming multiverse series, coupled with the exciting reveals of Loki’s episode 5, we can better fine-tune our list.

With more information coming from Brick Fanatics, here’s the latest rundown of what we can expect from our next licensed LEGO CMF.

      • Scarlet Witch
      • White Vision
      • Monica Rambeau (it was initially thought that it was Agatha Harkness, but the latest word from brick street shows that it will be the super-powered SWORD operative)
      • Captain America Sam Wilson (with shield and new wings)
      • Bucky Barnes (with new printed arm and knife)
      • Loki (in a trench coat with the word VARIANT printed at the back, and Throg as an accessory as seen in Loki Episode 5)
      • Sylvie (now that the Loki series has revealed Sylvie as the one trying to burn the TVA to the ground instead of Lady Loki, we can expect her to be in the LEGO CMF as well)
      • Captain Britain Peggy Carter (with shield and Tessaract)
      • Zombie Captain America
      • Star-Lord T’Challa (with a pair of blasters)
      • Spider Supreme (it was initially thought that this will be a Steve Rogers version of Spidey, but the latest official trailer of What If…? has shown this character to be a multiverse counterpart of Peter Parker with a penchant for a Doctor Strange-like capes)
      • Warlord Gamora (inspired by Thanos and wields a double blade similar to what the Mad Titan used

Though sources tell us that we can expect only 12 minifigures from this line-up, I’m still hoping they will throw in more minifigures coming from this Marvel and Disney+ collab. I guess we just have to wait for LEGO’s official word which I believe will be anytime soon.
