Life-Sized LEGO Bugatti Chiron is Headed to the UK on November

The hype may have long died down at this point, but we’re sure lifelong LEGO fans can still remember the warm reception given to LEGO’s unbelievable achievement of using Technic pieces to create a working replica of the life-sized LEGO Bugatti Chiron sports car. By now that life-sized LEGO car may perhaps be more popular than the actual LEGO Technic Chiron (42083) introduced earlier in June.

We know that LEGO has sent their brick-built Bugatti Chiron on a European tour, making stops at racetracks or car shows along the way. The last we heard was that it was an “honored guest” at the Paris Motor Show this early October. Its next stop: across the English Channel.

Indeed, the life-sized LEGO Bugatti Chiron that impressed even veteran professional drivers despite its sub par top speed will now be making its way across the UK. On the first day of November it’ll be on proud display at the Westfield London.

Next, brick car will move to Westfield Stratford on November 3, before finally arriving at the Bluewater Dartford on November 8. So next month it’ll be England’s turn to get a closer look at The LEGO Group’s proud creation. Visitors will be allowed to rev the Power Functions-powered engine and fiddle with its other features.

LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) Officially Revealed

After releasing a video teaser a few of days ago, LEGO has officially revealed the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) now listed at LEGO Shop@Home. Based from the original product idea of Jason Allemann and Grant Davis, the Pop-Up Book is the very first of its kind where it features a pop-up build that tells two classic fairy tales in one set, nicely rendered in LEGO bricks. Gorgeous both inside and out, the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book comes in dark green and red colors and unique, printed parts. I wasn’t sure before if those were actual printed parts and I was even inclined to think that they were stickers instead. As it is, LEGO went the extra mile of coming up with a new Once Upon a Brick printed tile and even had the names of Allemann and Davis printed on brown 1×8 tiles. I feel this is a good start for future LEGO Ideas sets where fan designers get recognized through the actual set by having a special, commemorative LEGO piece dedicated to them and included in each set.

Read on for the official product description for the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) which will be available to starting November 1 at all LEGO brand stores and at shop.LEGO.com.

The LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book (21315) was eventually selected as the product idea of choice at the conclusion of the LEGO Ideas 2017 Third Review Stage. Designed by Jason Allemann (aka JK Brickworks), he was also the LEGO fan designer behind the LEGO Ideas Maze (21305) released back in 2016. The Pop-Up Book can be customized to allow you to create your own story. It is expected that the set will include a set of minifigures based on the classic fairy tale of Red Riding Hood. Whether its knights and castles, or the wild, wild west, the LEGO Ideas Pop-Up Book is versatile enough to allow these customizations. Needless to say, this is one set packed with plenty of neat play features.

Though considered a rumor which circulated last month across the LEGO fan community, we can finally rest our horses and be assured that the LEGO Creator Expert Vestas Wind Turbine (10268) will be available to all starting Black Friday on November 23. This latest LEGO Creator Expert re-release is based from the original 4999 set that had a very limited run when it was launched ten years ago. • The first-time consumers can purchase a LEGO set featuring new ‘Plants from Plants’ elements – made from plant-based plastic sourced from sugarcane
  • A key collaboration between the LEGO Group and Vestas®, the world leader in sustainable energy solutions
  • Through investments in wind power the LEGO Group balances 100% of the energy used to make LEGO bricks with energy from renewable sources.
  • Available from Black Friday (November 23rd)

[26th September 2018] While the world-renowned New York Climate Week (24 – 30 September) is live, the LEGO Group has today unveiled the latest LEGO Creator Expert set to come ‘Out of the Vault’ – Vestas® Wind Turbine following popular demand of the original and to celebrate play, creativity and imagination whilst also raising awareness about sustainability and renewable energy in partnership with Vestas®. This is the very first set available to purchase that features one of the all-new sustainably sourced plant-based plastic LEGO elements, Plants from Plants. This renewable energy focused set will be available directly in LEGO Stores and shop.LEGO.com this Black Friday (23rd November 2018).

The LEGO Creator Expert Vestas® Wind Turbine has been designed in partnership with the sets’ namesake and world’s leading provider of sustainable energy solutions, Vestas®, who have installed 65,000 wind turbines in around 80 countries.

The 826-piece model stands nearly a meter-high towering over a wooded hill, featuring the new ‘Plants from Plants’ spruce tree. Made from plant-based plastic sourced from sugarcane, the inclusion of these elements is part of the first steps in the LEGO Group’s ambition to use sustainable materials in products by 2030 and packaging by 2025.

This latest instalment in the LEGO Creator Expert Series has been designed to provide a challenging and rewarding building experience with a touch of nostalgia, with builders discovering a house complete with a furnished patio and a working porch light and powered wind turbine, as well as three LEGO Vestas® servicemen Minifigures and a LEGO dog.

The set measures 100cm high, 72cm wide and 31cm deep and features adjustable wind blades (not as big as the real thing of course, which measures more than 2m longer than a London double-decker bus, but impressive none the least), detailed tower, movable nacelle with aircraft warning lights and power functions to automate the set.

The LEGO Vestas® Wind Turbine celebrates creativity in addition to the LEGO Group’s commitment to making a positive impact on the environment. Through investment in wind power the LEGO Group balances 100% of the energy used to make LEGO bricks with energy from renewable sources.

Tim Brooks, Vice President, Environmental Responsibility at LEGO Group commented: “We strive to make a positive impact on the environment and are committed to climate action and to use sustainable materials in products and packaging. This wind turbine celebrates our first steps in bringing these ambitions to life and we hope it will inspire builders to learn about renewable energy. In August we released the first

LEGO elements made from plants and now our fans around the world can buy a LEGO set containing these unique elements.”

Morten Dyrholm, Group Senior Vice President of Marketing, Communications and Public Affairs at Vestas® said: “Today, wind energy is the cheapest source of energy in many markets, which have made wind turbines a sustainability icon across the globe and we are proud to partner with the LEGO Group on this relaunch. The original Vestas® wind turbine LEGO model was specially created for Vestas® to promote wind energy to a small audience within energy and as such, today’s relaunch to the global LEGO community tells the story of how wind energy have gone from niche to mainstream, not just within energy but the entire world.”

The LEGO Creator Expert Vestas® Wind Turbine is the latest in the Creator Expert line of products and will be available to buy on Black Friday (23rd Nov) directly from LEGO Stores and shop.LEGO.com.

2018 LEGO Seasonal Christmas Carousel (40293) Revealed

Christmas seems to be around the corner as early as September, specially that LEGO has now started rolling out this year’s wave of holiday-inspired sets. After the reveal of 2018’s LEGO Advent Calendars which are now all available at shop.LEGO.com, we now have a glimpse and confirmation of another seasonal set that will soon be available in our local LEGO Stores. The 2018 LEGO Seasonal Christmas Carousel (40293) has just been revealed by a Russian LEGO certified store. Check out the images below.

40293 1 40293 4 40293 5 40293 3 40293 7 40293 6 40293 2

As we can see from the set’s box art, the Christmas Carousel (40293) is expected to be a limited edition set, following the likes of 2017’s Nutcracker (40254) and 2016’s Snowglobe (40223). Though the Russian LEGO certified store lists the Christmas Carousel for sale, it is most likely to be a gift-with-purchase set once it arrives in the US similar to its predecessors. It also seems to have certain play features that includes a simple rotating mechanism to make the carousel turn. It also has movable gates and removable seats in the form of microbuilds.

We do not have information as of now with regards to its availability, but most probably it will be available sometime in November as part of Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals similar during the previous years.

Even After Losing in Court, Lepin Has Just Released Its Fake LEGO Star Wars Betrayal At Cloud City (75222)

I guess shame and repentance are not in the list of words that Lepin learned in the process of doing business. Because in just less than two weeks after the release of the first Master Builders set, the LEGO Star Wars Betrayal at Cloud City (75222), Lepin has just released its own counterfeit version of this set and has made it available for sale via online selling platform AliExpress. This is in spite of the fact that the original set is slated to be released on September 13. This shameless act of copying and selling a fake LEGO Star Wars Betrayal At Cloud City (75222) is further magnified by the fact that Chinese courts has already declared Lepin guilty of violating copyright infringement against The LEGO Group.

fake lego

LEGO has been actively fighting for its intellectual property rights for the past few years, with one fake LEGO dealer in South Korea receiving a court sentence for selling counterfeit LEGO products. And with its recent win over its legal battle against Lepin, I hope that the full extent of the law will be consistently applied against the copycat company. It hurts LEGO set designers who poured out their ingenuity and creative work in coming up with such excellent sets, and perhaps even more the LEGO fan community who are patiently waiting for the release of these upcoming sets.

So if you’re a true-blue LEGO fan, do not support this kind of blatant copyright violation and be sure to only purchase original LEGO sets from legitimate sources such as your local LEGO Store and at shop.LEGO.com, Thanks to Brick Fanatics for the heads up.

Grab These Spooky LEGO Minifigure Key Lights Just In Time for Halloween

It looks like LEGO is adding more Halloween fun this year with the introduction of this next wave of minifigure key lights. Inspired by the now retired Monster Fighter sets, and earlier Collectible Minifigures series, we now have four new spooky key lights to join you in your trick-or-treating night. LEGO minifigure key lights are up-sized minifigures fitted with an LED light at one leg which functions as a cool key chain at the same time. Singapore-based online retailer Toy Station has listed four, monster-inspired key lights which you can find below.

LEGO Lord Vampyre Key Light (inspired by the head vampire himself as seen in 9468 Vampyre Castle and 10228 Haunted House).

9189

LEGO Zombie Key Light (based on 2010’s Collectible Minifigures Series 1)

9190

LEGO Skeleton Guy Key Light (based on 2015’s Collectible Minifigures Series 14)

9193

LEGO Mummy Key Light (based on LEGO’s Collectible Minifigures Series 3 from 2011)

They’re not listed yet at shop.LEGO.com as of this writing, but I hope they will find their way soon in the US and the rest of the world. If you’re into LEGO minifigure key lights and would like to add a functional, brick-inspired swag to accessorize your Halloween evening, then be sure to check with your local LEGO store if they have these already. Drop us a comment if you somehow spot these in the wild. Credit to Brick Fanatics for the featured image above.
