LEGO Reveals New 2020 LEGO Star Wars Sets In Time for SDCC

In addition to the new LEGO Marvel Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144) that LEGO will showcase at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the company has revealed two new 2020 LEGO Star Wars sets that will also be displayed at the event. It looks like LEGO will be throwing in a pair of new sets that calls back on some of the most memorable opening scenes from the very first Star Wars movie ever made: Episode IV: A New Hope.

Both sets render these opening scenes as we fondly remember them. The first one being Obi-Wan’s Hut (75270) which comes in at 200 pieces, and features minifigures of Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and a Tusken Raider. Unique to this set is a new microfigure of Princess Leia’s hologram which she used to send a distress signal to Obi-Wan.

The second set is another classic call back with Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder (75271). To be frank, this is the fourth Star Wars Luke Landspeeder that LEGO has released over the years since the theme’s inception in 1999. So for some, this may no longer come as a surprise. However, this new set boasts of having more details than its predecessors and also features the minifig versions of Luke with a new blaster rifle clip, C-3PO, and a Jawa with his buildable cave hideout.

Read on for the rest of the product descriptions for these new 2020 LEGO Star Wars sets, both of which will be available to the public starting January 1 next year. If you’re happening to drop by at SDCC from July 18 to 21, then be sure to check out these sets to be displayed at the LEGO Booth. Thanks to The Brothers Brick for the tip.

SDCC 2019 Exclusive Reveal: The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Advanced Suit

In the tradition of San Diego Comic-Con’s LEGO exclusives, LEGO has now revealed this year’s first minifigure to be made available to participants. The LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Advanced Suit takes its cue from 2018’s hit Playstation 4 video game, Spider-Man

We can assume that SDCC 2019 attendees will have access to this LEGO minifig exclusive via the same electronic raffle/system as in previous years. Furthermore, according to info coming from Allen (aka The Brick Fan), there will also be a randomized instant-win raffle event where Comic-Con attendees can get a chance to win this LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Advanced Suit exclusive.

LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Advanced Suit LEGO Marvel Spider-Man Advanced Suit

To be frank, I’m still hoping that The LEGO Group will still consider having Comic-Con LEGO exclusives such as this, be available to other LEGO fans who cannot attend these kinds of conventions for obvious geographical reasons. Perhaps LEGO can give a thought on how to make these minifigs available to the general public after a certain number of months. This will also somehow discourage scalpers for charging a ridiculous amount for this SDCC LEGO exclusives over at eBay.

LEGO SDCC 2019 Spider Man 3

Anyways, if you’re into this kind of LEGO collectibles, then be sure to bookmark and check back with us again as more info comes out regarding the details of how to avail of this minifig. I also expect additional LEGO SDCC 2019 minifigures to be revealed anytime soon.

LEGO Marvel Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144) Revealed

After the reveal of this year’s LEGO SDCC exclusives: Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902) and The Dark Knight of Gotham City (77903), the LEGO Group has revealed another set that will grace their booth at San Diego Comic Con 2019 starting July 18. The LEGO Marvel Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144) comes as an addition to the roster of LEGO Marvel Endgame sets which are now currently available in LEGO Stores and online.

Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144)

As initially announced by Gizmodo, the set comes in at 482 pieces and will include two Chitauri minifigures, Black Widow in her time heist suit, and an Infinity Gauntlet-wielding Professor Hulk, and Pepper Potts in her Rescue armor. The central build of this set is the Avengers Helicopter, which to be quite honest and nitpicking does not fit in that entire Endgame scene. But perhaps the biggest question is, as Gizmodo pointed out, is LEGO’s call of including Nat in this particular set considering that Bruce Banner already has the Infinity Gauntlet together with the Soul Stone attached to it. Spoiler alert: if you haven’t seen the movie until now (seriously?), then you wouldn’t want to know why is it so.

Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144)

Well, LEGO does not really have the reputation of being completely movie-accurate with regards to rendering MCU films into sets. Nevertheless, if you’re a LEGO Marvel MCU completionist, then its nice to have that Rescue armor around. The LEGO Marvel Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144) is expected to retail for $60 and will be available in US stores beginning November 25. Check out the rest of its official images and product description courtesy of Brick Fanatics.

Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144)

Team up with the Avengers in an epic aerial battle against the Chitauri soldiers! Launch the helicopter with Rescue and fire the triple stud shooters at the mighty Leviathan. Dodge the Chitauri flyer’s stud shooters. Surprise the enemy by dropping the mighty Hulk into battle. Then attack with Rescue’s Power Blasts and Black Widow’s batons. Who will win this LEGO Marvel Avengers Endgame? You decide!

July 2019 LEGO Store Calendar Highlights and Promotions

LEGO is pushing through with its plans of going entirely digital now that the July 2019 LEGO Store Calendar has been released online. With that in mind, let’s take a look at what’s in store for LEGO fans next month.

LEGO Store Calendar

LEGO Store Calendar

July 1-31: Weekly Building Challenges

Starting every Monday of July, your local LEGO store will feature space-themed building challenges where participants may have their brick creations put on display. I’m not quite sure if registration is required but I guess the calendar implies that walk-ins are also accepted.

July 12-14: It’s Christmas in July!
40292 1
The exclusive, gift-with-purchase set Christmas Gift Box (40292) from last year, 2018.

This is quite interesting since this promo is available only on weekends, and the calendar did not exactly specify what could be the exclusive offer. However, since this portion of this advert mentions that the offer is valid until supplies last, I am assuming that the set to be given away is the limited edition 2018 holiday gift-with-purchase set, Christmas Gift Box (40292).  This is a gorgeous set filled with hidden surprises, so if you missed out on this one, be sure to drop by your local LEGO Store during this 3-day promo event.

July 10-17: Monthly Mini Build – Fun Frog (40326)
40326 1
Fun Frog Mini Build (40326)

To reserve a spot, visit your local LEGO® Store starting July 5. This requires getting a bit of being used to since LEGO has dropped the online registration mechanics in favor of an in-store one. What also seems to be puzzling is that the Mini Builds page of LEGO Shop@Home specifically states that the MMB program has been discontinued since April of this year, with only the building instructions published on their page. Personally, I like the idea of having Monthly Mini Builds since a lot of kids (and adults as well) get to bring home free LEGO. We just have to wait and see where these changes will lead us.

July 18-21: Free LEGO City Space Satellite (30365) Polybag

30365 alt1

For the entire third week of July, LEGO Stores will be running a promotional that fans will find enticing. The LEGO City Space Satellite (30365) polybag can be yours for free for a minimum single receipt purchase of LEGO products worth $40 USD and above, or while supplies last.

As you can see from this LEGO Store Calendar, the month of July also marks the release of some of the highly anticipated LEGO sets such as the LEGO Jurassic Park: T. rex Rampage (75936) and the latest wave of LEGO Harry Potter 2019 sets.  Be sure to drop by at the LEGO brand store nearest you for more details about these promos.

Here’s Your Chance to Bring Home a LEGO Harry Potter Golden Snitch at Barnes & Noble

Barnes & Noble stores will be running a Make and Take building event on July 13 as promoted over at their website. LEGO fans who missed out on Indigo/Chapters Bookstore’s LEGO promotional building event in Canada last October will be glad to know that B&N will be running their own promo with a slightly upgraded  LEGO Harry Potter Golden Snitch freebie.

LEGO Harry Potter Golden Snitch

Expect more info will come in as we approach the end of this month, especially if this event requires pre-registration. While waiting, you may want to check out Rebrickable’s version of this LEGO Harry Potter Golden Snitch and see if you have the parts needed to build it. There are no building instructions included but I guess its relatively easy considering that it only comes in at 35 pieces. Take note that this version was the one given away in Indigo Bookstores in Canada.

2nd LEGO SDCC 2019 Exclusive Set Revealed: The Dark Knight of Gotham City (77903)

After unveiling its first LEGO SDCC 2019 exclusive a few days ago, LEGO has revealed its second LEGO San Diego Comic-Con 2019 exclusive set. The Dark Knight of Gotham City (77903) is a 427-piece set that features Batman himself amidst a background of Gotham’s nighttime skyline with the classic Batsignal flashing across the sky.

The Dark Knight of Gotham City (77903)

This LEGO SDCC exclusive set also features the Dark Knight perched on a typical building rooftop decked with a pair of gargoyles. I love how the designers created this nicely scaled set – they even added a sort of a water tank to add to that signature LEGO humor. Unlike the Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902) set which includes an exclusive minifigure of Captain Marvel and Maria Rambeau, this 2nd LEGO SDCC offering does not seem to contain any exclusive minifigures (I know, we have plenty of Batman minifigs out there) or parts. What seems to be unique to this set is the 2×4 tile that celebrates 80 years of Batman, though I’m not quite sure if this is printed or not.

77903 5 77903 4 77903 1

Same as before, this LEGO SDCC 2019 exclusive The Dark Knight of Gotham City (77903) will only be available to SDCC attendees via electronic raffle through the Exclusives Portal Lottery, which will begin next week. Those who will be pre-selected to purchase this set will need to shell out $45 USD to bring home this one.

Hopefully like last year, LEGO will also release the building instructions for this set.  Keep tabs with us here on The Brick Show for more updates as the third and final LEGO SDCC exclusive set is revealed.

SDCC 2019 LEGO Exclusive Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902) Revealed

San Diego Comic-Con 2019 is now set, and the throngs of this year’s SDCC attendees may now have a chance to grab one of its exclusives. As revealed today via SDCC’s blog site and Yahoo! Entertainment, we now have this year’s SDCC LEGO exclusive which is the Captain Marvel and the ASIS (77902) building set.

Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902)

Like other SDCC exclusives from last year, LEGO will be adopting the SDCC Online Exclusives Portal System via lottery in order to determine who is eligible to purchase this set. I guess LEGO event exclusives are here to stay despite LEGO’s efforts some sets available in all regions.

Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902) Captain Marvel and the Asis (77902)

The Captain Marvel and the ASIS (77902) set comes in at 271 pieces and is expected to retail for $45. It features a new minifigure iteration of Captain Marvel herself, a new minifig of Carol Danver’s former flying partner and ace pilot Monica Rambeau, and Goose going Flerken-crazy. The central part of the build is Captain Marvel’s signature jet – the Asis. The box art also sports Captain Marvel, drawn over as a stylized comic book cover. Similar to last year’s LEGO SDCC exclusives, we can somehow expect that LEGO will be releasing the building instructions for this set, though the real catch here is the new minifigs of Captain Marvel and Monica Rambeau. LEGO has only released three non-exclusive sets featuring Captain Marvel: Avenjet Space Mission (76049) from 2016, and the more recent Captain Marvel and the Skrull Attack (76127) and Avengers Compound Battle (76131) sets from Avengers Endgame.

We can also expect more SDCC 2019 LEGO exclusives to be revealed anytime soon, so be sure to turn on your notifications for the latest LEGO news and updates here on The Brick Show.
