LEGO Reveals New 2020 LEGO Star Wars Sets In Time for SDCC

In addition to the new LEGO Marvel Avengers Hulk Helicopter Drop (76144) that LEGO will showcase at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con, the company has revealed two new 2020 LEGO Star Wars sets that will also be displayed at the event. It looks like LEGO will be throwing in a pair of new sets that calls back on some of the most memorable opening scenes from the very first Star Wars movie ever made: Episode IV: A New Hope.

Both sets render these opening scenes as we fondly remember them. The first one being Obi-Wan’s Hut (75270) which comes in at 200 pieces, and features minifigures of Obi-Wan, Luke Skywalker, R2-D2, and a Tusken Raider. Unique to this set is a new microfigure of Princess Leia’s hologram which she used to send a distress signal to Obi-Wan.

The second set is another classic call back with Luke Skywalker’s Landspeeder (75271). To be frank, this is the fourth Star Wars Luke Landspeeder that LEGO has released over the years since the theme’s inception in 1999. So for some, this may no longer come as a surprise. However, this new set boasts of having more details than its predecessors and also features the minifig versions of Luke with a new blaster rifle clip, C-3PO, and a Jawa with his buildable cave hideout.

Read on for the rest of the product descriptions for these new 2020 LEGO Star Wars sets, both of which will be available to the public starting January 1 next year. If you’re happening to drop by at SDCC from July 18 to 21, then be sure to check out these sets to be displayed at the LEGO Booth. Thanks to The Brothers Brick for the tip.

After the announcement of giving global access to this once regional exclusive set, LEGO was true to its word of offering to the rest of the global LEGO fandom after three months from its initial release in the area.

Just click on the link below and read on for the complete product description for the LEGO Dragon Boat Race (80103). New LEGO Overwatch Sets Coming in October 2019

If you recall earlier this month, gaming giants Activision and Blizzard confirmed that they intend to continue their collaboration with LEGO to come up with new LEGO Overwatch sets for 2019. The reveal was made during this year’s Nuremberg Toy Fair back in January, with these new LEGO Overwatch building sets labeled as sets 75976 and 75977 respectively. Thanks to a report from Promobricks, we now have an idea on when these sets will be released.

Promobricks was able to snap a photo of a physical LEGO 2HY 2019 Catalog, particularly on the page where the current LEGO Overwatch sets are located. What is interesting is that this physical copy of the German LEGO catalog indicates specifically an October release date, whereas this information is particularly omitted on its online catalog counterparts. More peculiar is the fact that the German online version was pulled out from LEGO’s servers which gives the impression that LEGO does not intend to reveal it yet.

New LEGO Overwatch Sets

We don’t have definitive info as of this posting on what these 2 new sets will be. But rumors circulating across LEGO fan communities suggests that sets 75976 and 75977 will be featuring brick-built versions of Wrecking Ball and the Junkertown Bike respectively. I guess its safe to assume that if in case these rumors turn out to be true, then we can expect to see minifig versions of Hammond (aka Wrecking Ball) and Junkrat, plus a bigfig counterpart of Roadhog.

Rumor has it that LEGO Overwatch set 75976 will feature a brick-built Wrecking Ball.

LEGO Overwatch set 75977 is rumored to feature Junkrat and Roadhog in their Junkertown Bike.

We just probably have to wait until August to see our first official images of these new LEGO Overwatch sets. And for the meantime, if you haven’t added these to your LEGO collection yet, be sure to check out the full range of LEGO Overwatch sets at LEGO Shop@Home or via Amazon.

Fans of the global hit Netflix original series will appreciate the authentic details of this highly collectible LEGO® Stranger Things toy – 75810 The Upside Down. This sturdy, brick-built model can flip between the real world and The Upside Down. The design of the model’s building instructions makes it a great shared building experience with friends and family. The Byers’ house features Will’s bedroom, the living room and the dining room. The Upside Down version of the house, from an alternate dimension, features all the rooms from the real-world model but with a dark, vine-covered, dilapidated look that fans will instantly recognize from the series. With 8 Stranger Things figures, each with its own accessories, this playset makes a great gift for Stranger Things fans who will love to build and display this model to show their passion for the series.

  • The Byers’ house features a front porch with furniture, living room, dining room and Will’s bedroom.

  • Will’s bedroom plays a central role in the series, which this model faithfully replicates, including details like Will’s boombox, bed, desk, desk lamp, drawings and movie posters.

The LEGO Stranger Things The Upside Down (75810) set will be available for an early release for LEGO VIP members on May 15, and at all LEGO stores and shop.LEGO.com beginning June 1. The set measures 44.6 x 32.8 centimeters, and uses some interesting pieces and building techniques to replicate the rotting, deteriorating aspect of the Upside Down. The set also features a kind of flip action that lets you switch between the normal and Upside Down worlds. The reverse side of the set also underscores some of the most significant parts of the Byers home, including its famous Christmas lights and alphabet wall. I’m quite intrigued about the stability of this set, and on how this will manage to stand on its own. I’m also interested to see how the Demogorgon will fair in its LEGO minifig form. Word also has it that this will be the only licensed set under the Stranger Things theme, so it might be better for LEGO fans of the hit Netflix series to keep a close eye on this.

In case you don’t know yet, the cool builders behind Build Better Bricks also has their own custom brick-built version of the Byer’s House available in their site. Be sure to visit B3’s website to check out the building instructions for this custom set.

Here’s a First Look at the LEGO Spider-Man: Far From Home Minifigure Pack (40343)

By now we can safely say that the frenzy for Marvel’s Avengers: Endgame has begun to subside, while faithful followers of the MCU franchise now look forward to Spider-Man: Far from Home this July. This sequel to Homecoming is the true final part of Phase 3, and has already gotten plenty of tie-ins coming soon from LEGO. However it’s not all adventurous set-pieces and hi-tech vehicles for LEGO Marvel’s Far from Home. They’ll also have some smaller products that can easily be afforded. Rather than one minifigure though, they have a bunch included in this one. Check out this upcoming LEGO Spider-Man: Far From Home Minifigure Pack (40343).

The first image of this product comes to us courtesy of French LEGO news source Brick Heroes. It’s a 49-piece blister pack with enough minifig components for three characters. With the Far From Home Minifigure Pack (40343) we get Spider-Man, Maria Hill and Peter’s friend Ned. There’re also leftovers to make a drone and accessories.

From what Brick Heroes says, we’ll only get the Maria Hill and Ned minifigs exclusively on this pack. That would make this set a hot commodity for collectors looking to complete the LEGO Spider-Man: Far from Home tie-ins. There’s no word yet on its availability, but the film premieres July 2.

For the time being, while waiting for the LEGO Spider-Man: Far From Home Minifigure Pack (40343), be sure to check out the rest of the LEGO tie-in sets under the Far From Home subtheme such as the Molten Man Battle (76128), Hydro-Man Attack (76129), and Stark Jet and the Drone Attack (76130) all currently available at shop.LEGO.com.

Signing Event for LEGO Stranger Things Sets Slated Next Week

LEGO Stranger Things: to say that is both weird and exciting as one thinks of the possibilities. The hit Netflix series is both a 1980s nostalgia trip and a scary cool coming-of-age story. It also becomes perhaps one of LEGO’s big-boy (age-wise) licensed franchises alongside LEGO Overwatch and the like. After building a foundation of anticipation with their first teases, LEGO is now ready to promote their LEGO Stranger Things sets. It’s no longer a secret that the theme will launch next week at the Leicester Square LEGO Store. New details have popped up about it though, as updated on the LEGO events page on Facebook.

For starters, not only will the LEGO Stranger Things line be introduced there at London, there will be autographs signed. By that we mean Leicester LEGO Store buyers of the new set can meet their lead designer, Justin Ramden. He’ll be on hand to sign.

One more thing: there will be a suggested dress theme for Londoner guests appearing at the product launch. As if you don’t know, it’ll be an Eighties party there on the 15th, with “tubular” refreshments on hand for all comers.

Collectors should save £179.99 for this LEGO Strangers set. Furthermore, only 400 participants will be able to buy the set at Leicester Square on launch day. Lastly, each buyer can only have two sets max per purchase, to leave enough for everyone on that day. With that, we’ll leave you with this curious “80’s era” LEGO commercial that we think is part of the promotion.

Possible LEGO Trolls Movie Tie-In Sets Teased for 2020

It’s always awesome when two companies from the same country collaborate on one effort or other. LEGO isn’t the only classic toy to come from Denmark, you see. In the 1960s another Danish woodworker, Thomas Dam, created the iconic troll doll. It became a recurring toy fad throughout the decades, and is now currently under DreamWorks. And that’s why DreamWorks released the “Trolls” movie in 2016. It was popular enough that it got a sequel green-light. “Trolls World Tour” is expected to premiere next year. And it looks like this Danish-originating toy line is teaming up with LEGO for a bunch of LEGO Trolls movie tie-in sets.

This much could be inferred from a recent Twitter post by LEGO. It showed a minifigure from the shoulders down, wearing a tag with the movie title. They captioned the image with “It’s all glitter and happiness,” two taglines long associated with the Trolls line.

The question of how DreamWorks Trolls will be interpreted in LEGO is quite interesting. Troll dolls are famous for their furry up-combed hair. Could we be having minifigure heads with Troll hair wisps on the scalps? That’s an intriguing possibility.

It should be recalled that the original DreamWorks “Trolls” movie in 2016 got an Oscar nomination for Best Original Song. One has to wonder how “Trolls World Tour” will try to match or top that. In any case, this is a wonderful instance of Danish toy brand power, and one we hope could happen again. “Trolls World Tour” premieres 2020.

From the looks of it, it seems that LEGO is looking forward to expand its licensed themes following its recent tease of the LEGO Stranger Things line. Though we may not always agree with LEGO on its choice of what particular pop culture reference it would like to immortalize on plastic, we can be quite sure that LEGO will always bring out the best from these themes.

First Images of the LEGO Regional Sets Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (80101) and Dragon Dance (80102) Released

Earlier this month, The LEGO Group revealed its plan of offering regional sets that will be released exclusively in China in honor of its partnership with the said country, and its growing LEGO fan base in the area. Back then, we only had a sneak peek on these two sets which are slated to arrive in January 1, 2019. And this time around, we now have more images of these LEGO regional sets in the form of the Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (80101) and the Dragon Dance (80102) sets courtesy of Promobricks.

Though it’s nice of LEGO to create sets that reflects the local region of a certain place or country (which it has been doing quite prominently in Asia), some fans in other parts of the globe are still a bit disappointed that they can’t get these sets directly from their nearby LEGO Store. Fans may probably just have to resort in buying overpriced sets from the secondary markets in order to add these to their collection.

In any case, these LEGO regional sets are excellent themselves – the Chinese New Year’s Eve Dinner (80101) is vividly colored with various printed elements and stickers, while accentuated with various Chinese symbols that signify hopes of wealth and prosperity. The selling point of the Dragon Dance (80102) on the other hand, is probably its moving mechanism very similar to that of the new LEGO FORMA set. The collection of brightly colored minifigures plus the Piggy Guy from CMF Series 12 makes this set a sure win.

Let’s take a closer look at the images below, and feel free to share your thoughts about these in the comments section below.
