First 2017 LEGO Ideas Review Results Are Finally In With TRON Legacy Light Cycle Being the Next Official LEGO Ideas Set.

The LEGO Ideas Review Team has finally revealed our next LEGO Ideas set. Topping off the list of 11 candidates that reached that coveted 10K votes, we now have the TRON Legacy Light Cycle by BrickBros UK. This set is based on Walt Disney Pictures’ 2010 sequel TRON: Legacy, from the original 1982 film, TRON. Sam Flynn’s Light Cycle is probably one of the most visually stunning piece of machine in the movie, which was perfectly captured in LEGO bricks by sibling designers Tom and Drew of BrickBros UK. Earlier this month, there has been some rumors going around that a particular LEGO TRON set is in the works, considering that licensing will not be an issue since Disney owns the rights for the film. Now we have confirmation that the said rumor is indeed true, and we now have the LEGO Ideas TRON Legacy Light Cycle as our next official LEGO Ideas set.

According to an interview with the LEGO Ideas team, Tom and Drew does not have an exact piece count for the set, but it is likely to be at around 100-200 LEGO elements and pieces. Unsatisfied with existing MOCs of the iconic TRON vehicle, the brothers came up with the idea of building one of their own and have it done on a minifigure scale. Particularly challenging is coming up with an overall color scheme that will give justice to the Light Cycle. Tom and Drew eventually choose predominantly black and trans blue pieces for the bike, and same trans blue pieces and azure plates for the base.

We don’t have any official word yet regarding its price and availability, as it is still to be fined tuned by the LEGO Ideas Design Team later on. Here’s the usual LEGO Ideas video announcement, as posted over at their Twitter page.

Special mention was also given to the creators of the Surf Rescue Project, the father and son duo of Damien and Aiden McRae. Damien was diagnosed with Stage 4 skin cancer and was inspired to create this set to spread awareness of this skin disease, and how to prevent it. Though their set wasn’t eventually approved, LEGO promised that they will be working closely with Damien and Aiden on special projects to share their story and message.

In closing, LEGO Ideas has also officially announced that the Second 2017 LEGO Ideas Review Results will be coming in early of 2018. We have a relatively low number of sets – six in fact – that gathered the needed support from May and September of this year, so we just have to wait until then.

Now, I wonder what’s going in with LEGO Idea Voltron… can’t wait to see the final design on that set.

2018 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Black Panther Set Images Revealed!

We now have what looks like official images of the next wave of 2018 LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets that pays tribute to MCU’s rendition of the mighty Black Panther! First revealed by azanianimates over at Instagram, the famed king of Wakanda will be receiving the same LEGO treatment similar to what we saw in Spider-Man: Homecoming with its Beware the Vulture (76083) and ATM Heist Battle (76082) sets, and Thor: Ragnarok with Thor VS Hulk: Arena Clash (76088) and The Ultimate Battle for Asgard (76084).

The LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Black Panther subtheme will consist of two sets (without being too spoilery with regards to the film) and are expected to be out in stores by January. Check out these official images.

Rhino Face-Off by the Mine (76099)

Minifigures include: Black Panther, Okoye, and Killmonger; 229 pieces; $19.99

I’m not quite sure if this will be an actual rhino or a robotic one that we will see in the film. In Thor: Ragnarok, we saw Fenris Wolf to be, well, an actual humungous wolf in spite of the fact that LEGO’s rendition of him in set 76084 turned out to be more like a mechanical contraption. But considering how the set designers rendered this rhino, even using legs that look more organic, and giving it a more robotic looking upper body, it’s kind of hard to tell if LEGO is hinting at a real rhino or not. The mine I guess is referring to precious, raw Vibranium (the same material in which Captain America’s shield is made from) that can only be found in Wakanda, and is the main target of Black Panther’s nemesis, Killmonger. It is also interesting to see how accurate these minifigs are, considering how these MCU characters were revealed in the film’s official trailer last October.

Royal Talon Fighter Attack (76100)

Minifigures include: Black Panther, Nakia, Killmonger, Ulysses Klaue; 358 pieces; $29.99

The Royal Talon Fighter was also first revealed in the first full trailer of Black Panther, and seems to represent the official war plane of choice of Nakia (played by Lupita Nyong’o in the film). We also see Killmonger in a ceremonial tribal mask, and Ulysses Klaue equipped with a blaster cannon, which we saw him use in the trailer, decimating a car during a street chase.

These LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Black Panther sets are expected to be in stores in January, just before the release of Black Panther MCU film in cinemas on February 16.

The LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) Is Now Back at Amazon!

It has been a bit like a treasure hunt lately, trying to spot what could be the most difficult to find LEGO Ideas set around. From its rumored discontinuation, to its elusive and brief reappearance at shop.LEGO.com, the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) is like a LEGO set that landed on the dark side of the moon: you know it’s out there but you can’t just put your finger where it is.

But perhaps this piece of relatively good news may be a much needed one, especially for those of you who are still eagerly waiting to have their try on this set since June. This time around, Amazon has listed set 21309 and is now available for purchase.

As of this posting, the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) is now back in stock on Amazon for the same retail price of $119.99. This set is still listed at shop.LEGO.com as Temporarily Out of Stock so it’s a breath of fresh air to see this set up again. So if you still feel the need to tick off the NASA Apollo Saturn V from your LEGO wishlist, then this is the best time to do so. Similar to the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor, we really can’t tell if and when the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V will still available online, so I guess it’s a choice that you have to make as soon as possible. The LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922) Designer Video Is Unique as the Set Itself.

This year’s next LEGO Batman Movie D2C set has now been released, and in just three days since its official release last Brick Friday, the LEGO Batman Movie The Joker Manor (70922) has been in high demand, so much so that only backorders are currently accepted over at shop.LEGO.com., and fans of the LEGO film and theme will have to wait until December 11 for their sets to be released.

The overwhelming response and positive reviews that the set received doesn’t come as a surprise. The Joker Manor (70922) is by far the most visually creative and technically sophisticated TLBM set that LEGO master designers ever came up with it. It is so unique in itself – with all its crazy fun color scheme and inclusion of new elements, that even its Designer Video comes to us in a quite unorthodox way. Featuring interviews with the set’s top-notch designers Marcos Bessa (LEGO Senior Designer) and Paul-Constantin Turcanu (LEGO Senior Graphic Designer), this latest LEGO Designer Video pays tribute to The Joker Manor in a rather maverick way.

Considered by fans as one of the many highlights of this set, the Joker Manor also comes with a functional roller coaster that goes around the build itself.

As of the moment, The Joker Manor (70922) is only on backorders at shop.LEGO.com to be received by December 11, and is currently not available via Amazon or any other online toy stores. If you haven’t purchased your own set, and you’re willing to wait until then, then better place your order ASAP because you don’t know if this set will also have the same fate like that of the LEGO Ideas NASA Apollo Saturn V (21309) and the even more close-to-impossible to find, LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon (75192).

Darth Vader is Coming in 2018…In LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz Form

The LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz 2-pack set of Kylo Ren and Rey (41489) have been available to fans for near-on two weeks now. And those who have decided to purchase the box were greeted with an unexpected yet pleasant surprise. It came in the form of a foldout insert that recalled one of the famous teaser posters of the Star Wars prequel series.

Yes, that poster. See, the insert is a reproduction of the tease, but combining the aesthetics of the sequel trilogy that began with 2015’s The Force Awakens, and LEGO of course. In the foreground is a blank BrickHeadz figure, devoid of all features.

And behind the BrickHeadz, a familiar shadow. Yes, Darth Vader will be coming in LEGO Star Wars BrickHeadz form next year. The foldout poster was shared by one Marc Morita on Reddit, so a big thank-you to him for sharing with the rest of the fandom.

Nice shout-out to Jake Lloyd there. It’s a shame the whole Star Wars acting experience soured him on showbiz enough to retire in 2001. Well, we’re waiting to be impressed for Lord Vader’s BrickHeadz, coming in 2018. May he not find you lacking faith, lest he be “disturbed.”

It was the set re-release that generated a lot of buzz and discussion when it was made known. LEGO had earmarked it for release on Cyber Monday, marking the last week of November before December and the Holidays start in earnest. We’re talking about the LEGO Creator Taj Mahal (10256), hailed by LEGO as their second-largest set ever made.

Well, Cyber Monday is now in full swing, and that means that the LEGO Taj Mahal (10256) with all its 5,923 bricks is now indeed up for sale on Shop@Home, on five major regions for LEGO. Christmas Building Activity Events All Set at the LEGO House in Billund.

The excitement for now is with Black Friday, but quickly following in its heels is the last big celebration period of every year: the Yuletide Season. A great many global brands and companies have something planned for the occasion wherever they may be in the world, but The LEGO Group is one of those that are definitely on a whole other level when it comes to celebrating Christmas.

As per usual, the center of these Holiday events for LEGO is back in its home country of Denmark, at their company town of Billund. They also have a new festive venue wherein they could really hype up the local residents for the last month of the year: The Home of the Brick or LEGO House.

It also doesn’t take much of a genius to figure out that these events will involve LEGO brick building, and lots of it. All these will take place in the free-admission Square area of the LEGO House, where guests of all ages will be encouraged to put their builder skills to use in assembling whatever Holiday decors they desire. They’ll even have “Play Agents” on hand to help out with the building if necessary.

Here is the list of special events to be held at the Home of the Brick, courtesy of the LEGO website. Note that it starts on the very day after the special Airbnb hospitality event is held. Residents of Billund and tourists travelling there from late November to December will certainly have lots of LEGO fun there.

25-26 Nov: We build lots of small trees and plant them all over LEGO Square.
1-4 Dec: We build the big tree (up to 6 meters) and host a charity event with great giveaways.
8-11 Dec: We create decorations for the tree.
15-18 Dec: We make presents for the tree.
22-23 Dec: We add the last details and countdown to Christmas Eve.

Latest 2018 LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter (5005249) Minifigure Revealed.

We haven’t entered the first quarter of 2018, and yet we already have a glimpse of what LEGO has in store for Easter. Thanks to Bouwsteentjes, we have our very first image of what seems to be our next LEGO Seasonal Iconic Easter minifigure (5005249). 2018’s Iconic Easter minifigure still retains the cardboard box accessory as its predecessors, while the minifigure itself bears a new torso print. Check out the image below.

It seems this kind of minifigure promotional is here to stay. If you recall, last December, we saw the return of the Gingerbread Man CMF from Series 11, as a freebie for any qualifying LEGO purchase during last year’s holiday season. This year, we also have two minifig promotional: the Chicken Suit Guy (5004468) and the Caveman and Cavewoman (5004936) set.

There are no specifics yet on when, and where we can avail of this latest collectible minifigure, nor did Bouwsteentjes mentioned anything about the source of its image. However, my best guess is that it will make its official reveal soon once the LEGO Store Calendars for 2018 rolls out.
