LEGO Unikitty Gets Another Polybag – the Unikitty Castle Room (5005239)

It looks like the LEGO Store Calendar for the month of August 2018 has been sent out early, and eventually, new polybag has been revealed – the LEGO Unikitty Castle Room (5005239). This is the second polybag offering that LEGO has announced following the reveal of the Unikitty Roller Coaster Wagon (30406) which will launch on August 1 together with the rest of the LEGO Unikitty sets featuring the ever so positive local resident of Cloud Cuckoo Land.

A closer look at the polybag’s image (courtesy of Brickfinder) reveals that the polybag contains a cardboard cutout that features a cross-section of Unikitty’s castle crib. It contains several pieces of brightly colored LEGO pieces to create her couch and aquarium, along with the usual brick-built figure of Unikitty with a unique face print. It also includes a sticker sheet to add more fun and color to the cardboard cutout.

As mentioned in the August LEGO Store Caledar, the LEGO Unikitty Castle Room (5005239) comes as a free promotional for every $25 worth of LEGO Unikitty sets. Though opinions are mixed with regards to the reception of the LEGO Unikitty sets, a lot of younger LEGO fans find these as a must-have to their LEGO collection. Including this polybag as a promotional with a relatively low price point surely adds to the appeal of these upcoming sets.

Thanks again to the Brickfinder for this image, and to The Brick Fan for additional info.

LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) Polybag Promotional Revealed

British LEGO fan site Brick Fanatics was present during the UK launch of the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets earlier today, to have a firsthand look at what these exciting sets have to offer. Other than the awesome sets on display, one piece of surprise that LEGO also revealed during the launch event is a new polybag which is reported to be an upcoming promotional tie-in with the Wizarding World sets. The LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) polybag is a little set that shows Harry as he begins his wizarding adventures aboard Platform 9 ¾ as seen in the first film of the franchise, The Sorcerer’s Stone.

LEGO Harry Potter 30407 Harrys Journey to Hogwarts 3

This polybag features Harry in his Hogwarts uniform (though I feel this is not entirely accurate if you will consider the timeline of the events in the film – he is not yet wearing his uniform in that particular scene), some of his luggage and including his trusted owl, Hedwig. This is a great and cheap way to have Harry and Hedwig’s minifigures either on their own, or as an additional set to add to the Hogwarts Express (75955) set.

There’s no exact date on when this promotional LEGO Harry Potter Harry’s Journey to Hogwarts (30407) polybag will be offered, but it safe to guess that it will also launch sometime in July once the LEGO Wizarding World Harry Potter sets go live.

Thanks to Brick Fanatics once again for sharing this image.

More LEGO xtra Polybags Found: Playmat Surfaces for LEGO Set Building

Right at the start of this month we shone a spotlight on a little-hyped new product line from LEGO, for builders of sets and vignettes who need a wider variety of props. The LEGO xtra polybag sets promised plenty of accessories and window dressing for the benefit of dedicated builders. But when we mentioned that LEGO xtra was little-hyped, we also meant minimally stocked. The European LEGO stores that carried the polybags quickly had their stocks sold out. And no word has gone out yet on whether or not there will be LEGO xtra in the North American market anytime soon. Still, those who managed to buy any of the xtra polybags have shared a notable piece of information regarding this uncommon LEGO product line. The LEGO  xtra Playmat polybags have instruction sheets that also featured three more products of the xtra line: not more LEGO props, but three possible play-mats for setting vignettes.

The three additional LEGO xtra Playmat polybags each contain two plastic mats which, lain side by side, depicts a type of surface: roads (853840), grass (853841), and a sandy seashore (85342). Each play may also includes several LEGO pieces with matching colors to that of the mat surface.

We have no concrete idea how much these LEGO xtra Playmat polybags will cost, though it’s possible that they are priced higher than the preceding prop polybags (€3.99 apiece/$4.67). Again, these and the earlier xtra sets (40309 to 40313) are rare sights in Europe, and yet to appear in the US.

SPOTTED: New LEGO xtra Polybags Featuring Set and Minifigure Accessories

LEGO builders who own multiple sets in the vein of City, which has lots of buildings and minifigures, might have felt that they could do with having the option to buy more props and design options for their minifigures or set surroundings; but at the same time not have to buy a whole new set.

We’re not sure if LEGO managed to get this vibe from their customers or if they came up with the idea on their own, but now a new series of polybags have been spotted at Hamburg’s LEGO Store by Promobricks. They’re branded as LEGO xtra.

Promobricks tells us that these LEGO xtra polybags contain copies of various props that could be used to spice up a location scene in a LEGO City or similar set. There are vehicles, and food items, and shrubbery, and street infrastructure galore. Let’s have a closer look at these polybags.

  • Food (40309) – 30 pieces of pizzas, beer mugs, bottle-case, croissants, roast chicken, fish, carrots, etc.

  • Trees and Plants (40310) – 24 pieces of trees, shrubs, flowers, picket fences and so on

  • Traffic Lights (40311) – 46 pieces for traffic lights, wheelbarrow, broom and trash can

  • Streetlamps (40312) – 34 pieces for lamps (regular and with road signs), newspaper vending booth, mailbox and more

  • Bicycles (40313) – 21 pieces for bicycles, skateboards, riding helmets, backpack…

But Hamburg isn’t getting LEGO xtra all to itself for long. The news is that this new polybag line is going to hit more LEGO Stores on Friday, June 1. LEGO Store Hamburg priced them at €3.99 apiece, so that’s around $4.67 in the US. We’ll just have to wait.

LEGO Ninjago Dragon Hunter (30547) Polybag Found

It looks like LEGO Ninjago’s latest subtheme will also have a polybag of its own. After the reveal of its initial summer wave of LEGO Ninjago Free the Dragons sets which is based on the TV show’s Season 9 offering, it looks like LEGO has thrown in a polybag set to go along with it.

This particular LEGO Ninjago Dragon Hunter (30547) polybag was found listed on eBay, and it looks like it features a unique Dragon Hunter minifigure not found in any of the seven sets originally revealed. There is no other information listed on the eBay posting regarding this polybag, but it is likely that it is made up of 50-60 pieces. I like the clever use of the LEGO Nexo Knights swords on the dragon’s legs and tail, and the over white color scheme of the dragon’s build. We don’t have any release date or price point as of the moment, but we’re sure to keep you posted once more info comes in.

On a similar note, the Japanese magazine CoroCoro has just shared via its YouTube channel a teaser for the Ninja’s next adventure in the realm of Oni and Dragons. Though it is dubbed in Japanese, I have to say that there are some spoilers ahead so be warned. Thanks to Brick Samurai for the tip.

New LEGO Creator Christmas Train (30543) Polybag Spotted

It seems were getting our first look at another Christmas seasonal set, followed by the reveal of the LEGO Friends Advent Calendar 2018 (41353). It’s not yet summer, but LEGO has already given us a taste of things to come with a new seasonal set, the LEGO Creator Christmas Train (30543) polybag spotted over at Amazon Germany.

This very much welcomed addition to the LEGO Christmas seasonal polybags, which has been dominated by various iterations of Christmas trees, snowmen, and St. Nicks. We don’t know much about this set other than it comes at 66 pieces. Most likely, it will also be a promotional offering, a gift-with-purchase during the holiday season at shop.LEGO.com and at LEGO brand stores.

If you want to have a head start in setting up your LEGO winter village MOC as early as now, and you can’t wait to have the LEGO Creator Christmas Train added to your village, then you may want to check this eBay listing. But paying 40 bucks for a 66-piece set is not my thing, so I will prefer to wait for LEGO’s official announcement later on. For now, let’s take a look at these images.

First Look At the LEGO Unikitty! Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775) Blind Bags

Brickset has uploaded our first images of the contents of the upcoming LEGO Unikitty! Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775), which were first announced by LEGO last April. Found over at a LEGO Certified Store in Zagreb, Croatia, Brickset reader Alan K was kind enough to share these images. The flyer itself follows the typical collector sheet format similar to LEGO CMFs. The sheet and blindbag itself is marked with the Series 1 logo, which suggests that LEGO intends to follow-up with another wave later on.

What I find particularly interesting is the use of new parts to make the Unikitty! Collectible Figures more stable, especially at the neck area. Unlike Unikitty’s first iteration, this later version is sturdier thanks to the introduction of a new 1×3 inverted tile with hole in the middle as you can see below. This allows a 1×1 round plate with shaft to be inserted snugly underneath. It’s surely an improvement both functionally and aesthetically. The cloud baseplate is also an excellent piece with lots of potential.

However, it should still be noted that feeling your way through these LEGO Unikitty blindbags is practically impossible. So if you’re planning to collect all 12 of them, then your best shot is to purchase the whole box and share some to your Unikitty-minded friends. Are you planning to get all of the LEGO Unikitty! Series 1 Collectible Figures? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO Legoland Star Wars Microbuilds Polybag Promos Spotted

May the 4th may all be over, but it looks like there are some plenty of surprises from LEGO that keeps on popping up on eBay. This time around, Minifigure Price Guide shares what seems to be a Legoland promotional during the Star Wars Day celebration. This promotional polybags features some of the most iconic characters of the Star Wars franchise rendered in LEGO bricks following a micro, Miniland style. The style of these builds follows the same style – though obviously smaller in scale – as that of last year’s LEGO in-store DC Super Hero Girls miniland figures.

The sets itself are numbered which suggests that this is not just a particular LEGO store promotional that is unique to the branch where it is found. Though I am not particularly fond of this style miniland builds, I’m impressed on the way they are designed and how they clearly show these famed Star Wars characters of Han Solo, Chewie, Luke and Obi-Wan in just a handful of LEGO bricks. Check out the images below.  Click on the links to see more details over at eBay.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Teen Groot Keychain (5005244) Polybag Promo Now Available At LEGO Stores and LEGO Shop@Home

The latest May-only LEGO giveaway promo to start today…brings us all the way back to last month and Avengers: Infinity War. Requisite spoiler warning here, but man, we sure lost a lot of great heroes on that black day. One of them was our favorite Vin Diesel-voiced alien tree, Groot.

Last we saw of him, Groot had just passed his cute baby phase in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 to become the angst-acting and nigh-uncooperative teen in Infinity War. But when push comes to shove he helped complete the forging of Thor’s new weapon, only to “disintegrate by Thanos”.

If you want something to remind you of Groot until his fate is finalized in Avengers 4, perhaps you’d like to collect this LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Teen Groot Keychain (5005244) polybag, the associated promo of which, as noted on the May 2018 LEGO Store Promotional Calendar, started May 7.

As noted on the promo info page at LEGO Shop@Home, the Teen Groot Keychain (5005244) is can be yours if you rack up a total minimum LEGO purchase of $50. The Shop@Home promo will run all the way until May 20 – two Sundays from now – or until its supplies last.

Outside of LEGO Shop@Home however, you can find LEGO MSH Teen Groot’s keychain (5005244) at Target, which has been selling it earlier at $5.99 apiece. By this point in time however, they’ll probably have it discounted. Still, Groot fans joining Rocket Raccoon in his mourning should go get one now.

LEGOLAND and eBay Discovery: LEGO Unikitty Roller Coaster Wagon (30406) Polybag

When you’re a character who became breakout popular in a film where you’re just part of a supporting cast, and you get your very own TV show afterwards, you can almost bet that the merchandising won’t be that far behind. This is the lucky break of LEGO Movie’s mascot character Unikitty.

Last month, we already saw quite the number of LEGO Unkitty sets being announced for release this summer, as well as a batch of collectible figures to hunt down. Still, there’s one item that appears to have been missed on previews – the LEGO Unikitty Roller Coaster Wagon (30406) polybag.

30406 1

While the announced new LEGO Unikitty products have been scheduled to become available around June, the Unikitty Roller Coaster Wagon (30406) has already arrived at store shelves in LEGOLAND theme parks and several LEGOLAND Discovery Centers. It’s also been recently listed on eBay, indicating that there’s several circulating online.

The set is comprised of 46 pieces that can be combined to form Unikitty and her wagon, a wheeled vehicle with a mechanism to shoot a disc from a launcher at front. Unikitty herself is noted to have a new neck configuration, a reverse 1×3 plate connecting to a pin.

When compared to the first Unikitty models that came out as tie-ins for The LEGO Movie in 2014, the Unikitty in polybag 30406 looks to have a more sturdy, articulated neck, which makes her head more stable. If this is how her figures are built from now on, it’s an improvement.

No word has come from LEGO yet as to whether the LEGO Unikitty Roller Coaster Wagon (30406) will be found elsewhere from the LEGOLAND venues later on. The eBay listing for it seems on the verge of running out of stock too. For now we curious observers will just have to again wait and see.
