LEGO Blueprints for UCS Y-Wing (75181) Available for Free to Black VIP Cardholders on May the 4th

For quite some time after it was first introduced, the Star Wars-themed LEGO VIP Black Card was tied to one of the most impressive model sets ever rolled out by the company: the UCS Millennium Falcon (75192). Of all Star Wars promos since, this was most synonymous with the card.

StarWarsVIP

Now however, LEGO is keen to remind their VIP members with the Black Card that they can get more out of it where Star Wars is concerned. For May the 4th, VIP cardholders might be able to avail of an official technical blueprint for their UCS Y-Wing Bomber (75181).

75181 1

This information comes to us by way of French LEGO news source Hello Bricks. And the preview image of the Y-Wing (75181) blueprint is out of this world, showing how the Star Wars star-fighter’s mechanics were translated into LEGO bricks and building elements. It’s a LEGO Star Wars tech-geek’s dream.

LEGO Star Wars black VIP Card 75181 Y Wing Blueprint

And the nice part is, LEGO Black VIP members can get this sweet technical illustration during May the 4th with any LEGO Star Wars purchase, without minimum amounts. That’s…marginally better than the regular non-VIP shoppers who do get a minimum LEGO purchase amount. But at least everyone has a chance.

May the 4th be with you this coming Friday, as the precious blueprint of the UCS Y-Wing (75181) comes to The LEGO Store, for free especially if you have a Black VIP card. Other LEGO promos for Star Wars Day are: free BB-8 (40288) polybag with minimum $75 purchase; LEGO Store “Make & Take” Porg; twice the VIP points on many LEGO Star Wars products.

Toys R Us in Germany Having May 5 Event with Make and Take Activity

The light has gone out for Toys R Us in the UK; it’s going out in the US. But the toy retailer, or at least its branding, is soldiering on in a few more nations. One of these is Germany, and their May the 4th event is proof of endurance.

May the 4th or Star Wars Day, has been a major (unofficial) celebration of the franchise including its merchandise tie-ins. It usually extends to May 5 and even 6, known to the fans as the “Revenge of the Fifth/Sixth” Days (after the prequel Episode III). That’s where TRU Germany strikes.

A German Toys R Us flyer for the occasion notes the May 5 Star Wars thing as happening in almost all their branches in the country barring five (Sankt Augustin, Schwerin, Münster, Hanau and Recklinghausen). Events are what’s been expected in other TRU stores in the days before its decline.

Solo A Star Wars Story LEGO make take 867x1024

German customers coming into their TRUs that Saturday can engage in some Star Wars games, a scavenger hunt, and also the time-honored Make and Take activity, one of the subjects being a mini-build Millennium Falcon. Maybe it’ll even follow the “new” color scheme seen in Solo: A Star Wars Story.

In a way, Toys R Us Germany has gotten a more appropriate model to celebrate the Star Wars Days this year compared to The LEGO Store. After all, Solo is premiering later that month, so having LEGO Store offer a sequel-era BB-8 polybag (40288) feels off. All seems good for the German TRU, which looks like it’ll stay awhile longer.

More Images of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657) Released

A couple of days ago, Italian online retailer Radio Kontrol gave us our first look of the LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657). Though the site only gave us a glimpse by posting the set’s box art, this time thanks to Alternate, we now have our first batch of official set images.  The Ninjago City Docks (70657) is expected to hit store shelves by June 1, retailing for 244 Euros in France and 230 Euros in Germany. As a sort of expansion set for your ever growing LEGO Ninjago City, the Ninjago City Docks acts like a modular add on to the Ninjago City (70620) set using several Technic pins. However, it is still a complete set all on its own.

Amazon France also posted a brief description of the Ninjago City Docks (70657), and here’s a copy of that in English via Google Translate, followed by additional images.

“Lloyd, Cole and his friends had a great time in The LEGO NINJAGO MOVIE ™ 70657 The NINJAGO Docks and defends against the attacks of Garmadon. This richly detailed complex includes a port with a functional crane, a boat, as well as 2 levels of Old World locations, including a grocery store with a flip-flop and rotating rotisserie, a house with a card room, a kitchen/bedroom, a sculptor’s workshop and a dojo Discovery of the life of a citizen of NINJAGO city including a tea room and an arcade room with interchangeable billboards, arcades to build, a functional distributor and a “balloon” in pig shape attached to the roof. This set also includes 13 LEGO NINJAGO figures. “

JK Rowling Teases Another LEGO Wizarding World Fantastic Beast Set

Last month, fans of the Harry Potter-verse – now officially known as the “Wizarding World” – were in a flurry of excitement following the release of the first trailer for Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald. Their LEGO community subset was also piqued with news of tie-in sets like Grindelwald’s Escape (75951).

There was one other set number given in this first reveal, 75952, which was tentatively named “Newt’s Suitcase”. Beyond that, we got no description or image, though those who watched the first movie might have ideas. Anyway, there might be an advance spoiler for this set courtesy of JK Rowling herself.

The celebrated author of the Harry Potter book series that make up the core of the Wizarding World, as well as the screenwriter for the Fantastic Beasts films, posted a telling photo on her Twitter page Monday, April 23. It showed her hand, with a curious plastic magical animal figure.

Fantastic Beasts audiences might recognize that as the Niffler in Newt Scamander’s suitcase from his first film. Rowling noted that she took the photo in the middle of a meeting with Warner Bros., but whether WB had it for her consideration, or LEGO sent it earlier, nobody is quite sure.

If Warner Bros. and LEGO are waiting for another major geek event to finally blow open the Crimes of Grindelwald film and its other LEGO tie-ins, then it’d have to be the San Diego Comic-Con a few months from now. But for now, we have Rowling’s tease to mull over.

Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald sees the return of Eddie Redmayne, Katherine Waterston, Dan Fogler, Alison Sudol, Ezra Miller, and Johnny Depp from And Where to Find Them. They are joined by Jude Law, Zoe Kravitz and Callum Turner. The film premieres November 16 in both UK and US.

The LEGO Ninjago Movie Ninjago City Docks (70657) Spotted at LEGOLAND Billund

It seems that it’s not just third-party retailers like Radio Kontrol have listed the Ninjago City Docks (70657), but also LEGOLAND Billund have also put them on display in their store shelves ahead of the set’s worldwide release. This is a good indication, suggesting that we might have an official press release and clear, crisp images anytime soon. The set was first announced at the Nuremberg Toy Fair last January, with a tag price of 299.99 Euros. It comes as a sort of an expansion set for the LEGO Ninjago City (70620), though it may well pass for a standalone set.

Italian retailer site Radio Kontrol managed to list a box art image of the Ninjago City Docks (70657) giving us our very first clear image of the sizeable set.  But this time, thanks to Zusammengebaut, we now have a closer look at the set’s box art which gives us a better view of its modular functions plus the minifigures included with it. The following images were captured at LEGOLAND Billund, and were shared by one of the site’s followers.

front 70657 1

As we can see from the back of the set’s box, the LEGO Ninjago City Docks (70657) comes with six interchangeable modules which you can mix and match in many ways. What I find particularly interesting is the way the base of the set is made, which seems to rest on a sort of translucent blue baseplate which is very, very cool. It’s kind of difficult to tell at this point, which makes me even more excited to see the set’s official images. The level of detail on this set is at par with the LEGO Ninjago City (70620), with the dockyards consisting of a harbor equipped with a working crane, 3 floors that represents both the old and the new in the world of LEGO Ninjago. I can just imagine how humungous these combined sets will be if they are joined together as the box art suggests.

combine 70657 4

70657 3

The Ninjago City Docks comes with a huge amount of minifigs – 13 to be exact: Lloyd in his green ninja suit, Cole in his casual wear, Garmadon, Private Puffer, Runje, Chan Kong-Sang, Runme, Runde, Dareth, Lil’ Nelson, Mystake, Chad and Betsy with a baby figure. The minifigs themselves does not disappoint, particularly the way that fish rack was made and ingeniously hitched on Runje’s shoulders. Each minifigure comes with its own set of accessories, even Lil’ Nelson’s rare arm cast piece.

70657 2

I’m really all hyped to see the official images and see the many ways in which you can build the Ninjago City Docks together with its larger counterpart. So what do you think brick fans? Drop a comment below if you’re also looking forward to having this set. Thanks once again to Zusammengebaut for sharing these images.

LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775) Revealed!

Boy, oh boy! This weekend is jam-packed with a ton of reveals from LEGO that it’s kind of hard to focus where to begin. Better start the ball rolling, and let’s begin with the multifaceted (read: bipolar?), brick-built kitty sensation from the highly successful LEGO Movie.

Now that she has her own TV show, LEGO opted to push through a dedicated theme for her and the rest of her gang.  We already reported back in January during the Nuremberg Toy Fair that the sensational Unikitty will be having her own line of collectible figures, or more specifically LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figure series (41775). For one, this is definitely not your typical CMF series due to the very feature of Unikitty herself being made roughly of 14, mostly printed, standard LEGO pieces set on a cloud shape baseplate.

Now thanks to Italian toy and hobby store, Radio Kontrol, we no longer need to guess how this Unikitty collectible figure series will turn out. Now if you’re looking forward to this one, then a word of caution: it is virtually impossible for you to feel your way through most of the characters in this series because as you can see, each blind bag basically has the same kind of pieces save for their own unique printings. Here’s a rough Google translate from the Italian website, which interestingly states that this is the first among upcoming series.  Read on and check the images below.

The LEGO Unikitty Collectible Figures Series 1 (41775) is expected to be available sometime in June. Will keep you posted as more info comes out so be sure to stick around with us here in the Brick Show.

Check Out These Latest LEGO Training Manuals From Scholastic

It seems that there are still plenty of LEGO themed books to watch out for this second half of the year. Other than the impressive collection offered by DK that comes with exclusive, free LEGO sets and minifigures, children’s book publisher,  Scholastic, also has something to offer worth looking into.

It may not really fall under that ‘exclusive’ category such as those offered by DK, but still, any free LEGO is something worth catching. In this case, for those who are still missing the DC Comics version of Aquaman as found in Arctic Batman vs Mr. Freeze: Aquaman on Ice (76000), Black Manta Deep Sea Strike (76027), and LEGO Dimensions Aquaman Fun Pack (71237), then this is your chance to add him to your collection without breaking the bank. LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 to Get Avengers: Infinity War DLC

It’s that feeling again: the sensation of anticipation that comes before the impending premiere of a Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. MCU fans felt it last before Black Panther opened in cinemas last February; now it’s happening all over again for Avengers: Infinity War, set to come out on the 27th.

Leave it to LEGO and its gaming collaborators from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales to add to the hype. Yes, they’ve just announced the latest batch of DLC for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2. You only get three guesses as to what the theme is; the first two don’t count.

The Avengers: Infinity War DLC has got to impress players of LMSH2, and what better way to do it than by giving playable control over the mad titan of the hour, Thanos himself? He even brought his Black Order crew along: Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, and Ebony Maw.

27691977228 25b9349e94

Why make Thanos and his lackeys playable? That’s because the added game level for the Infinity War DLC is a villain stage, involving Thanos and the Black Order attacking Attilan. From their viewpoint, they must power through the defenses of the Inhuman homeland until they reach King Black Bolt.

But it’s not just the baddies getting new additions; other new playable characters included moody Teen Groot and the Hulk-buster 2.0 from the movie itself, pushing the total character count for LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2 far beyond 200 at this point. That’s even more gameplay fun to be had.

Aside from the announcement that it’s coming, no date has been given as to when the Avengers: Infinity War DLC will actually arrive on all of LMSH2’s platforms (PC, Xbox One, PS4, Switch), but it’s bound to be soon. Hopefully it’ll be close to the film premiere on April 27.

Here’s the press release from Warner Bros. Gaming.

Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment today revealed the content for the Marvel’s Avengers: Infinity War Character and Level Pack, the new DLC for LEGO® Marvel Super Heroes 2. The upcoming pack, available at £2.49 on PlayStation® 4 and Steam and at £2.39 on Xbox One, adds a level and characters straight from the comics in celebration of the upcoming film, Marvel Studios’ Avengers: Infinity War, in theatres nationwide on 27th April.

This action-packed level offers players the chance to control Thanos, one of the most dangerous Super Villains in the Marvel Universe, and his ruthless army. The Mad Titan and the Children of Thanos have invaded Attilan to take on Black Bolt and the Inhumans in an all-new original game level. Working as a team, the menacing crew must work their way through the various levels of Attilan before they are given the opportunity to break through to Black Bolt’s throne. New unlockable characters Thanos, Corvus Glaive, Cull Obsidian, Proxima Midnight, Ebony Maw, Hulkbuster 2.0, and Groot (Avengers: Infinity War) add to the main game’s roster of over 200 Super Heroes and Super Villains.

LEGO Makes Funny Awesome Crossover Video of Disney-Pixar’s “Cars” and BBC’s “Top Gear” in LEGO Junior Form

In 2002, BBC Two premiered a motoring magazine TV series that would grow to eventually take the automobile and driving worlds by storm: Top Gear. Four years later in 2006, Disney and Pixar released an animated feature film that would become the first chapter of a new recognizable franchise: Cars.

Now, BCC and Disney-Pixar have decided to do some epic cross-promotion for their respective franchises with the help of a surprise collaborator: LEGO. The result is a zany 3D short film that crosses Cars and Top Gear in one epic race around the familiar UK racetrack, with a familiar white-suited-racer-turned-car.

The short, lengthily titled “Mater, Cruz Ramirez, Lightning McQueen and The Stig Race Europe in New LEGO Juniors Top Gear video!” has LEGO Junior-version Lightning, his trainer Cruz Ramirez and mechanic buddy Mater visiting the Top Gear track. McQueen has personal reasons to drop in: wanting to race The Stig.

Rendered as a white car with dark windshield and spoilers, nobody knows what model the mysterious Top Gear presenter has been rendered in the Cars world. All we know is he’s still called The Stig. And from what we see him do, LEGO Stig must be a Master Builder too.

After an initial rebuff, the Stig is convinced to race Lightning and Cruz on the track, after he uses his Master Building skills to turn some nearby LEGO bricks into scale models of famous European landmarks to make a real European race. All goes well until Mater decides to fix the LEGO Leaning Tower for being “structurally unsound”. Hilarity ensues.

It’s certainly quite the adventure, and makes for great promotion of the Top Gear and Cars franchises, and the LEGO Junior line. You can see other short videos, of Disney-Pixar’s Cars and the other LEGO product lines, at their official YouTube Channel.
