LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi Sets Officially Revealed

It’s a long time coming. And after the official teaser trailer of Marvel’s Phase Four movie has debuted a few days ago, we now have our official images of its LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi tie-in sets.

If you recall earlier in February, we first caught a glimpse of the box art of the LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi Battle at the Ancient Village (76177) which suggested that the set is probably in circulation among third-party retailers. And this time, thanks to Walmart. com and other news outlets, we can now have a better look at what to expect from these sets. Aside from the Battle at the Ancient Village (76177), we also have the LEGO Marvel Shang-Chi Escape from the Ten Rings (76176) set to watch out for.

LEGO Launches 2021 May the 4th Promotions

Just in time with the announcement of the new LEGO Star Wars UCS R2-D2 (75308) set, LEGO has also unveiled its 2021 May the 4th promotions and other pretty cool freebies. And similar to previous years’ promo, LEGO is now giving another iconic Star Wars scene a microscaled, diorama rendition. Aside from its cool selection of LEGO Star Wars sets up for grabs, LEGO Shop@Home has now been updated to include several of its May the 4th promotions which will be made available starting May 1st.

Free LEGO Star Wars Tatooine Homestead (40451)

May the 4th

Similar to its diorama predecessors such as 2020’s Death Star II Battle (40407) and 2019’s Battle of Hoth – 20th Anniversary Edition (40333), the Tatooine Homestead (40451) features a microscaled version of Luke Skywalker’s beginnings in his home planet of Tatooine. This miniature vignette depicts the Lars family home, a Landspeeder, a Sandcrawler with the desert dunes of Tatooine on its background, and the year 2021 featured on the center. This May the 4th promotional will be added to your cart for free for every single receipt LEGO Star Wars purchases made between May 1 to 5 worth $85 and above.

Free LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle (30388) Polybag

May the 4th 0018 1130

As an in-store freebie, LEGO is throwing in this LEGO Star Wars Imperial Shuttle (30388) polybag for fans who will opt to visit and purchase at their nearest LEGO Store from May 1 to 5. This polybag will be added to your cart for free for every single-receipt LEGO Star Wars purchase worth $40 or more.

LEGO Star Wars Dutch Vander Minifigure VIP Sweepstakes

May the 4th

LEGO is also throwing in another minifigure as part of its LEGO VIP sweepstakes promo running from May 1 to 21, 2021. For a certain number of LEGO VIP points, you can have a chance of winning a LEGO Star Wars Dutch Vander minifigure. This comes encased in a collectible acrylic case together with a signed photo of Canadian actor Angus MacInnes who played the iconic role of Rebel Squadron Gold Leader Jon “Dutch” Vander. With regards to the minifigure, I really can’t say if it’s an entirely new minifig version of the Gold Leader since its looks very much the same as that of the exclusive minifigure that came with the LEGO Star Wars UCS Y-wing Starfighter (75181) from 2018.

Aside from these c0llectible freebies, we can also expect the usual LEGO Double VIP points for LEGO Star Wars purchases made from May 1 to 5. And if you want to maximize those valuable points, then you may want to consider adding to your must-have list these upcoming sets such as the LEGO Star Wars R2-D2 (75308), Imperial Probe Droid (75306), and Darth Vader (75304), and Scout Trooper (75305) Helmets.

Be sure to stay tuned for more May the  4th updates and promos. So what are you most excited about the LEGO Star Wars May the 4th promotions? Let us know in the comments below.

LEGO Super Mario Adventures With Luigi (71387) Arriving This Summer

It looks like Luigi will now finally get the LEGO treatment that he deserves. Thanks to Amazon China, we can now confirm the arrival of a LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Luigi (71387) starter pack sometime this summer.

LEGO Super Mario Adventures With Luigi

The new LEGO Super Mario set places Luigi front and center, with his own brick-built obstacle course that rivals that of his older twin brother. Similar to its predecessor, the LEGO Super Mario Adventures with Mario (71360), this new set offering features an interactive version of Luigi complete with all the sensors, LCD screen, and Bluetooth connectivity similar to his LEGO sibling. Though this Luigi-inspired set offers similar functionality to that of Adventures with Mario, my initial impression is that the former is a bit larger and offers brick-built versions of a Bone Goomba, Pink Yoshi, and a Koopa.

As of this posting, LEGO has not yet listed this set over at LEGO Shop@Home. And since this new LEGO Super Mario set has now been revealed via a third-party retailer with a release date of July 2021, we can most likely expect an official LEGO.com listing soon. It is also worthwhile to note that this particular set is just one of the nine new LEGO Super Mario sets that are slated to debut in 2021, showing how intentional LEGO is in further developing this licensed theme.

LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe VIP Reward Now Sold Out

If you are following the saga of this latest LEGO VIP Rewards hype, then you’ve probably felt the frustration of many LEGO fans on this side of the planet earlier today. I understand LEGO’s intention of providing incentives to loyal LEGO fans through VIP rewards points, but this latest debacle of the LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe VIP Reward was met with a lot of site glitches and a good number of upset LEGO fans.

LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe 01

I have to admit that I was never really a fan of LEGO VIP rewards for the obvious reason that this customer rewards system is not available in my region. On top of that, I have a certain bias against the “exclusivity” of certain LEGO sets which should be otherwise be made available for all LEGO fans to enjoy. I would rather have the offer of GWPs or gift-with-purchase sets than having these exclusive VIP freebies.

If you recall, the intention was to release the LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe to attract and draw attention towards its latest LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283). Though the latter was smoothly released without any problems or shortage of sets since the start of this month, the launching of the LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe was met with plenty of site glitches and hair-pulling loading errors as shared by LEGO fans across the internet. And in a matter of 15-20 minutes, the entire thing is already sold out over at VIP Rewards Center.

sold out lego vip ulysses

The experience of getting this relatively unattractive LEGO freebie in my opinion truly frustrates and perplexes me. I would like to echo the frustration of most LEGO fans since as I’ve mentioned earlier, I’m not really a fan of these “VIP-only exclusives”. And second, having LEGO, a highly respected and established company with all the means and resources at its disposal to ensure a smooth digital transaction for LEGO fans, to fail big time in making this set accessible to LEGO VIP fans, truly leaves me scratching my head.

If LEGO opted for the GWP route on the LEGO NASA Ulysses Space Probe and has it as a tie-in specifically for the LEGO NASA Space Shuttle Discovery (10283), then this LEGO VIP Reward tragedy could have been averted. I know I might sound harsh about this, but the truth of the matter is, such marketing promo just left a lot of legitimate LEGO fans disappointed with only those uncaring scalpers having a field day over at eBay. Just look at these outrageous prices for such a tiny LEGO set.

ebay lego vip ulysses e1618439456824

As far as I can remember, this issue of scalping for such rare LEGO sets has always been decried by the LEGO fan community and I do hope that LEGO will somehow be proactive in addressing this issue. And in my opinion, it can start by having these kinds of sets available for all LEGO fans to enjoy and perhaps re-evaluating the value and necessity of the LEGO VIP Rewards system from the perspective of the LEGO fan community.

For now, I’ll just be looking forward to that next LEGO project that I am itching to build. After all, that’s what got me into LEGO in the first place – the freedom to creatively build and to freely select the sets that interest me.

LEGO Looney Tunes Collectible Minifigures (71030) Now Listed at LEGO Shop@Home

LEGO’s online shopping portal has now made it official, revealing its latest LEGO Looney Tunes Collectible Minifigures (71030) series including its retail price and release date of April 26, 2021.

First confirmed by a third-party retailer several days ago, LEGO has now unveiled it over at LEGO Shop@Home showcasing its twelve (12) classic Looney Tunes characters now given the LEGO CMF treatment. Each CMF blind bag is expected to retail for $4.99, with each boxed set consisting of 36 bags or 3 complete sets of all twelve characters. Personally, I’m glad that LEGO did not opt for the boxed packaging format as it did for the LEGO Vidiyo Bandmates Series 1 (43101). I still prefer the blind bag packaging for the LEGO CMF line for that matter.

LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures (71031) – Details From the Rumor Mill

As a huge fan of LEGO Collectible Minifigures, I really have to say that LEGO did a fine good job with this year’s upcoming offerings. After the unofficial reveal of the LEGO Looney Tunes CMF Series (71030), now comes another wave of licensed LEGO minifigs to watch out for. And if the rumors turn out to be true, then we have to prep our wallets once again for the arrival of the LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures (71031) series this August.

LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures: What We Know

According to reliable LEGO insider, lego_fulcrum over on Instagram, this year will see the release of a wave of LEGO Marvel CMF similar to what LEGO did with last year’s LEGO DC CMF (71026). Furthermore, if the rumors turn out to be true, we can probably expect the following:

    • According to sources, the LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures (71031) will be based primarily on MCU’s latest series over at Disney+. This means to say we will be getting characters from WandavisionFalcon & The Winter Soldier, the upcoming Loki series, and the animated series “What If…?”
    • From Wandavision, I’m crossing my fingers for a new Scarlet Witch minifigure, with the new costume and all as revealed from the series’ final episode. A White Vision will also be great, and of course a LEGO rendition of Agatha Harkness.
    • We are still halfway through the Falcon & The Winter Soldier series, but a new Falcon and Bucky minifigs are surely in order. And perhaps a new Baron Zemo and a yet-to-be-revealed Power Broker minifigures are well on their way as well.
    • The MCU multiverse version of Loki (the one that runs away with the Tesseract in Avengers Endgame) might also be receiving a new minifigure version. There’s a ton of possible Marvel characters that may also be revealed later on so I will hold my horses and wait for how things will pan out in June when the series premieres on Disney+
    • Then finally we have the Disney+ animated series “What If…?”. Needless to say, the minifigure possibilities for this one are virtually endless considering the nature of the show. However, if I were to base it on the initial trailer that we saw last December, then I wouldn’t mind seeing an Uatu The Watcher minifigure since he seems to be the narrator of the series (much like an Alfred Hitchcock BTS type of character), and a Captain Peggy Carter minifig with that new British Union Jack shield.

I want to emphasize though that these are just speculations at this point until we receive further confirmation from LEGO or other third-party retailers that are quite excited to put them on shelves. And with most likely 12 LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures characters to be included, the potential list of Marvel characters to be given the LEGO CMF treatment is as vast as the MCU multiverse itself. Here’s my own wishlist for this series:

            1. Scarlet Witch (Wandavision version)
            2. White Vision
            3. Agatha Harkness
            4. Falcon (Disney+ version)
            5. Bucky (Disney+ version) – if you look hard enough, you might probably see it’s supposed minifig torso making rounds over the internet.
            6. Baron Zemo
            7. Power Broker
            8. Loki (Disney+ version)
            9. Mobius
            10. Kang the Conqueror – the series might set him up as the main villain later on.
            11. Uatu the Watcher
            12. Captain Peggy Carter

I have to say that this speculative list is pretty insane to begin with. Also bear in mind that these are just my predictions based on existing information that we have right now, and we have to wait and see until July to probably have a full reveal of this latest LEGO Marvel Collectible Minifigures Series (71031).

So how about your predictions? What Disney+ MCU character do you think will make it to this upcoming LEGO CMF series? Drop-in your predictions in the comments below.

LOOK: First Images of a New LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Set Has Been Released

Following the rumor train regarding the upcoming LEGO Speed Champions 2021 sets scheduled to be released this summer, we now have our first look at one of these new brick-built speedsters in the form of the LEGO Speed Champions Mopar Dodge/SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger (76904) set.

LEGO Speed Champions 2021 Set

Shared by Reddit user Samurai_Happy, this first look at set 76904 confirms the rumored list of LEGO Speed Champions 2021 2H sets that went around a couple of months ago. According to the eagle-eyed LEGO fan, he spotted this set on display at a Target store in Washington but was eventually prohibited from purchasing it since it was marked for release in August. Personally, it is kind of absurd to have restrictions like this considering that this set was already placed on display. However, August could be a release date specifically for other retailers and we can still expect this new LEGO Speed Champions 2021 set to be released in June just in time for summer.

76904 back

The LEGO Speed Champions Mopar Dodge/SRT Top Fuel Dragster and 1970 Dodge Challenger (76904) set clocks in at 627 pieces and is expected to retail for $49.99. It’s basically a dual-pack that features a pair of Dodge’s iconic vehicles highlighting its past and present legacies on the race track. As a fan of classic muscle cars, I am personally looking forward to this brick version of the 1970 Dodge Challenger. And though the LEGO Speed Champions has produced a great line of brick speedsters throughout the years, there is only a handful of brick-built classic muscle cars that were added to its theme. We have 2017’s 1966 Ford GT40 from set 75881, the LEGO Speed Champions 1968 Ford Mustang Fastback (75884), and 2019’s 1970 Dodge Charger R/T from set 75893. I just hope that the LEGO Group will eventually develop a subtheme for the LEGO Speed Champions line that is dedicated to this beloved genre of classic cars.

For now, be sure to keep an eye at LEGO Shop@Home, and here at our blog site for the latest LEGO news updates. Special thanks to Promobricks for the heads up.
