Promo Details Out on How to Get LEGO Marvel Avengers Tower (40344)

Normally when we hear about LEGO “gift-with-purchase” promotions, we think of little polybags or small box sets. But once in a while they throw in something big too. Last month a LEGO Store flyer from Spain revealed a LEGO Marvel Avengers Tower set (40334). It too was labeled a gift-with-purchase.

It needs to be said that more recent LEGO promotions are more difficult to pin down due to LEGO Store Calendars no longer listing them. Weeks have passed since the flyer reveal without word on the promo that’ll give away the Avengers Tower (40334). Last weekend, we wondered no more.

For a brief time on the Offers and Promotions page over at Shop@Home, LEGO spilled the beans on the promo details for Avengers Tower (40334). It can be gotten at a minimum $75 total purchase in LEGO Marvel Super Heroes products. The promo period will run from April 19-May 2.

The Avengers Tower set (40334) is a nifty micro-scale built of the former New York Avengers HQ as seen in the MCU. It comes with a micro Quinjet model (suspended by clear parts on the tower launch-pad) as well as an Iron Man minifigure with removable helmet. Its approximate price value is at $19.99 stateside.

Getting the minimum $75 LEGO Marvel set purchase to avail this promo should be easy. There’s rumor that the official tie-ins for July’s “Spider-Man: Far from Home” might release April 22. That should provide enough new-set fodder to spend big.

Annual Passes Now Available for LEGO House in Billund

When a resort theme park has been well established and operating for as long as LEGOLAND, they’d have plenty of admission options for guests to select from. Aside from one-off tickets, they might have special packages and even the vaunted annual pass. With that, you’d be allowed repeatedly inside for a year barring off-limits days.

LEGO House in Billund, Denmark isn’t part of the LEGOLAND chain. It is after all an “experience house” that hosts LEGO exhibits, special events, and a LEGO Store. But since opening in 2017 it’s attracted lots of visitors arriving at LEGO’s hometown. Perhaps that’s why they’re confident in launching this.

The Home of the Brick is announcing that they are introducing annual passes as a new means of admission for the attraction. It will begin this April 13, and for a limited time until the 28th the LEGO House annual pass has a special rate.

During its introduction, guests to LEGO House can upgrade their 199 Danish krone ($29.92) single-entry day ticket into an annual pass by adding just another hundred kroner (for 299 DKK). With that, potentially the next 365 days from the date of issuance is now open to you at LEGO House.

If you can’t plan on visiting Billund and the Home of the Brick anytime soon, note that after Easter Sunday (April 28) an individual annual pass will jump to 399 DKK. LEGO House annual passes can only be obtained in person at their Information desk. Those wishing to convert their day tickets may do so within the ticket’s validity period.

Annual pass-holders for the Home of the Brick are reserved only a limited number of tickets for use. This means that when visiting LEGO House during peak tourist season, even pass-holders are not guaranteed access. Other than that, they’re free to enjoy at LEGO House.

Details Out on LEGO Promo for Easter Seasonal Chicken Skater Pod (853958)

While the LEGO “Avengers: Endgame” tie-in polybag we just discussed looks to be available conventionally in Wal-Mart, another recently-introduced poly will actually be a promotional item as they’re wont to be. It’ll probably be the catch too, as a seasonal minifigure in a different package than the usual “hut” box.

By that we mean the LEGO Seasonal Chicken Skater Pod (853958). If you will recall, it’s a chicken-suit guy with roller-skate elements, and a pod with a garden and a skating rabbit. It’s easily one of the quirkiest seasonal products yet announced. LEGO might even be testing to see if they’ll make seasonal pods permanent.

That said, LEGO’s finally announced the promo details for this special poly. Starting Friday, April 5 to the 22nd, LEGO Seasonal Chicken Skater Pod (853958) is available free for any minimum LEGO purchase of $35. This applies to LEGO Store purchases and online on Shop@Home.

Having that last bit of information is quite helpful as there have been Shop@Home-only and store-only promos in the past. Now we can get this singular seasonal polybag from the best of both worlds. Maybe it’ll be a nice one-off thing or the first of something new that collectors can feel proud having one of.

LEGO Shop@Home Doubles VIP Points Until March 31

Even when there’s a new LEGO set you really like releasing soon, and you’ve got the money for it, sometimes it can pay to wait beyond the set’s release date especially if you’re a VIP. You never can tell when LEGO, particularly its online Shop@Home, will suddenly announce Double-Points time.

Sometimes the 2x VIP points apply only to specific sets. The best moments are when it’s a blanket double-pointing on all available products. It never lasts long enough so LEGO VIP members need to “pick their battles” as it were. Like right now, Shop@Home has Double-Points going until March’s end.

Considering a lot of cool new released happened at the start of the month and even last February, there will be plenty of choices. Many of them are “pricey” enough to really rack up the VIP point multiplier upon purchase.

Whether LEGO VIP members fancy a March 1 release like LEGO Ideas Flintstones (21316 as stated in the preceding article), or go for a 3-digit set like the LEGO Creator Ford Mustang (10265) and LEGO Movie 2 tie-in Welcome to Apocalypseburg (70840), they’ll be maximizing the Double-Points gained for sure.

Five major LEGO Shop@Home markets have twice the VIP points to offer until March 31. May you make them count; for who knows when another opportunity might be announced again?

Target-Exclusive LEGO Movie 2 Blu-ray Combo Comes with Free Tie-In Polybag (30460)

Just this week we got LEGO and Warner Bros. announcing the home media release dates for The LEGO Movie 2. It didn’t quite catch on in the cinema, but maybe more people will purchase it for home viewing. Digital format arrives next month while the disc versions won’t be until May. Regarding the physical-copy release, while there’re the expected 4K UHD, Blu-ray and DVD versions, some retailers like Target seems to offer more. They have their own LEGO Movie 2 Blu-ray Combo Pack which packs a Blu-ray, DVD, and digital versions of the animated sequel all rolled into one. As expected, it also has a LEGO freebie to hopefully sweeten the deal.

But if you’re anticipating something not so regularly seen from LEGO, like a new minifigure, then better lower your expectations. That is, unless you haven’t gotten the LEGO Movie 2 – Rex’s Plantimal Ambush (30460) polybag yet. But that’s only if you haven’t bought at least $40 worth of LEGO products online from shop.LEGO.com last month.

Still, if you haven’t gotten anything off LEGO Shop@Home in February and are willing to wait, pre-ordering this Combo Pack at Target is a good idea. This Target offering for The LEGO Movie 2 Blu-ray Combo is worth $27.99 (Blu-ray, DVD, & digital), including the Plantimal Ambush (30460) polybag, and will be available starting May 7.

The LEGO movie 2: The Second Part premiered February 8 and has since earned $173.5 million combined on both North American and international box offices. While still positively reviewed, the film failed to replicate the success of its 2014 predecessor, a phenomenon attributed by Warner Animation Group to franchise fatigue.

Rare Unnumbered LEGO Exclusive Set Found at Singapore Changi Airport T3 LEGO Store

The thing about exclusive LEGO products is that you might need to be an international traveller to collect them all. That perhaps, or have online friends living where the exclusives are found. Among these uncommon LEGO products are the Architecture set (40199) of Billund Airport in Denmark, available only in their departure lounge LEGO Store.

Speaking of airports, there’s an unnumbered exclusive LEGO mini set that’s available for purchase only at the Terminal 3 LEGO Store of Changi Airport in Singapore. The packaging is pretty barebones: transparent sealable bag with instruction sheet and hand-packed LEGO pieces to build a scale model of Changi’s Airport Tower.

Information on this unnumbered LEGO bag set was provided to German LEGO news source Zusammengebaut, such as that the model was developed by LEGO Certified Builder Nicholas Foo. It has just enough bricks and pieces to form three main components – square base, tower shaft and control deck – that assemble to form the Changi Airport Tower.

The item was promoted on a Changi T3 LEGO Store flyer, which states that it’s free with any minimum LEGO purchase of 80 Singaporean Dollars. Each customer is also limited to 2 redemptions per day. Minimalist packaging hints that quantities are extremely limited.

The chances of this LEGO exclusive becoming available anywhere else is pretty slim. Thankfully the instruction sheet has been shared by Zusammengebaut, including a piece and element list that can be ordered from LEGO if so desired.

Two LEGO Polybags Free Gift with Minimum Purchase, One in LEGO US and the Other in LEGO UK

With LEGO, both in stores and on Shop@Home, it’s never very long before a new promotion is announced. One can never receive too many gifts with your total LEGO purchases. Official word has recently come out on two such freebies for two major regions on both sides of the Atlantic.

For LEGO US, they’re bringing back cute polybag released last 2018 back to the limelight. This is the appropriately named Cute Pug (30542), which we also covered in the previous year. A 3-in-1 construct, this 68-piece poly can be either a turkey or koala, or an adorable bulldog with hydrant.

This LEGO Creator Cute Pug (30542) can be had once again with a minimum LEGO purchase of $35. This is the best chance to get this 2018 Creator 3-in-1 polybag if you can’t be bother to look for it at Target stores, which had been its original stomping grounds.

Over in LEGO UK, the gift-with-purchase of the moment is a new one for this year, none other than the LEGO Friends Tulips (30408) polybag. It’s easily one of the best basic flower builds released by LEGO yet, with two tulip blossoms in a pot and a helpful pollinating bee.

Shop@Home UK will see the LEGO Friends Tulips (30408) being free with every minimum total LEGO purchase of £35. This promo runs until March 31, Mother’s Day 2019. It’s practically the theme for this gift with purchase according to the UK Shop@Home page. Interested collectors better hope supplies will last.

March 2019 LEGO VIP Double Points on Technic Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (42093) and Speed Champions Dodge (75893)

When you’re a member of LEGO’s VIP program, you’re definitely encouraged to buy a little more. After all, that’s how you accumulate points for making later purchases. And every now and then, LEGO motivates you further by doubling acquired VIP points, whether in general or when buying some specific sets.

This month, the double VIP points can be gotten by members on two LEGO sets of a particular theme. That theme is cars. So for LEGO fans who also love cool automobiles then it’s time to break out the savings because these sets will only have double points for March.

For those who like small but many, they might consider getting their double VIP points from the Speed Champions 2-pack of the “Dodge Challenger SRT Demon and 1970 Dodge Charger R/T” (75893). You get double the Dodge and double the points; what’s not to love?

If on the other hand you prefer one big set but with two possible configurations, then the other March VIP double-point set announced is the LEGO Technic Chevrolet Corvette ZR1 (42093). Being able to change between the sleek modern ZR1 and the retro-styled “Hot Rod” was its major selling point.

Of course, you can always buy both. At $29.99 (75893) and $49.99 (42093) they’re not exactly pricey compared to bigger sets. And of course the LEGO VIP program goes for both Shop@Home and in stores. Remember, it only lasts until the end of the month.

Select LEGO VIP Members Get Offer to Test Upcoming Digital LEGO VIP Card App

For a long time now, part of the LEGO purchasing experience in stores and online is their special VIP program. Who would say no to early availability of the most in-demand upcoming sets? The membership cards are pretty cool too, especially the “Star Wars” variant, and there’s lots of extras that get added on top.

But LEGO has decided that the VIP card was due for an update, to match this tech-heavy age. After considering how many people already use mobile devices to rack up purchase points via online-connected apps, the toy global giant has decided to do the same.

As of this writing, a number of active LEGO VIP members would have received emails from the company. This is an invitation to help test the new Digital VIP card system. These digital cards would most likely be electronically-generated bar codes and serial numbers displayed on a smartphone app.

A VIP member could download the LEGO VIP app and register to get their digital card, which when displayed on a phone can be scanned during purchase to top up points. This option is apparently immediately available already to Black VIP cardholders. When they use the digital VIP card app for the first time they’ll get asked to transition their physical card to a digital alternate.

LEGO’s Digital VIP Card app will be made available on both primary mobile OS platforms: Apple’s iOS and Android. With this, LEGO can also directly send updates about product info and launch dates on user’s phones and tablets. The app of course can show accumulated points for their users’ accounts.

It hasn’t been stated yet when the Digital VIP card app will be made available for general use, but it’ll be a big step up for the LEGO VIP program when the time comes. Above image is courtesy of Brickfanz.com.

Designer Video for LEGO Creator Ford Mustang (10265) and Other Extras to be had with Purchase

It was a time for LEGO and retro automobile fans to rejoice last Friday as the LEGO Creator Ford Mustang (10265) was finally released. Not only was the set itself made available, it also came with the sweet collectible keychain (5005822) that works great to show off their owners’ “new” LEGO car.

Hopefully there’s enough stock for that extra goody in stores and on Shop@Home to last until March 10. Apparently over the weekend the keychain (5005822) failed to show up on customers’ purchase carts at Shop@Home despite picking up the Creator Mustang (10265). It has happened a few times with extras before, and should be back to normal now.

Moving on, there’s also another related event that always comes in the heels of major LEGO set releases. There’s no prize for guessing right; the designer video for the LEGO Creator Ford Mustang (10265) online. The video is hosted by the Creator Mustang’s chief designers, Carl Merriam & Mani Zamani.

But there’s more, essentially proving that Creator 10265 is easily one of the biggest products brought out by LEGO this year. If customers bought the set from a store, their purchase will come with yet another freebie: a bumper sticker.

This extra gift, like the keychain (5005822), is totally geared for AFOLs in general and car owners in particular. You’ve got to love the sassiness of a statement like “My other car is a Mustang,” as shared by fellow LEGO news source Avenue of Bricks.

33374305638_0735c88b69_b.jpg

LEGO has even launched an informal promo campaign to have Creator Mustang (10265) buyers that got the sticker to post a photo of it on their cars and share it on social media (LEGO’s pages on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter). Add the LEGO Ideas contest and it’s a promotional extravaganza.

So there you have it. Nothing more needs to be said about how the LEGO Creator Ford Mustang (10265) is one priority purchase for LEGO fans, car enthusiast or otherwise.
