LEGO City Space Satellite (30365) Polybag Spotted

Hot on the heels of LEGO’s latest tease about the next LEGO Creator Expert outer space set, it looks like the latest rehashed LEGO Space theme will be having a polybag to complement its NASA-inspired sets. Spotted by a LEGO fan in Austria, and shared over Reddit, we now have a look at the LEGO City Space Satellite (30365) polybag, as you can see below.

As shared by Reddit user generic9yo, this particular polybag takes its cue from the famous NASA space station spacewalkers. The obvious takeaway from this polybag is the astronaut minifigure donned with a golden helmet. It’s a great way to stack up on those astronaut minifigs for that latest space mission MOC that you are working on. As of the moment, this minifigure is only made available in three out of seven 2019 LEGO City Space sets, namely together with Satellite Service Mission (60224), Mars Research Shuttle (60226), and Lunar Space Station (60227). It was in 2015 when we last saw this astronaut minifigure, so its a great move from LEGO to re-introduce this little fella.

Similar to previous polybags, the LEGO City Space Satellite (30365) polybag will most likely be a LEGO promotional that goes with the release of the LEGO City Space sets once they’re made available this summer at LEGO stores and at shop.LEGO.com. Nevertheless, we’ll keep you posted once we hear some words about their availability which we expect to be sometime next month. LEGO Teases The New LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander Set

LEGO is definitely looking forward to revive the LEGO Space theme in one form or the other. After the successful launch of the new LEGO City Space sets, LEGO has now teased via social media another large set that caters to LEGO and NASA enthuasiasts. Now if you’re actively involved among LEGO fan forums and sites, chances are, you have an encountered already what this mystery set is. In fact, LEGO has given out some images of this set to several European retailers for marketing purposes. Though taken down already, eagle-eyed LEGO fans were quick to capture a snapshot of the new LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander in all its golden glory.

However, LEGO is still holding on to its horses pending a full reveal of this next Creator Expert set. Check out this 5-second video clip that highlights the first giant leap for LEGO minifigs in space.

I love how the small minifig print appears on the surface of the moon, imitating mankind’s first moon landing. The LEGO Creator Expert NASA Apollo 11 Lunar Lander is expected to be available sometime next month, with an official reveal to happen any time next week. As a Creator Expert set, this new real world set is expected to consist of more than a thousand pieces and will retail for almost a hundred US dollars. The fact that this new LEGO set is set to be released in June celebrating the 50th year anniversary of NASA’s moon landing, makes this set more appealling to fans.

It is also said that this set will be accompanied with a special promotional item in the form of a commemorative patch, similar to what LEGO did when when it released a limited edition promotional keychain that accompanied the LEGO Creator Expert Ford Mustang (10265).

LEGOLAND Windsor Depicts Royal Baby Presentation, with Free Admission to Guests Named “Archie”

LEGOLAND Windsor, the LEGOLAND resort for the UK, has been something of a brick-built crier for important Royalty-centered events. Its Miniland area contains brick-built scale replicas of the British Royal residences, including nearby Windsor Castle. Thus the displays get constantly updated for all important occasions.

We covered when the LEGOLAND Windsor building teams interpreted the 2018 birth of Prince Louis to Prince William and Kate. The same went for the Royal Wedding of Prince Harry to Meghan Markle that same year. Now, the builders have completed their latest Miniland Windsor Castle update for guest viewing.

Outside the brick castle are Prince Harry and Meghan, Duke and Duchess of Sussex. With them is the latest addition to the British Royal Family: Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor. It’s in his honor that the LEGOLAND Windsor Resort is throwing its most generous guest promotion yet.

Is your name “Archie” like Archie Harrison? Then LEGO Windsor will gladly allow you free admission to the resort. Guests named Archie need only present proof of their identity with the name. It also has to be “Archie” and not its variants like the full form “Archibald” for example. This magnanimous promo from LEGOLAND Windsor will last until July 12.

LEGOLAND Windsor lead model-maker Paula Laughton remarks that their constant special renovations to their Miniland build of Windsor Castle was simply their resort’s signature LEGO way of sharing celebrating news from their “Royal Neighbors.” “Our guests love to spot our new models in Miniland and we can’t wait to see what they think of our latest royal addition,” Laughton said.

LEGO Welcomes May the Fourth Early with “Star Wars” Sets and Promotions

This coming Saturday, the “Star Wars” fandom gets to go crazy in an awesome good way again. Rare $70 Commemorative LEGO Istana Set from 150th Anniversary Open-House, Reselling Online for Over $100

Just as April was ending, we reported on a most uncommon limited edition LEGO set in Singapore. A LEGO build of the Istana presidential palace was commissioned by the country’s president to celebrate the complex’s 150^th anniversary. The set was launched at Istana’s open-house this May 1, with its limited numbers snapped up by collectors.

Visitors to the Singapore Istana this Wednesday could avail of the LEGO-brick version by donating $70 to the President’s Challenge community outreach. But there were only 500 sets prepared, in small plastic bags with inserted building instructions. They were gone in two hours. That’s that.

Or at least, that’s how it should’ve been as a one-day special tie-in. But some of those who bought the LEGO Istana mini-set were simply interested in reselling them online. Several listings of the special-edition set on eBay and Carousell have mind-boggling prizes of $100-300.

There have been attempts by other LEGO fans to simply replicate the official Istana build on their own. Builders on Facebook such as Artisan Bricks and the SG AFOL Brick Marketplace have put forth their interpretations of Singapore’s presidential residence. In case of the latter, they’ve sold complete sets of their version for S$42, lesser than the official set price. Their sets used bricks sourced from Bricklink and Brickfinder; they sold out quite fast too.

As expected, the design for the limited-edition LEGO Istana commissioned by the Office of Singapore President Halimah Yacob was developed by a LEGO Certified Professional. In her speech during the set’s unveiling this May 1 she said, “The Istana is an iconic landmark in Singapore, having been an important part of our history and national identity. I hope Singaporeans will appreciate this special and unique keepsake, and through it, look back to our journey together as a nation with pride.”

Humble Bundle Packs Up to 8 LEGO Games on Steam for $12 Max Bundle Price

IGN’s Humble Bundle has been doing gamers a great favor by making available old game titles in very affordable bundles. The more you pay the more Steam games in a bundle you get, with proceeds going to different charities monthly. Last year they surprised players of obscure LEGO games by briefly making 2014’s “LEGO The Hobbit” a free Steam download.

Now they’re at it again for LEGO titles from WB Interactive and Traveller’s Tales. Humble Bundle’s latest LEGO bundle has eight games in it. Normally, altogether they’re priced at $169. But this bundle offers them all for just $12 total.

How low can they get? And that question’s asked in a positive context. Well, just paying $1 minimum for the bundle gets a Steam gamer “LEGO Harry Potter: Years 1-4” and “LEGO Batman: The Videogame.”

Pay more however, say, more than $8.43 average, and the bundle will include “LEGO Harry Potter: Years 5-7,” “LEGO Batman 2: DC Super Heroes” and “The LEGO Movie – Videogame.” Finally, the full $12 will unlock the last three: “LEGO City Undercover,” “LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham” and “LEGO Worlds,” though the last one may not be available in all territories.

This latest LEGO-themed Humble Bundle can be redeemed on Steam still for 12 more days as of this writing. Charitable proceeds from this transaction go this month to Entertainment Software Association Foundation. You can however, choose your own charity here.

LEGO Store US Promotions That You Can Expect During May the 4th

The months of April and May are said to be given over to large-scale Star Wars fan festivities. Earlier this month we had the Star Wars Celebration in Chicago. And next Sunday, the global fandom will be welcomed again by a barrage of enticing Star Wars tie-in merchandise come May the 4th.

As one of the major brands making Star Wars merchandise, LEGO has always taken advantage of its celebratory fandom events. Whether it’s an exclusive set or a gift with purchase, leave it to LEGO to have something for the occasion. In fact, LEGO’s online shopping portal just put up their May the 4th specials for customers’ easy reference.

For a minimum $35 total purchase of LEGO Star Wars stuff, customers will get a special Art Print for the line’s anniversary. And for at least $75, LEGO will throw in a free Battle of Hoth – 20th Anniversary Edition (40333) microscaled set in your shopping cart both online and in-store.

And of course, we can’t forget the LEGO Star Wars 20^th Anniversary sets – that are available now at LEGO Shop@Home, along with other LEGO-themed Star Wars merchandise from alarm clocks to minifigure key-chains. These at least you can start with right now, before May the 4^th arrives.

May Promotional LEGO Star Wars Set Seen in Hungarian LEGO Store Calendar

You may have noticed that it’s been a while since we’ve featured a LEGO Store Calendar here on The Brick Show. Part of the reason would be that they’ve stopped featuring promotional items of the month there. That’s usually the main draw for the store calendars. Without them, promos tend to catch buyers by surprise.

But that seems to apply only to LEGO Store Calendars for the US. In other countries the promotional items are still included along with their promo periods. Our fellow LEGO news sources (and online set guide) Brick Set discovered the May 2019 promo items from a Hungarian LEGO Store Calendar.

We’re not certain if this will also apply to stateside LEGO Stores next month but here goes. For all days of May any minimum LEGO purchase of 15,000 Hungarian forints will add a LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth – 20^th Anniversary Edition (40333) set free.

Now we go to the caveats. In US dollars 15,000 Hungarian forints will amount to $52.67 rounded to the nearest $9.99; but that’s not set in stone. Furthermore, we’re not certain if this Hungarian promo will also be replicated elsewhere. Still, we have something new to keep an eye out for when May comes around.

The LEGO Star Wars Battle of Hoth – 20^th Anniversary Edition (40333) isn’t like the other big anniversary sets (that have numbers starting with 7). Rather, this is a micro-build of the famous Hoth battleground with a deflector shield generator, an attacking AT-AT and defending Snowspeeders.

Just over the past weekend, we were treated to some great LEGO Star Wars-related news with the announcement of the rehashed LEGO Star Wars Tantive IV (75244). This New Hope inspired set is slated to land in LEGO Stores and online in time for May the 4th promotions – the unofficial but popular Star Wars Day fan commemorative celebration. And to make this day even more festive for fans, LEGO has announced that it will be giving away a free Mini Tantive IV set for the LEGO Star Wars faithful.

May 3-6: Come in to your local LEGO Store to build your very own Tantive model then take it home, for free! Registration is on a first come, first served basis and quantities are limited. Registration begins April 15 in stores only. The building event is intended for ages 6+ at store discretion.

LEGO Stores in the US will soon be joining in the May the 4^th festivities by hosting its popular Make & Take Event. Beginning this Monday, April 15, registration has begun for builders aged 6 and up at all participating LEGO Stores. The registrants will then come back on their scheduled dates from May 3 to 6 to try their hands on this build. Similar to other LEGO Make and Take in-store promotional, participation in this event does not require any purchases.

Registered participating builders will be given the LEGO pieces needed to assemble the Mini Tantive IV set. And though it may be a far cry from the new, 2-feet long LEGO Star Wars Tantive IV (75244) set, this mini model is definitely cool to have around on your desk or just a testament to our all out, galactic geekiness. Like other Make and Take sets, expect that the building instructions for this mini model might be out soon, so thanks in advance to those who will be kind enough to share them online for all of to build.

The larger and grander LEGO Star Wars Tantive IV (75244) set is scheduled to be released on May 4 just in time for the global celebration of everything Star Wars. This set comes in 1,768 pieces, and will retail for $199.99 USD.

LEGO Star Wars Surprise Box (5005704) Now Available with Minimum Purchase at European Shop@Home Sites

These past few days LEGO has been teasing fans with a Star Wars Surprise Box. As with previous packages like these the contents are ostensibly a mystery. For the box size they’re sure to contain mini-builds in polybags and minifigures too. But when’s it coming out? How do we even get it? We finally know.

For five days starting April 11, the LEGO Star Wars Surprise Box (5005704) is available in several European Shop@Home markets. As if trying to compete with LEGO Marvel’s line and its promotional Avengers Tower (40334), there’s quite the minimum purchase to get this Surprise Box.

Be they from the UK, Denmark, France, Belgium, Germany, Austria or Sweden, mainland European shoppers need €85 or £85 minimum worth of LEGO Star Wars purchases to get the box before April 15. This can tie into the ongoing Seasonal Easter Chicken Skater Pod (853958) promo, which requires a minimum €/£35 of any LEGO purchase.

Contents of the LEGO Star Wars Surprise Box (5005704) this year will be a variety of collectible minifigure polybags or keychains, five in every box. Lucky buyers could chance to acquire any of these rare finds: platinum R2-D2, sterling silver R2-D2 or graded TC-14 minifigure.

There’s no word yet on when the Surprise Box (5005704) finds its way to Shop@Home US, or if it will.
