LEGO Minecraft and Back to the Future BrickHeadz Sets Rumored to be Released This Year.

We’ve pretty much covered every important announcement of note by LEGO regarding their upcoming sets across their multiple product lines from the New York Toy Fair this month. One of them is the new LEGO BrickHeadz Go Brick Me (41597), promoted as the most customizable BrickHeadz set ever conceptualized.

But apparently LEGO has only shown the tip of the iceberg regarding the newest additions to the BrickHeadz line. One Falcon1414, a member of the discussion forums at Eurobricks, got wind of a rumor that there may be more BrickHeadz coming this year, from licensed franchises both old and new.

First from Falcon1414’s rumors, there would be a two-pack LEGO BrickHeadz set this May, tying in to 2017’s DCEU film Justice League, of Superman and Batman in his armored Tactical suit. For reference’s sake, they would look like the minifigures included in the Flying Fox: Batmobile Airlift Attack (76087).

Also coming out May is another LEGO BrickHeadz pack, this time for a franchise that last got the LEGO treatment in LEGO Ideas (back when it was LEGO CUUSOO) and the now terminated LEGO Dimensions. Back to the Future is returning to LEGO with paired BrickHeadz of Marty and Doc Brown.

Last, but not least of these swarming BrickHeadz rumors is a third double set for August. It’s said to feature Steve and The Creeper, both from the pixel world of Minecraft. The latter’s going to be interesting as it’s not a humanoid figure, so its BrickHead adaptation would be quite the sight if true.

Yes, lest we forget, all this information right now is as yet unsubstantiated beyond discussion at the Eurobricks forum. Until LEGO itself says something before the New York Toy Fair ends on Tuesday, February 20, it’d be best to take the above with a grain of salt. Hopefully they’re true.

The Rumor Mill: A LEGO Tie-In Set About the Original 1993 “Jurassic Park” Film Is Said To Be In The Works.

Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom, sequel to the same-named 2015 movie and the fifth cinematic installment of Universal’s Jurassic Park franchise, is due to premiere on June. And of course, with their longtime licensing partnership with LEGO you can expect the tie-in LEGO sets to come out before the big day.

Now, barring the darker plot turn of its upcoming sequel, the first Jurassic World film was, for a brief while, a magnificent visual experience as it showed off how a fully functional and constantly-packed dinosaur park would feel like. It’s definitely lighter than the disaster chronicled in 1993’s Jurassic Park.

By the way, reckoning from that date, the Jurassic franchise is close to being 25 years old. Apparently this milestone is also in LEGO’s mind, as there are now rumors that there will be a new and original play set based on Jurassic Park, not Jurassic World or its sequel.

Surely generations alive can still remember the first film, based on Michael Crichton’s novel and directed by Steven Spielberg. It was the first attempt at a park with cloned dinosaurs, and unexpected circumstances led to its catastrophic failure. LEGO fans will get to relive the adventure in the new set.

According to unconfirmed information, the set depicts the scene where the surviving tour group led by Dr. Grant tries to crack the park’s computer system while the vicious raptors try to enter the nearby kitchen by opening the doors manually. The set will include four minifigures and two raptor figures.

Granted, at the moment the above should be considered hearsay until The LEGO Group itself makes the announcement. The soonest that might happen is during the New York Toy Fair later this month, as the company fires another salvo of its Jurassic World lineup. Perhaps the Park set is included.

More 2018 Nuremberg Toy Fair News: New LEGO Architecture Sets Announced.

As you already know, the 2018 Toy Fair in Nuremberg, Germany goes on from the end of January to the first week of February. Already some major reveals have gone out from there, including the first three tie-in LEGO and Duplo sets for Universal Pictures’ Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom.

And then, there are some bits of news that have been so restricted by LEGO’s efforts at photography restriction, that info on them has to be literally jotted down. German LEGO news source Zusammengebaut cleverly did that to tell the world of some of the new upcoming LEGO Architecture sets for this year.

DUyzdyyXUAIh0Zr

According to his hastily handwritten note (apparently LEGO overlooked this prohibition for the Toy Fair), two LEGO Architecture sets are going to be released later on in 2018, at the heels of the already-announced Las Vegas Skyline (21038). Included are the official set numbers and pricing in Euro.

First is the LEGO Architecture Great Wall of China (21041), a potentially long-winding structural set that’s priced at 49.99 Euros. But even that pales in comparison to the LEGO Architecture Statue of Liberty (21042), which, judging by its 99.99 Euro price, must be humongous indeed. 21042’s price point also suggests that it might be on the same scale as that of 2016’s United States Capitol Building (21030) which also has the same price range, coming in at 1,032 pieces.

Time will tell if later on during the Nuremberg Toy Fair, LEGO will opt to show the public what those Architecture sets must look like. They did the same for the Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom sets after all, so we’ll see.

The LEGO Ideas Second 2017 Review Results Is Disappointing, But It Also Hints on an Exciting Future Set.

LEGO Ideas can be perceived as a godsend to the really skilled near-Master level builders with custom set ideas in their mind. If their set passes the approval of 10,000 like-minded fans, then the LEGO Ideas Review Team could be convinced to make it official. However, there’s never an absolute guarantee of success.

This was hammered home back in 2015 when the LEGO Ideas panel selected none of several set proposals that were sufficiently supported for review. It has happened several times since, most recently this January 22 when six set pitches in the Second 2017 LEGO Ideas Review all came up short with panelists.

One possible reason the Ideas panel gave for turning down a submission project would be that the set in question shares similarities to an either already existing LEGO, or something that’s being developed in the pipelines by LEGO designers. Of course, if such a thing happens, the reviewers can’t say it out loud to protect secrecy.

That seems to be the case as Hasan explains it in the Second 2017 Review Results video. Parts of his speech were bleeped out, but it implies that “set X” shared some similarities to a “giant [bleep]” that LEGO will introduce soon.

Speculation abounds on which of the six “Second 2017 Review” sets has a coincidental in-house developed counterpart that led to its rejection. The Brick Fan has an interesting theory that maybe “set X” is the “Luke, I am your Father” set design by szabomate90. Why? Hasan’s censored words seem familiar.

A lip reading by the Brick Fan might have it that Hasan was saying “Bespin”. Star Wars fans know that Bespin/Cloud City was the place in Empire Strikes Back that Luke Skywalker and Darth Vader had the fateful encounter. Maybe LEGO Star Wars has a Bespin set incoming?

If true, then this possible set could be a re-imagining of the LEGO Star Wars Cloud City that was released in 2003. It would also be similar to the new Mos Eisley Cantina set (75205) from an earlier 2003 version (4501). It’s only rumors for now, but we’ve been surprised before.

It’s a No-Show for LEGO’s 2018 Summer Sets at These International Toy Fairs.

The 2018 London Toy Fair is ready to kick-off this Tuesday, and as much as many are excited to see what is hot and what is not among various toy companies and exhibitors, it is quite sad to know that LEGO has shied away from attending this year’s London Toy Fair as we reported a few days ago.  Whether due to its underwhelming fiscal year, or as a way of keeping a tight lid on the recent waves of 2018 summer set leaks, LEGO has decidedly written off London from its list of annual 2018 toy exhibits.

toyfair retina 1

Now, for those who are hoping to see LEGO unveiling its upcoming 2018 Summer sets, well, we might not as well put our hopes too high. Brickset has received information that even though the much anticipated New York Toy Fair is just a few weeks away, the LEGO Group has also decisively placed its 2018 summer sets under wraps by not showing any of them during the NYTF. Instead, LEGO will only put on display products that will be launching during the first half of this year or until May. Those who were invited to attend NYTF’s preview party were already told that the LEGO Group will not be showing any of their summer sets from June onwards, and other related products during this event.

only ToyFair Banner OnlinePressRoom

Again, nothing much was said about LEGO’s reasons for holding these back, but we can only speculate that the reason may again, has something to do with their own ill-fated timing of releasing early images to some retailers that eventually led to the waves of leaks that we’ve seen during the past few weeks. From LEGO Marvel Superheroes Infinity War sets, to Han Solo, and even the closely guarded LEGO CMF Series 18, none of these much awaited sets will make their debut at the show floor of the Javits Convention Center in NY.

nuremberg toy fair social

Those residing in Germany and are looking forward to the Nuremberg Toy Fair, should also put in mind that while LEGO fan sites were invited to grace the occasion, LEGO has placed certain severe reporting and photo restrictions over at their booth. It is wise not to expect that much from Nuremberg as well.

All in all, it is a rather bleak and disappointing year for LEGO as far as these reveals are concerned. With even more secrecy thinly concealing what the online community already knows, LEGO fans are feeling the brunt of the prolonged delay of having these 2018 summer sets officially revealed. For the meantime, I guess we just have to make our imagination work for us, as we go through the various descriptions of these 2018 LEGO summer sets, and if you are raring to see these images anyways, then I’m sure you’ll know how to find them.

LEGO Rumored to be Making “LEGO Incredibles” and “LEGO DC Villains” Videogames

When it comes to the recent state of LEGO videogames, the past few months have been rather give and take. There’s been a lot of noise over the end of LEGO Dimensions, but loyal fans of the brand who’re also gamers were quite pleased with LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2.

After a dry spell of LEGO gaming news outside of new DLC for LMSH2, we now have information, courtesy of Comicbook.com, that there’s the probability of a couple upcoming LEGO titles with licensed IPs coming up. One is reportedly a LEGO Incredibles 2 videogame, and the other featuring DC Villains.

The former is rather understandable if such a videogame is under development. LEGO has already teased that they’re releasing some LEGO Junior sets in time for the June 2018 premiere of The Incredibles 2.  If the rumors are true, this is the first Pixar film to get the LEGO-game treatment.

Incredibles 2

Not much is known about the plot of the Incredibles 2 film, save that it starts off from the ending of the first and the main baddie is the Underminer. Interestingly, the plot may be a film expansion of the 2005 Incredibles videogame that also directly continues from the original.

Speaking of baddies, Warner Bros. Interactive is also said to be putting together a LEGO DC game title where the focus characters are the super-villains. This project is under the obvious-sounding working title of LEGO DC Villains, and will have players controlling Joker, Lex Luthor and their costumed crook contemporaries.

lego batman movie villains

As always, all LEGO-themed videogames with WB Interactive Entertainment is developed by Traveller’s Tales, who’ve been masterful old hands in making wide-sprawling action- adventure games with LEGO minifigures traversing a LEGO environment. We at The Brick Show will be keeping our eyes and ears open for more word on these.

Summer 2018 LEGO City Arctic Set Names and Numbers Revealed!

UPDATED (02/12/2018): It seems that I have overlooked this one. I intend to say ‘set numbers’ and NOT images. However, to make up for this error, here are the ‘images’, though insufferably blurred so we can have a narrow escape from the brick police.

Last month, we reported on how things will look like this summer as far as the LEGO City theme is concerned. With this year’s LEGO City Mining sets just coming in, and the Mountain Police still enjoying some relative degree of following since it was made available last December, it looks like LEGO has already mapped out the LEGO City landscape for 2018.

After the tease published by LEGO on the January to May LEGO Catalog, we now have confirmation that the next wave of Summer LEGO City sets is indeed an Arctic themed one.

We were able to gather some intel on these upcoming LEGO City Arctic set names and numbers for your reference. I will try to describe these sets later on, but in the mean time, you might be interested to know that the LEGO City Artic theme is made up primarily of orange and blue pieces, with a set having a nice, new mammoth bigfig.

Here’s the set names and images.

Are LEGO Unikitty Sets Arriving in 2018?

Fans of the LEGO Movie and its corresponding sets may be happy to know that our favorite feline (or unicorn) of positivity may soon have an entire series of LEGO sets under her name. The breakout star of 2014’s The LEGO Movie did gain a good deal of followers and some LEGO sets to her credit. She may not have received the same glamor treatment as that of Batman, with his very own moment on the big screen and a relatively huge number of LEGO sets under his belt, but LEGO did give her some separate screen time when Cartoon Network recently launched an animated series dedicated to Unikitty’s wacky adventures along with the rest of her zany new friends.

TV unikitty

This time, it looks like Unikitty will not just have a CN cartoon series of her own, but a number of LEGO sets to go along with it as well. As it seems, this still yet-to-be confirmed LEGO theme has been disclosed from an unlikely source. Online book distributor BulkBookStore.com has listed an upcoming Scholastic Book title that gives an overview of what to expect from this latest LEGO-themed book, and I guess it has revealed more than what it meant to. Here’s a screenshot of the page from their website just in case…

LEGO Unikitty

Entitled as LEGO Unikitty’s Guide to Being Happy, the book is intended for children ages 6 to 8 and is slated to be released on October 30 retailing for $6.99. What is very interesting about this listing is the way Scholastic worded its overview, and to quote (emphasis mine):

A guide from LEGO(R) Unikitty(TM) herself! The breakout star from The LEGO Movie gets her very own Cartoon Network TV show and toy line from The LEGO Group beginning in 2018. The series follows Princess Unikitty — whose efforts to stay positive no matter what sometimes make her prone to the occasional “rage-out” — as she keeps busy with royal responsibilities. Unikitty is most interested in making sure everyone is happy and in ridding the kingdom of negativity. She often fights the bad vibes that come from her nemesis, Master Frown, a big ol’ jerk who lives in the next city over: Frowntown. Joined by a cast of wild characters, Unikitty and her friends make sure that every day is the happiest and most creative ever.

So, are you ready to vanquish all negativity in Unikitty Kingdom? Are you ready to take on the forces of evil and spread rainbows and sunshine? Are you ready to get happy? Then this is the guide for you!

Is Scholastic hinting on new a series of LEGO sets for Unikitty and her friends? Furthermore, if the book is expected to be released in October, is it possible that these new LEGO Unikitty sets will be a part of LEGO’s summer wave of releases? Sure, we already have the LEGO Movie sets that bear the sought after multicolored unicorn – 7 in fact – but none of these have placed Unikitty in the forefront except Cloud Cuckoo Palace (70803).

70803 1

If indeed what scholastic has revealed is true, then we can expect a wave of similarly designed sets later on. It is also interesting to see how the characters from the TV series will eventually turn out as LEGO minifigures if indeed this happens. We haven’t received any official word yet from LEGO as of the moment, so until then, it will be wise to grab the shaker and take these things with a pinch of salt. We just have to keep our fingers crossed until then.

FYI: The banner image above is from the promotional exclusive Unikitty minifigure given away during the San Diego Comic Con 2014 just in case we get too hyped.

LEGO Star Wars DJ Minifigure Polybag (40298) Now Available at Toys ‘R’ US, with Possible Promo Coming.

Viewers who saw the Star Wars: The Last Jedi on cinemas last December will likely remember the brief appearance of Benicio Del Toro as a bit character in the narrative. He played the character DJ, a gambler and code-breaker hired by the Resistance to help them evade the evil First Order.

At first he appeared not up to reputation, then later on proved his resourcefulness to finish the job. While apparently helping Rey and Rose, he alternatively showed greed and compassion. When the deed was finally done, he succeeded in his assignment only to sell out the Resistance to buy his own freedom from imprisonment.

Such a minor, yet game-changing character was ultimately captured by LEGO to be immortalized in minifigure form in the LEGO Star Wars DJ Collectible Minifigure (40298) polybag. First announced as a promotional item in LEGO Brand Stores to celebrate the premiere of The Last Jedi, it has been reported that the  now going to branch out to Toys R Us.

39425849712 d96b10791c e1515018497462

So far, the only information about the LEGO Star Wars DJ minifigure polybag (40298) was that it will be coming to TRU and that it’s priced at the expected $4.99; there’s the possibility that the retail giant might have their own promotional, but no word has been given.

The DJ polybag (40298) is similar to the minifigure polybags of R3-M2 (40268) and Scarif Stormtrooper (40176), in that all three comprise of the minifigs themselves, connectible stands and background cards. If Toys R Us are planning any special promos involving DJ, we’ll find out and keep our readers informed so I hope you keep tabs with us.
